Our DD enjoying her practice

Love this place. Definitely the best ice skating rink in central Florida. The trainers are very nice and professional, we are practicing with Mr Chris Thombs and he is amazing. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean and there are good choice of food and coffee at the cafe.

RDV Sportsplex Ice Den is a fantastic ice skating facility in Central Florida, with two rinks (one Olympic and the other NHL sizes). It is a well maintained facility and has a great Pro Shop that offers skate sharpening and skates, sticks, and equipment for sale or special order. They have skating lessons, hockey and figure skating programs, and can host parties in one of their private rooms. Their Public Skating sessions are a blast with friends, so check their schedule on their website!

Book the birthday party package for my Daughters 11th birthday. I won't lie! It took a while to get in touch with the person in charge of booking, but once I did, everything was smooth sailing. We had been here once before for another party but this was a really good experience. My daughter, her friends and family that we invited all enjoyed themselves and made wonderful memories. You will have to bring your own table cloth eating utensils and cake. Which wasn't a problem at all. I am so happy. That had the times down to a T. I can't wait to go again just to skate. FYI make sure if you go, to dress warm

What a great pass time! I love how spacious it is. This is not a tiny rink but it seems to be kid friendly too. I think I found a new hobby! I wish it were open longer. Make sure to look at the times public skating is available!

Looking for some different indoor fun activities! This complex has year round ice skating!

I'm reviewing specifically as a hockey parent. I really enjoy the RDV Ice Den! My son participates in hockey there and it's nice just to have an ice rink nearby. The staff members are friendly and the facility offers a wide range of skating programs. They have a nice retail pro shop on site which is great when you run out of hockey tape or need your skates sharpened. Besides hockey and figure skating, the RDV also offers "Kids Skate Out" (formally Kids Night Out) every other week which frees up a Friday night for parents. It's $30 from 6-11pm for skating, pizza, a craft and movie. Technically they require a 24 hour notice but we have taken our son in the day of with no problem. RDV will cancel Kids Skate Out if a minimum number of kids don't sign up. The only con to us is that there aren't enough hockey coaches so hockey parents (those of which used to play) are often recruited and don't get to see their own kids play. I guess it's like this in most sports. As I always comment on the restrooms in most of my reviews, the RDV restrooms are spacious and clean! Here's a tip: sign up for email alerts so you can be up to date on the latest RDV events.

Pro Shop entrance.

The Ice Den Pro Shop is the only true hockey store around that I know of. You can find some gear at Play It Again Sports, but the quality isn't the same as the Pro Shop. With that in mind, you shouldn't be surprised to hear that the Ice Den Pro Shop is pretty pricey. I don't place Ice myself, I only play dek hockey. That means I'm not failure with prices on skates or skate sharpening or anything related to the ice. I really go for sticks and tape, and possibly gloves and shin pads if I need an upgrade. Sticks will run anywhere from $50-$300. That's kind of the norm though unless you're buying multipacks online. Tape is pretty cheap (compared to other local stores) at $3.00 a roll. It's also worth noting that the Pro Shop is the only place you can definitely find tape at any given time. The Pro Shop also carries a fair amount of outfits and supplies for figure skaters. You can also find some NHL and Orlando Solar Bears merchandise here. If you're looking for Solar Bears shirts, hats, jerseys, or whatever and don't want to pay the shipping online, just come in and get it here.

The RDV Ice Den is truly one of the best rinks in Florida. From the friendly staff in the pro shop to helpful employees, we had a great experience at RDV. I Iook forward to visiting every time the rink is on our schedule. Keep up the great job!

