We decided on a whim to order to-go from here one day and I thoroughly regret that decision. I got the ravioli...disgusting! Watery "tomato" sauce, tough pasta and no flavor- honestly I would have enjoyed a can of Chef-Boy-R-Dee more than this, and I don't eat canned food. My husband got the seafood alfredo or something similar and it smelt and tasted like putrid fish. I attempted to order a piece of tiramisu but was told that it was FROZEN SOLID- what kind of Italian place doesn't make their own tiramisu?! They offered me something else, I don't recollect what I chose, maybe Italian cream cake...and it came from distributor box as well. Will never return here. read more

Menu offers a decent variety. We ordered Chicken Masala with veggies and Eggplant Parmesan. Staff quickly brought out warm fresh rolls with tasty olive oil/balsamic vinegar mix. Both entrees were good and they were perfect comfort food, especially on road trips. Would recommend for anyone looking for a break from a long day of driving on I-20. My wife and I don't typically care for Italian food but we both really enjoyed Ray's! Complimentary garlic knots are served with oil and vinegar to start your meal. The portion sizes are very generous for the price. I had chicken fettuccine Alfredo -- it was very creamy and rich. My wife ordered the sun dried tomato chicken which was served with a wine and cream sauce and pasta. The wine lent a deliciously sweet but tangy flavor to the cream sauce. This place is terrible. I don't know if I went on an off night or what but seriously what a joke. I'm driving all day from AZ trying to make it to DFW area in about a day and a half and hope Yelp will find me something nice in Midland - a place I'm not familiar. I don't expect much but decide to try a local place instead of Texas Roadhouse etc. Upon arriving, me and the group right in front of me wait for about 7 minutes. Nobody at host area, not even waiters or anyone in sight on the floor. Then finally they seat us but don't look too pleased to even have customers. All the staff was doing god knows what scurrying around in the back. My waiter has a bad odor to him. I tell him I'm looking for a pasta and don't know what to get - hoping at least the staff knows the best thing to get....he offers me a chicken dish, which I guess comes with sides pasta but yeah...so I tell him "ok what pasta though?" He gives another recommendation and I say ok that w/ the chicken added option. I don't get my water refilled one time while I'm there. Nobody asks me how I'm doing or checks in, and guess what? The damn pasta dish comes without even the chicken. Oh and it was watery as hell and had zero flavor to it. God I hope nobody Italian works or eats here because it is a complete joke. Restaurant 101, have someone visible at all times, check in with your customers regularly and they'll forgive half that stuff. But you don't do any of that and don't check come on guys! I know I'm in middle of nowhere Texas but really? Oh and before I go, I have to literally call across the room to my waiter to get his attention for the check because I'm fed up. Another table tried to call the waiter and he raises his hand to them like not now and walks away. When he brings the check he stands there watching me and I'm of course not leaving a tip. What the hell? I'm literally writing this before driving 2 more hours at 8:19PM to get to Abilene because this place is a joke. I love this place! I've been to Ray's twice this month, and I'd be happy to go again. The service is always really good, and their garlic rolls are so delicious. My boyfriend and I have never had a bad dish there. The lasagna, caprese salad, and cheesecake have been my favorite dishes thus far. This place is also BYOB, so if you enjoy wine with your Italian food, this is more cost efficient but can be inconvenient. read more

Many are the times I've come here, and I've learned one immutable fact. They are amazing... provided you are eating in. Take out has been known to disappoint us but I've never had a bad meal eating in. First off they provide excellent value for the cost, especially the chicken and pasta dishes. You really can't go wrong with most of the chicken dishes. Chicken sunrise is especially excellent. They cook the pasta to a perfect al dente and the sauce never breaks. The sausage and peppers is also great, but the true highlight is their fettuccine carbonara which is made with way more authenticity than is expected in midland tx. For 9 bucks you can eat almost like your in Italy at a price that even there would be considered cheap. They let you bring your own wine and have no cork fee. The food here is astounding. The beef bolognese is to die for. The chicken parmigiana might be the best in town. My money won't be going here again, however. I went on a Saturday at 1:15pm. There were three tables occupied when my wife and I were seated. The waiter threw menus at us near the table, stopped, wiped his nose, and asked my wife what she wanted to drink. She answered tea, to which he asked, "Sweet or unsweet?" She said unsweet. He started to walk away, and when I said I'd like a sweet tea, he stopped, looked through me and said, "We don't have sweet tea." If you want my money, do not treat me like this. read more

