The guys here are friendly. They helped fix up my computer up a bit and made it actaully function normally again. Which was great. That was all. Came the first time and they were closed. Had to drive out again. They asked me if they could swing by to pick up the laptop. Then when the time came for them to, they asked if I could drop it off at their location. Very frustrating. They also misplaced my laptop bag and then asked me to come back and pick it up when it was found a week later, very inconveinent. The universe, on a grand scale, doesn't seem to be "revving up" any longer (although momentum from the Big Bang keeps things moving along at a peppy enough pace). Everything wears out...wears down...wears off...wears... So, even though my buddy Michael at Red Seven in Scottsdale had done his best to keep The Beautiful Carin's laptop alive, it finally coughed its cookies last week...a short on the motherboard that just wasn't worth fixing. I did my Yelp duty and found another "Red" computer repair company a little closer to the new place here in Newport Beach...Red Cup IT! While we are doing a little universe pondering, here's a ponder for you...Why are the good computer repair shops named "Red" Something?...Why? I don't know (although it really works for me in many respects...including the adorable "Red Seven" t-shirt that Red Seven in Scottsdale gave Carin...she looks great in it!...I can see the promotional opportunities for similar garments for the "Red Cup" people...Maybe "Red Cup Girls"...just like Hooters, except for, you know, Red...and computer repair). At any rate, they diagnosed the short on the motherboard and I decided it was time for a new computer for my girl (truly, the gift that keeps on giving, BTW). I found a decent little HP on sale and gave it to Dan at Red Cup...later that same day, all data transferred, programs loaded, bloatware removed... ready to rumble! All I had to do was pay the very reasonable bill and take it back to office and let it find my wifi, and Carin was happily back in business! The Red Cuppers provided terrific service (and real-time online communication throughout the process) and made this reload really easy on me! Dan revived our messy and failed exchange server in a couple hours, which took three other IT "experts" from three other companies four days to reach a brick wall. My hard drive on my Powerbook G4 fried and died. Luckily my friend knew Dan from UCI who had been a certified Mac repair guy for quite some time now. He told me which hard drive to buy at the MicroCenter and waited for me at Red Cup IT's place --speaking of which, it's a very nice and chic office loft space. I like how Dan is really techy and explains the situation to you in plain English and gives you different pricing options. He's not socially retarded like some Geek Squads I know, and he's also quite attractive, ladies! He's pretty dedicated to his business and it shows. I called him on a Friday (on my way down from San Jose) and he was able to see me that night and fix my computer within an hour. I've called 3-4 places around, and Red Cup IT was by far the cheapest. I hate those places that try to rip you off with a $50 diagnostic fee. I know I shouldn't spend anymore money fixing my 4 year old laptop, I should spend the repair money on a newer computer. My laptop's CD/DVD drive has been broken for such a long time and I finally realized I needed to get it fixed. The guys at Red Cup were always helpful when I previously had computer questions so I decided to take my computer there to get it fixed. They did an amazing job and fixed it in even a shorter amount of time than they originally estimated! Super helpful group of workers. I also can't help but note how awesome their office is! I had a problem with my laptop and was thinking about going to Best Buy to get it fixed until I came across Red Cup IT and read the reviews. I was worried that because I hadn't backed up my important documents and pictures that all was lost. Fortunately they were able to save all my important files and were able to get my laptop back to me the very next day! The only tiny issue I have is that it can be a bit difficult to find their location. It took me a little while to find it. I would definitely come back if I have any other computer issues. read more

