Terrible experience all around I made the mistake of hiring…read moreMorris Renovations to replace all the windows in my house. I waited 8 months for the new windows. Morris Renovations kept blaming the delay on the factory and on covid. I find it very hard to believe because this was late 2021, the first half of 2022 when covid wasn't that big of a deal anymore. Also, I picked Marvin windows which are made in the US using Canadian lumber. Regardless, during those 8 months, it was incredibly tough to get in touch with anyone from Marvin who could provide me an update. My "project manager" Roman was nowhere to be found and would not return my calls. The guy who answers the phone just said he didn't know anything. For "security reasons" he would not provide me a direct number for Roman so I basically had no way to reach my supposed "project manager". You can't just take a 7K deposit and go MIA. Anyway, I was just about to lose all hope, when, miraculously, after 8 months, my windows were finally ready. On the day of installation, however, it turned out that one of my windows had been "misplaced" and no one could tell me where it was or when I could get it. 2 weeks later, they "found" my window. We set up a new install date, only to get it rescheduled with less than 24h notice. I didn't even get an apology. I'm still waiting on that missing window.... Now, as to the installation itself, it was far from top-notch workmanship. I had to go around and ask the guys to add more insulation foam in spots they had missed. They scratched and damaged the new windows in a couple of places, and they broke the molding on the interior so now I have to get that replaced too. Their caulking looks like a 2-year-old did it. To top it all off, they almost yelled at me for picking a big bow window with fixed panes because it is harder to install without specialized equipment that Morris does not have. All in all, my experience with Morris Renovations was extremely disappointing. After spending the equivalent of a new car, I was expecting to at least get quality to match the price. Sadly, all Morris has to offer is good salespeople. Once you've signed on the dotted line, you will get nothing but frustration and disappointment. Learn from my mistake and find a better contractor. UPDATE: I finally got my missing window. After reading my original review, the guys really tried their very best this time. Their best is just not good enough, unfortunately. They didn't use house wrap to prevent water intrusion. They didn't shim any of my windows. They somehow managed to over-tighten some screws and had nails popping out on the finished side of a 10K bow window. Not to mention all the scratches and dents they managed to put in. Their caulking is still deplorable. And they should not be allowed to touch moulding or any finished carpentry. I am mostly mad at myself because instead of going with the contractors I know, I decided to spend a little more for "professional window installers" thinking they would actually know what they are doing. I know how hard it is to find good contractors. I really hope this review helps prevent people from doing the same mistakes I did.

Sliding door installation…read more rough opening was not measured correctly. it was at least 3 inches too narrow and 3 inches too short. to take up space on the top, they broke apart the old door and stuffed it in the gap at the top, the sides where filled (mostly) with foam. It fit so poorly, they took longer screws from the old door. no felt or barrier on the sill. good job on the metal work around the window. I guess they have to be good to hide the terrible craftsmanship. Calls to the sales person go unanswered.

Exceptional Experience with Novalis Roofing & Siding - True Professionals…read more I can't say enough good things about my experience with Novalis Roofing & Siding. After years of frustration with a poorly installed roof on our 10-year-old home in Florham Park, NJ, I finally found a team that not only understood the issues but fixed them with integrity and care. From the start, the Novalis team was thorough and transparent. Every time we had a storm, shingles would blow off the roof. Despite having a "roof warranty," the company that originally installed it had long gone out of business--and now I understand why. The workmanship was a mess. Novalis came out, inspected the entire roof and gutter system, and took detailed photographs to show me every flaw. They walked me through the issues step by step, including improperly installed vent pipes, vented ridges, flashings, and even non-functioning bath and dryer vents. They also replaced damaged corner trim, which other companies had overlooked entirely. Their proposal was fair, and their team was incredibly professional, clean, and efficient. They completed the work exactly as promised, and the difference is remarkable. We've since had multiple storms, and I no longer worry when the wind picks up--I finally feel confident that my roof is going to last for many years to come. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work, communicates clearly, and treats your home like their own, I highly recommend Novalis Roofing & Siding. They earned my trust and delivered top-quality results.

Working with Blue Nail was an exhausting, disappointing, and infuriating experience. Blue Nail…read morelacked professionalism, accountability, and transparency throughout. They made multiple attempts to mislead us and only followed through when faced with the possibility of legal action. Save yourself the time, money, and stress. Avoid Blue Nail at all costs. Blue Nail came recommended, so we reached out for an estimate. Early on, my father felt their team was defensive and difficult to communicate with. I didn't initially see that, so we moved forward. Our home is a Victorian farmhouse with a steep roof and a flat section where a widow's walk once existed. We wanted to restore it and initially asked them to hold off on installing EPDM in that area so we could add the posts ourselves. They declined and instead issued a change order to include the posts in their scope, which we accepted due to time constraints. After signing, we began asking about their installation method, expecting the posts to be properly framed for safety and durability. Once we started asking detailed technical questions, their demeanor noticeably shifted. Shortly thereafter, Blue Nail informed us that they intended to withdraw from the contract, citing permitting and zoning variance concerns. This was a significant red flag. It is the responsibility of any reputable contractor to verify all necessary permits and zoning requirements prior to issuing a formal proposal. We believe they had done this research but were attempting to use technical jargon to intimidate us into backing down. We investigated the variance claims ourselves and found them to be inapplicable. We confirmed with the local building department that a permit could be pulled, which we were more than willing to do. Despite all of this, Blue Nail still tried to walk away from the contract without valid justification. We were prepared for legal action after months of delays and an attempted breach of contract. Although Blue Nail eventually agreed to proceed, work didn't start until September, 4 months after our deposit. Issues: Recurring Leaks: Blue Nail had to return three times to address water intrusion in the same area--raising real concerns about long-term structural damage. As roofing contractors, your main job is to create an impervious barrier between the structure of the house and the elements. This shouldn't be an issue, let alone a recurring issue. Improper EPDM Installation: The membrane over our newly renovated bathroom was not secured to the plywood substrate. My father saw it lifting in the wind, leaving raw plywood exposed to the elements. This is an inexcusable oversight that could lead to serious water damage. We completely gut renovated this bathroom and included many layers of insulation, therefore it is hard to know if there was any immediate damage without opening up the brand new gypsum ceiling. Exterior Staircase: The debris removal process caused deep gouges and scrapes--well beyond surface damage--on our back staircase. A third-floor interior ceiling was also damaged during post installation. Cosmetic Fixes: They repainted the stairs but left a large paint stain on our concrete pad. Minor damage, but emblematic of a careless approach. Dumpster placement: the dumpster was placed on an angle in the middle of the driveway, blocking our cars in the garage making us unable to drive to work. Change Order for Soffits: They discovered extensive rot during the roof removal. We agreed to pay for repairs, but the price seemed unreasonably high. We suspect the quote was inflated due to the contentious nature of our prior interactions.

Within 5 minutes of the consult I was quoted at $20,000 for just the removal of the stone siding, which is only on the front portion of my home. It is roughly a 1,800 square foot home, so pretty modest in size. I was floored at the astronomical cost for just the removal of one side. I obviously cut the consult short and wished them the best. By far the most outrageous and highest quote I received thus far.
