We go to red bowl a lot. We always have a good experience with them. If you like sushi at a good price than go from 3:00-6:00 it is half-price. I love the shrimp tempura roll, the chicken tempura roll, the crunchy Florida roll, and the delacado roll. It is about the only sushi place I ever eat. read more

Been here many times now and always enjoy the food. Being an Asian Fusion place, they offer, Thai,Chinese, and Japanese dishes. The food is always fresh tasting and the restaurant is very clean. I hadn't been to Red Bowl in a long time so when I was craving some sushi I decided to stop back by. I went before the dinner rush and happily found out they were offering an early bird special on their bento box from 3pm to 6pm. The bento box included a choice of soup, drink (sweet tea or hot tea), choice of a few sushi rows, choice of a few different types of meats like teriyaki beef or hibachi chicken, choice of rice (fried, white, or brown), and a choice of a few salad choices or an egg roll. It's a lot of food for only $10.50! The service was great, food came hot and fast, and it was super affordable. I do wish the bathrooms were cleaner than they were, I went in to wash my hands before dinner and was not impressed. Overall Ill be back for the early dinner special! read more

Was not impressed at all with this place. Egg drop soup was warm at best and tasted horrible. I ordered some combo box meal. Teriyaki beef was not even close, I had to ask if it was stir-fry. The egg roll was soaked in the oil still and taste was fair at best. California rolls were ok, but it's hard to mess those up. Steamed rice was cold. The soft drink was good. The service was not that great either. Asked the bartender for a common drink and she didn't know how to make it. Like another reviewer said, I'm from California and still haven't found a good place for Asian food within driving distance to Lexington. read more

This Red Bowl has gone down hill. We used to go here because we enjoyed the Red Bowl in Greenville. I think Columbia's Red Bowl has a new owner. I smelled cigarette smoke coming from the kitchen and the server dismissed it like it was from the outside. I told her that I smelled it when walking past the kitchen doors. I eat here 4 or 5 times a month. The lunch specials are not tasty but are priced nice as well. The tangerine beef is excellent here. I also enjoy the Thai offerings and sushi. While Thai and sushi are better at an actual Thai restaurant or sushi bar, the fusion bowl fares welling these areas. We have tried this place twice. Just to make sure the first time wasn't just a bad day for the kitchen staff. Nope .. it was a normal (bad) kitchen day. Menu is over-load.. with so many selections.. how can they have a "special"? My husband ordered the sushi, he said it was ....ok. I wanted a Thai sweet/spicey sauce with shrimp, nope not on the menu. I ended up with over cooked, previously frozen shrimp. The sauce bottles at the table were filthy and we were afraid to use them, so no sauce at all. After this experience we wont be back. read more

Not what I expected. There are plenty of businesses around, so this should be a busy and well rounded lunch place. My wife and I arrived and got seated quickly. Besides us, 4 more tables where occupied. So not that busy after all. My wife ordered one of the lunch specials from the lunch menu and I ordered sushi. The sushi arrived within 5 minutes. 2 roles and an order of Ikura (salmon row). After 10 minutes of looking at my sushi and waiting for my wives food, the waitress informed us that the kitchen was in the middle of an health inspection and that my wifes food should arrive shortly. 10 minutes later we canceled my wives dish and shared the sushi. The roles were good, not great, but ok, the Ikura, however was something els. The fish eggs where old and instead of having clean crisp eggs that burst in your mouth, I got fish egg mush. The same kind of mess you get when you leave a open jar of salmon row in the fridge for 7 days. The eggs open up release there content and you are left with a smelly slimy liquid. I asked the waitress to bring the plate back to the chef and asked him if he would eat it. His replied to her, "thats the sauce!" The waitress was the only positive thing about our visit. She really tried to make up for the mishaps and seemed genuinely sorry. All in all a bad experience, that left us with a fishy aftertaste. read more

This was our first time at Red Bowl. We came late on a Friday night, hoping to take advantage of the sushi and drink specials. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. It was very big and very breaded. My husband did not care for it, but I thought it was okay. He ordered a stir fry (hibachi style) meal with shrimp. In attempting to garnish the meals, it appeared as if they put everything they had back in the kitchen on the plate. It was pretty, I give you that. His meal was so-so. I tried his rice and it was way too gritty for our tastes. I ordered two drinks- a margarita and an apple martini. The apple martini was good, but the margarita tasted like it had cigarette ashes in it. It was atrocious. For my meal , I ordered a couple of sushi rolls. I had a California roll and the name of the second escapes my mind at this point. They were okay. Nothing to write home about, I assure you. Pretty food is nice, but good food is way better. The service was decent, but unremarkable in any way. There were only a few occupied tables, so I felt it could have been better, but we never really went without anything,so I'd rate it fair. Overall, for the price and the taste, I don't think we'll go back. It was too expensive for the quality of the food. Again, it looked great, but the taste just wasn't there. read more

