Really enjoyed our time at this hotel! Great location right in Amish country. Affordable stay, and our room had 2 separated bedrooms and a balcony. Everything was super clean and in great shape, and the staff were so nice and accommodating! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well, but we didn't get the chance to check out the free breakfast as we had other plans. They also have free coffee available around the clock at the desk, and the coffee pods in the room were stronger than your average hotel room coffee. Shower had good pressure and temperature, and it was quiet enough for a decent night of sleep. Only weirdness is someone's home is right next to it, and so we could see into his "yard" from our balcony, but there's privacy barriers so that no one can see you and vice versa if you're sitting. We stayed for nearly a week in this lovely hotel where a mill once stood. It took me some digging on Google to learn about a renovation10 years ago that doubled the hotel's size. The building the swimming pool is in used to be a canning company. There's a nice sitting area outside it that also has a firepit. It's quick access to Kitchen Kettle Village and Stoltzfus Meats, both that are must stops! We were lulled to sleep by the sound of horse hooves and woke up to it them. We stayed in a room with two queen beds that had a balcony, which was a surprise. Everything was very clean, but the room set up made it a bit cramped. A small side table by the sitting chair would be nice. The tub and toilet is in a separate room from the sink. The toiletries are nice, but tiny in size. The lobby has free coffee and tea available 24/7. There's also a spa on-site, which we did not make use of. We had a nice experience with all of the staff who can offer tips and suggestions about the area. One did rub me the wrong way when at check out she thought she was being cute to refer to me with pet names as I pointed out a couple needed room repairs. The free breakfast is a very generous all you can eat buffet. Daily it has freshly made Real scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and fried diced potatoes. Plus the usual waffle maker, breads, yogurt, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, ready to serve oatmeal, and who knows what else. The staff kept it all filled and the tables clean. If only more guests than I can count were more polite rather than shoving their way along the buffet line with their unruly kids in tow. They were so rude, with many kids having screaming fits day after day. It was not the best way to start out each morning. At least on our last day, when most had left, we finally had a peaceful meal. read more

The most uncomfortable bed i've ever slept on. I would have been more comfortable on the floor. When I lay in a hotel bed, I expect it to be plush and comfortable, but these honestly felt like they forgot to put the mattress on and I was sleeping on the boxspring. The pool room was also way too hot, I understand the pool should be heated, but it is summer so the pool should be cool and refreshing. Other than that it's all okay. read more

Stayed here recently on holiday after reading the good reviews. Stayed in a king 1br suite which had a sofabed (and a kind of weird, railroad layout). The pros: - Very nice, attentive, helpful staff. Friendly throughout our stay. - Great bed. I'm a crappy sleeper but even I slept like a rock here. - Good climate control in the bedroom (kinda meh in the living room) - Really good water pressure and hot water, even early in the AM - Decent complimentary daily breakfast with hot and cold options The mehs: - The room is fairly clean but it is kind of old/dreary in decor - The whole room is carpeted, which I'm personally not a huge fan of, especially during the covid era - The sofabed is a piece of shit. I tried it out to give the family more space on the big bed but had to migrate over b/c the folding mattress was paper thin and your back will literally hit the iron bars on the frame if you lay down Generally speaking it was a mixed bag with masks. Some folks wore it on the property, some didn't, which wasn't a huge surprise tbh especially based on what people were generally doing in the Lancaster area when I visited. Just an fyi for anyone wondering what the vibe is. Lots of families stay here, so expect it to be fairly loud in the hallways, etc. There's plenty of parking in this hotel and it is conveniently located in Intercourse, which is a tiny town near Lancaster but at least has a few shops within walking distance. It is about a 10-15 minute drive to attractions such as Dutch Wonderland or Tanger Oulets. Not too bad. Also note due to Covid there is no housekeeping except in between when checkouts and checkins happen, so if you want fresh towels, shampoo etc, you'll need to go ask the front desk. read more

