    I came here recently with my family to celebrate a special occasion. We made reservations in advance and requested to be seated near a window. We ended up being seated on the balcony, so not a window, but still a nice view. We shared the tapas plate, which came with pan con tomate, marcona almonds, cheese/marinated mushroom skewers, fennel crackers, and chorizo. Bread and butter is available upon request, and I highly recommend requesting it. The bread comes out warm and crunchy. For my meal, I had the chicken liver parfait, which was topped with cherries and served with crostini. I also had the beet salad, which was served over yogurt. Both were pretty good. For dessert, we shared the olive oil cake, which was on the specials menu. This is a restaurant where you are paying for the view. The prices are a little high for the quality of the food itself and the menu isn't very cohesive (ex.: tapas, edamame, and tostada all available). All that being said, the service was decent and we had a good time.

    Wowzers, what an incredible location! The view is gorgeous, it's right smack on the Hudson River. If it wasn't 100 degrees outside, I would have loved to sit outside. Mental note was made to come back during more mild weather. I imagine it's probably also a lovely place to have brunch. We went for dinner at 6:15 on a Friday evening in late July. We made a reservation but didn't need one. I've seen better drink menus, I've seen worse. The spicy guava margarita piqued my interest and I went with that. GF was boring and ordered a pinot grigio. I was excited for the cocktail but it was all guava and no spicy other than just a jalapeno slice on top. There were some intriguing appetizers but we went with "something snack" GF says. Maybe table snack? It was almost like a lil finger food thing with crackers, spicy cheese cubes, olives, and almonds. It was surprisingly sparse for a $15 appetizer but I guess this is NY after all. There were literally I want to say 3 or 4 crackers that were a very unusual shape. GF wasn't into them because they were too "cookie-esque" but only in texture, they were definitely savory in taste. The almonds were delicious and were albino almonds or I guess just regular almonds with the lil skin taken off. The olives were tasty. The cheese cubes were like cheese but with a spicy seasoning and they were TO DIE. I wish there were more than 4. I ordered the pasta alla norma. The rigatoni was delightfully al dente. The sauce was copious but also copious in terms of onions which I despise so trying to avoid them was most of my dinner experience. I'd get it again though. I do wish they had more vegetarian entrees. GF ordered the nicoise salad with salmon which looked amazing. Tons of veggies and salmon. GF says "it was excellent, very nicely dressed". The service was very good. Our server was attentive without being too up our ass. Overall, a good experience primarily due to the location.

    Location - 7 (views, ambiance) Food - 3 Service 3.5 Wonderful location, right by the Hudson River, wonderful views. We were sitting inside as outside was sunny and umbrellas offered limited coverage. We visited the restaurant for Sunday brunch. I had a blood orange/Prosecco drink, a cross between Bellini and Mimosa. The drink was fine, but $17 for a little champagne flute? We shared an appetizer called tapas on the river which looked like a plate of snacks a child would make for himself at home. I ordered classic eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfect for the Benedict, but the rest of absolutely mediocre (taste, presentation, etc). My wife had crab cake sandwich - the crab cake was possibly the worst I ever had. Service was okay - nothing wrong, but just okay. You can go there for the views, but probably not for food.

    What a delicious afternoon I just had, at Red Hat on the River. My friend and I wanted to try something new and after a coin toss, Red Hat it was! I wish the weather had been better because Red Hat sits beautifully on the Hudson and the views would have been incredible. Thanks a lot, fog. The hosts greeted us and sat us immediately. Now here's where the first and only* hiccup of the night occurred: I asked our server if they had Coke or Pepsi products. She said "Pepsi" but when she saw that I clearly had a coke preference, she stated "well I think we have some cans of coke". You mean the best kind of coke? GREAT! I anxiously awaited my can of coke but when the server brought over the glass, already filled with "coke", my suspicions grew. I took a sip of what was clearly FLAT Pepsi. As Judge Judy once said, "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining." No way soda from a CAN would have tasted like that...and I know my coke. No big deal, I ordered a "sprite" or whatever they actually served and it was fine. For apps we ordered the peach burrata and the crab cakes. The crab cakes, while yummy, were INCREDIBLY small. I'm talking ACTUAL bite size. The peach burrata was amazing! The peaches mixed with cucumbers were incredibly fresh and made for such a fresh bite. We asked for some bread to accompany the burrata. (Side note: what is it with places serving burrata with no toast points or bread? I don't get that) For our entrees we had the lobster roll with a side salad and the rice bowl with shrimp. NO NOTES!! The rice bowl was fragrant and delicious and the lobster was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Since we ate all our food, we knew we deserved dessert. We both ordered the golden latte but mine was hot while hers was iced. I appreciated what they tried to do there, but both of our drinks could've been a little sweeter. I asked for some sugar and it definitely helped. Along with our drinks we shared the lemon ricotta cake. It was superb! We literally ate everything! I actually can't wait to try it again with my fiancé. They have a steak frite on the menu and you can choose whether you want strip steak or a ribeye!