Red Cup IT saved my work computer from a gnarly virus and I couldn't be more grateful. One morning at the office I was greeted with the blue screen of death! I installed Norton AntiVirus the day prior so I was dumbfounded as to why my computer had an apparent virus. Not knowing what to do or who to call, I decided to search Yelp. The last IT guy I used was useless and I wanted to avoid the headache of shipping my computer to Dell and being out of commission for two weeks. I found Red Cup IT and gave them a call. They came to my office a few hours later, ran a few tests, and diagnosed the problem. The virus was such a smart sucker that it disabled by computer when I tried installing the AntiVirus software. The tech took my computer for a day and was able to rid it of the virus. None of my files were lost and I was up and running the next day. I was blown away by their excellent customer service, great communication, and their ability to fix what I perceived to be a nightmare! Thank God for Red Cup IT. My tablet PC's DC power jack went out on me (my poor Precious!) and while I was trying to take it apart, I got stuck on removing the frame and was unable to make further progress on it. I googled everything to try to find out what the source of my problem was, but to no avail. Well, it took Red Cup less than 30 seconds after I walked through the door to figure out why, and they were very knowledgeable about all my questions that I asked them. One of our computers at our office had been infected with some viruses and it finally deteriorated to the point where we could no longer connect to our network or internet. I called and they sent over one of their experts that afternoon to help us out. They were able to backup all of our data from the computer, and they got the computer back up and running like it was new again. Such a great place. I freaked when my laptop screen shattered on me. I found these guys on yelp and were by far the cheapest. They said I could bring my computer in then and there and have it done in 2 hours. After more research over the weekend, I decided they were the best option and I was not disappointed. They stayed in contact with me via email and help the part for my computer until I was ready to bring in my computer. I brought my computer in at noon and was called by four to come and pick it up. I was looking for a company to do onsite server maintenance. Called Red Cup because it got a lot of stars. First time I called, I pressed "1" for new customers. It sent me to a line that just immediately rang as busy. So I called back again, and decided to press "0" to get an operator. Someone answered (there was a ton of background noise) and she said immediately "Can I put you on hold?" I said OK and waited. After a short time another person answered and I asked if they did Small Business Server support. She said "I don't know, I'm just the answering service." So I asked, "Can I talk to someone who does know?" She said "I can send you to their answering machine and they'll call you back." I'm not too keen on playing phone tag, especially when I'm a potentially new customer so I said I'd rather speak to a human. She said, "Well, who do you think you're talking to? I'm a human." So I said, "I'd prefer to speak to a human who can actually help me." She: "Do you want their answering machine?" I said that's OK. I rather talk to a person. Just to give them a second chance, I called their number again and pressed "1" for new customers. Immediately got busy again. This was not a very good first impression! Here's a small marketing hint: If you want new customers you need to make yourself available to talk to them. That's what new customers want -- good service and being able to speak to people who can help solve their problems. What new customers DON'T want is to be put into a queue and then told to wait until the business has time to talk to you. read more

I was really stoked about going to Red Cup to fix my laptop. I tried going last week, but the shop was closed, inexplicably, during its posted business hours. I called today to see whether anyone would be there, and was told that Red Cup no longer performs home computer or laptop repair services. I was really hoping this place would work out since I needed two laptops for repair, but unfortunately I CANNOT RECOMMEND Red Cup IT. This review is based on their customer service, not their technical capability. I called in yesterday for their service and apparently reached their front desk. I told them what my issue was and the lady said the technician would call back. Couple hours go by and still no phone call so I call them again. Another lady picks up and tells me the same thing that she will let the technician know and call me back. I ask how long it usually takes for a call back and she responds "I don't know" with an attitude. I didn't receive a call back yesterday. So today I call back again, and mentioned that I waited all day yesterday very politely. Surprise, once again I am told the same exact thing - that the technical will call back and she does not know when I can expect the phone call back. Do they only have one technician?? Will they keep me in line for one whole day if I personally went to the store? Once I do get the technician who knows I might get excellent service, but never got the chance because Red Cup IT makes it look like they don't want your business. read more

I had an iMac that was running really slow. I also had two other Macs and wanted them to be networked together, so I can share the printers. I also wanted to migrate some data from the slow iMac to a Mac Mini I had purchased. On top of it, I bought an Apple TV. Dan came over to the house and in a couple of hours, fixed everything. I mean everything..... He figured out what was wrong with the iMac and within a few hours, all the Mac's were linked. Even the Apple TV was hooked up to the network. Dan really knows his stuff. He was so helpful on the phone, he gave me a free consultation and even emailed me an ebay website to get a new battery! We have had an account with RedCup IT for quite a few years and used them for small issues we had here and there. The owner, Dan Le, has always been extremely helpful and resolved our issues fast and efficiently. We recently needed to update our servers so we thought why not give RedCup a shot at the job. He came in told us what we needed to buy and quoted us a 500 price for the job. Sounded pretty good until everything went south. After we received the product he suggested for us to buy he began transferring our server over. That was the last I heard from him. Called him and his answering service 10 times or so. Left numerous voicemails. I told his IT guy who was servicing our computers (not the server) numerous times to have Dan Le call us about the server job. After a few weeks I sent an email and left multiple voicemails for him to bill us for the time he put in and to cease work on our servers. I have still not heard from him until I received an invoice today almost 2 1/2 months later for the full price of the service. This Dan Le has a lot of nerve to bill me for a job he didnt do. Its fine to have him fix your computer or do small little jobs but if there is anything major I would leave it to someone else. I actually ended up paying another company 1300 to finish and fix the problem that Dan Le caused. I dont doubt that Dan Le is skilled at IT, however the most skilled person in the world is useless if you cant get a hold of them. Save yourself some time and headache and look elsewhere for your IT service. read more

The price quote was reasonable. Even though it took longer than expected (because he had to use outside source to work on a circuit board issue), the job was done professionally.