It was quite likely the worst meal we've ever had. We should have listened to the waitress when she informed us of their lack of a liquor license, followed by the encouragement to go somewhere else to eat. We were not deterred by lack of libations, as it was my spouse's 50th birthday dinner, and he's not much of a drinker. We order our appetizers and entrees. The bread and pickles arrived soon after with some herbed butter. We ordered butternut squash soup, which was tasty, but there was nothing special about it. The bacon-wrapped scallops were just that, not remarkable. The salad my mother-in-law ordered was wilted or had little character. The entrees, in order of appearance, and the beef tenderloin tips were less than tender, with much gristle, so I was terrified to continue and quietly spat it out to the side of my plate. I ordered a side of potatoes that showed up late to the party. Our birthday boy, the featured guest of the festivities was none too pleased with his steak, so he asked for butter to improve the flavor. He received a frozen hunk of herb butter, which was impossible to cut through with a knife. My mother-in-law politely informed us the next day that her stuffed shrimp were cold. She also asked for butter and received a few drops in a condiment cup. Overall, the most enjoyable component of this meal was the company of family and our uncanny ability to entertain ourselves by singing The Sound of Music, unexpectedly disturbing our neighbors. Now that we've recovered from the grief and posthumously agreed the meal deserved an epitaph, such a meal is appreciated by the company you kept, not the unremarkable food presented. The next day, it was agreed upon that it was the worst meal we'd ever had. Old Mill Inn at the Best Western in Intercourse, PA, thanks for the memories, we won't be back! read more

This hotel is walking distance to Kitchen Kettle Village. It has a very nice lobby with 24/7 coffee and tea. Staff is very friendly. The room was very clean. For the complimentary breakfast, you have a choice of the buffet breakfast or the on-site restaurant. I tried both and I prefer the buffet over the restaurant. The buffet breakfast was quite good in a very comfortable room, while the food from the restaurant was mediocre at best. One problem I had was the wifi service. It was really bad. Since I have unlimited cell service, it may not be such a big deal but the cell service is also spotty inside the hotel. For someone who really need the wifi service for work, this is a major issue. read more

First time visiting, we really enjoyed our stay. Great location. Every single employee we interacted with through out the hotel were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The front desk staff are welcoming and attentive to their hotel guests. The staff in the restaurant and breakfast area are hard working in keeping up with the guests and making sure food and supplies are constantly being refilled. The food in the restaurant was good. The hotel is clean and comes with some nice extras. There is an outdoor basketball net, corn hole game, great outdoor furniture to relax on, a fire pit and indoor heated pool and hot tub. We felt at home, very comfortable and this is not always something we feel when staying at a hotel. Stayed in a deluxe room with two queen beds. The location of this hotel is incredible because it is less than a 5-minute walk away from The Kitchen Kettle Village, AAA buggy, Corner Coffee Shop, Immergut hand-rolled pretzel, and Stoltzfus Meats. It is a short driving distance away from many farms and farmers markets. It has great amenities with a continental breakfast along with great customer service. The hotel served its purpose as a clean place to stay while visiting Intercourse for my friend's wedding. However, the outdoor fire pit was broken (a main attraction to the hotel) and the fitness center was lacking in basic equipment/towels/sanitizing wipes. Regardless, my qualms with the Best Western Plus Intercourse Village is the ownership and management's inflexibility in working with me when an internet glitch resulted in a double charge of my room of $700+. It was a mistake, but it was not my mistake and I would have appreciated them working with me to resolve this issue rather than simply saying "I'm really sorry" and expecting me to cover the cost of an internet-glitch-based double charge. read more

My only complaint was they never had any English Breakfast tea bag. Their version of English Breakfast tea is Orange Pekoe tea, which is a bit different than normal English Breakfast tea and it has an orange smell. Front desk receptionist recommended a delicious local restaurant (Joni's Diner, delicious and very reasonably priced!) and answered all of our touristy type questions. Restaurant in the hotel is also delicious! Complimentary coffee in lobby and coffee in the restaurant is out of this world! I am not a coffee drinker at all and had several cups! Stayed here over the weekend, rooms are clean, staff is friendly. The complimentary coffee is absolutely delicious, also included is free buffet with a few things to choose from. The restaurant located in the hotel on the other hand is ok for a quick fix. Food was so-so we ate there twice. First time waitress was alright, nice enough. BUT the second time we went, a family member asked a question about the menu, her answer was a very abrupt "I don't know" and did not offer to find out the answer. Very unpleasant. We didn't use the indoor pool during this stay, but stopped in, seemed clean and very popular. The temperature in the building was very comfortable not hot and humid like I expected. A VERY big bonus of this hotel is that it is located in walking distance of Kettle Kitchen! read more