Fantastic restaurant. Whether we have eaten in or taken out - the food is always delicious and consistent. The sushi is always fresh and they have many options. They also have early bird and late night specials on sushi which our family has found to be a value, and gives us a chance to try different ones. The meals are flavorful and portions are huge! Some of our favorites have been the Red Curry Shrimp, Dragon and Phoenix, The Hungry Hunter (sushi), Pad Thai and Tom Ka Kai Soup. I really like this place. The food is wonderful always and the service is good. They have a prive dinning room that is great for parties. The patio is quiet and perfect for lunch. Based on other Chinese place in the area, price, good quality, ambience, service, etc, this is the best by a lot. Lunch specials are great, lots of choices for a great price. I'm not a sushi fan, but friends have told me it's "quite good." The dinner menu is more substantial and the prices are The restaurant itself is nice, holds a good amount of people without feeling crammed in. There is also a private room for large parties. I've been a regular at this restaurant for 4 years. And the one in Greenville before that. Today I went in and ordered the tilapia and a glass of wine. The first bite of tilapia, I tasted mold. You know that awful taste in your mouth that won't go away? I thought maybe its just me and took a second bite. Ok. Another bite, ok. The fourth bite, MOLD! Stopped eating after 4 bites. So I mentioned to the waitress and she got the general manger. I stated in a friendly manner that I thought they'd want to know and she said I had eaten 1/2 the entree and therefore they would not take it off my bill. Seriously, only four bites - my plate was full. "Really?. Can you get the manager?" She came back and said he refused to talk to me, so I said, I didn't want to pay for moldy food and left. An hour later the POLICE were at my door demanding $21.15 or he would ARREST me for stealing! I paid the money but.....DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!! Worst customer service ever and poor food quality. The food was mediocre. The service was very slow. I felt very neglected by the slow service. I eventually asked for my food to go so I could eat it at home. Not a single manager came to my table. When I try to address the slow service to the manager she seemed very uninterested. I would not recommend this unless you take your food to go. With all the competition around with better food and better service I do not see this place staying open more than another six months to a year. read more

Ooh my where ooh where do I start! My husband and I decided to try somewhere new for sushi dinner and we were not disappointed. We have friends who frequent this place and with the 3-6pm happy hour 50% off we couldn't resist trying it. We tried the Singapore rice noodles and 4 different rolls. We tried the hunter roll, icy Alaskan, hot river and the spicy tuna rolls. Our ultimate favorite roll is the hot river roll. We will be back. REVIEW DECEMBER 2012: Since moving to the area a year ago, this has been our favorite place. We have been here dozens of time. This last visit we had the most awful experience. Our server knew NOTHING about the menu, could not tell us which beers were on tap (there were only 4!), messed up our order and on top of it, dumped my entire glass of red wine on my husband and daughter, ruining his jeans and her winter coat. I did not want to embarass the waitress, because she mentioned she was new. We had expected her to do something to compensate my husband who sat through the entire meal with his pants soaked. She did nothing. Asked her for a wet towel and never got it. Upon leaving we asked to speak to a manager (the hostess claimed to be the manager??) and the hostess apologized, knowing exactly which waitress was the problem before we even told her the name. She asked me if I would accept a gift card since we already paid, I said yes it was appreciated. When we got to the car we saw the receipt from the gift card and it was $10, which to me is a complete insult for the horrible experience we had and the fact that they were not willing to do anything about it and we now have to buy new pants and a new coat. The next morning I contacted Red Bowl via email to try and speak to someone who was perhaps the actual manager or owner. They NEVER responded to my concerns. I understand accidents happen, Ive been a waitress and bartender which is why I didnt embarass the server. But I also know that when you ruin somebody's clothing, you should at least take care of the bill. Im disgusted that this place would put a server on the floor SO POORLY trained and the fact that their Management has zero customer service. We will not be back, they lost a good customer. Red Bowl is one of our favorite places to stop for dinner. We also will stop for lunch sometimes. Me and my mom love their sushi; it is so good you will just keep eating and eating. Their eel sauce is amazing it is like the icing on the cake. It gives all of their sushi rolls the little bit of sweetness it needs to complete the roll. My dad does not enjoy red bowl as much as we do but on the occasion that he comes he really enjoys the beef lo mein. There is a lot of beef in it. Definitely order the wonton soup. It is very good especially with the "crunchies." And just a little tip the " yum yum" sauce Is very good on the "crunchies." Most of the waiters and waitresses are really friendly. I have never been there once where they got my order wrong. The food always come out extremely fast. I really don't think there is any thing wrong with the restaurant. I gave Red Bowl 4 out of 5 stars just because every restaurant could do something better with their food or service. read more

My favorite aspect of Red Bowl is their lunch specials. I like to go here with my 5 year old daughter and order the $5.00 Peanut Chicken with rice. It's enough that we can split it and it is very tasty. Can't beat that price and they offer the special 7 days a week. Other prices seem to be a little high for the quality of food and service. I have not had a bad service experience at this restaurant, but it hasn't been particularly impressive either. read more
