I went here with the family a few days ago for the first time, and I had high expectations. We started out with a vodka martini, a beer, and a lemonade for my six year old daughter, and we ordered the chips and Brussel sprouts. The vodka in the martini was way too sweet, but we drank it and asked for another one made with Tito's vodka. No luck, since they don't carry it in stock behind the bar. No worries, so we asked for Svedka vodka instead. Again, sorry, we don't carry that brand either...Okay, what brand of vodka do you carry? The patient server said they had Prairie vodka. So my wife got that instead. Still too sweet. The chips and onion dip were very good, and I wanted to enjoy the charred Brussel sprouts, but they came out soggy for some reason (too much sauce and crème fresh I guess). For our mains, the wife and I got their 60/40 burgers with truffle fries and the sweet potato planks. My six year old got the kid's boneless chicken wings with fries. Our burgers were pretty tasty, and my truffle fries were pretty good as well. My wife's sweet potato planks were the best I ever had! I highly recommend getting those. The outside was crispy, well seasoned, and the inside was hot and very tasty. My daughter's chicken was a disaster though. The chicken pieces appeared to have been in the fryer way to long, and she was unable to bite through the breading due to it being as hard as a rock. I had to peel off all the breading with a fork and knife to get at the meat inside. She enjoyed her fries though. On the plus side, our server was very attentive, and checked back often to see how we were doing. The total on the bill came to $112.00 for two adults and a child. A bit spendy, but it was nice eating out post-pandemic without worrying about wearing a mask. read more

Red Cow takeout has been an absolute life-saver during quarantine. Their food is so good and fresh, and it reminds me of the good ol' days of being able to eat a fancy burger in a restaurant. As always, they have TONS of options. For gluten free folks, vegetarian, etc. I usually get the classic "ultimate burger" and it never fails to disappoint. The sweet potato fries with spicy aioli are a crowd favorite. And they have great kid meals that are wholesome and quite a bit of food! We tried one of their cocktail kits, the Old Fashioned, and it was great! While we miss dining in at Red Cow, you can't beat their takeout of burgers and cocktails! read more

Red cow was one of my go to restaurants for years and years but the service and quality has decompress quickly. Went tonight with a group and had to flag the server down to order, she was sure to make us aware that we were an inconvenience to her. Fries came out cold and requested fresh ones. The server promptly brought out the cold fries mixed with maybe five hot ones. The bleu cheese dressing used to be made in house and is clearly out of a bottle now. Red cow has definitely had its time to shine, but won't last long in the neighborhood at this caliber. I recommend checking out parlour if you are looking for a good burger close by. read more

Red Cow is FINE. Some might even say GOOD! They are a neighborhood institution with top notch burgers and an awkward upstairs seating area that you never, I repeat never, want to sit in. All of these lofty accolades aside, one of my friends saw the guy who owns the place try and big time some of the security staff at a twins game one time. Rolled out the tried and true "Do you even know who I am?" trope reserved for the famous and deeply narcissistic. Screw that guy. We know exactly who you are. After a number of visits today I tried a new burger. The mushroom and Swiss and it was fabulous! Could be my new favorite. It was a little smaller than I thought it would be but the mushrooms were rich and meaty which filled me up. A few years ago Red Cow started making their own blend for their Manhattan instead of the Lafrieda beef. The Manhattan is still excellent but not as good as when it had the Lafrieda beef. Parking is also a bit more challenging now as there is less room to park on the west side of the restaurant due to a fence. Still a great place for a burger and beer as well as fish fry and someday we'll try their brunch. read more

