Roll bounce no matter your age at Astro skate ! This was a fun PTA event that brought students , parents and teachers out for a fun time on the rink ! I love that they had trainers for those that are to jazzy on the skates yet . Skates are a bit old but the kids didn't care as they enjoyed themselves and loved the games played on their skates. Admission was $10 and included skate rental , there is a concession stand for pizza , snacks and drinks and the facility was clean. 3 Stars for a fun skate experience for kids that does the job... Astro Skate is not a looker from outside (hot pink painted building with a hot pink spray painted old school bus parked beside it), but it was packed on the Saturday we were there for a kid's birthday party, so they're not hurting for business. Skaters check-in at the front and pay for their skates and a roller skating trainer (some PVC pipes with wheels that rents for $5 a pop and proved invaluable to most of the kids at the party). You're then buzzed into the main area where there's a bar with pizza oven, an area with tables for parties, a practice room, and the big skating rink. It's all pretty dated, but that kind of works for the nostalgia that is evoked at a roller skating rink. I didn't try the pizza, but had a french fry or two and they were surprisingly good. The main event aka the skating rink: The music is fun, there are black lights everywhere, and everyone was respecting the single direction of skating, which was great because kids were everywhere! They even had a bounce house at one end of the rink! At one point they called everyone to the center to make a circle and bring out the big mascot: Party Panda. These kids were HYPED and instructed to cheer as the masked character skated out onto the rink. I have to be honest, it was comical how unenthused the hot pink panda was as they slowly skated to the center and barely lifted their hand high enough to give the kids high fives when instructed. It was truly something out of a movie (lol). I guess even mascots have bad days? It was a bummer for the kids though and definitely a WHOMP WHOMP moment after all the hype for Party Panda. Overall, it was fine and the kids had a great time. Would I return for a date night or find a more updated rink? Probably the latter. read more

Went here for a fun date night and had a great time! The neon artwork on the walls really set a cool vibe, and the retro music added to the nostalgic feel of the place. It's definitely a fun, lively spot, there were a lot of birthday parties happening, and I could see it being a great venue for a kids' birthday celebration. The arcade games are a nice touch, and they even do fun activities like limbo on the rink. The only downside was the wait for skates, it took a while to get ours. Unfortunately, the only in-line skates available in my size had a broken buckle, which made skating a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, it was a really enjoyable experience and I'd definitely consider coming back! read more

Love it here! The rink is big and has a smaller mini rink in the back to the right of the food area (behind the dj booth). The mini rink kind of looks like a dance floor but it's big enough to practice your moves. The pizza is honestly one of the best I've had in Florida (and I'm from NYC). And sometimes they do $1 pizza slices. The staff in pink shirts are nice, however, if you're there late after an adult session, the adults, not so much. They hold skate classes at 9 AM on Saturdays and the coaches are awesome. Adult nights are Wed (shuffle skating), Thurs (rhythm skating), Sat (Roll Bounce), and Sun (Soul Roll). If you're an adult go skate on Wednesday night but DEFINITELY Thursday night for Rhythm Night. When kids are skating on the floor it can get a little chaotic. Some tips: if you're slow, make your way towards the center, I know it doesn't seem right but it's the system. Wear tall socks, your ankles will thank you. BEND YOUR KNEES, it should feel like you're doing a squat without leaning forward. If you feel like you'll fall, get low and bendy or reach for your knees. Have fun! Be safe! read more

My church youth group decided to have a girls night out here. When I parked, I began to second guess myself and my sanity for being willing to go to a roller rink for the first time in over 20 years. There was a crowd of teens ready with skates in hand to have fun with their friends. Apparently Friday night can have a crowd of up to 500. I was a bit apprehensive about it but they had two police officers on hand to ensure that the rink is safe and secure. We went to the window to turn in our shoes for skates. This was a frustrating process because there was no line. It was a blob of bodies crowding the window and there was no designation of if you were picking up skates or dropping off. I think that it would be helpful in streamlining the whole process. I literally spent 20 minutes waiting for skates then another 20 minutes trying to drop off my skates and get my shoes back. Part of the reason for the delay also was due to people getting their skates and putt putting them on in front of the window versus going off to one of the nearby benches. The music was good, the skates were ok. It's better to bring your own. There are around 10-15 arcade games, bouncy house and a cafe. There was a dark room near the cafe that was a "dance room". This room is dark and I felt inappropriate for safety. The pizza looked great and tasted good. Among favorite food choices are also mini churros and French fries. I'm on the fence about whether or not I will bring my girls here or suggest a group outing here. If I do it wouldn't be on a Friday night. read more

