How I miss pizza sold by slice. Is it me or are these just more plentiful on the east Coast? Anyway, I've found myself gravitating to Point Richmond when I have an itch to travel and then remember that we're still in a pandemic and maybe shouldn't. All that to say that the area and now this delight transport me. I had been meaning to come here for a while now but it was on a casual stroll between lunch and dinner with the munchies that I decided to give it a try. A slice was just the right snack that I didn't know I needed in my life. I couldn't even wait take a picture without a bite. I got a special slice of the day and really appreciate the fresh ingredients used. I have nothing to say about the pizza itself other than, "more please." Excited to try their other slices soon and maybe one day when I've landed on my favorite take a whole pie home. My only complaint is that when I went they still were not doing indoor dining, and the few tables they had outside won't keep you dry from the randomest of untimely rain. read more

We always get the McMushroom pizza and it's so great we've yet to try another! The ricotta cheese on it paired with all the mushroom-y umami is just too good. My boyfriend who usually is not a fan of truffle flavor things, actually loves this pizza too. Their garlic knots are also a must! We always have to get them. The problem is always deciding whether we want 3 or 6! A couple things worth noting though after ordering pizza from here many times now - expect a wait. We've almost always been quoted 25 minutes on phone orders, but 2 out of 3 times they were ready, and the third time it was closer to an hour! But they do get busy in the evening so if you want the accurate wait times, definitely go earlier if possible. Last thing is be sure to check their hours here on Yelp. Their hours are listed on their website too, but they're not updated. For example they're actually open at noon nowadays, but their website says it opens at 11. read more

Service sucks but the pizza is good (and only the pizza). The salads are very sad looking for the price. $12 for handful of lettuce and a sprinkling of croutons. We were also charge $15 because we called ahead and asked to reserve a table for 6 people. No one mentioned the charge and I didn't even know there was an extra charge until I got home and read the receipt. The receipt said "custom charge: $15". I ordered a pizza today from Uber Eats for a scheduled pickup time. I arrived at said pick up time and no one had made my pizza because i didn't pay for the pepperoni, as they said i wrote in the comments. I did not. It was an option on the menu. So I got charged again for pepperoni that I had already paid for. I showed the guy at the counter that I had already been charged for the pepperoni. So I paid $8 for pepperoni that was only supposed to be $4 and had to wait another 20 minutes for my pizza that I scheduled a specific pick up time. The guy at the counter said he was sorry and they got a new system. So...how about you learn your system before you tell me I did something h wrong when I didn't and was over charged. I read about this mystery pizza spot in a Best of Bay Area pizza list, and I have to agree - someone there knows what they are doing. Both thick and thin crusts are delicious, and I had a vodka slice with garlic oil that was one of the best tasting pizzas I've ever had! It was so good I had to go back again. I was not disappointed. Same thing, awesome big slice of pepperoni pizza for 4.25 . Split it in half and still have room for those amazing buttery gooey garlic knots. And yeah an IPA was involved again. But I don't regret it. It's worth the trip and calories. The pizza is thick crust, but then thin at the bottom. Like the pizza from New York that's thin but the soft bottoms of NY pizza are crunchy here. I'm a pizza critic. I wanted to fall in love with this place, but they left a bit to be desired. We ordered the McMushroom and Garlic Knots. They ran out of Garlic Knots on a Friday at 7pm - literally right during rush hour pizza time. Walking in to pick up showed how chaotic and unorganized their operations are. Their hours are wrong on their website apparently and they were not making whole pies past 7pm. Weird! On a Friday at peak rush time. Anyways onto the pizza. After I was given the wrong pizza and ran back in to correct it (also a wtf moment), we were left feeling like the truffle flavor was completely lost on us AND they skimped out on the mushrooms. The staff, especially the cashier, consistently act as though I'm personally responsible for putting them in to poverty. If they installed a self-serve kiosk, the owner would probably make a fortune and retire early because the pizza alone would keep people coming back. Wow is Point Richmond evolving into a new foodie destination? A few days after trying the excellent Maya Taqueria, a new pizza joint just opened up next door! Apparently its an East Coast-style pizzeria that's a joint venture between the owner of Up and Under Pub and a former pro skateboarder! I am a huge fan of the McMushroom, one of the best veggie pizzas I've had. Thin, super crispy crust and the generous mushroom, mozzarella, thyme, and truffle oil is so good. My second favorite is their Margherita - light, tomatoey, and cheesy. The crust again seems to be the star here - I certainly won't mind more basil and cheese! My least favorite was the Rules Were Meant to Broken - a bit too spicy for my liking. Their Caesar Salad is also interesting - fresh, crunchy lettuce, crispy croutons, capers, and nutritional yeast! The yeast is supposed to be a vitamin-packed alternative to traditional parmesan. Its a bit pricey at $10. For $10, I'll probably get two McMushroom Slices next time. Raymond's is now on my lunch rotation. I don't mind having pizza once in a while since you can probably cover all four food groups with the right slice, LOL! read more