We took our daughter here recently to get some wiggles out and just enjoy learning a new skill. She's only been skating a few times around our neighborhood and we thought that this would be an immersive way to get her into the hobby. Definitely check out their calendar of events and when they have good offers and deals. You're likely to score a cheaper price than regular pricing if you pay attention. They also have themed nights and exclusive school nights. You can bring your own skates but you'll need to make sure that they pass the skate check. They do have some limitations on skates you bring in to ensure that their floors don't get torn up. As a side note you'll also want to make sure you bring in identification for all adults, and leave any food or drinks that come from outside in your car. Learned both of these the hard way. They have a smaller child skating area that helps them learn before they get out onto the bigger floor. Our daughter enjoyed this so that she had a little bit of time to learn before being thrown into a large space. We did have her try out the large space after about an hour of practice. They also have a limited number of arcade games, a small cafe, and a birthday party room. Overall: A Well it is a bit dated and could use some upgrades, it brings with it all the nostalgia of my childhood so it was still a win. I would definitely come back for a visit but try again on a non weekend day when the pricing is a little bit lower.

I was terrified to run someone over. On top of that, the rink is just not in great shape, as evidenced by: With what must have been close to a couple hundred people crammed into the building between parents and kids. One of the main doors to get into the rink area was marked as broken, and it caused a lot of issues trying to enter and exit, and confusion over whether both doors of the set were broken or just one, as the signage and cone was only on one of them. The entry to the ice itself is tiny and easily blocked by one person, let alone people also to exit the ice. Water was dripping from the rafters onto my skate bag. The rental skates are in BAD condition, like, I'm aware that rentals aren't good but most of these were nasty and should have been replaced already. And because of the massive crowd and gift tables from the parties there was basically no place to sit and put skates on. It was a couple of our kids' first time skating and I wish I'd have just taken them to one of the other rinks nearby, but I wanted to have access to a walker for any of them that wanted to use it. On that note, I purchased a walker rental but I was not given the correct color wristband to get one, so actually getting the walker was more challenging than it needed to be. For this..."experience", we paid a little more than $70. Maybe it's better on a weekday but I can't say I'm very excited to go back and see if that's true or not after the experience we had today. It kind of feels like we survived an incident rather than had a fun family outing.

The staff was friendly enough, but I did think they nickel and domed you. Like if kids are skating, they will rent you a kind of walker to help keep them upright. The party area was two tables, one for each party. The people hosting it said it was two hundred and fifty dollars for ten kids, so twenty-five dollars a head, not a terrible price, but I didn't think they gave a lot for the money. Now that I have some kids, there is always the constant need to find ways for them to burn off energy that doesn't cost a small fortune - welcome to the Skate Factory. Located in Vero Beach, it is a bit of a ride for us, but worth the trip. This is an old-school skating rink complete with 80's music and disco ball! The floor is in excellent shape, and there are skates for rent for those in need. They have a lot of different themed days / /nights for all age groups - I have been there mostly weekend days because of the kids, but they have things such a free pizza night, adult night, Christian music night etc. - check their website for the rundown. Plenty of seating for those in your group who are there to watch, or don't feel like skating, and there is a small but functional food bar area that turns out some adequate snacks: Pizza, nachos, fries - the usual culprits. Food was very reasonably priced as well. For the beginners, there are "skate-mates" that you can rent which act sort of like a walker - gives the littles something to hold on to while they learn how to balance and move. We had no such thing when I was a kid and we ate a lot of pavement until we figured it out ha. Bring your own gear, or rent theirs- the rentals were all in good shape and got the job done. They have lockers available so you can store your more valuable items while you skate. Beyond the skating and food, there are some arcade games available and the restrooms were clean. Everyone working here is very friendly and helpful as well - so from start to finish just a great time out. Large parking lot in front.