The prices are affordable, compared to the number of beds that we're in. Perfect for large families/groups. We got connecing rooms, with each room having 3 double beds plus 1 sofa bed! No kitchen, but the room has microwave, 2 sinks ---with one sink outside the bathroom--- which is nice when you travel with large group. The swimming pool is outside the hotel's building but within very walkable distance. It's warm, too, which is very nice for cold winter days. Service is pretty nice. Everyone is friendly, but they don't seem to have enough people. Only 1 guy waiting for the front desk on the night we arrived. Not even sure if they had bus boy. 1-star off for breakfast. It's not a buffet. Everyone can only choose 2 food items and 1 drink item. And it's SOOOOOO slowww. It took about 45 minutes for the order to arrive. Simple eggs like those ... Unfortunately the water in the room stopped working after breakfast . Until the time we checked out, the water pressure didn't recover , it only got worse, ie it eventually stopped at all. So, buh bye proper morning shower. read more

This hotel is great! From Check-in to departure, the staff was terrific. It was quick getting our room, and the hotel looks like it was freshly remodeled. Our room was upgraded to a suit when we arrived as that is what they had available. It was very spacious and very clean. It includes all the amenities needed and was a great space for the few days we were there. We had a continental breakfast included with the stay, which is normal for many hotels. The food was good and broader than just breads, cereal, and juice/coffee. There were also eggs, sausage, and French toast. The pool was indoor, but disconnected from the building. It was firefly across from the lobby entrance. The pool is a decent size and the water temp was great. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Strasburg/Intercourse area. read more

I noticed another reviewer complained about thin walls. Could I hear the people next to us? Yes, but a lot of hotels are like that, and there's just too many positives with this hotel that it wasn't even something that bothered us. Family and I stayed for three nights and we definitely enjoyed our time here. Rooms are clean and front desk employees were friendly and accommodating. The only thing that could have made it better is that we got a room that was right next to the gym area and there is just not enough soundproofing between the two rooms. One night, a guest decided to bring his two kids in there with him that were not there to exercise unless you consider vocal cords a form of workout at a gym at 2230. Then, at 0600, someone decided to use the treadmill and among the silence, we were woken up by the constantly thump thump thump of whomever was running on it. Gym hours are 0600 to 2300 so we could not blame the guests. But cmon, who comes to Lancaster to workout, it's eat, eat, eat! Housekeeping was ok. Person came to make the bed and replace towels but forgot to replace the in room coffee packs, not too much of a biggie since we could just go downstairs and get some. Breakfast was not huge buffet but a selection of items but was ample. The coffee cake and donuts were very good but being an old fart, I had to stick with the hot oatmeal and two eggs, both of which was very good too. Either way, the breakfast was perfect amount of food to get you going and tasty. Coffee was by the pitcher and love the refills. Pool area was clean and heated although you do have to go outside the hotel and walk to the area, not an issue if it's warm but but not fun when it's 20 degrees! Lots of places around the area including kettle kitchen so location of this place was perfect. Overall 4.5 out of 5 so will round up to 5. read more

I usually stay at the Fulton Steamboat Inn, but this place is comparable in terms of the updated, clean rooms, large screen TV, big bathroom and, the Old Mill Restaurant located in the complex has great food! One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Everything was tastefully decorated and extremely clean; I don't know how long the hotel has been open but it seemed as though it was new, or newly renovated -- no signs of wear and tear on the carpets or furniture. I also liked that the decor wasn't totally "countrified" as so many places (especially in rural, touristy areas like Amish country) can be -- it seemed modern and up to date, while still being warm and homey. Lots of rich wood and stone. We had a jacuzzi room, and the room itself was huge, with plenty of room to spread out. There were outlets and USB jacks on the bedside lamp, which was a nice touch -- less chance of forgetting your phone charger after plugging it in behind a table or desk. The bed was comfy, if a little soft, but I do like very firm beds. Loved the 24-hour coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby -- again, a little thing, but so nice to be able to grab a hot beverage whenever you want one. Also, the staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. It might sound cheesy, but we really did feel welcomed. Three small qualms: the water in the hotel was very soft, and the air in the hotel was very dry. I never quite felt like I'd rinsed the soap off my hands or the shampoo out of my hair because of the water, and I was constantly putting lotion on my hands. And lastly, the jacuzzi tub (although wonderful once I got into it!) was difficult to get in and out of. No step up, and the edge of the tub was very wide. Nevertheless, these were relatively small issues compared to the overall amenities and atmosphere. Would definitely return to this hotel if I was in the area again! read more