Astro skate was great for beginners, but it's best to visit on a day when it's not too busy. Learning to skate with too many people around can be challenging. I went with friends who were also beginners, and the staff was friendly. They allowed us to use a small room to practice before moving to the bigger one, which was very helpful. Overall, I had a great experience at the skate place and would recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to skate. read more

My 10-yr old school had an event here last Thursday and she loved roller skating so much she asked to go again. This time on Saturday (super cold day AND Saturday). We arrived at 3pm snd the parking lot, which is pretty big, was almost full. We paid admission for 2 roller skaters + skates and added $5 to rent a sort of "walker" for beginners as this was the 2nd time my little one roller skated. All in it was $27. Them we picked up the roller skates which seemed to be in pretty good condition and in spite of how packed it was they had all sizes Since it was peak hour for many bday parties + indoor type of day it was too packed to stay too long. I'd recommend a weekday if at all possible. The music was fun, the MC was animated and overall we had fun. It was just too crowded for us to truly enjoy it as a pair of beginners. read more

Very busy skating rink on Sunday evenings but lots of fun and energy. For $5.00 how can you go wrong and that includes your skates! The floor is great! Slicker than I remember comparing the floor from about 30 years ago! The lights are fun, people even had on skates with wheels that lite up. I thought they were extra fabulous! They have a super fun black light dance room if you are tired of skating and a nice big eating area. The pizza is basic toppings but very tasty. Prices are good and the staff works very hard (especially the snack bar staff because that is always a madhouse!) but every time I come here it's just so unorganized and stressful. Bathrooms are disgusting and they are always out of paper towels and soap so you know no one is washing their hands after they go They don't enforce their own rules and will let groups of kids skate holding hands, or skate against the flow of traffic. I'm also pretty annoyed that I came on a Tuesday to let my daughter skate while her school was closed and she wasn't allowed, even though there is NOTHING on the website about Tuesday morning skate being 18+. The guy at the counter said it was "elderly skate" and I was "getting dirty looks" so he couldn't let us skate. He turned away another family with kids right after me. read more

Well as roller rinks go, I can't compare this to many.. as a kid we went to one, this is kinda like it.. but maybe not quite as dark.. and they don't have old Johnny who used to slap your hand as you went by.. the snack bar is okay and the vending machines and the air conditioner definitely works!! We for invited to hang out with my friend and her kids. My daughter had been asking to go skating for ever! We went on a Wednesday evening and from 6-6:30 they do skating lessons then you can skate from 6:30-8. They gave free pizza for the kids and adults that paid to get it which I thought was a deal. Drinks and other food was available for purchase. It's your typical entertainment finger foods and snacks. Everything is was cooked to order so you can expect a wait if they are busy. The staff were friendly and even with the small amount of ppl they had working they were getting it done efficiently. My kids loved skating. They also had an indoor bouncy house and some arcade games (a few were out of order) they had a contest for most red that night (it was Valentine's Day theme) and the winner I think got a party for free. We will definitely be back as it gave me nostalgia when I was a kid skating. And it was some good kid fun read more

