We had to meet here for a horse back riding trip. We went in excited being coffee lovers and all but the workers were rude and not helpful. We got our coffees and one order was incorrect and the other tasted like seltzer water was added. When we went up to let them know, they were sassy and didn't want to make us another one happily. Will never go back. The lady that was working there was far worse than the man, and was only mean to us so not sure. read more

I'm actually super upset to be giving this place a 1 star. Here is the story. I've been coming here for over 5 years and always enjoyed the food and coffee. Whomever was working this last Tuesday morning I'm completely disappointment in. A costumer had brought up the fact Red Gerald had won the gold medal (he lives in Silverthorne so pretty cool thing). Both ladies said very loudly "Oh he's just another rich spoiled Summit County kid". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? To have the nerve to talk poorly about local Summit County kids you don't even know! You don't know his life and you don't know other kids in the counties life's either. I grew up here and it's a loving community filled with people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. I was appalled when I heard this and you better believe I will be telling locals about this. If your gunna talk bad do it on your off time don't do it at work. read more

We stopped at this cute coffee shop after a hike yesterday for some warm beverage. They had live music playing when we stepped in. It's a rather spacious shop with plenty of seating and beautiful artwork on display. There's outdoor seating in the back with view of the river, which would be perfect on a warm day! I really liked the handwritten menus hanging on the wall! The cider was really good! They have a few specialty lattes (lavender honey and nutty professor) along with iced coffee and teas. For food, it's mostly breakfast/brunch items such as oatmeal, bagel and pastries. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back to try their specialty lattes next time I'm in the area! read more

Yum! I stopped in quickly to grab drinks to go at the end of our Colorado adventure and was not disappointed! First, their COVID - 19 procedures are top notch. There is signage and plenty of space to spread out. Second - the drinks. I ordered an iced mocha and it was so good! A perfect blend of good espresso with chocolate that was more bitter than sweet! I had mine with whole milk, but their milk selection included coconut, oat and others (the barista said them aloud to another guest so I could not catch all the options). My partner got a black iced tea and said it was good. We did not order any food but it smelled wonderful! I highly recommend if you want a local coffee shop! read more

I spent hours mentally wrestling whether to make this a four-star or five-star establishment. In my friend's estimation it was five-star, hands down. She had the açaí bowl and nutty professor latte with almond milk. Now, it doesn't normally come with almond milk, but ask and they will provide. Hmm, this is the importance of writing. Apparently this is a five-star place as they didn't blink an eye when she asked for the substitute. I had the homemade ramen and a quintuple breve latte (yes 5 shots, I like my caffeine). Both were very good, although the ramen had one and possibly two issues. The first is the two jelly-bean size clumps of solid soup base. It may have been some sort of miso paste or magicube, but it did distract from the soup. The second is that I had the impression I should have gotten a hard boiled egg, but did not. Funny though, this didn't hit me for several hours so it wouldn't be fair to hold this against the establishment. While the undissolved soup parts would be enough to knock it off the five-star platform, the friendly and helpful staff, combined with the professional and well-made good and drinks, and kitschy motif keeps it hanging on to that elusive fifth star. read more

Went for coffee and pastries, found that they had only one pastry left and the coffee was ok, had to ask for stevia and a napkin from behind the counter, I'm sure this is because of Covid. Service was mild, not super friendly, but I loved walking through to the back and being right on the river. I may give it another try. Could have just been an off moment. Looks like a well attended, by the community coffee shop. Just wasn't blown away by the coffee, service or the facility. I'll keep you posted. read more

We asked for bacon and cheese but it only had eggs. Debatable if this is the best in Summit. Definitely in Silverthorne because not only do they have great coffee.. From the front you can see the mountains AND in the back there is a patio area along a walking path with the creek running no less than 9 steps away. Great coffee, atmosphere, people, prices, and everything else. You can work or hang out a few people. read more

We came in for some coffee that we heard was out of this world and it measured up. We were helped by the kind hearted Ciara and Emily. The ambience was sensational. One really cool feature you may not know... you can walk out the back and sit at a bench and enjoy a lovely river with Hot Coffee. Wonderful photography art on the walls. Cool world map also. I love this cafe tucked away in Silverthorne. Anytime I'm up here I try to stop by. They have a friendly environment and on warm days a great little patio overlooking the Blue River in the back. Coffee drinks are always good and customized to your liking and they have a great breakfast burrito option that is totally filling. Beware they do run out of certain baked goods if you don't arrive early like my personal fave , a good everything bagel. I'll be stopping in on my frequent trips up. You should too. read more

