The Berkly in the early years was the main ferry to get back and forth the boat teaffic would supply for Mr Spreckles was one of the largest businessmen the statue can br found at the bowling green park with Alonzo Horton one of the men that designed the gaslamp. The park is obe of the best places to come and see the many colors the park has music feztivals for the known artists tgey have art sh9ws with the mixture of art and the many paintings. Going to the Island you can take the ferry from the Broadway pier takes you overr to the village you can also take city buses tbat will take you to the park of the 901 bus. The park is located off orange that is near the many city buildings to the library and the restaurant row for the nany reztaurants from brwakfasts to piizza places. The day at Spreckles Park is one of the most beautiful parks that was built to the designers of San Diiego the dusiness of the early years that ypu would have to look towsrds Alonzo Horton and Spreckles. Anyone can use it, and reservations can be made for parties up to 150 people. There are no tables, benches, parking lot, or restroom facilities. The park is edged with engraved cement slabs bearing the names of La Jolla Shores residents and businesses that contibuted to creating this park in 1972, originally named Mata Park. These slabs form an open air time capsule from over 50 years ago. I found it very interesting going around reading them.

It is a nice patch of green grass that also has Pump Station 27 hidden away behind some fences and plants. I was lucky to find a parking spot in front of Laureate Park today so I could go to the beach. I noticed the park and since it is located near many of the great places to eat in the area, many people will picnic there or just hang out. There are some offices nearby and lunch time brings out a lot of the workers to enjoy the sunshine. Though Laureate Park is kind of smallish, I always applaud open spaces and green areas--especially in congested areas. Though one of the most beautiful beaches in all of San Diego is just a few blocks west, it is always great to have a nice little park like Laureate.

It's almost always…read moresparsely populated, has well maintained grounds, and also features separate spaces for playground, basketball, batting practice etc. Only downside is that some folks don't clean up well after their dogs, but mostly not an issue if you keep a sharp eye out and stick to the paved walkway I've really enjoyed jogging, walking and playing soccer here over the years due to the lack of crowds, cool breezes, fragrant eucalyptus and other shade trees, and nice walk path around the edge.

The only drawback to keep in mind was that I did not see any restrooms in the area, so it's more of a neighborhood park. Be careful with your kids since there is residential nearby and we noticed cars speeding past on this street. This is a nicely maintained area with a small bathroom, sink, and water fountain at the entrance of park. A couple of dog parks (one for big dogs, one for small dogs). One big play structure for the kids. A nice trail to walk around the playground and dog parks. It's nice to visit once but I thought it was too small for my kids. If a lot of kids are here, it would very chaotic.

My kids loved climbing on this & then we went back to the structures. Plenty of tables & benches for parents to sit. We even had a picnic together on one of the tables. Park seems pretty clean. My only complaint is I couldn't find a bathroom!! Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't see a bathroom anywhere on sight. Luckily the park is 2 blocks away from some stores, so make sure to have a potty break before coming here. It's a beautiful park in a nice neighborhood.
