Don't be concerned that they have so few reviews on Yelp - I attribute that to Timmy maybe not being that social media oriented (I don't think he really knows Yelp). These guys did a great job and I'm already telling all my friends. By the way, how did I hear about him? When Southern Lumber was still open, they said he was their #1 floor guy. Either way, it's perfect timing a my little boy has just started walking and now he will have a beautiful yard to play in. I'm so excited! The guys at Ross Gardening Services were all really nice and worked well. They even teased and played with my lil guy, letting him play with their tools and such. There were a couple of set-backs but I think that is to be expected in any contract work. All-in-all, they were able to start and finish faster than I expected and the grass looks great. In less than a week, my lawn was transformed! They leveled my front lawn and put compost and grass sod down. They took out cacti and weird bamboo and bushes that were growing randomly, too. They cleared a BUNCH of junk from my back yard (dump fees are expensive, btw!). Then, to top it all off, they used the extra sod and fixed my back up, too. I'll post a buncha pics. I'm pretty laid back so I didn't have a contract written up but that didn't matter, they still did things in a quick efficient way and my end bill was the same as the initial quote... except for what I added on as they went. If you're the kind who likes things more structured though, I'm sure Ron would write it up for you. If you decide to go with them, be sure to treat the guys right as they're hard workers. I tried to offer snacks and drinks when possible... they really like cherry coke, btw. haha Oh, and let me know how it goes! I have a huge backyard that was neglected by the previous owner. With a small dog and two little…read moretoddlers loving to explore the backyard, it was important to get it cleaned up and ready for them, and more importantly, my son's 2nd birthday. With only 2 weeks before the big day, I told the hubby there was no way he could get this done in time. So I researched online and found Ron Ross Landscaping on Craigslist. I had many other landscapers come by to give me bids, some were really cheap and seemed sketchy, others were quoting outrageous numbers ($10k-$15k). Ron was the last person who came by the same day I called (7pm) and good thing he did cause he ended up hiring him. We told him our ideas, he gave recommendations, we sent him a drawing we drafted with our ideas and gave him our budget and told him, we were strapped for cash and he suggested for us to pay for all materials so we could keep track of our expenses from the start. We could then pay him after he was done the remainder after the job was done. I jumped on Yelp and saw all the reviews and was taken back as my husband actually connected with him. We were done wrong by the last landscaper and Rob reassured us that he is professional and would do great work for us, that the only thing he needed up front was money for gas and dumping which wasn't factored into the original quote. He sent me more pictures of his work so we took a chance. All we wanted was to have the backyard cleaned up, the ground leveled, lay some grass, pebbles, bark and install our manual sprinkler system. Total cost for us was about $2500 for 2 men for 2 weeks. He had an older gentleman with him who assisted. Ron and I communicated mainly through text messages. They did such a great job that even my next door neighbor booked him for a job the following week. When we are ready to work on the front yard, we'll be calling Ron back. Ron has come back a few times to check on my lawn because they were browning in some areas. He said he would gladly replace them but suggested for us to water frequently, especially in those areas and to purchase a lawn protein for it from Home Depot. And it worked!!! The floor looks great, it was a very good price, and the carpet we had installed to replace our old carpet on the stairs and upstairs landing is high quality, and again was installed by Jack with great care. I ordered custom cabinets through a local company thinking they would arrive perfect. I mean, the cabinets had an 18 week lead time! Lo and behold, one of the vanity cabinets arrived with major alignment issues in the drawers and one of the drawers would not even close properly. My contractor tried to adjust the drawers with no success. Someone from the cabinetry company also came to adjust the drawers, but they were unable to align them properly. I was then referred to Ahmed. I had high expectations since they were singing his praises. Ahmed impressed me from the get-go. He arrived on time, was courteous, and it was obvious he had experience - he could immediately tell what needed to be done to adjust and align the drawers. He was also able to determine the manufacturing defect in the drawer core, which was why the drawer would not properly close.
