Last Thursday we discovered that our water heater was leaking, and the water had gotten into nearby walls and caused mold to grow. I called Reactic Restoration on Friday, and Daniel Garza was able to inspect the damage that same day. Our house is older, so testing for asbestos was a standard part of the process; Daniel was able to get us in touch with an asbestos testing company that provides quick test results. That company got a tester to our house the next day (Saturday), and results were available Monday before noon. Fortunately, the tests showed that no asbestos was present. Daniel was able to assign someone to come to our house that same day, and set up dehumidifiers and plastic containment sheets with zipper doors, to seal the work zone, and to put down plastic to protect the carpet. On Tuesday, another team was able to remove the mold-affected wall materials, and wipe down the area with an excellent non-hazardous but effective disinfectant. They knew our preferred plumber was arriving at 1pm, and they were done with all work, including HEPA vacuuming and cleanup, before that time. The dehumidifiers are still set up, and will run for at least 48 hours. Daniel checked the area and the machines today (Wednesday), to make sure everything had been done correctly and that the dehumidifiers were working as intended. I am very happy with the service provided by Reactic Restoration. As Daniel kindly acknowledged on Friday, it's a shock to find mold in your house unexpectedly. It's been less than a week, and the mold is gone, and everything smells normal again! Everyone I encountered from Reactic was professional and kind. The work was fine, took photos and did the job. Scheduling was not as smooth. It took 2 trips to assess, the actual work, then the return trip to retrieve the equipment to dry the cleaned areas, a total of 4 trips. Appointments were hours late, they did not respect my time with their obvious disorganization (pick up supplies, lack of coordination of events). Improperly installed hardware in the sub-floor of our condo caused a leak into our downstairs neighbor's bathroom. There are no words to describe the dread and panic when we were told the sewage line in the crawlspace of our house had failed/cracked. I had reached out to a company to begin remediation as they were recommended by the plumbers who found the sewage leak. We had been waiting on their quote for more than 24hrs...and at that point, panic set in. So, I came to YELP. (Thank Goodness for Yelp!!) I sent out the SOS and got a bunch of responses...Alex at Reactic was in my message box in less than a minute! At my wits end, I cut to the chase and said, "Look, here's the situation... " I was ultimately connected to Nevo (I really hope I'm spelling that right) and he was able to pulled up the square footage of my house and got a footprint of the crawlspace. I got a quote in about 5 minutes. The amazing thing was...at 3pm he asked, "Do you want us there tonight or tomorrow?" WHAT??! They could have come out that SAME NIGHT?? And..i was still waiting on a quote from the other folks?! Sadly, I did not take them up on that offer because - my house and life felt like it was falling apart and I had to pull things together. I got the email quote/work agreement. I signed electronically and got a confirmation that a team would be there between 8-9am the next morning. At 8:13am, 2 vans and 3 technicians pulled up. We did a quick walk through and I just stayed out of their way. Super respectful technicians ..and they were super respectful of my home too! They worked non stop and only took a brief lunch to refuel and continue working. They weren't bothered by my dogs yapping at them either! We are now on the "drying" out part of the remediation...and if you had told me yesterday that I'd be on this side of this nightmarish cracked sewage line, I would not have believed you. I felt like I was put in the path of REALLY GOOD PEOPLE who were focused and were working to help get my house SAFE and FUNCTIONING again. We are almost there! As you can see from the response, the company lied again. I can provide documentation but at this point it's just not worth it. They bailed on my job because staff member had an emergency and they did not find anyone to replace it nor offer any solutions to my problem even though I had again moved all my contractors to accommodate their schedule. As I said before, stuff happens, it's part of business and part of life, but what is important is how you handle it. They have handled it with an enormous lack of honesty, transparency, kindness, and dignity. They are in a field, dealing with medically compromised people and yet they only serve their own interest. As you can see as well, there was never a decision for us not to work together, I simply asked them to find a suitable replacement and they refused. The disheartening thing is that they just keep lying. Shared values, etc. mean when you commit to do a job you do the job, that you are honest with your clients about what's going on and that you have dignity in following through on your contracts and commitments. I found mold in my crawlspace and had a company test to see how urgently it needed to be remediated. Upon finding out that it was quite necessary, I received four wildly different quotes from different companies. Reactic was very punctual when showing up for the initial estimate and honest about what was and wasn't necessary for my situation. He could have easily taken advantage of my ignorance and told me our situation (some mold on the wall, under a window, next to our son's bed) required any number of different things and taken my money. My wife and I, who live on the East Coast, are in the process of selling our mother-in-law's townhouse in the Bay Area. We were challenged with managing a kitchen renovation project from afar, but after months of hurdles, the kitchen was finally completed and the house was prepared for an open house.......the final piece for the GC was to connect the dishwasher, which of course leaked and caused significant water damage to the floor and surrounding drywall. My mom used Reactic Restoration for a bathroom loss she had a bit ago. I originally wasn't going to move forward with a claim, but their inspecting technician came out and used a moisture meter and infrared and discovered that the loss was quite a bit larger than what we originally noticed. The water had travelled behind the vanity, into the walk in closet and the living room/ kitchen area. They came out that same afternoon, on a weekend, to set up drying equipment and plastic walls to isolate the affected areas and worked with her insurance to ensure there was coverage. They took care of the mitigation and even helped with the repairs. My mom didn't have to really do anything to make everything happen. She met with the project manager to pick a new vanity, and everything else, they were able to match and rebuild the home to perfect condition. I couldn't be happier, because she was happy, and she is far from easy to please. Highly recommend, though I hope I never have to use them... I'm glad they're around in case I ever do. read more

Liel from Reactic Restoration was fabulous! We feel very lucky to have been able to work with him. We had a water leak in the wall between our bedroom and bathroom. We thought it was fairly minor - but decided to have Reactic come out to look at it, as they offer a free estimate. Liel ran the moisture detector over the wooden floor in the bedroom and the tile floor in the bathroom; the detector showed that the water had spread much farther than we had thought. Reactic arranged for lead and asbestos tests to be done, brought in heaters and blowers to dry out the floor, and took samples of the wood and tile floors to send in for insurance purposes. Liel was personable, and very informative; we appreciated his guidance. The bill for Reactic's work was sent directly to our insurance company, AAA, which made it very easy for us. The one downside - and the reason we gave them only 4 starts -is the office staff were not as fabulous as Liel; multiple times we would be told a technician would be arriving within a certain time window - but they wouldn't show up. We had multiple problems with water seeping in through the foundation, through an improperly installed sewage pump, and through the house's side walls. I had water damage to a wood floor in my kitchen due to a leaky water line. I called them to come out and give me an estimate for ripping out the warped floor and assessing the damage. About an hour after I made the appt., I found some workers to rip it out. I called and canceled the appt. The message wasn't delivered and the restoration expert showed up anyway. He arrived right after the workers got all the hardwood floor out. But he was very nice about the screw up and said everything looked fine to him, no damage to the subfloor, and no mold and no charge. read more