This is one of the best burger spots I've been to and I wish they had this in California. This location has seating indoors downstairs and upstairs, and outdoor on the patio. You're able to reserve a table, so when we arrived we had no wait, despite only reserving 30 minutes prior. I ordered their double barrel burger, the barcelona burger, and the 60/40 Burger. For an appetizer we ordered the japanese sticky flavored wings. They're slightly spicy, and the meat fell off the bones so easily. They had a good amount of meat in them, and if you don't like bones you can get boneless. Their cocktails are always on point, and they offer a seasonal drink, which for me was an Italian Man. We are blessed to live two blocks from one of the best burger places in the Twin Cities. You can't go wrong getting the 60/40 burger for the great taste but what you will really enjoy is have such nice staff serving you. Becoming more and more a fan of Red Cow St Paul location (the original) for brunch. If you have a hard time, like myself, never wanting to pass up a good burger, but not wanting to compromise your brunch standards--there's an option where you can have your cake (burger) and eat it too! Their signature burger, while perhaps not their most popular, is the 60/40--made with 60% certified Angus beef and 40% ground bacon patty and topped with Wisconsin-aged cheddar. It's delightful. Low and behold they have a breakfast version in the Bagel Burger which adds candied bacon and a fried egg sandwiched between a jalapeño cream cheese slathered everything bagel. Mouth not watering yet? Well, go ahead and add a side of truffle fries to complete your ensemble. Runner up for me is the Bene Burger--angus patty w/ shaved ham, over-easy egg, hollandaise, American cheese, and smoked paprika. Love this spot in Cathedral Hill! Try the cheese curds, the Breakfast Burger, and anything on special! It's all delicious. There is a small parking lot or nearby street parking. We were here early on Saturday night with another couple. The restaurant was pretty busy and active. We started with two appetizers- the chips with onion dip. DELICIOUS. These house made chips were so salty and crispy we all loved them. We also had the buffalo cauliflower. Good flavor with a tiny kick but not too spicy if you don't love spice. We all ordered burgers and all liked the food. I upgraded regular fries to truffle fries and was happy I did - I really liked them. Our server was also great. My two gripes would be that 1.) we were seated upstairs and it was freezing. Two of us had our coats on the entire meal and 2.) the speakers playing music above us were way too loud we had a hard time hearing each other. The speakers appeared to be above each table so there wasn't an opportunity to move. When we got the bill, only the drinks were discounted; the appetizers full price. Stopped by Red Cow to meet up with friends on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant wasn't too packed, so we were seated right away. My sister and I ordered the strawberry margarita and honestly it's the best one I've ever had (the entire table ended up getting them). My sister ordered the tuna burger which was delicious, our friends had chicken bites (they have a gluten free option) salads and a grilled chicken sandwich. I wasn't too hungry but since I was home for the weekend I couldn't resist the cheese curds and that special dipping sauce was amazing. My nephew had a corn dog and I loved that it came out on a tray with carrots and a dessert (very well balanced). Food is always SO good and their truffle fries are to die for. Restaurant is fun and upbeat, and the servers are always very friendly.

I never care for their food. My friends go often and seem to really like it. I never had a meal with that success.

Let me start out by saying the service was stellar. Fast, courteous, and friendly! I have no complaints about the staff. They were lovely. But upon walking into the entryway, it reeked like reused oil. I never recall it smelling like old oil ever before eating here. The entire place smelled like it and my clothes and hair just smelled gross leaving there. We split the ultimate burger they split the meal for us no problem. That was great. We also ordered the Nashville hot chicken tenders and they tasted okay, they had a smell like reheated Mac and cheese. It tasted okay just had an off putting smell while eating them. I used to like this place for the food. Now, I don't think I'd go back because of the old grease smell alone was enough to put me off my stomach. Ehhh...food not great. This is one of the most amazing Swiss mushroom burgers in America! My wife has to do gluten free and this burger is amazing. We had to come back two days later to make sure it wasn't a fluke and nope...AMAZING. Happy hour was with excellent service and DO NOT MISS the avocado cheesecake (pretty much a soft Key-lime pie). So I just got back from Cuba and I loved their food. We came to Red Cow and I was shocked they had Cuban burger on their special. Of course I had to order it. I want to make it clear that I like Red Cow burgers but this one was not good. I seriously think they tried really hard. The pickle was way too sour and it was a big slice too. The ham was super salty. Besides all that I liked their pork meat on the Cuban Burger though. I did not finish it. I ended up eating my fries instead. We also ordered fish fry with sweet potato fries. It was good. The only thing I liked was their homemade beef jerky. Pretty tasty. All Red Cow locations are always packed, this was my first visit here. So expected to wait about 30 to 40 minutes. It is located in one of the best neighborhoods in St Paul.