Yes, you did hear me correctly... they have an ice skating rink here! Enter into the "Do you wanna build a snowman?" area and you'll find real ice everywhere along with buckets and shovels to help gather the snow. Make sure to be careful though (and watch your little ones) because the ice and snow are quite slippery. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oakens-frozen-funland-orlando#KyYKeJTFx5ECbo7-LqJxyQ If you want to try your hand (or feet, I should say) at ice skating, there is a $10 fee to do so which gives you 30 minutes on the ice. This fee includes skates, gloves, and a helmet. Skating is first come first serve and is open until 6pm. bookmarks folder "News" The workers come out every now and then with a small zamboni to remove the grooves and smooth the ice. I saw this done once and just afterwards, a couple of Arendelle citizens (a young man and woman) come out on the ice and skated for approximately 10 minutes. They are professional skaters and they skate along as a pair to some of the popular songs from Frozen. This is not listed in any of the guides, etc. Imagine my surprise when they hit the ice! I was excited to be there while this was going on. It was great to be able to watch! I absolutely love watching figure skating. You'll also find Olaf's snack stand inside here. Lots of yummy goodies! They have three different kinds of cupcakes: Elsa (white cake w/ buttercream icing) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oakens-frozen-funland-orlando#RlLfcPBcxh9DGIGMgQu6aA Anna (chocolate cake w/ buttercream icing) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oakens-frozen-funland-orlando#wVcDAPSmia-udBcAHUrQig and Olaf (carrot cake with cream cheese icing) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oakens-frozen-funland-orlando#NvGcUD3IKZAoFb-Rr2jgew Sprinkled on top of all three cupcakes are tiny edible snowflakes. There's a stick thing in the top of the Elsa and Anna cupcakes with their photos on them and at first I thought it was plastic and you just pulled it out. I laid it on my plate, but I kept touching it and it appeared to be smearing some. I asked my husband if it was edible. He said it was plastic. I told him I thought it was edible. He said, "Well, I'm not going to bite into it and break a tooth." So, after inspecting it some more, I finally gave it a slight bite and what do you know? It was white chocolate! Surprise! The one on top of the Anna cupcake is also white chocolate. I did take a photo of Olaf's cupcake, but I can't for the life of me remember if he is white chocolate or a marshmallow or what. I did hear people raving about how good the carrot cake cupcake is. Also, I really enjoyed my Elsa cupcake. The cake was perfectly moist and the buttercream was just the right amount of sweet without being over-powering. The cupcakes I had definitely can go neck and neck with some of the best cupcakes I've had from legit cupcake shops! They are also big; I had to eat mine with a fork. Also at the snack stand, you'll find a very special Olaf plastic cup which comes filled with a blue raspberry slushie http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oakens-frozen-funland-orlando#pUj-qdsNY34SvHoVJxcHoA SO GOOD! These cups are pretty awesome too. Because of the size of them and the way they are shaped (the lid also snaps on nice and tightly), we've been bringing them into the Parks empty (we have three of them) with cans or bottles of Pepsi. You can get free cups of ice at any QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) Stands and we've been pouring the ice into the Olaf cups for our Pepsi. Saves some $$ on buying Disney drinks, let me tell ya! I just wish you could get them refilled with the blue raspberry slushie at a discounted price. That's why we've ended up with three of the things... we can't get enough of the slushies. I'm sitting at work on a Friday afternoon, and a coworker asks me, "Do you want to watch hot girls…read morein lingerie play tackle football tonight?" ...I was offended he felt the need to ask. So, not knowing what to expect, we rolled down to the Citrus Bowl that night and became instant fans of the sport. Let's get that out of the way first. This is a real sport. More specifically, it's tackle football, coached by former NFL players/coaches, it has trades/free agency, and the girls are running real football plays with wide receivers shifting in motion and QB silent counts. One major difference between the LFL and standard football is the teams have to pass at least twice every set of downs to discourage teams from getting too run-happy. The end result is an exciting blend of beauty, brawn, bras, and panties. Our experience at the Citrus Bowl was fantastic. The stadium announcer did a good job of getting the crowd fired up, and they played a constant mix of Jock Jams to keep the party rolling at all times. My buddy and I were remarking that the music at the stadium was better than local radio. We heard songs like Get Ready For This, Whoomp There It Is, The Power, Welcome to the Jungle, Hip Hop Hooray, and Rock and Roll Part 2. Combine that with alcohol and sexy football, and it was good times! After the game, the Orlando Fantasy met with their fans to sign autographs and pose for pictures. The players were all down-to-earth, and that's just one of the many reasons why this sport is gaining in popularity. I'm not a fan of fantasy football, but I am a fan of Orlando Fantasy football. If you want to learn more about it, like the Facebook page for the LFL. You can also watch the games on MTV2 on Friday nights. It's nearing the end of the regular season now, which leads into the playoffs and ultimately the Lingerie Bowl which coincides with the Super Bowl.
