one star for my agent. he hosted an open house once and when i came back i had damage to all floors of my home. he did not guide anyone throughout my home, i listened to him on a camera and he invited everyone in and said feel free to look around at your own pace. doors were damaged and towels where thrown out of linen closets. he denied it all and never apologized. do not use. your house will be damaged. read more

One star is more than this realty group deserves. We bought a home with Eddie as the sellers' representing broker. Not once throughout the entire process, that took from the beginning of March 2023 to the transfer of possession in June 2023, did any of our team ever talk with Eddie (who was listed on the closing docs and etc. as the broker). Instead, the entire process was done through his assistant, Liz, who clearly had very little experience, and frankly was not licensed to be a real estate agent. We saw the home during the first day of the open house, and sent in our offer the same day. It was a Saturday and Eddie/his team did not acknowledge our offer until Monday. Once our offer was accepted, we had to wait for the town inspection to take place, as well as our inspection and etc. Liz informed our agent that the town inspection had taken place and that they were waiting on the report to come back. We followed up for 2 weeks straight and after asking for a copy of the receipt to show that the inspection had been requested, we noticed that the date on the receipt was for that day we asked for it, not 2 weeks earlier. We called Liz out on her lie but tried to keep it civil. More time goes by and we are told the new town inspection won't take place for another week. At this point, I did not trust that they were going to be on-time and didn't want to delay closing. We had made it clear from the beginning that we wanted to close as soon as possible, and were told that the sellers wanted the same. After the inspection took place the report came back within DAYS. "Thank goodness", we thought! Now we can close and get possession on schedule! Nope! Now the appraisal keeps getting pushed back due to Liz/Eddie. Even the seller's attorney is not responding to us anymore. We start to get worried and start planning on what would happen if we withdrew our offer. We were fully ready to stop the sale and move on now that we have been in the process for over a month, our rate lock was about to expire, and we didn't want to pay $2k to cover extending it again. We knew that the process would take time but could not afford to lose the inspection money, plus the additional rate lock, plus try to convince our landlord to let us stay another month after we had already given notice. Finally, the appraisal gets scheduled and we are clear to close. But wait, now the sellers want to push back another 2 weeks because they haven't closed on their new home. Why was that not disclosed at the start??? They could have written it into the contract to protect the sellers. Fine, we are just grateful we are about to close, the sellers agreed to pay for our rate lock, we can wait. But no it can't be that easy, 2 weeks go by and we reach out again to confirm the transfer of possession. The day of we are told that they need to push back another week. What if we had movers scheduled? Would we be out of that money too?? We pushed back and suddenly they are able to transfer possession after the weekend. We show up to get the keys and meet the sellers. They were extremely kind! The funny thing is, Liz said throughout the entire process that the family only spoke Spanish, so we wouldn't be able to talk with them directly unless we did too. When we met the sellers they were fluent in English.... Also, Eddie purposefully turned his back to us when we closed at their office and we didn't even get to meet Liz in person. The EXTREME lack of professionalism is ridiculous. Not only will this group cost you time, they WILL cost you and whoever buys your home money. You will need to stay on top of them to do their job. They will provide no guidance to you. Run away. read more

We wanted to share our great experience selling our property with Erica Rivera. This was our third time going through a transaction of this sort having bought twice and this would be our first sale. Due to our past experiences we decided to interview Realtors before commiting to anyone because we wanted someone that was energetic and pro-active since we have felt in the past that we were doing the realtor's job. We came across Erica and met at our house, from the first meeting we felt her energy. Actually felt like this wasn't the first time working together. Once this journey started we actually realized we had made a great choice in our decision to work with Erica. After 24 hours of our house in the market we had booked the WHOLE week of tours and to our amazement every day we had qualifying offers. We decided to not accept anymore tours after that week since on the first day we had a $260k offer with the buyers willing to put cash over appraisal, which our asking price was $243k. To put this in perspective there was no comparables in our area selling for more than $235k with only one home sold at $240k in the last year. Even two houses in our block with the same exact floor plan of our house sold for $235k. We certainly were nervous our home wasn't going to appraise and were ready to not accept anything under our asking price. Even through this, Erica's confidence didn't seem to bend. Appraisal day came and certainly was a nervous day for us. Erica made sure to be at the appraisal prepared and ready to work. After two days we received a message we had to read twice! Our house was appraised at the whole offer!! Erica Rivera had made our house the most expensive 3bd/ 1bath house in the whole area selling for not just $17k over asking price but $25k over anyone else in our area!! Glad to say that we had found our family realtor and our days of shopping for a realtor are over!! read more