    Red Hat on the River is such a charming spot it gave off a distinctly European vibe, despite being nestled right in Westchester. The space itself is beautifully designed with a chic, airy ambiance that makes you feel like you've been transported somewhere along the Riviera. We started with the arugula salad, which was light, fresh, and a perfect appetizer. For my main course, I had the chicken Milanese, which was absolutely massive but so delicious the crispy cutlet paired perfectly with the pesto and the fresh little salad on top. When it came to dessert, I couldn't decide between the affogato dessert and the chocolate cake, so I left it up to my waitress to surprise me she chose the chocolate cake, which was rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. The overall experience felt elevated yet relaxed, and I'd definitely come back.

    This is the place to attend on a Wednesday evening as soon they open for business, a quiet place to take friends/ coworkers/ family , service is great, not crowed at all , able to eat peacefully, great view of the Hudson & bridge. Food made & prepared well. Able to make reservations or just walk in, plenty of parking, after dinner walk in the boardwalk . Had the meatball & crab cake soft & tender. The burger and steak is a must try. Home made pasta tasty . The chocolate cake and key lime pie are delicious. Good portion , not overwhelming Or heavy.

    We returned to RH and brought friends with us. As always the staff from the host to Betty our server everyone the best. The menu and drinks were great, including the desserts options. The atmosphere nice, noice level was average, one may carry a conversation. The location is priceless, the restaurant is well kept. Try Red Hat on the River you won't regret it.

    Went here for lunch with a bunch of people and we shared a bunch of stuff! I got a lavender mocktail that wasn't quite my style as it was a bit bitter and I tend to like sweeter drinks but that was on me for ordering something floral. We all shared the burrata and grilled peaches, charcuterie and meatballs. The meatballs were so yummy. I loved the combination of burrata, toast and the grilled peaches. The charcuterie was good too, I always like to see what restaurants decide to include in their charcuterie because it gives me a chance to explore something I've never tried before. I found out that I might like mortadella lol. My only gripe was the lack of variety with the cheeses. Now we also shared some desserts; lemon ricotta cake, flourless chocolate cake, olive oil cake with peaches and key lime pie. I was a bit disappointed in the lemon ricotta cake, it had a weird texture that was off putting for me and I couldn't really pinpoint where this was coming from but it was like biting into something that had poppy seeds or something and the berry compote that came with it had the complete opposite flavor profile of the cake. The cake was supposed to be light and refreshing but the compote was warm and had a wintery, molasses taste that didn't go well. The chocolate cake was okay, I know flourless chocolate cake always has a more bitter taste but I always hope for something more fudgy. I did love the olive oil cake with peaches was a perfect cake balanced with the refreshing peach and whipped cream. And my favorite thing of the day for last: that awesome key lime pie. It was so wonderfully balanced and not too sour. Really rounded out the lunch in the best way! I think there are some things that could be tweaked but overall I liked pretty much everything!

    This place was so beautifully decorated and in such an interesting location. Can't wait to revisit during the summer and sitting outside to enjoy the water views. I was taken here by my sisters for my birthday and I had it on my bucket list of restaurants for about 5-6 years. Glad we went, I didn't give a 5 star because we had to purchase straws. Now I know that sounds odd and shouldn't affect the score but it should be written somewhere even on the menu maybe that they don't do straws not even paper ones and you only get a cocktail stirrer which sorry but how do you stir your drink without one lol $.75 for a reusable straw which I don't even know where I put it after we left. The food was amazing, service was great, drinks so/so wasn't impressed but won't deter me from trying again another time.

