Sometimes things work out…read more I just spent two months in the Holiday Inn in Morgantown. I hadn't planned on staying that long, but sometimes life throws you a curveball. The hotel though, they were always very accommodating. All the staff is great. I can't say enough about them. Jose is a wonderful person who brings sunshine and laughter and pleasantness to you when you get your breakfast in the morning. (Not included, just so you know, but totally worth it and affordable, like 12 bucks for all you can eat breakfast which is sooooo good.) He makes you feel like you're very welcome and very much at home. It's a nice cozy feeling. He's a great guy. (and the food is so good). Noelle and Helen work at the front desk and they are just wonderful. They're the kind of people you're just always happy to be around. They make you feel like you're wanted and welcome and appreciated and nice to see you in a genuine way. There were no forced smiles, it was just a good experience to see them. Noelle will give it to you straight and make a bunch of great jokes. And always be accommodating and helpful. Helen is such a sweet woman and just makes me feel warm inside knowing I know she knows I'm there.. She is just that kind of person you like being around because they're always comfy. Heather at the bar is a wonderful person. She and Jose work the restaurant at night. What a trooper. As you can imagine she puts up with the rigmarole of the daily bartender stuff but she does it with such grace, often great partnering with Jose. They work very well together. Heather is kind and sweet and genuine and honest and real. It's always a very pleasant experience with her. She will tell you exactly what she's thinking and feelin and it'll be delivered in a good way you'll enjoy for whatever mood you're in. She's really good at her job, a great person, knows how to handle any situation or environment, so you should tip her well! Because you got a good thing out of it! Jonathon the General Manager is a really really great guy. Salloon Cowboy Kinda type. He is the kind of guy that will go to bat for you no matter what it takes, he puts the guests first. He is a prime example of how a hotel should be run. He understands what you need and why you need it, and he actually genuinely cares about things.. He really gives a hoot. And he's silly too, once you get to know him like I did. He's the kind of guy you want in your corner, because he'll have your back no matter what. He's polite, kind, smart and graceful. And I had nothing but pleasant experiences with him. The housekeeping staff is always so kind and nice. You have to request housekeeping, but they are very friendly and polite and aren't intrusive. Whatever you need they can take care of for ya! And I haven't even mentioned the amenities... Free coffee every morning. There's a 24/7 gym with everything you'd need in it. And then there's a lovely pool... and hot tub.. what a way to relax and just unwind... and forget about the day and just play around.... such a wonderful thing to have... open from 10 to 10. Also! There's a walkable McDonalds, and a Casino right around the corner! And you should also check out the Heritage (restaurant) great place to eat around the corner. So.. in conclusion.. I didn't expect to find myself at the Holiday Inn. And I didn't expect to stay as long as I did at the Holiday Inn. But I can say that I sure loved every moment I was there. It was such a wonderful time that you wouldn't really think of in a hotel in Morgantown. A quaint little spot with all the right things.. I really enjoyed my stay. Would very much recommend.

The bathroom was not clean, not because of lack of housekeeping, due to lack of upkeep. Peeling tub, peeling floor, and set in stains. If you want a laugh you can check out the artwork on the wall I assume somebody's kid made it at school since it's construction paper glued to white paper (pic below). Our room was weird- you looked out the window and you could see reception and the front lobby, so if you don't want everybody in the hotel seeing you, mandatory to keep the curtains drawn. By the way breakfast not worth it, $24 for two people to get 1 step above continental.

My room had a dead stinkbug over the door, and several bugs wrapped in a spider's web behind the door. There was some small trash by the bed, and a straw tucked into one of the drawers. The door jam was filthy. Stuff like that quickly makes you wonder what else isn't being cleaned, is being overlooked. . . The room seemed quiet at first. Then, from the other side of the wall, I hear a woman's voice asking me to join an adult website, followed by several minutes of an adult movie. The hotel might not pickup road noise, but I could hear the guy in the next room... oh, let's just say enjoying his movie. Shortly thereafter, I could also hear him snoring. Flashbacks to my horrible freshman college roommate.