Everyone was waiting for them to turn the lights off and when they finally did...they didn't stay off for long which was disappointing. My husband is in a wheelchair which this skating rink is not wheelchair compliant- they do not have a wheelchair ramp. My husband had to have a stranger help him up the curb to get inside. My husband took our daughter here on 3/19/22 for the "Learn To Skate Class" at 9am-10am which was supposed to be $9 & included skates. My daughter got a pair of speed skates which was suppose to be a difference of $1 totaling $10 which was what we spent the week prior. The cashier charged $13 ($9 + $4) which is not correct. This review is solely on skating. It's a fun afternoon activity fun for the whole family. On Sunday it was $2 skate plus skates. Very reasonable. The one thing I don't like is 3.5% service fee for credit cards. Word to wise if you have big feet go early because they sell out of larger size skates. The music was jamming and lots of fun. I've been going to Astro quite a few times and it's been an experience that unfortunately quickly soured. While it is certainly not a terrible place, it has a lot of flaws and inconsistencies that keep it average at best. In general, it's a good facility. Affordable, a well maintained floor, and love it or hate it they keep their vibrant theme well. The operations/management is where it fails. Entry: -payment methods inconsistent. They utilize the Clover platform which means almost all credit cards and ways to pay are accepted- however depending on the percentage rates will reflect whether they accept a card one day or another. When I first experienced this I was told they can't take the card, I explained I'd been using it last few days and can even show the charge on my statement and the cashier said that they meant they won't take the card. They said they'd be telling the manager that the person working prior days let me use a Discover card and that the employee should be getting in trouble for it. What a lovely coworker. -if you're admission is under $5, they will add a skate rental fee to make your total over $5. I understand this is a bit of a common practice with small businesses, however there is no signage or mention of this policy online or even in person making this an unfortunate surprise if you happen to come on a cheap day and brought your own skates. Snack bar: -I was surprised to find that the food is actually affordable, and you can even watch them press the pizza dough and create the pizzas in house. Unfortunately it's hard to enjoy because there is a single cashier handling transactions and getting orders together. The line is often a solid 20+ minute wait. -this is a place of activity and exercise so it's important to hydrate. But expect to pay up! No outside drinks allowed, the water fountain has been permanently "broken" for a while now, and if you want a cup of water it's going to cost you-both time and money. Rec facilities should make water easy access and not force people to pay up- dehydration is dangerous on a variety of levels. Skate rental: straightforward: give them your shoes they'll give you the skates you're renting. When done give them skates and the give your shoes back. Simple right? -skates are definitely not sanitized. You've seen at bowling alleys I'm sure that when shoes are returned they are sprayed inside. Astro takes the skates puts them back on shelf and gives them to next person. Now they might be doing a sanitizer after hours or something, however if you watch it doesn't seem like it. Some nights are super busy, so skates will be put back on shelves then taken down again for the next in the size. Is it really that difficult to quickly spray shoes each return? -the answer is yes. Because they do not have proper staffing so it isn't really possible to keep the rental line moving if they're constantly stopping even for a second to spray. This was probably the biggest woah and showed how management seriously needs to have an overhaul. You'd think when a skate segment ends (aka 3-5pm) you'd have more staff at the end when everyone clearly needs to return their skates. There have been times just a single person is trying to jungle the hoard of people trying to get their shoes and go. The other day it was 5pm, everyone was in line to return and the one guy working suddenly pointed to his watch and said his shift was over. And left. We all stood there not sure if was a weird joke but when it was clear he wasn't coming back the manager was seen nearby and someone told him what happened and his response? "he's on break." I'll let you, dear reader, think of how this could have been better handled. Only after the manager was told by the customers if he doesn't have an employee behind the counter than he should do it himself, did he rearrange people actually working to put people behind the counter. Rink/events: nice mix of themed skate times and attempts to add other entertainment however: -keep in mind times are often limited to 2 hours. After that you need to sometimes pay to stay for another time block. Not bad but they do force everyone off the rink about 3 times per block to do other entertainment. Usually a Panda dance party, a freestyle dance party, and then a skate event (race, speed, etc) so if you're hoping for nonstop skate you might be disappointed. I'm restricted to how much I can write but those are the main points to consider. Happy skating, and may management improve! read more

We live a hour away and there are closer skating rings to our home but this is where my daughter wanted to have her birthday day. There was some confusion getting into the door as it was Saturday night. Also there was no trainers available for those at the party who needed them. This place has been an Orlando institution long before it was the pink all over Astro Skate. At some point in the past few years, it was rebranded, freshened up, and is definitely pink. We have come here on occasion for school skate nights. Some of the more interesting aspects, they have a large inflatable playground on the end of the skate floor. Positively, it is something to do other than skate. Negatively, it hogs up precious room on the actual skating floor. Overall, the place is clean, the music is good, and the lighting is nice. One neat thing they have here are what I can best describe as roller skate walkers. These things basically help young skaters balance as they hold on to them and are on wheels. Super helpful for very novice young skaters, but get too many of them out there, and super hard to avoid as they are quite large. Between that and the inflatable playground, you see how the smaller amount of room on the skating floor can be problematic if it is crowded. Overall, a cool spot to skate, kids will love it more than adults. read more

