Came in one day by chance of being in the neighborhood. This shop focuses on modern remakes of vintage shoe designs; from high heels to wedges to boots and sandals!! These shoes spoke to me as a vintage lover and the leather used is incredibly soft. The worker was very nice and polite and I tried on 4 pairs before deciding on which pair I wanted to opt for. He mentioned how these shoes are often used in Hollywood TV/movies for both vintage period pieces as well as modern media. He also mentioned that their shoes are often purchased by dancers for their ease of use and comfort and I got them for their comfort so I can absolutely see someone dancing the night away in these! read more

I found just the right pair of dance shoes today and am a repeat Re-Mix patron, but the customer service was weird. We were the only patrons in the store at that moment. She graciously gave us all the help we needed for sizing and bringing out pairs until we were ready to purchase but made some strange comments along the way that made me double check how Re-Mix advertises itself. First off, if I'm asking how much something is, I think it's a little rude to direct me back to the display shoe instead of looking it up (which she offered to do afterwards). Second, we came here specially for swing dance shoes, many folks in the community wear them for that purpose and yes, your own store page immediately acknowledges how much dancers use these shoes. It's not like every shoe in that store has the leather bottom for easy pivoting. But to tell us "well, these aren't meant to be dancer shoes, you guys just use them for that purpose" was also weird. It reminded my non-dancing friend of something out of Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm. read more

I finally got a pair of remix shoes! I am glad I waited to go in person, because one pair I really liked ran small and I was a 9, and the others I was an 8.5. I was looking for both costume shoes for work and dance shoes, also choosing between basic and fancy. The saleswoman was very helpful. Parking in the middle of the day on a weekday was very doable at the meters, which was a concern of mine. I ended up going for dressier shoes this time for costumes but will def be back for a solid pair for more casual social dancing. I am so glad this storefront is here. read more

I've been a fan of Re-Mix shoes for a few years now, and was lucky enough to find a pair here and there second-hand, and was thrilled to finally visit their storefront! The shop is small, but open, and all of their styles are out on display and in clear view. The staff was super helpful, pulling each style I asked for, and in multiple sizes. The staff was also very knowledgeable about their inventory, and were able to tell me right off the bat if they had my size in stock. Ultimately I walked out with three pairs of shoes. As for the shoes themselves, they are all of wonderful quality, of leather uppers and often leather soles as well. Due to style needs, shoes vary in production location. Some are made in Spain, while others are made in Mexico and China, but I have never had a pair fail on me, so I will continue to buy from Re-Mix. read more

He has been at this location for 14 years, and currently uses vintage styles as inspiration for his own designs of handcrafted leather shoes. Re-Mix did all the shoes for the Broadway production of "A Color Purple", I was told. How cool. The interior of this small shop is charmingly quirky & eclectic, like the proprietor himself, whom I will visit again some Sunday. Prices of the shoes I tried on ranged from a $95 sale price to around $160. I didn't find anything to suit my needs, but I had a lovely time nonetheless. read more