This place serves great coffee. We were in the area the first week of August for a family reunion. This coffee place is so close to the house we were renting. The coffee was amazing and the staff was very friendly as well. I had nutty professor with skim milk and it was so good. My husband had the gingerbread latte and said that it was so good. We love the Red Buffalo Cafe - only complaint is the chairs are not that comfortable... but I could say that about many many coffee shops around the nation! The coffee, tea, food, atmosphere is great. In summer the doors to the Blue River are open and it's like an open air cafe.... I'm really impressed with this place. I am obsessed with coffee and struggle to find quality espresso spots in Denver and along the front range. There are a few killer places, but not too many in the grand scheme of things. It's very hard to pull consistent shots of espresso at elevation and I expect to have bad pulls from time to time. I was up at the Dew Tour about a month ago and decided to give Red Buffalo a try. Wow! My Americano was one of the best that I had ever had in CO. I have since been back two times since then and it's always been amazing. I just don't get how they're doing such a great job with their coffee. It's pretty mind blowing. I would put them in my top five coffee shops in CO. Also, the prices are reasonable and the people have always been very nice. The only negative that I can think of is that the smell of the place doesn't match the coffee. Red Buffalo smells like a bag of flavored coffee beans (maybe Caramel, Vanilla or something else?) when you walk in. I really am not a big fan of that smell, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying their espresso all the time. I ski a lot during the winter and now skip getting coffee in Denver each morning and grab it here. read more

I am not much of a coffee drinker but after trying their Jazzy Java (with hints of cinnamon and rum) I went back an hour later to buy a 1/2 lb for my house! They have an incredibly diverse selection of teas for your choosing as well food and snacks to satisfy your hunger. Another reason to love them beyond the great food and beverage selections is that they use compostable goods and divert all the trash that they can. There are two main things that make this coffeeshop really stand out. I've spent a month in Summit County camping and countless hours in area coffeeshops. My coffee and bagel here are seriously less than half as much as I paid everywhere else. The gouging that goes on at area resorts is amazing. I know that rent is high but $5 for a reg size bottled orange juice is over the top (keystone coffee shop). If you're looking for a place with a comfortable vibe where you can hang out and use Wi-Fi, this is a great choice. The back patio is right along the water's edge and is especially lovely and cozy on a fine day. There are used books for sale inside and a variety of comfortable seating. read more

I always buy my bulk coffee for home from here. Red Buffalo works with a Colorado roaster out of Boulder. All of their coffee is fresh, and the beans are rotated weekly - so your coffee is never more than 7 days old! They can be rather busy on the weekends in the early morning, but for good reason! Staff was really friendly! They don't have many people working the shop, so sometimes the wait can be a bit long, but that's just part of the experience! I got the soy latte, which was lovely. They have a few specialty beverages, like the lavender honey latte (seasonal), orange vanilla spice latte (sold out when I was there), nutty professor, smoke stack, and turmeric latte. They home make all of their syrups. Unfortunately, some of the items and seasonal and aren't available year-round; also it seems their specialty lattes are really popular because they had just run out of the orange vanilla spice latte when I got there :(. Strolled in to this place during a bitterly cold day in late December. Having just finished a round of shopping and waiting-for-others-to-shop at the outlets, my hands were cold and my face nearly numb from the blustering Colorado winds. Inside the doors, salvation awaited. I've noticed that a lot of independent coffee shops have similar appearances. I don't know quite how to describe it, but you know it when you see it. Until this gets co-opted by the national chains and the laughable imitators, it's a good indicator that the place you're entering has some good joe. I opted for a drink called the Smoke Stack, which the barista described as "decadent." Not the word I would have used, but that's the pedant in me. The drink contained nutella and marshmallows, among other ingredients. So maybe it was decadent. It warmed me up and tasted great, which is what really matters anyway. I figured I'd ski off the calories the next day. I wish I had the opportunity to come here more during my short trip to Dillon, but that never came to be. A shame, since their other drinks looked great and the cafe offers several pastries and other products. A wax-wrapped chocolate that bills itself as perfect for hikers caught my eye; next time. read more
