The small turbo attachment on my Miele wasn't functioning well. I took it to another place in town and they informed me I needed a new belt. Took about 4 weeks to get the belt. Then I couldn't figure out how to install it. That shop didn't know either. Enter Leah at Rector's! She took it apart, determined it was not the belt at all but hair caught deep in the machine, causing the rotation to slow. She cleaned it out for me and got it going. I was able to return the belt to the first shop. Leah knows what she's doing and is honest and forthcoming with information. I really appreciated this so much. This shop will be my go-to from now on. Excellent service and knowledge! She also sells a great furniture polish that even works on stainless and granite. Bought a can of that and love it! read more

Brought in the old Miele to see if it was repairable. Via free estimate was told nope, too expensive to fix. Was on the fence on either a new Shark (elsewhere, $160) or an on sale Miele or Sebo (about $300+). When I went to pickup the old one, they showed me a used Miele ($100) with similar motor, etc. Done and thank you, Rector Vacuums! I went here on a on a lark, just to seen what they would have to say about my commercial vacuum that needed repair. They humored me by looking at it, and then realized that they actually had the part I needed, and were able to install it in minutes!! I was shocked but extremely happy! We bought our Miele vacuum at Rector's 15 years ago. When it stopped working recently, I returned to Rector's to see if it could be fixed. The new owner, Leah, was great to work with! She talked through my options of repair or purchasing something new and even offered the least expensive option of repairing my broken machine with a used part she found in her back room. EXCEPTIONAL! I have a 16 year-old Dyson vacuum. It has served me extremely well over the years. However, as of late, its performance and capability has been somewhat lacking. Upon the advice of some experienced, knowledgeable neighbors, I took my beloved, but ailing, Dyson and headed off to Rectors. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and cheerful "hello". I described my concerns and the gentleman proceeded with his inspection of my machine. He asked a few questions and it quickly became obvious he was very knowledgeable about Dyson vacuums. He predicted my machine's ailments and gave me a price estimate. Now, listen to this..... I was in this shop at approximately 2:30 pm. The very next day, at around noon, I received a call. My vacuum was repaired and ready for pickup! It hadn't even been 24 hours!!! When I arrived for pickup, the gentleman brought out machine and described the repairs that had been done and even showed me the old, worn-out parts. When I was presented with the bill, it listed everything that was done. It was exactly what was previously quoted to me. Great service! Recently needed to have my vacuum system serviced. I called Rector's and was given an appointment for the system. Steve came before he opened the store. He arrived promptly. He worked carefully -cleared the hoses, cleaned the filter and emptied the canister. It made a terrific difference in suction. Rectors was such a delight! we brought in our broken vaccume and they diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 30 mins! It was super cheap ($30) and they were very helpful and communicative about everything. they even showed us how to prevent the problem in the future and gave us a new belt for no cost!! So friendly, such a good experience. I don't hope that my vaccume breaks again but if it does I'll be back! read more

Rector's Vacuum shop is AWESOME. The nicest people with the best service in town. My buddy gave me a vacuum that uses these unusual bags I couldn't find anywhere. I stopped in on my way home from work and described the vacuum. They took a guess on what the bag would probably be and told me to give it a shot, and feel free to come back and exchange if it didn't work. Sure enough, it was not quite the right bag, so I loaded the vacuum into the back of the station wagon and just took it in the shop. Guy who runs the place (Steve, I think is his name?) took a look and found the exact right bag, did the exchange for me no problem. He said sure enough, my vacuum does use a pretty obscure bag - he only stocks a few at a time becauase they're so rare, but hey, he's got 'em! I love this shop and the friendly service they offer. This is a real Bellingham Gem, a locally owned business with great "above and beyond" service. Prices seem very comparable to "big box" stores too. If you need a new vacuum, or parts and service for your current machine, definitely head to Rector's. Great people. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more
