This place is my new go to for Asian cuisine. I've only been 2 times and already can't wait to go back. I've had the broccoli dish with tofu both times, extra spicy and it's been exactly the same each time. Lots of veggies, saucy and the flavor is amazing. Oh, and I also order a side of udon noodles to go with my meal. You get what you pay for. An excellent meal, large portions and a fabulous environment. We were regulars at the new Peking and sad to see them close. Sam and Jessica were such kind people and they are surely missed. They took with them much of the buildings personality and charm. Gone are the bricks loaded with fortunes and the kitschy Chinese decor. My husband described the new ambiance as "sterile". I appreciated the updated lighting, open layout and remodeled bathrooms greatly, but still missed the quirky atmosphere I was used to. We had a pot of the sticky rice tea which was fragrant and delicious. Then we enjoyed the calamari appetizer. The calamari was very tender with a perfectly fried Panko coating. For our meal we split the dry fried chili garlic green beans. The green beans were very fresh and Al dente. The sauce was spicy and plentiful with lots of garlic. There was plenty of tofu that was cooked well. I really enjoyed this dish. We got a side of rice that had great flavor and consistency. The server was prompt and courteous. She kept our water glasses full, and checked in on us to see how we enjoyed our meal, but otherwise left us alone. This is not a bad thing at all just different from the conversations we would have with Jessica and Sam coming out from the kitchen to see how our food was. Sheer delight. The spicy veggie yakisoba I got was all kinds of flavorful. The service was fast and friendly, and the ambience seemed fine though I took mine to go. Their meat dishes are also great and their level of heat is a bit hotter than I'm used to but still great. A perfect blend with the other flavors present. read more

An outstanding new Asian restaurant in the updated building that housed the Old Peking restaurant for several decades. The young couple who own, cook & manage the Red Ginger are not only delightful, but friendly & very competent. We first visited for a midday lunch meal. It did not disappoint. I had PadThai and my daughter chose a Curry soup meal. They were both splendidly prepared and served well. We also had a pot of tea which complimented our food. It liked it so much that Red Ginger was the first choice when my husband & I next dined out together. That was also during lunch, with us choosing Mongolian Beef & Seven-flavor Beef entrees. The portions are very generous & we each took a small portion home with us. We have added Red Ginger to our list of must-go-to eateries in Bellingham... Definitely five stars!! read more

Let me start by saying the Food was great! We started with the fried dumplings and the wontons in chili oil. Both were great options for appetizers, I did prefer the wontons in chili oil! Our main courses were the green beans,Mongolian Beef and the 7 Flavor beef! All of them had great flavor! The Green Beans were perfectly cooked and crunchy with a good garlic flavor! The Beef for both entrees were very well done and not over cooked! The Service was really good! She was great about refilling out waters and checking on us! The restaurant itself is very clean! Just had dinner here and splurged for Christmas. What I noticed from the actual menu in the restaurant, and what yelp says the cost is $5 to $10 less on the real menu at the restaurant. That is insane as far as I'm concerned. The food and people are fabulous and way more affordable than YELP would have you believe. We ordered takeout yesterday 8/15 for the first time. The food was good and affordable. We ordered 4 items and rice and were out the door for about $85 including tip. It fed 2 adults and 3 teenagers with enough leftover for me to have a good sized lunch today. We had the Veggie Lo mein which was just a great dish, the Mongolian beef which had a good kick to it with regular spiciness, the Tofu Garlic green beans which again were wonderful and I would order again in a heartbeat, and the Orange chicken, which the kids loved, but I was such a huge fan of the Orange chicken at New Peking that my expectations were a bit high, for me it was a bit too sweet, and almost had a ketchup taste to it... I am being nitpicky though because I ate it and enjoyed it. Overall the quality and quantity is worth the value as far as what we ordered goes. We will be going back and are looking forward to trying the Mongolian Yakisoba and are glad to have new options in town. Delicious food like nowhere else. Have had a hard time finding good Chinese food in the area since Ocean Bay in Blaine closed. Glad the owners opened Red Ginger! It's a 30 minute drive for me, but more than worth the trip! Service is quick and pleasant, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. read more
