We've shopped here a few times over the years. The foods in this market is good and the produce is fresh. The deli food is good. We don't do our full grocery shopping here because it's a bit pricey and they don't have everything we need. The service is good at this market and the staff is friendly and helpful. it's bad enough the price is three times what it is anywhere else, when I'm spending three times the price on it and it's out of date that really pisses me off, hopefully it didn't make me sick cause that would be a lawsuit after that. Stopped here twice for deli sandwiches. The sandwiches are very good. On our first visit, we watched the worker make our sandwiches with great care and they were delicious. The worker was friendly and attentive. The second time our sandwiches were made with care as well, but there was some grumpiness by the lady who made them as she made it clear we were taking her away from another activity in the deli. went there few months ago and got ricotta cheese and it was 2 weeks past expiration date, go there again tonight in hopes things would be different silly me didn't look at expiration date when I should have. cream cheese expired on November 29th it's now December 21st. why is it on the shelf and dates not being checked? who knows... but I definitely will not be shopping here again. the staff is overall nice but it's not hard to do your job... read more

Great community grocery store with a deli! On the final hour of a 12 hour road trip and we needed a restroom and a few groceries. We stopped at Grocery Outlet first but was told no restrooms were available. They told us Ray's was open so this was our next stop. Ray's was wonderful! It was clean, well stocked, full of neat goodies, had a great deli, and best of all... kind and helpful people working in the store. *As I walked into the store, I witnessed a female store employee perform an act of compassion on a less fortunate member of the community. This act of compassion truly made my day. Thank you Ray's for caring about the community. 5+ stars. It doesn't get any better! read more

Probably the worst grocery store known to man. The only reason is survives is because there isn't anything else like it. Grocery outlet is great, but you can't count on them to have everything you need. You have shop smart, that is owned by the same people, so it's like a bad case of deja vu if you head there hoping they have something Rays didn't. The biggest complaint is the prices. It really is outrageous and they get away with it because they can. I have secretly wished for a chain store to come in here and obliterate them because they have been robbing the town of La Pine blind for years - ESPECIALLY the high population of senior citizens that aren't able to travel to Bend. The ONLY saving grace is the meat bonanzas. Those are actually good deals. The staff is also generally friendly, ever since the creepy gray haired guy with a flattop was fired. read more

Rip Off!!! we've been shopping here in La Pine for 35 years. This store gets worse every year. The employees are rude and the prices are outrageously High! We don't mind paying a little bit more for quality, but this is quite the opposite lately. This is a disservice to the community of Lapine especially those who are on a budget. Grocery shopping is bad enough with these prices. We all decided to go to Winco in Bend and take the trip. I hope these grocery stores close down I'm sick of them, taking advantage of the little people who are trying to make it. read more

This is community grocery store. They have a deli and a bakery. We got some awesome sandwiches here and some tasty coleslaw. You can find just about anything you need here. I see a lot of negative reviews due to prices being higher than chain stores.....remember this is not a chain store it's a one off. You're paying for convenience. Plenty of parking no worries there. And there open til 10 pm. read more

I shopped here and at their other store "Shop Smart" in La Pine once. They are the WORST market i think I have ever been in. All i can say is that the owners of these two stores, located in this small community should be ashamed of themselves. I believe they must have invented the word GREEDY. Asked the lady in the bakery if we could have a cake made. She asks when we need it by and we say Saturday. She replies, very rudely, with "well our cake decorating lady isn't in until Monday, that's why I asked." She was rude for no reason and really put a damper on my birthday, which is what the cake was for. She didn't have to reply back so mean. Work on your customer service skills. We ended up going to Shop Smart who were very kind and could accommodate my wishes :) Way to lose a customer, Rays. I was rooting for y'all too. read more

I have always loved this place but tonight the worker named Greg was throwing my groceries all over the place because I didn't take them out of the basket. They have never ONCE made me take my groceries out of the basket but I was surprise none of my stuff broke with how he was handling it. I had glass in it and he totally turned it upside down and dumped it out then was throwing all over the place. read more

Ray's is a modern, clean supermarket that is a typical size for a smaller community. They carried anything you'd need, from a service bakery, meat, and deli counter all along one wall (to save money on personnel?) to wine, beer, packaged groceries, produce, dairy and frozen foods. The prices here are a bit higher than I'm used to, but there is one other supermarket in town I did not get to visit to compare. (edit: Found out that the company that runs Ray's also owns the other supermarket in town. Probably not much price competition here) If you are in the need of deli roasted chickens, they are selling them for the lowest price I've seen anywhere - $5, everyday. This store has the irritating style of Oregon bottle return, meaning outside the store and with separate machines for cans, glass bottles and plastic. At least when I used it, all the machines were working. Ray's is nice to have so close to the Newberry Volcanic Monument, in case you need some ice or last minute stuff for camping. Their wine is pretty pricey, but expected out this way. Folks are pretty friendly in there though..and its convenient. They have a bathroom too which can be helpful too. read more

