Piercers make commission on custom jewelry orders -- and when my $1K+ custom jewelry order arrived incorrectly for the 2nd time -- after shipping delays and multiple sizing issues that resulted from poor piercer-to-vendor communication (because Emily does not have an official order form for custom jewelry orders -- and if she does now, it's because I gave her the good business sense to make one) -- I decided to reach out directly to the vendor on Instagram to flag the problems. The vendor themselves asked me to follow up with them via email. I immediately shared that exchange with Emily and had previously asked Emily multiple times to simply loop me into her email thread with the vendor so I could stay informed and help resolve the issues we kept having. Instead, Emily refused, insisting on total control of the situation. That refusal wasn't based on process -- it was personal. I even asked her to loop me into a new email thread with the vendor where there was no pricing or commission details. I know from Reddit that top-notch, experienced piercers will loop in clients with the vendor proactively for placing custom orders to ensure the jewelry gets made correctly (my pieces were made incorrectly not just once, but twice) -- so what I was asking from Emily is well within the normal scope -- even for the piercing industry. I love this studio! I have gotten a couple of tattoos done by Casey, their junior artist and am always happy with his work! He is very respectful, always makes sure if you need breaks or anything and if you're like me and would prefer less conversation while being tattooed he's your guy! He's also very light handed and quick, when he tattooed my foot it felt like a walk in the park. I had the most amazing experience with Maria. I did a walk in after calling to confirm they take them during certain hours of the day. I was quickly greeted by an employee who had me take a seat while Maria finished up with another client. She was extremely detailed, knowledgeable, and patient as well as friendly. She helped me find a good spot for my double eyebrow piercings and took the time to inspect and feel my eyebrows to ensure proper placement. I took Maria's advice and had them done closer to my arch, even though I originally wanted them right in the center of my brows. She took the time to explain why this placement was a better choice and gave me details on what to expect before continuing, such as the size of the jewelry and healing process. I also called about a week later to ask for some advice because one of my brows was very inflamed and the owner, Emily, was so kind and informative on how to reduce the swelling. After just one day of following her instructions, my healing was back on track and the swelling went down immensely. I'm now 4 weeks into having my piercings and they look fantastic. Emilie calls to give some apology, throws Brandon under the bus, and tells me I'm going to be charged as a no show for piercing, because they are apparently contracted. She prides in being an owner and as I told her "then work it out with the piercing girl." As she replied "Well their time is valuable and now they can't book for my slot." As I told her "And my time is also valuable, lack of communication twice, my gas for showing up, your the owner, work it out." So yes my time here was not the greatest. So I had an appt scheduled today 9/8/21 at 12. I've had this appt schedule for months, paid a deposit of $60 to reserve, took a day off of work and I live 2.5 hours away. I drove all the way to find out the tattoo shop was closed due to flooding. I would have like to be notified of what was going on, to either reschedule my appt or make other arrangements. Now I'm out a day of work and my deposit and didn't receive my tattoo because you couldn't inform me of what was going on. If you schedule appts for clients, you should keep track of them and notify them of changes. It's common courtesy and customer service! I do not live in the area to know about the flooding nor do I have social media to have known what was going on. A tattoo is a big commitment so to find an artist that can take a vague idea and turn it into more than you imagined is talent. Brandon has completed two of my tattoos, one in progress, and one cover up. I have been blown away by his vision (of my ideas), talent, and skills, I love each one of my pieces. I had to have a mammogram so my barbells were removed. I couldn't get them back in the next day.