I have done business with this company since 2008 and I'm so glad that I did. The people who run this company are reliable and eager to help. They also sell my FAVORITE heels of all time, Hollywood Stilettos a.k.a. Polly of California replicas. I have bought 3 styles from them (red leather, black leather and leopard print) and have been very pleased with each of my purchases. The store and shoe selections are all vintage inspired design. I live in Portland, bought a pair of shoes on a visit, and then after wearing them at home twice, discovered I had two mis-matched shoes! The colors weren't identical, and one shoe was 1/2 inch too long. I notified the store, and they sent me a new pair of the same shoes, plus a UPS label to send the mismatched pair back. If you live in L.A. I highly recommend trying on the shoes for size because I found out that I am a 7 in some styles and an 8 in others. The size charts on the website don't make sense to me anyway. Walked into the store and found Pearl to be a lovely clerk. I told her what I needed, shoes for work as well as to pair with my everyday vintage outfits. I told her I needed comfort and that I had issues with my left foot (plantar fasciitis). I must have tried on 20 pairs! Pearl was not only patient and helpful, she made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I never felt pressured. I had fun shopping and playing dress up (this is what it felt like). In terms of the shoes, I ended up walking away with four pairs. Yes it's pricey, however I needed good, strong, well made shoes that weren't going to cause my pf to act up again. The shoes are beautiful, comfortable, and surprisingly enough, very lightweight. Thanks to Pearl who guided me through all the options. I would highly recommend stopping by the store. I drove over an hour but glad I did as the service was great and the shoes I thought I wanted online were not the ones for me after trying them on. I will definitely save my money and go back. I want to like this place, I really do. Especially because I dropped some serious cash for a pair of vintage-inspired shoes to wear to my dance classes. They're gorgeous, but the two huge blisters on the back of my ankle aren't quite so pretty. In fact, they sting and they're bleeding. And kind of pustulent. And oozy. How's that for an attractive image? At the price I paid, I expect the leather to be like buttah. I've been coming here for years and I never leave empty handed because their quality and fit are amazing. Not to mention the color of leathers they use are beautiful! Paul and Pearl are the most helpful and fun sales associates there and I love hanging out with Pearl's dog Earl, he is just the sweetest! I know their shoes are not cheap, but you honestly get what you pay for here. Every time I mention Re-Mix someone inevitable says "But they're sooo expensive!". Seriously? They really aren't SOOOO expensive, they are just not CHEAP. The quality isn't cheap, so the price tag's not cheap, it's that simple. Whoever was at the shop when I arrived was very rude. I arrived two hours before they closed, and the shop owner/ employee was not anywhere to be seen. We knocked, called and even asked if anyone was there. After sitting there for 20 minutes he finally walked into the lobby. Normally this would not be an issue but immediately after walking out, he was very snarky and automatically assumed I had just walked in and didn't want to purchase anything. Did not even bother trying the shoes on that I wanted because of how rude his demeanor was. The shoes were not cheap $152-$182 approximately but I was more than willing to purchase a pair. Unfortunately he came out to the lobby with an attitude and insisted "If I actually looked at the shoes he might be able to help me," well I did but the service is enough to turn any customer away. Phil the manager (owner?) is also fantastic, knows oodles about fashion and shoes, and is a delight to chat with everytime I visit the store. They never make you feel pressured to buy anything, even if you're like me and ask to try on every single pair in the store! They are on the pricier side, but since you're investing in shoes that are versatile, beautiful, comfortable, and handmade, they are worth the pricetag. The people that work here are kind, but what made me want to write a 5-star review is the service I received regarding an issue with shoes a purchased a couple months prior. I thought it was the wear-and-tear from dancing in them but as months passed my little toe was slipping outside of one of the cutouts in the shoe. I brought them in and they quickly switched them out for a new pair! I was surprised by this--expected them to tell me there's nothing they can do about it. First, let me say that I have nothing against the shoes or the store. Their shoes are amazing and well crafted and I look forward to purchasing some. However, the customer service provided by the lady who works on Sunday afternoons, was absolutely horrendous (and nonexistent). I walked into the store on a Sunday afternoon, and was the only customer there. I had gone on their website and made a list of the shoes I wanted to try on, to see what they looked like in person, and make some decisions. When I explained this to her, she imidiately asked how many shoes I wanted to try on, and when I told her 10, she told me that she didn't want to get all those shoes from the back because it would be a lot of work for her. When I asked to try on the other foot of the pair I was wearing (a display shoe, so that I could feel how walking in them would be), she asked me why I needed to, if the left shoe fit, because she didn't want to fetch the other shoe. At that point I abandoned my list, since it was clear she had no interest in helping me with my decision, and though we left on good terms, I was absolutely appalled by how rude and up front she was about not wanting to do her job. Though I look forward to buying shoes from them, I will be actively avoiding the store when she is working. read more

