Cuban Diner caught my attention because I saw an ad for them on social media. Despite it being a bit farther than our typical distance threshold, we decided to take our son and my in-laws out for a good Cuban lunch last weekend, and thankfully it did not disappoint. As a first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami and married to a Cuban man, I am happy to report that Cuban Diner is the real deal. This is authentic Cuban food that is as good as the Cuban food easily found all over Miami. We started with croquetas and mariquitas. I ordered the bistec empanizado, hubby ordered the vaca frita, my son ordered the ropa vieja, my MIL orders the palomilla, and my FIL ordered a papa rellena and tamal along with a natural guava juice. We all shared bites of our plates with each other and everyone agreed that everything was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the vaca frita, so I stole a good bit from hubby and I also loved my FIL's guava juice. Service was good, but we got there shortly after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We noticed as it got busier, service definitely slowed considerably, but there was only one server for the whole place and one more handling to go orders. The one server did a fantastic job despite being the only one for multiple tables, but I did notice one couple left in frustration when they were not attended in a timely manner. I loved that they offer a total of 3 sides with the entrees, so you don't have to compromise on sides. I really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more things on their menu soon. I definitely recommend Cuban Diner, but urge you to pack your patience if you go when there is a crowd. The good news is that the food will be well worth the wait! read more

Every time we come to this restaurant for dinner it is empty, and I don't know why. The food was very good. Lechon asado had great flavor and they accommodated me by giving me extra onions. Maduros were delicious. Boiled yuca may have been the best that I have had in Atlanta. Server (who doubled as the bartender!) was so sweet and pleasant. And she made a really solid Mojito. The restaurant is in a little strip mall, and definitely is not anything fancy. But the food is good enough that you should try this place! read more

Elaina was such a delight and so very helpful on our first visit to Cuban Diner in Marietta! We both enjoyed the Palomilla Steak Dinner...so very flavorful! The steak was marinated in lime juice and came with three sides. We chose black beans, yellow rice and avocado slices. I recently ordered from Cuban Diner in Marietta and came away disappointed. The main reason I placed the order was for the whole snapper, but what I received was tilapia instead. I wasn't happy about that. The fish I received was clearly not snapper, and what bothered me most was that no one contacted me to ask if I wanted to substitute my order with a less expensive fish. I would have appreciated the opportunity to decide for myself rather than having the substitution made without my knowledge. The black beans were okay, but they weren't anything special. I also tried the tamale, which was just so-so. Unfortunately, the unexpected fish substitution overshadowed the rest of the meal. If a restaurant runs out of an item, I believe they should notify the customer and ask whether a substitute is acceptable instead of making that decision on the customer's behalf. Because of this experience, I won't order the whole snapper from Cuban Diner again. I hope they improve their communication regarding substitutions, as that would have made for a much better customer experience. read more

We ordered takeout after the waterpark. It was easy to order from the website and the food was ready when estimated. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with lots of easy parking. The lady who helped me was kind and was quick to get me on my way. I saw her race out of the door into the rain few moments later bringing something to a patron who forgot it - above and beyond customer service. My Cuban was good - fresh ingredients and plenty of meat and cheese. The tres leches was really, really good. OK. So this is the 2nd time I've been here. I wanted to wait for the second time to see if the amazing food the first time was a fluke. It was NOT a fluke. I lived in Miami for almost 15 years and this is the closest I've had to Miami Cuban food in Atlanta BY FAR. The service was excellent both times. The restaurant has a nice authentic Cuban feel and the music they play is great. I had a Pan Con Bistec the first time and Bistec Empanizado the second time There croquetas ON POINT! Just like Miami and the tostones are good. Yuca con mojo is delicious and the Pan Con Lechón my wife had was delicious. We sampled the appetizers and they were so good. I had a side of fried yucca and they were fantastic, nice and crisp with a side of garlic dipping sauce which really sit up a wonderful bite. Went yesterday with my husband and I had the palomilla steak and my husband the Arroz imperial or something like that (forgot the name of the plate), as a true Cuban I'm sorry to inform this, but the food it's really bad! The food it's old and preheated, the taste it's not there and I'm sorry for the place cz the service was nice. However, the food was disgusting, I took my food to go, just cz my husband it's ashamed when the food tastes bad and just leave it, he eat some of his and got sick. The second you walk in and those authentic Cuban smells hit you, you know you made the right choice. What we ordered: Family Appetizer Platter (we wanted to try everything okay! I was super excited about the Empanadas, but they weren't handmade, which was disappointing. Still good flavor, but you could tell they were premade frozen. Lechon Asado - ORDER IT! Flavor of the pork was amazing. Cuban rice was decent, but lacked flavor. Sweet plantains are always delish and we're fried a bit dark, just like the fiancé likes them. I ate every bite and several from our group of twelve inquired about what I had ordered since I looked good and I ate every bite. Driving down the road and searching for the most random craving: papa rellena. We stumbled upon this place and we are SO GLAD we did! Walking in there was a huge party in the middle of the restaurant having a great time. The server immediately came to us and warned we may experience a delay as their food had just went in. Not an issue at all. We ordered and we're surprised that the food came out much quicker than expected. Everything was piping hot and absolutely delicious! The family that was there welcomed us to join their celebration and even served us homemade flan. We genuinely felt like we were home with family this entire trip! Only complaint and only thing keeping this place out of 5 star contention was the bathroom. No changing table, which is a low cost way to make a restaurant more family friendly. Additionally, the bathroom was pretty minimalistic and toilet paper is not permitted to be flushed. Therefore, there is a trashcan full of used toilet paper sitting there. The outside of the restaurant looked a bit sketchy but the inside was quite nice. This review started out as a 4/5 but quickly dropped out due to horrible service after the meal. There was ONE girl waiting tables-ish, and working the Togo and pickup orders. The food came quick, I ordered the Pollo Empinazado with Tostones, Maduros, and Moro Rice. The tostones came out cold and the Maduros were hard, not soft like the typical presentation. And since I never saw the waitress after my food was dropped off I never had a chance to get it fixed. I eventually got up and went to the bar to ask for a refill of my drink, it was the only way it was going to get refilled. I'm not a fan of poor service and the quality of the food was OK. Great food and service are always available at the Cuban diner! We just visited after a while and learned that the restaurant is under new ownership, but the food was exactly as we remembered, delicious! Our friendly and efficient server told us that the kitchen staff was the same as before. We had appetizers of tostados and plantains, a mojito, lechon, carne asada, and a grilled snapper filet with mojo. Soooo wonderful, all of it. With three sides each, we had a ton of food and plenty of leftovers. Plus we ordered a flan, but also took that home. Our server was so nice she even offered to take a family picture. Was pretty disappointed by this place. I had the lechon Asado, it was extremely dry flavored decent but dry as shit. The rice was pretty good, as were the plaintains. But meat was awful. Same story with the Mojito Chicken, the disappointment not the dryness. It was soaked with lemon and garlic. Wasn't good at all, and the vegetables didn't taste like anything. The Cuban Diner is nestled in an old shopping center, which shows signs of aging. But, that should not stop you from parking and going in. The food is delicious. I had the ropa vieja with three sides ( a great deal). I had French fries, black beans and yellow rice. The vieja is this wonderfully slow cooked brisket combined with a tomato sauce that is absolutely delicious. I had a Corona with it, and it was a great compliment. Stop by and try it out. read more