An outdoor sink to wash your dishes. A spout for water to fill your water tank. If you get a good spot, there is power. But at night it becomes a way to meet others and enjoy the evening. If you are looking to be isolated; it's not the place. This is a social, friendly and enjoyable place to make friends.

In the vicinity are entertainment options including local bars in West Reading, Goggleworks Center for the Arts, the Reading Pagoda, City Center, and movie theater. Like many small cities, the nightlight turns down at a decent hour, so plan accordingly. I recommend exercising caution in the neighborhood after hours because of crime. Overall, a good experience and one I'd recommend.

I had originally booked a 2-night stay with them for my parents as a combined Mothers Day gift/Dad's birthday gift (around May/June). My father was sick with cancer at the time, and between hospital visits and treatments, my parents seriously needed a little getaway. However, due to my dad's illness, it was often very difficult to set dates for them -- every day can bring something new and unexpected. I had to call maybe 4 times to reschedule the stay -- each time, the staff being so incredibly empathetic and kind. There was never even an ounce of frustration from them, each time telling me 'not to worry' and checking in on my Dad. There were calls I had to make in which, after confirming the dates and my name, they would immediately ask how my Dad is doing and wishing my family well. I couldn't believe they remembered who we were, and had it in their hearts to ask about him! Well -- we fell on some very difficult times and lost my father in August. We had most recently moved their reservation to September, so we very quickly had to reassess. My family decided to gift the 2-night stay to some incredibly supportive friends of ours, but when I called and spoke with the staff -- they could immediately tell something was wrong, and once again hit me with the utmost empathy, kindness, and patience. They immediately offered to issue a full refund, but instead, I asked them to just change the names on the reservation and we gifted it to some friends. I truly couldn't wait for my friends to visit and tell me all about their stay. They had nothing but wonderful things to say! They told me that the staff was so generous and kind, the room was stunning, and the local hiking trails were absolutely beautiful and worth even just a day trip from where we live in NJ. They enjoyed everything about their stay! And they said the food was just divine! They said it's definitely a place they would return to, and I cannot wait to pay a visit myself and see all the things Churchtown has to offer in person! I can confidently say that based on my experiences with the staff just over the phone, this is a wonderful establishment who is deserving of all the success. Churchtown is #1 on my list i'd like to actually experience in person, and I surely cannot wait to do so!!!!

Five courses and totally different each time, made us feel like royalty. They were also so helpful about finding us dog-friendly places to go with our pooch. Lodgings are clean and quiet. The front desk person took several minutes to acknowledge us. His McDonalds order was sitting all over the counter above where he was working. As he was ready to take our credit card he told us they don't allow pets. He called his supervisor and asked her to tell us over his cell phone that they had new ownership and would not accept pets anymore despite their website and other booking sites. They said they would refund us, but to call Hopper who we booked through. We called and spent an hour on the phone with Hopper, and Hopper said they denied the refund.

With prompt service to paying little to no attention to special dietary needs, their staff made sure that you got the best, and the best was served with charm (and no doubt, with a tip or two). Our guests can rave all over the wonderful food and perfect appearance! The florist, Perkasie Florist shocked with the amazing sets that suited the theme precisely. In addition to their luxurious flower arrangements, their crew was extremely accommodating, and came to work very early to fix and set up and was very able to compromise and make changes to their arrangements last minute and kept everything stress free. Asya Photography our photographer was easygoing, polite, and discrete all though out the day and she took breathtaking photographs based upon which our actual story is manifested. They made group photos run easily and they managed to make people natural and happy and it actually comes out of the photos (natural looking and happy faces). Inn Keeper Marina was absolute treasure, she was endlessly considerate and brilliantly welcoming, and as a result, the weekend was a great experience with no one feeling unloved or unwelcome.