I want to leave my comment primarily about their deli staff. I was in their several days in a row just grabbing something for dinner because I had just moved home after being gone 7 years and the move had been chaos and I still didn't have my kitchen set up. They were so sweet to me and so kind and recognized me the second day I came back. That's amazing service. I am so glad when I moved home I decided to move to LaPine and not back up to the Redmond area. LaPine is what Redmond was 30 years ago when I moved here at 18. I feel like I am home again. Shop Smart and Ray's are the only two supermarkets in La Pine. They are both owned by the same owner. As a result there is absolutely no competition that exists regarding food prices. The pricing of their food speaks for itself. A pound of Oscar Meyer bacon was on sale fo $8.79/lb. (regular price is $8.99/ lb.) This is borderline criminal. You can purchase prime rib for less than that. Their food price are exhorbitant and they take advantage of the La Pine residents, many of whom are seniors on fixed incomes. I certainly hope they enjoy raping the residents of the community. The city is growing and eventually a chain such as Alpha Beta or Safeway will eventually open up in the city and relieve residents of shakedown they're presently undergoing with Ray's and Shop Smart. read more

This store is near an RV Park where we're staying so we shopped here. The store is clean and has a nice layout. Their veggies are fresh and bakery items looked good. The best was that everything I was looking for was in stock and their staff are extremely courteous and helpful. We'll shop at Ray's again when we're in the area. Both of the grocery stores in la pine are owned by the same company and the prices are high. They do have a decent small meat counter and deli. The store is well stocked and the staff is helpful and friendly. Take the short trip to Bend once a week and you will save alot of money. read more

The manager Tom or Tim or whatever is a complete jerk. He clearly hates his job. Every time I've gone in there I try to avoid his checkout stand. He's rude and inconsiderate, makes you feel like you're wasting his precious time. The food in overpriced. The locals refer to this place as "raping rays" read more

A prepared Thanksgiving meal purchased by my friends at this store was the worst possible food I have ever encountered. Absolutely terrible. The stuffing...good grief they should have used stove top but I guess they tried to extend what they had so they added a whole lot of very large (2 inch pieces) of bread. Which of course was just white bread without enough spices or liquid to flavor it. The green bean casserole? a whole lot of watered down mushroom soup ( no mushrooms) in which a few poor quality green beans floated. Awful! Now to mashed potatoes...they looked good given all the butter our hosts had put on them, but tasted like glue. I don't know what kind of instant potatoes they used because generally they are pretty good these days. Not these...must have been left over from the first invention of dehydrated potatoes. Rolls? the cheapest little pull aparts you could find...Turkey...partially cooked. They had to roast it an additional 1 1/2 hours. The juice that was left after that time was pink which apparently is how it is supposed to be. I don't know how you ruin a turkey, but this one had a lot of extra connective tissue making it harder to eat. I imagine this food was put together at the store, maybe in the deli of which will NEVER see me again. I don't shop a lot here because the prices are high and store not so clean (check out the rest rooms) both here and at Shop Smart. The trash cans in the rest rooms have never been washed. In addition, our friends had purchased a ham for dinner. That ham was too salty to eat. Another unwelcome surprise. The people at this store are pretty friendly although the last time I was there, a new young woman was extremely brash...very loud and inattentive. Suggestion.....managers need to oversee their staff. That Thanksgiving meal should have never left the store. I hope you take the time to call every single person that you sold those meals to and apologize for your lack of quality. You should refund their money also. If they had a lot of it to spare or were physically able, they would probably have created their own dinner. read more

When I first moved here 2017 I went into Rays groceries and bought some food. I wrote the check for $50 over and walked out of the store without the money. The next day is when I realized that I did not have it and called the store. They requested that I come in and talk with them in which I did. They did not find any overage in the previous nights till. At that point, I realized that the young girl who checked me out pocketed it and she was standing right there when I was talking to the Manager and accounting person. She looked sheepish and afraid but said nothing! At that point, I said there is no way of proving to you that I did not get the money. This girl may have done something like this again because she now works at McDonald's. I have learned my lesson to pay more attention. Hopefully she realizes that steeling eventually catches up and there are consequences. By the way, the Manager and Accounting person were very nice when talking to me about it. read more
