I am a long time wet shaving user and my 15 year old Merkur Futur had developed significant corrosion under the top cap. (Beware of Zamak--once the zinc coating starts to degrade, the rust of the underlying pot metal is significant and fast). On a whim, I drove 40 minutes to their location last week. I did not have an appointment, but Dondra (DJ) spent an hour with me. I thought I knew wet shaving, but she was a wealth of information. She showed me several stainless steel razors and discussed the differences in detail. I was intrigued with the Rex Supply Co. "slant" razors, but ended up with the Yates Winning for now (I'll be back for that one). She explained the difference between the Yates and my Merkur, and the Winning is very easy to use with little learning curve. It would be an excellent first safety razor, as it is so easy to use. She gave me a few Personna DE blades to try, but I found my Feathers to yield a more BBS shave. It turns out that DJ makes their brand of shaving soaps and she sent me home with a sampler pack. The lather is impressive--thicker than my go to Proraso cream. I had a question on the care of the Winning and received a reply from Matt Pisarcik, the owner and YouTube star himself! If you live near Phoenix, a trip to their location is worth the drive. They are close to PHX, so you could stop by on your way to/from the airport. 10/10. read more

I made a huge order of shaving cream on Thanksgiving and received an email from Rex stating an error with my order. I emailed regarding the error, and their reply was that I ordered too much shaving cream, so I needed to email them my driver's license. I cancelled the order. Here's where they're shady. They won't initiate a refund. After 3 days, I contacted PayPal but had to wait the customary week+ to get my refund. Go on Reddit, badgerandblade, etc. and do a search. You'll find many such cases of piss poor customer service. I didn't want to change the review but my Konsul, regardless of settings, kept creating weepers, etc. so it went into the trash. I didn't want to update this review. However, after the shaving cream experience, I needed to update. That's my experience and opinion, but don't take my word for it. Do a search. read more

They were great to work with! Yes it took a while but they always answer the phone promptly & DJ was always willing to check things out. I bought a Rockwell 6S 24K Gold from Rockwell but was disappointed in the matte finish it came in. It looked almost painted on rather than luxury. I sent it to Razor Emporium and they were going to do an even swap for one they already had that was 24k polished! Then after looking at and studying the properties of Rhodium I decided I had to have both do I asked about their "Prospector" edition. Again they were extremely fair and so I also ordered the base holder in Gold and a few other accessories. I drove over an hour to come here (this should reflect my first experience) unfortunately I got here at 4:00 and they were already closed although online and on their door it says 4:30 on Saturdays. Ashley and Sal helped us out when we visited a couple of weeks ago on a random Thursday afternoon along our travels. My husband is a shaving hobbyist for quite some time following/watching - I'd Lather be Shaving - Razor Emporium channel since the beginning on YouTube. It would've been neat to meet Matt but knew it was most likely not an option. We vacationed in Lake Havasu, so on our way back it was a must stop! Ashley was highly knowledgeable on products, and recommendations as well as such a sweet person. We also met Sal whom stopped by unexpectedly while we were there so my husband had a chance to discuss with him some history of shaving, and he also pointed out his favorites in the store. We definitely did not "need" to purchase any more soaps or products but just had to! If you check in on Yelp you get 10% off ... which helped on how much we spent. :) My husband has almost as much product in his own inventory so trust me we purchased some new soaps and items out of the factor that we were there in person. Ordered the ,55 "bundle'. The photo shows the shaving products and a razor. Warning , although it's in the photo, the razor is not part of the bundle. This is apparently denoted way on the bottom of the product description. Now, I looked the description a couple of times and didn't see that until sent the copy in an email. I'll be darned, there it is, not on the photo, not on the top of the description, but way on the bottom. I can't be the only person who assumes what's in the photo, is in the $60 bundle. read more

I wanted to give a DE razor a try. After watching some videos, I decided on a parker 91R. I also figured I would get a brush, a pre-shave bar, some shave cream and a brush/razor combo stand. Ordered the items on 2/11/23. They didn't ship out until about 5 day slater. I needed to provide a prompt to initiate the shipping. Because they waited as long as they did, the order would have been received on a Monday (10 days after it was ordered). However, the Monday it would have arrived was a USPS Holiday so it didn't arrive until 2/21/23. Opening the box, the stand was missing. I let them know that the order was incomplete. About two days later, and after another prompt, they told me they shipped the item. I received the package and though there was a stand in the box, it was not what I had ordered. It was a brush stand. I had decided on ordering from Razor Emporium because the price was the lowest (by about 10 bucks overall). However, in retrospect, I had strongly considered buying from Amazon because I would have received the items within 48 hours. Next time Amazon. These guys don't care enough to pay attention to detail. Which is another way of saying they don't necessarily appreciate your business. read more

One has to be a sleuth to find this place! Not really, but it is difficult to find the storefront even with the directions on the website. I visited once many years ago when the shop was up off the 17 and I figured it was time to see the new location. Same great products at a great value. It really is the best place for vintage razor service, be it a revamp or a tune up. They have a decent selection of local artisan products but also some of the bigger European brands. RE is the premier seller of fine razors and shaving accessories in America. They also do restoration work on vintage razors. While on-line transactions are highly recommended, you can visit RE. However, they are not really geared towards serving foot traffic; so making an appointment is strongly advised. RE also manufactures their own razor called the REX Ambassador and its a work of art! RE is located in a industrial building and you will need to call them to open the door. If you are a fan of DE shaving a visit to RE is a must. Double highly recommend. read more

This place is AWESOME! I initially took my husband here for his birthday because he wanted to start double blade shaving. We went in thinking an entire set-up would cost about $300 from the research we had done online. We were pleasantly surprised to find we only spent $185 for an entire customized set-up. Tiffany helped us, she was very patient with us and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and letting us smell the different soap and aftershave scents. Not knowing anything about straight razor or double edged shaving I was interested and I never felt intimidated. She was very friendly and willing to answer all my questions. In fact, she showed me their ladies shaving stuff and I was really impressed. This place isn't just about products, they really take the time to educate their patrons. This is apparent in their appearance on a well-known shaving podcast and their set of instructional and informational youtube videos. If you are looking to start straight razor/double razor shaving or you are a long-time pro you have got to check this place out! I really cannot recommend them highly enough. We are really into vintage stuff so I gotta say the highlight of our trip was getting to see their antique collection of razors and memorabilia! We saw some really cool stuff. The shop itself can be a bit tricky to find, located in an industrial area. They have a nice little store front and they carry a variety of products in-house but most of their sales are online. The store is attached to their shop, where they refurbish vintage/antique razors as well as newer ones that could use some work. Was shown where everything was by a guy who knew little about the products but nonetheless, showed me where they were... After looking through the shelves and finding a razor I really liked, I hunted down the fella that escorted me there. He got on the phone and told me that the owner didn't want to walk him through the debit card system and that if I wasn't paying cash, he wouldn't be able to help me. Ordered a Hoffritz travel safety razor {Felix Leiter would be proud of it} from their on-line listings a few weeks back. It arrived quickly and was the one as pictured on the web site. Tried it out a few times and seems to be in great condition and shave ready. Price was reasonable to me for the item and am very satisfied with the purchase.
