Inside, the store gives a nostalgic feel, with a few old Underwood typewriters displayed to give even more an old-timey punch. I easily navigated my way through the store, seeing the different genre sections clearly posted (Poetry, Non-fiction, etc.). I bought two books at $17.95 ea, but found others that interested me at around $24.95 ea. Not all books are sticker price labeled...on older books, they write a price in pencil inside book on front page! As a local (Wisconsin) writer, it's nice to find a bookstore that offers selected writings in an atmospheric way that big chain-stores just cannot duplicate!

This small shop on the main street that cuts through town offers a glimpse into literary magic. They offer beautiful vintage and unique books that you won't find anywhere else. It was like a treasure hunt, looking to discover special books you didn't know you wanted - and some you have been looking for, for ages! The owner is just as special - so friendly and welcoming. It felt like I was visiting their home. They chatted about their love of books and easily assisted us on our hunt. Rare Vision Books is right next to Mama D's Coffee so you can plan a perfect afternoon of coffee and reading...

The owners are warm and welcoming and even provide a "wish list" notebook for customer requests. This shop, with Vintage Rescue next door, offers a delightful treasure hunting trip, followed by a stop at the Astra Coffee shop or Mil Colibris bakery and cafe a few doors down; or the Chunky Scones vegan bakery around the corner.

I arrived at 11 am as I thought that is when they opened. Turns out they opened next at 11 am ON WEDNESDAY (yesterday was Monday). I called the number on the door, and one of the owners was there in 10 minutes! I found a gorgeous antique menorah I will treasure. AFTER purchasing it and leaving the store, the owners texted me wonderful information they had researched about the piece without my even asking. The selection at Ravinia Books, Antiques Etc. is excellent but it's not as wonderful as the kindness and knowledge of the owners.