I'm writing this review as a warning so nobody else ends up where we were - which was literally at the closing table watching our home deal go up in smoke, wondering if we were going to have a place to live in 2 weeks time. That's how our interaction with Reality of Chicago ended and is a warning in itself, but for full details on our entire debacle with this agency and seller's agent Karen Giraldo, read on. From the beginning, communication with Karen was inconsistent and delayed. Long periods of radio silence, and things would only happen when hard deadlines were about to cause the deal to fall through. She lied to us and our agent multiple times - and yes, I do very much mean outright lies, telling us certain things were done which actually weren't being done. I'm not sure if she was simply repeating lies by the seller, but no due diligence was done on her part whatsoever to verify she was giving us accurate information (and we're talking about easily verified things, like if the stove was functional and hooked up to gas, because it wasn't upon original showing). This continued for about 6 frustrating weeks of attorney review, at which point we FINALLY thought we were ready to close, following a last-minute delay of our original closing date because things were unsurprisingly not in order, despite assurances by Realty of Chicago that they were. Despite all that, we finally reached the closing table. We had already wired over our down payment for the home, and everything was supposed to be ready to go. After signing forms for 2 hours and just as we were literally about to get keys to what was to be our house, we were told by Realty of Chicago that the seller couldn't afford to close on the deal due to money owed. So, despite them indicating everything was all set and good to go from the seller, and everything being good on our end - here we were, with 2 weeks to move out of our apartment, watching the deal evaporate in front of us due to Realty of Chicago not making sure the seller's funds were actually there prior to scheduling closing. That's where things more or less ended with them. While we are continuing our house search, anytime we see Realty of Chicago as the selling agency we immediately disqualify the home. Even if it's a place we like, it's not worth dealing with these clowns EVER again. If you choose to do so, best of luck that it turns our better for you, but you have been warned. read more

I have a concern as a resident of this great city and state. I have come across some, what appears to be advertising, that shows individuals in very expensive machines highlighting what profession they are in and how much they have made in the profession. Again, while sitting behind the wheel of what can be described as exotic vehicles. The country has taken quite the beating from a financial standpoint, but it appears that you have agents that seem to be defeating the financial odds in one of the more difficult real estate markets in recent history, but they seem to be earning what sounds like astronomical amounts. One individual stated that he has made 10 million in one year. It seems quite concerning that someone would state something so far fetched. Is it possible? I imagine, but I also imagine that it would exist more so in a more robust economy with much more acceptable mortgage rates then what banks are charging now. You are entitled to do and say whatever you desire. I would hope that it would be more realistic. So many people today lie for personal gain. It is done more so than not while targeting the vulnerable. A pipe dream at a time when innocent people are working hard to experience the American dream. At a time when many are taking a financial beating. Glorifying something in unrealistic terms strikes at being incredibly deceitful. read more

These people are taking money right out of your pockets. If you have a realtor, don't even bother trying to look at any of the homes they are listing. They will somehow be conveniently "off the market". I was trying to buy a home and knew the owner. When I contacted his realtor he was so willing to show me the home. Once I told him I was working with a realtor, everything changed. He even told me that the owner had already accepted another offer. I contacted the owner and he told me a different story. Every home we have requested to see somehow comes off the market for a few days and then poof back on. read more

Had to give 1 star to review but they didn't even deserve that. Right from the beginning Salvador (bay equity) was unresponsive i went in with my wife they ran my credit said i was approved for 250.000 and that was it, so 3 weeks go by and i finally called to see what happened because a realtor or someone was supposed to contact me to move forward. So the owner (reality of chicago) Eddie Garcia was contacted for the first time he must of lit a fire under someone because then we received a call from a realtor named Joshua from chicago reality nice enough guy but obviously over worked never returned calls wrong information given multiple times just seemed over worked and underappreciated lost numerous property's because of inconsistency from this group as a whole. Finally found a property we liked and was able to make an offer that got accepted we were told by Joshua that the closing amount we would have to bring to the table would be 2500 or less because of the credits the seller added due to previous years taxes and home repairs that the home inspector (which we paid 400) called out. Now this is our first rodeo never bought a house never been through this its all new to us, so when someone does this for years and for a living you tend to trust in what they say MISTAKE! So to make a already long story short basically the information the realtor told us was wrong and we needed almost 9 grand for closing which we didn't have and were not able to get anytime soon. Now during this time we were dealing with covid19 running through the house and a death in our immediate family due to the senseless gun violence in the city all this going on and the money i had in the bank is dwindling down because of time missed from work. We called,left messages, send text,emails texted the owner again for the 2nd time now trying to let someone anyone know what was going on and we would not be able to move forward with the loan and wanted the 1000 earnest money returned. At this time no one ever returned calls or answered any emails or text messages we were totally ghosted. At this point i know I'm not getting my money back I'm just going to take it as an expensive real estate lesson my hope is i can help someone thinking of trusting this agency and affiliates with their money and peace of mind buyer beware they are not first time buyer friendly never explained anything to us very unprofessional from the bottom to the top you have been warned. I will also be posting on consumer affairs and BBB and any other websites i can think of to warn people about this business. read more

I had an appointment with Eddie G. he never showed up never called to say he could not make it and when I called back the next day no answer I called again and had my call rejected with a text saying can I call you later. I text him back asking if I can get a appointment and someone actually shows up and to my surprise no reply this is the worst company I have ever dealt with never again. read more

Definitely do not recommend. These people are so hungry to make a buck they find every excuse in the book not to show people with their own realtors any homes listed under their realty. They want to make sure the pie isn't split. If you want to work with scammers, hire these guys. Otherwise, steer clear. This place definitely needs an investigation. read more

As first time home buyers, we were skeptic & scared as to which realtor company would be best for my husband, and I. We did our research, but couldn't decide as to which to pick. Until a really awesome friend of ours referred us to Realty Of Chicago, Located in Berwyn. And, we met our Realtor, David Diaz. Although it took 90days (not to mention during the holiday season)to find our home, we cannot complaint because David was beyond patient with us, accommodating, not to mention professional. We made us place our trust in him. Not only did he do an awesome job helping us find a home. A side from his professionalism, he is such wonderful, humble, & kind person. Although, towards the end he gave us a final fright, the night before our closing date (insight joke). We cannot imagine this awesome home buying journey with out David Diaz.
