There are only a handful of places that I'll go out of my way to drive for their food. And Richard's Fish and Chips is one of them. A small spot to grab fresh seafood and steam crabs. No frills, just good food. The young ladies working the counter are always really nice too. I was introduced to Richard's during covid and they quickly became one of my favorites for a good fish sandwich. I typically go with the small Icedock Sandwich meal because the original size with 2 pieces of fish is huge, but great for the price. American cheese, tartar sauce, a well seasoned piece of fried fish, and a soft roll... I'm sold! And the piping hot fries are some of the best. As a french fanatic, I know. I recently tried their Half & Half soup (half crab soup, half cream of crab) and it was delicious. Good chunks of tender crab meat and that creamy, tomatoe soup base blend was quite tasty. Although I'm partial to Richard's fish sandwich, I'm going to give some other menu items a try next time, because I'm sure it will be well worth it. read more

For a no frills to go spot for seafood and specifically crab by the dozen, this was a great spot. Standard steamed crabs in old bay seasoning - they definitely have a kick but an addicting one. Crabs were so fresh and sweet. Great value for the quality. Highly recommend calling ahead and placing an order though as they do sell out! read more

Stopped for lunch recently and had to try the soft crab sandwich! Let me tell you, from my lovely girlfriend, she was all in my ear about them having the best soft crab sandwich!! And this was my first!! The sandwich was huge! Holding 2 deliciously fried to perfection Maryland Soft Blue Crabs! The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and we had some great sides with it! *shrimp macaroni, broccoli salad, and potato salad. We also had some hush puppies and crab dip egg rolls. Service was great, and though you can eat there, we ordered online and got our food to go. They have many other fresh seafood options! This place is near my job and I love finding new crab houses. So I decided to try them and they are now in my top 5! The crabs are always heavy and steamed to perfection! The food is good too except the crab egg roll. The staff is always friendly. They have TVs up while you wait and they have a few tables for you to sit and eat. read more

This crab shack recently moved from their nostalgic location to a newly built small strip mall. You don't have to look too far, as it is right down the street next to the liquor store. I loved the old location, but I know the new building gives them more space for customers. There are now tables to eat inside as while as a picnic table outside. For years, I've been coming here for crabs and deviled eggs. I also enjoy the bay box which has shrimp, wings and fries is priced great for the amount of food you receive. If you are looking for something other than crabs, the seafood box (clams, mussels and shrimp) is great for groups. Whenever I come, the staff is always helpful and kind. Richards has about the best crabs around. I will say, a lot of that has to do with their seasoning. The staff has always been polite, kind and very helpful. I have always loved their potato salad. However, a few weeks ago when I had family over for a Sunday afternoon meal, I ordered a pint of their potato salad. I am thankful that I didn't order a quart (which I usually would). For the first time ever I was very disappointed in the potato salad! The potatoes were quite firm which basically ruined the salad! I have decided I will try it one more time in case it was just a "one-off". If it doesn't measure up, I will be looking for a new favorite potato salad!! Update to follow! read more

Seafood paradise for take out!! Wouldn't expect it to be in a old gas station, but they made it work!! Their seafood is delicious! I have order from here about four times and a family member goes once a week!! I have always ordered before hand so I could go and pick it up. Their steamed shrimp with seasoning is so darn delicious!! The large that I ordered where big and came with cooked onions as well! The crab cake meal was delicious as well!! I ordered the cucumbers tomato salad and the hush puppies and both were delicious! Love having hush puppies that are not greasy. Their crabs ( sometimes have $1 crabs) are very good as well. They will offer them with out with old bay seasoning on them. The sitting situation is they have picnic tables out front, nothing inside to sit down and eat. Finally tried Richards on a Friday and Saturday. You get the smell of seafood as you walk up to the window & they have seashells next to the sidewalk. The regulars probably know this but plan on 1.5-2 hours from order to pickup. I saw a good stream of customers when I picked up my order so it seems they stay busy. We ordered some sandwiches and sides. They didn't have bacon for the BOLT so ordered the regular Fried Oyster Sandwich. It was very good but we ordered a dozen Oysters on our second visit & this is the way to go. Oysters (seasonal) were seasoned just right, tasty & fresh. Also ordered the Ice Dock (Fried Haddock) which was gianormous! Much more fish than bread and enough for two (go with the Mini Dock). Seasoning and batter was very good. That said, we enjoyed the fish (White Fish) basket more. The batter was different and had more of a beer batter consistency. The Clam strips were also really good. They come as a side and we had 3 orders which can be an entree. We had to try the Shrimp Salad which was excellent. Many were picking up steamed crabs so next time. I was driving around and wanted a hot meal while in Aberdeen, MD and saw a fish place listed on Google. You cannot visit MD without eating some kind of seafood, right? First, this place had (deviled) crab eggs! Who does that? They do and I ate them eggs before my meal was ready. Deviled eggs with lump crabmeat on top...woo! I ordered the shrimp and wing box with fries. They are HEAVY-HANDED with the Old Bay seasoning which can be overwhelming (salty), especially on the fries....that would be my only caution, to ask for light Old Bay (I will next time). I am so upset with them ever since they moved. I would faithfully get crabs from this place ever since I found them about 5 years ago because of the quality of the crabs and price. I was SO happy that I would never get a crab that was black inside. I always got crabs that were full and had bright yellow mustard, always.. well the last time I got a dozen large Males, there were a few that were black inside and barely any meat. It was the first time this ever happened, so I didn't think much of it. This past Friday (6/14), however, I ordered one dozen males and every single crab was awful! Honestly, over half of them had their big claws missing and 4 or 5 of them had almost all legs missing (and the big claws weren't even at the bottom of the bag). They were all light in weight, and the worst, black inside , they just seemed very unhealthy looking. Lately, it's been a different experience than what I have been used to. I'm sad because they used to sell healthy looking crabs that were full and delicious with bright yellow mustard and bright white meat. I've told so many people about this place and now I feel embarrassed. Im also a little scared to order from them anymore after the past 2 experiences, its wasted money. I ordered the haddock fish sandwich with small fries. FYI the small fries can feed 3 people. The fries had a nice malted vinegar taste, reminded me of the beach. My wife had a 5 oz crab cake sandwich on a brioche roll for .50 cents more. The crab cake actually looked bigger than 5 oz and my wife says it was tasty. She didn't care for the coleslaw but didn't hate it either. If I was in the area again I would go here. The prices were very affordable and the portions are huge. When you get out of your car, the mildly-salty smell will make you think you're at the shore. I haven't tried items from their menu, but I get at least a pound of crab meat from Richard's every time I'm in Churchville. I've also bought soft shells and steamed crabs; everything is always fresh and local. The prices are good, although they don't beat grocery store prices on the crab meat and soft shells (it's also much better than anything you'll find at the local groceries!). Employees are always friendly and helpful, the place is never fishy smelling, and there are a couple of picnic tables outside if you want to eat there. read more

The popcorn shrimp was even more of a disappointment because there was barely any popcorn shrimp and it was placed on top of fries so it looked like there was more shrimp than there really was. read more