Also, the "Happy Birthday" pizza was really great. This pizza is a pepperoni pizza with marinara, mozzarella, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil. They use small pepperonis here and they make the scrumptious difference. I had their spicy "Rules Are Meant To Be Broken" pizza, but instead of rules, it nearly broke my toilet and my anus a few hours later. This pizza consists of hot peppers, picante oil, and spicy sopressata... way too spicy. You have been warned. I don't know who Raymond is because the owner's name is Rick. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter because Raymond's Pizza is just freaking great. * Until they get their license approved, no alcohol on their outdoor dog-friendly patio. * The parmesan is freshly grated in-house. None of that factory processed fake cheese here. * Point Richmond was the original downtown of Richmond before malls and suburbs relocated the city center. The best part of this was that Point Richmond kept its mom-and-pop charm. In fact, the area is filled with artistic shops and studios and one-of-a-kind small businesses. I have probably consumed more than 10,000 slices of pizza in my 65 years, starting at Central Pizzeria in Somerville NJ, where the owners spoke mainly Italian. So I think I know a thing or two about pizza. And the pizza here at Raymond's is some of the best I have ever had. The crust is unfailingly delicious, and the toppings high quality. For the most part, they don't go crazy with cheese, so I feel like I can eat two or even three slices without risking a coronary. The McMushroom is world class if you like mushrooms. The special slices that pop up from time to time are often great, and definitely try the garlic knots. Raymond's was busier and more vibrant before the pandemic. Weren't we all. So the turnover of slices is a little slower and it's just a little less likely to get a fresh hot slice. And there were staffing issues for a while that impacted phone service, wait times and hours, but they've straightened that out. So do yourself a favor and check out Raymond's. read more

A head's up ... this place has been long in the making and finally opened! They are still working out the kinks (like their beer and wine license), so give them a couple of weeks to get things in order. They are an independent operation that specializes in New York style thin crust pizza. They are set up to make any of their pizzas on their menu, but by the slice depends on what they choose to feature. By the time I got there they had pepperoni, Margarita? (sic), and Rules are Meant to Be Broken available. I bought a slice each of the Margarita? and Rules are Meant to Be Broken. The Margarita? had slices of fresh mozzarella (nom!) and Rules had a nice spicy bite from their housemade pickled peppers, spicy sopressata, and a drizzle of their house-infused picante olive oil. The ingredients are fresh tasting with a good ratio of toppings to crust and the foldability factor of the slices are just right. They make two sizes, an 18" round and a 12" x 18" square (okay, so it's a rectangle - deal with it) yielding 8 good-sized slices from both. They also have vegan mozzarella if you need. The only gluten-free items are probably the salads if you leave off the croutons. Check out their house special pizza and pan pizza combinations. The names alone are whimsical and fun. They also sell by the slice or you can make up your own combination. There are other options on their menu - meatball sliders, garlic knots, bruschetta, green salads. Something for almost everyone. I believe they do not take reservations except for the VIP booth in the front window. It seats six and you must order food. It might come with a time travel consultation, you'll have to ask about that one. If you can wait out the bureaucracy, they will soon have beer! read more