Hire employees who are capable of working with children of all abilities, especially those with special needs. We paid you to keep our daughter safe and we learned of an incident involving my daughter and two adult non campers who were in no way affiliated with the camp and were part of the general public. Your employees never informed me of the situation and instead chose to hide it. I learned of the incident through another parent who WITNESSED it and after speaking with your assistant manager, "Vee" (who refused to spell her name) confirmed the incident had occured and admitted to the failure to communicate same. Your company negligently placed my daughter in harms way and then accused my special needs child of needing to be "potty trained." I can assure you that she is. She had an accident, which only happens when she is experiencing severe emotional distress. If she was in distress, your employees should have notified me immediately and I would have picked her up. The last time I used your camp (spring break) you had campers running around in the bathroom unsupervised. I know that because I was in the bathroom when a male staff member asked me to help him get the campers out of the bathroom because no female staff member was present. I made a huge mistake bringing my child here again, but I had to return to work to provide for my household and I had no other option. Your company never called me to notify that something was wrong. Instead you collect our money and leave young adults in charge of keeping the children safe. Vee called me and asked me to bring her a change of clothes and then said that your company changed your mind and advised that she had been "expelled," for non disciplinary reasons. I have been going to Astro since before it became under new management for nearly 20 years and I will never return and subject my child to the neglect that she experienced with your company. Your assistant manager has zero customer service skills and she should receive training on how to speak with and about special needs children. Update - Your assistant manager provided a fake name over the phone. Meghan Victoria Murphy is your assistant manager and you should really consider the type of people you're hiring who are inclined to be dishonest to a customer. read more

This Fun Center packs some fun indeed. The nearby schools host events here and that's how I've made my way in. Besides the skate ring, there are some arcade machines (some of them don't work) and there is a pizza/fries/sodas counter. It is not an upscale experience, although it may have been 50 years ago. If you are into taking your date to Mickie D's, this is right up your alley. Otherwise, just go with the flow. Everyone is nice and I've never had complains. Really good for teens. read more

I felt like a kid again roller skating here. I had a blast with the music and my hair blowing. I was even dancing a little while skating. I used to go roller skating every weekend with my sister when I was a kid. I've only been roller skating a few times as an adult. They played new and old school music. See their website for the open skate days, family nights and adult only nights. My 5 year old son had never been to a skating rink before so he used the wheeled walker they have available. He was falling down a lot at first even with the walker. He got frustrated, sat down on a bench and pouted for a moment. But I convinced him to try again on a carpeted area where no one was around. He practiced for a moment and felt better. I encouraged him and explained how everything takes practice. He went back out in the skating rink with the walker. He ended up skating around the skating rink with the walker 14 more times! He was counting it. He only fell a couple more times. We took turns skating slow next to him. He then was smiling and having fun. He said he wants to come back. Woot woot. . Cons: 1) The rental skates look original from the 1990's and my skate laces were frayed. 2) The are some worn out areas inside the building that could use some updating. The toilets were also separated from the sinks in the bathroom. The sinks were in an open sink area where everyone can see you wash your hands. Why? 3) The first part when you pay at the entrance had a line going outside the door. Maybe this step could be made more efficient? But we still had a fun time. read more

My first visit to Astro Skating with the kids and it was just ok. I wanted to give them a higher score as the rink is pretty big and they have a nice variety of games plus a bounce house, but it was a tad unorganized. I spent more time in lines ( for skates, for food and skate return) than I did enjoying time spent with my children. There was only one person working the skate line for the entire crowd. Your personal shoes are held in place of the skates you borrow, so you MUST stand in another long line just to get your shoes back, perhaps there should be too people working thos area. The line to get food was incredibly long and slow moving, however the food wasnt too bad, the classic chicken wings were cooked to perfection with a good classic flavor. If I could give zero stars I would. I went skating with my younger sister today and this guy kept touching her because he kept "falling". He made her very uncomfortable. He also flipped her off and acted like it was her fault. I cannot believe you guys allow people who act like this into your rink. This completely unacceptable from a place like this. Also the lack of staff is also completely unacceptable to begin with. There are no safety measures which is completely insane. What kind of unprofessional business are you running?! Was over to bring the kids to celebrate a birthday. It was a nice floor, but it did get crowded. The price is reasonable to get into the place and you can bring your own skates too. We did not try any of the snack bar food since we were there after lunch and left before dinner. The woman's bathrooms were in quite the dis-repair. Two of the 5 stalls had cones blocking them off for use and the others were not very clean. The sinks are common are in the front between the men's and woman's restrooms. They played good music and it was fun, but since on the other side of town for us not sure when I would get back. read more