I would give ZERO stars if possible. We are from out of town and ate here 1 month ago and it was excellent. To say this place was a disappointment today would be a gross understatement. We ordered the fettuccini carbonara. The pancetta was practically raw, onions undercooked, and the "sauce" was not creamy, but rather watery and tasted like chicken bouillon. But the biggest problem wasn't even the food. It was the manager, Angie. We called ahead of time to be sure they were open because it was Christmas Eve. Angie was very rude over the phone and gave us the impression that they were so crowded that we may have to wait for a seat. We had no problem with a potential wait. We arrived a few minutes later and we were "greeted" by none other than Angie who acted like we were a terrible inconvenience for showing up. Incidentally, they were not terribly crowded, but had one large party seated and another 3 tables of 2. After our meal when our waitress (who was very sweet) came to pick up our table she inevitably asked how everything was and we of course told her about our disappointing meal. A few minutes later, Angie, the manager, stopped by our table. We explained about the difference between the food last month and today and all she did was make excuses and throw the cook under the bus, instead of asking how to make things better. We told her because of the food and the way she acted we don't plan to go back. As we were leaving she said "I hope you do what you said and never come back. F*** you." Then, she physically tried to shut the door on me. I was completely flabbergasted. This woman SHOULD NOT be dealing with people, she clearly has no social skills. It was appalling. read more

A real nice Italian restaurant with a family atmosphere. Coming from New York where Italian restaurants are as familiar as Mexican restaurants are in Texas it's nice to go to one that serves good authentic food. I had the chickens piccata and was delighted that the butter sauce was not to watered down. They start you off with homemade bread and olive oil when you sit down. The staff are friendly and are always there for you when you need refills of tea/water. If you have the chance to get to Ray's I highly recommend it. read more

Service was bad. 6 people working front for 5 tables. Gave our drinks, sodas, when we order food. Never saw them again until dinner came out. Waited 15 min with both empty glass and couldn't hail waiter cause rarely came out. Water was clearly tap from faucet. Midland water not exactly known for great taste. Food did taste good as I got the seafood mix; however, the amount of baby flies that kept flying around us and our food is very disconcerting. Those baby flies don't often just fly into building in hordes, so where are they coming from? Makes me question cleanliness of back. Again food tasted good but I'm finding it hard to consider going back with poor service and possibly contaminated food or health issues in back. read more

Our waiter was wonderful. He informed us that the owners worked at other notable Italian restaurants in Midland and wanted to create a less expensive option. I ordered the Veal Caprise, which, although good, does not compare to the other restaurants. It was obviously frozen and not fresh, and became more apparent the more I ate. The rest of my meal was delicious. My husband's pasta was good, but the use of canned spinach almost ruined it for him. However, the bread is simply amazing. In summary, this is a nice alternative to the more expensive Italian places in Midland, but it's cheaper for a reason. read more

The sound level is terrible and it's seams they do not want to do anything about it. It's an easy fix. However the food was very good and I ordered the chicken parmigiana it was excellent. I always use common sense when ordering and reading reviews so when I go to a place for dinner I don't order things like veal as I'm sure it will be frozen who can keep a supply of fresh veal on hand if you are not a large restaurant. Don't know why they even have it on the menu. I haven't eaten veal in over 20 years because of how it's raised and it's not as popular as it once was. Oh, how much we love this place but tonight was super disappointing. I normally would t leave a bad review for one of our fav places but I'm so sad about tonight. Don't get me wrong we love all the food here but tonight we got the margarita pizza cause we were in the mood for a specialty something. First of all they didn't uses the sundries tomato pesto sauce as said, the mozzarella was not fresh and the caked it with garlic... it was straight basic tomato sauce. We also Ordered half a dozen bread rolls and were charged so much. Just a few weeks ago we ordered some of the bread and dipping sauce and was no where the same price. they over charged us soooo much for some bread!! Especially when we just paid so Much for this pizza. When I called the girl on the phone was beyond rude to me and basically told me I was a liar when I said I believed we were over charged ....ummm we ordered two dozen to compliment our meal here at home 2 weeks ago and it was $0.25 a roll, and we're only charge $3 and some change... tonight we paid a fortune for half a dozen. Food was amazing! They are fairly new and short on staff. Our poor waiter was very busy. Our glasses didn't get refilled; never offered. It was VERY warm in the restaurant. When we received our ticket he over charged us $5.00 on two plates. We ordered Salmon Fettuccine & the spaghetti with red sauce. Other then the things I mentioned it's a nice place. Great new restaurant! Food is wonderful. The garlic bread is the size of cinnamon rolls. We didn't do an appetizer but we will next time. The spaghetti my wife got was topped high and looked like she will eat on it for days. My lasagna was wonderful and super cheesy. I took home half. If you have been to mi piace in odessa or Luiges in midland very similar. Priced very affordable from $7-13 meals. BYOB. My only complain was the food is a little slow coming out.