I love vintage style, but I'm not too keen on wearing someone's old shoes. I knew about Re-mix and I made a point of checking them out when I was in LA a couple of years ago. At the time, I found the selection too overwhelming so I left without buying any shoes. This year, I had a some X-mas cash that I wanted to spend on shoes (thanks, Mom!) I remembered Re-mix, and I hopped on their website and fell in love with a 30's style pair with neat over-stitching details. You have to call them to place the order. Fortunately they are 2 hours ahead, so I was able to make an impulse purchase over the phone at almost 9pm. Pearl took my order, and she was extremely friendly and helpful. My shoes arrived at my doorstep much faster than I imagined. And the shoes? The quality and detailas are awesome, and they seem to be very comfortable. I meant to write this update a while back. After purchasing my cute Charlotte shoes I took them home and and wore them around the house for 30 minutes or so...I wanted to make sure that they were going to be comfortable and I also wanted to try them on with my wedding dress. Well about 10 minutes into wearing them I noticed that the side of the shoe was digging into my ankle bone. 30 minutes later I had to take them off..they were killing me! It may have just been wear the shoe hit on me personally and may be fine on someone else but there was no way I was going to be able to wear these all day and for 178$ I wanted semi-comfy shoes. I got online and looked up their return policy which says "Shoes may be returned within 10 days at purchaser's expense if un-worn for exchange or refund. No credit or refund on used merchandise" Great I had ten days. I decided I would make the trip back to LA from Laguna Hills the next day to return them. I get there and I am told there are no returns. I said but your return policy says 10 days for a refund. The lady tells me that is only for shoes bought online...um okay what's the difference?! Then she points to a tiny, TINY sign (maybe 3" by 3") on the wall to left of the cash register that says no refunds. One of two things would have been nice to happen.. 1. She would have told me of or pointed out the return policy before I bought the shoes..she knew I was very uncertain when I bought them for the wedding and I even mentioned when I bought them that I still wasn't sure but that I was going to go home and try them on with my dress. 2. They need to change what their return policy says on their website. It makes no mention that the 10 days is for online orders only. (Maybe it does now I'm not sure but it didn't when I checked last). Least to say I was very disappointed and frustrated. I was told I would receive store credit. I picked out a pair of Green Anita Shoes that were cute but not my dream wedding shoes. They have super cute stuff but there wasn't anything else in there that I was crazy about to wear on my wedding day. I didn't have the money to spend on another pair of shoes from somewhere else and to just keep my store credit to buy a pair on shoes just for the heck of it. I would never normally spend over 100$ for shoes...I wish I could but I can't. So I took my Anita shoes home and wore them out to get the mail to break them in a bit..I walked back in the house and must have brushed the front of the shoe on the step... a huge chunk of green leather scratched off to reveal bright white leather. So disappointed. I had to find a green sharpie to color in the spot. I emailed a complaint letter to the company with no-reply. Since my wedding I have worn the shoes maybe 10 times. Every time I wear them they scratch. You can run your fingernail across them and they will scratch. I don't understand why the leather underneath is bright white. Sigh.... sorry this is so long. I guess I was just really excited about this place and then really disappointed. I just need to ask everyone what their return policy is before I make such a big purchase. And while super cute and comfy I do not recommend the Anita Shoe from Vintage Re-Mix. Unless you are only wearing them inside on your carpeting..where they are safe. read more

Five stars for one of the best shoe shops in Los Angeles. Remix offers very well made vintage style shoes that are based on designs of the Edwardian era through the 1960s. I am usually a major heel wimp ( can not wear heels to save my life due to Fibromyalgia) but Remix's shoes are very comfortable and the first heels I have ever been able to wear without a lot of pain. Their sales people are very nice and paitient and their customer service is stellar. I am glad there is a company like them that makes vintage reproduction shoes since the originals are often hard to find in good condition! read more

Just popped in today for the first time. I went to a play last night and the lady next to me was wearing some awesome red wedges which she got at Remix. All the shoes are so stylish and way more comfortable than you would imagine. The leather is buttery soft on many of the shoes and they are made in SPAIN so you know they are better quality. The sales help is friendly and you can try on shoes to your hearts content. Most shoes are about $200 which is very reasonable for the unique styles and sturdiness. I restrained myself and only walked out with 3 pairs but I'll be back! read more

The hidden treasure! It is the most remarkable shop! Their vintage shoes are wonderful in quality, they have personality, color and they are incredibly comfortable! I discovered their product during the R&B festival in Vegas. From that time on I buy shoes only in Re-Mix. The service is great and very personable.... I moved to another country and I am waiting to get back to visit LA. I certainly will be getting a few pairs of shoes to last me until my next visit.
