Wowzers this pace makes me red in the face with how great it is! I could have stayed and been a cow all night chomping on the goods, but I had to get to the Vikings game! This place is a perfect spot for a vegan to get a nice beer, have multiple options on the happy hour menu and close it out with a fantastic vegan burger and fries! Vegan BBQ CAULIFLOWER anyone! Brussel sprouts anyone.. Both were absolutely delicious, on the happy hour menu and totally hit the spot! The portion size was great too, I could have probably just shared these and been good, but you know I had to get the Vegan Burger too.. With Vegan cheese, it was fantastic! Great fries as well! Food, drink, and staff are fine, but this restaurant charges your debit and credit $4.50. I didn't realize until I got home and looked at my receipt that I spent $140 with gratuity. I don't mind paying $2.50 for the use of credit charge, but the additional $2.49 this was for their employees' medical surcharge. Meaning that their management is too cheap to help pay for their employees' medical cost.. This does not seem right at all, so if you go there, be prepared to get charged for using your debit card and credit card with additional charges. I don't recommend going to Red Cow restaurant because it will turn you into a Mad Cow person. read more

They always have great food and service. I usually get the double barrel burger which is always amazing and gotta get the truffle fries too. The food is typically good but not great - favorites like the cheese curds can be hit and miss, which is a bummer. Drinks are decent but for the price, leave a little to be desired. The restaurant is also pretty loud, which makes it tough to hear your dining companion. Fortunately, service is always pretty good. If we had a consistent experience every visit, it would be a favorite. read more

In the land of 10,000 burger joints there's ample opportunities to find "the one". Happy to report that after my first few bites of their double cheeseburger that I had found mine. Pillowy buns, melty cheese, *crispy* but not overcooked patties, and the absolute showstopper was their tangy house made ketchup. I haven't tried their other burgers (with eye watering price points) but maybe I'll need to give them a chance. Came here for lunch while visiting the area, The food was really good, the staff was very friendly, plenty of seating outside, they have tons of beers on tap. And it wasn't too crowded for lunch. The cheese curds were really good, I had a main squeeze beer which was very fruity, and I got a burger with sweet potato fries which were mixed with some aïoli sauce which were very good. Wait service was on target, food was perfect, and I arrived before it got too busy so I got a table had a great lunch and explore the rest the Saint Paul. I would definitely come back to this location or another one the people were very friendly, there's tons of other items on the food menu that I would want to try, and they have tons of beers on tap and some other drinks which looked really good as well. The parking lot is not that big but you can park on the street and there was ample space and availability inside the restaurant and outside for dining. One of the better burgers I've had in a while. I will come back if I'm ever in the area and I recommend you check it out as well. read more

I ordered the Patty Melt and I could only eat half, so good! It t came with a choice of sides and I got the Truffle Fries. They were good but a little too strong a flavor for me. My daughter ordered the Blues Burger and loved it. She ordered to Tots which were crispy and delicious! They made an error and brought regular fries which they left with us. They were hot and crispy! Lunch at the Red Cow is good choice. Warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with high quality burgers and hot, fresh fries. I forgot to take pictures but my family and best friend stopped in around 2:30 for a late lunch. The place was packed but they quickly cleaned a table and got all 6 of us seated fast. The beer menu is online now and for some reason my IPhone would not load the beer portion of the drink menu. I ended up ordering off their 12 beers of Christmas menu as that was all I could get to load when orders where being taken. The food arrived fast and hot and my kids loved the sliders, Mac and cheese and grilled cheese. My wife's burger and mine where cooked just as we ordered them and the hand breaded chicken tenders looked amazing. Our server was very pleasant and to good care of us. I will say though it was the first time and when i checked in with the host she stated there would be a table available shortly, the next 2 top available. The fries were meh, though fresh cut, got a bunch of tiny skin on crunchy bits, maybe 1/2 the fries were decent. My friend ordered the patty melt, he liked it. But also overdone. The taste was good, just can't give a burger place 4/5 stars when the burger isn't cooked to desired temp. Disappointed to see they took off the fish and chips, it was really good there and no longer on the menu. I haven't been to RC in about a year and you know the fish is good when you go to a burger place to get the fish! If you haven't been to this location before, it's usually very busy, even weekdays, especially between 6 and 7. It's typically very loud too. Lower level is a more bar vibe with seating and upstairs with add'l seating. It has a great beer list and fun cocktails. Lots of variety on the menu, a lot of veg burger options now and salads and tons of gluten free options available. Turkey, bison burger options too. There is limited parking available in back and street parking, keep an eye for parking signs though, some 2hr, some 15 min parking only. it's a nice bar, but I've never loved anything I've had there. The service has always been great. I would advise not to sit by the bar toward the evening if you're there on a date or trying to relax, because the servers gather on the side when they're off work. read more

What an excellent place to spend a birthday dinner! Was here for the first time celebrating a birthday for a friend and was surprised by the experience. The food was phenomenal - everything tasted spectacular. The prices were reasonable and the environment was lively. They have a number of Angus beef burgers but the red cow grind has a combination of 21 day aged rib eye, chuck, short rib and brisket and this takes it to the next level. The double barrel burger had two juicy patties, plenty of gooey cheese, a great bun and a special sauce which I think has some horseradish in it. This burger was awesome! Fries were good too. As other reviews have eluded to, the restaurant itself is rather small. By quick observation, we were fortunate to snag the last 2 person table available without a wait. Depending on the day and time, there could be a wait for a table. I ordered a cup of French onion soup, which was the Soup of the Day, and the Big Red burger with a side of fries. All were PHENOMENAL! To date, this is the best burger I've had since moving to St. Paul a few months ago! It is not for the faint of heart, however. I've been to Red Cow for brunch, happy hour, and dinner - I feel I can now firmly give it 4 stars. The menu is full of delightful, mouthwatering options that unfortunately end up sounding slightly better than the reality. The food isn't bad at all - it's actually really good, it's just not 5 stars phenomenal. But the service has always been thoroughly outstanding and much appreciated by me. Something special at this location - they have an upstairs banquet room that unofficially seems to be reserved for families - so you don't have to worry about your (my) naughty children disrupting the whole restaurant. read more