The housecleaning was also surprisingly friendly, most cheerful crew ever encountered and they were attentive to details. The rooms were very clean and tidy. The lobby and sitting areas were very accommodating and cozy for our huge family that was also staying at the hotel. The restaurant that is attached to the hotel, was a bonus! Open to 11am which is great for our family, because we're a little slow in the morning. The complementary menu had great options, and the breakfast menu the restaurant offered was 30% off! This was a great place to stay in Lancaster County. It was a good experience from arrival to the checkout. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. There were ample electrical outlets, good lighting, free wifi, microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. I would have liked more counter space in the bathroom but other than that, nice room. It was a good value as the rate included a free breakfast in the hotel restaurant as well as a discount on other meals there. Whoa, I should have learnt my lesson the first time... I came to your hotel on Christmas but didn't take a room because Christian at the front desk was giving me attitude and trying to charge me more for the room than was listed on your website. I decided to give you guys another chance since I have a friend of mine that stays by you on a bi monthly basis. I had a nice Jacuzzi in my room, but no HOT water!! The bed was horribly uncomfortable, but I kept my mouth shut and didn't complain. My frustrations didn't end there. Upon checkout they charged me an extra $150 for a smoking fee , I didn't smoke in the room. I will not pay for something I didn't do. I left a message on Kurt Thomas voice mail at the time of incident but still no follow up. I am extremely annoyed with the way I have been treated especially by Christian. read more

This was a lovely hotel. When you pull in, you see a uniquely designed hotel. It is modeled after a barn house with farm decor. Walking in you smell a soft vanilla and are greeted by friendly staff at the front desk. Check is was smooth and getting to our room was a breeze. The room itself was nice and very clean. We took the kids to the pool which was a separate building but a quick walk to. Clean, large and also has a large hot tub which was nice for hubby and I. Breakfast was yummy and filling. DON'T stay at one of the Amish homes, connected to this "not best western"! Apparently these homes are owned by individuals, not the best western; I wish I knew that. We had to call the lobby desk three times to remove ants from the home. One time the electricity went out - had to rely on the lobby desk person, had to ask 2x to have the garbage can outside emptied (we are a family of 11), the beds were lumpy, and although the place was clean, there were not enough utensils in the kitchen for everyone (ugh) and the pictures of the place did not represent the place at all.....I have emailed the top three executives at the NOT Best Western - Messrs. Kong, Weinberg and Pohl.......still have not had a reply back from any of them - rude and unprofessional. Apparently, many Best Westerns are privately owned, and so there is no compliance and no satisfaction if you experience a problem. read more

Stayed for a weekend with my girlfriends recently to celebrate my birthday. We originally booked hotel with Booking.com. They lied on their website and misrepresented the room we were getting by describing it as a two bedroom suite. It was actually a one bedroom suite with luckily two beds in it. The hotel and especially Christian were so nice and very helpful and apologetic about Booking.com misrepresenting our room. They were so gracious and gave us a free dinner at their delicious restaurant. They also helped us with finding a private area to play cards with snacks and drinks. It is a very clean hotel and walking distance to many things in Intercourse. We will stay there again if ever in the area and I will never ever use Booking.com again. read more

Room was beautiful, shower wonderful, very clean, smells fresh, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available all night long free of charge. I could literally book a room at this hotel and stay in the room the entire time! I've stayed here twice with my boyfriend and it is now our favorite hotel! It has such a warm cozy feeling, it's clean and the rooms have a beautiful modern look! I love the location and the fact that the old mill restaurant is conveniently attached to it for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I honestly couldn't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I miss it already and can't wait to go back!
