We went today for the first time! Great doughnuts! And they threw in a couple of donut holes for free at the end! Lovely surprise. My husband also got a free donut because it was broken in addition to the donuts he ordered. I also had an everything bagel with cream cheese. Everything was delicious and very affordably priced. Love this place! We always grab a couple boxes as appreciation gifts for clients. So many different options, it's hard to choose!

I realize that this is an institution with a very well deserved reputation and my visit did demonstrate that these are donuts I'd certainly return for. I believe the truly exceptional donuts are the yeast based dough including the donut holes which were surprisingly tossed in the my order and grateful to have had them. Lighter than air, pillowy goodness. I had sampled the cake donuts and they were certainly good, but didn't reach the level of OMG that the others did. Speaking of OMG, the maple bacon donut met exceeded expectations. I'm sure the lines don't help, but I could be wrong, but what I thought I ordered was an apple fritter, but got apple filled (which someone else snuck in and ate!) and we ordered what we thought were going to be Boston/Bavarian cream filled, but were the white icing filled, which were just too sweet. Oh well...I'll be keeping closer tabs on what is getting pulled from the trays, next time. Oh yes, there will be a next time. read more

Omg. This is a little piece of heaven. Mouth- watering, scrumptious and totally sinful are these pieces of fried dough we lovingly call doughnuts. I don't think you can choose a bad one because they do not exist at this place. The apple and blueberry ones are my favorite. There's a great donut shop in the small hometown where I'm from. I tell people they're better than Krispy Kreme's and no one believes me until they try them. This place is *almost* as good as the place in my hometown. There are a few differences that nudge them ahead of Ray's, but Ray's is the best I've found in the Atlanta area! I had a chocolate covered & a glazed (the true test of a donut place) and I was pleased. They have a variety of flavors and specialty donuts. Better than KK and MUCH better than Dunkin' I don't eat donuts all that often, but when I do, they will be Ray's! Oh, and their prices are VERY reasonable and they gave us a few free donut holes. Their donuts are pretty delicious, I can't argue with that. The chocolate glaze was hot and the icing hadn't even hardened yet it was so fresh. Definitely better than a cold donut from DD. The cinnamon roll was less than desirable and the bacon egg and cheese bagel I got didn't have egg on it... So that was a bummer when I got home. But again, the donuts were so good it didn't really bother me. And like others have said, the little extra donut holes are a really nice touch! They've definitely gotten popular and can't keep up with demand. If you go in after 9 expect to be waiting in a line that goes out the door and limited to maple bacon donuts or a few leftovers or waiting around for more to come out of the oven. Even with all this, I drive 15 minutes to them whenever I crave donuts. PS. note to the owners, can you please utilize social media or a website to update customers more? Although donuts are not something I normally eat, the high ratings for Ray's Donuts made me curious enough to visit this donut shop the other. I came in and ordered a couple of donuts and a cup of coffee that I ate in the store. I do agree that this is a very good donut shop, with a real nice selection of very fresh and tasty donuts at a reasonable price. I had a chocolate covered sour cream donut and a chocolate crumb cake donut. Both were fresh, moist, and tasty. The chocolate covered sour cream donut was maybe a little too sugary for my tastes; next time I might order something different. With an order of only two donuts, they give you a few extra donut holes to eat with your order. This is a real nice touch for them to do that. The staff was real friendly and the facility exceptionally clean and well kept up. There were several tables inside if you want to eat in the store. The coffee was decent. At 7:00 am when I visited there was no line yet, but several customers came in while I was eating there, so they generate good volume. This place is well worth a visit if you have a donut craving. read more

Finally made it to Ray's Donuts! A friend of mine LOVES this place, so I thought I'd come see for myself. The shop itself is a typical donut bakery, nothing fancy about it. Plenty of parking. When I walked in, there were three people ahead of me, and only ONE famous bacon maple donut left! Please, please don't let these people buy the last donut! The first two ordered and the donut was safe, then the person in front of me orders..."one bacon maple donut". &$;);! Luckily, they brought out more! So, I bought one bacon maple, two glazed, one sour dough, one chocolate and one buttermilk. The free donut holes you get with your order were delicious. So was the chocolate donut. As for the bacon maple, meh, not for me. I gave Ray's 5 stars because even though I wasn't blown away by any of the donuts, I wasn't disappointed either. I would definitely go back. read more

Drove 45 minutes to try this place! Would recommend calling ahead of time because they close once they sell out. Went on a Sunday morning (happened to also be Father's Day) and arrived at 12ish. There was a limited variety because the donuts were almost sold out but I was able to get a good variety of 6 donuts. I tried the glaze, strawberry glaze, maple bacon, apple fritter, blueberry fritter, and one other one (I can't remember). The donuts are so fluffy and soft. It's making me drool just thinking about them. They also throw in some munchkins with your purchase. Although all the donuts were good, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the blueberry and apple fritters and the glaze donuts. Wish I could go back and eat some...I'll definitely have to stop by when I'm back in Atlanta. read more

We got the sour cream, maple bacon, and apple fritter. Our order came with free donut holes! The maple bacon was our fave, and my bf says it's probably the best of this type that he's eaten. We also liked the donut holes, and worth a good comparison with other donut places since we didn't order the classic glaze. The only place we go. Better than any store (Publix, Whole Foods, Kroger (sick joke), and better than -any- other donuts in the area and better than any BAKERY (Alons = Gross). We have tried just about everything there. Try to go once a week. VERY friendly staff. PLEASE TIP (anything, loose change, a bill).!!. Customers can be a bit mehhh.