    We stopped for dinner to get a view of the river. The view is absolutely stunning and the interior of the restaurant is lovely. We started with the olives and tuna tostadas. But we're excellent but I think the olives are really special. For dinner, I had moules frites, my daughter had branzino, and my mom had the pasta. Ask for lemon with your fish. I tried a zero proof pomegranate martini that was quite good. I had a golden latte which was delicious. My daughter had the lemon ricotta cake which was very special. The service was courteous and attentive. I recommend you stop by and check it out.

    It was so lovely to spend an afternoon on their patio enjoying the water. Service was great, everyone very accommodating. We just split apps -- crab cakes and garlic parm fries. I do not think the crab cakes were worth the price but the fries were great. Food aside, I think this place is totally worth it just to be able to sit on the water.

    Great drinks (bit pricey), solid food, excellent views. Tried the crab cakes, burger, and BBQ Chicken sandwich (Labor Day menu). Really enjoyed the burger--it was perfectly cooked as requested. The crab cakes were also great. BBQ Chicken sandwich was satisfying but fell kind of short. It was fried chicken with some sort of BBQ sauce coating. But the combination didn't work for us because the fried chicken skin got soggy. We'll be back to soak up the views of the river. Thank you Red Hat!

    The food was good. Service was fine. Nice place, right on the River. One drink, one appetizer and one entree was $120 including tip.

    If you have brunch on certain holidays,Do they include the tip on your bill, Or do you leave the tip separate?

    I've eaten here several times - as a party of four, and of two. No tip was added to the bill. Most places only do that where there is a large group - usually more than six. I am not aware of this practice here.

    Is there a charge for the bread and butter that's "served in request"?

    No.

    What's the dress code for brunch?

    No dress code. It's pretty casual...

    Do they have heat lamps outside?

    No but i was here in June

    How's the parking here?

    There is a large parking lot; it is shared with other places in the area. However, didn't have trouble finding a spot (we on a weekend, at sunset, in the summer).

    Neat casual

    What is the Dress code for lunch?

    It is more anything goes/downtown city feel than fancy. It is not inexpensive so some people were in dresses, but others were in jeans.

The building itself is white with with a blue door and accents and the walkway from the entrance to the dining area is decorated with sculptures in recessed cubbies in the wall. The main dining room is spacious and inviting with a lush ceiling and touches of warm, golden furnishings. It was bustling on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Diners were seated indoors and outdoors. We didn't get a chance to see the outdoor space but on a hot and sunny day, my family was fine and comfortable in the shade indoors. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Once I was seated and waiting for the rest of my party, he advised the time for last orders to be placed. My party of 6 ordered almost every appetizer and several of the limited number of mains offered on the lunch menu. The appetizers came out as they were ready. The beet salad and lobster salad came out first and were refreshing. The saganaki and watermelon appetizer was an interesting pairing and surprisingly delightful. We ordered two of the grilled octopus as it's usually a favorite within my group when dining at a Greek or Mediterranean establishment. Unfortunately, the octopus came chopped in small pieces and was uninteresting. IMHO this dish is not worth the price or the calories. Of the set of 4 spreads/dips, all were tasty and went nicely with the accompanying pita bread. We ended up doubling on this. The crispy shrimp and calamari, eggplant and zucchini chips, and the Greek meatballs were satisfying and a hit with everyone. Despite the disappointment with the grilled octopus, overall the appetizers were much more impressive than the entrees. For our mains, we got 2 of the filet mignon with eggs, the sirloin burger, the Lountza sandwich, the chicken souvlaki, the crispy shrimp wrap, and the shrimp roll. If we had to rank these dishes, the chicken would top the list, followed by the sirloin burger, and the rest would be last. Consistency in preparation and flavor profiles of the dishes is lacking. For example, we requested the filets cooked medium, however one filet was medium in some parts, medium rare in others. Personally, I enjoy medium rare and ate those pieces. As for the other filet, it was medium rare and borderline rare and inedible for my party. We requested additional heat for the dish, which the kitchen accommodated, but the meat came back basically well done SMH. While the chicken and burger were juicy and appetizing, the other dishes, albeit topped with many ingredients, were bland. Perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed, which resulted in receiving our entrees about two hours after placing the order and the poor, or at least decline in quality of, execution of our dishes. Considering the restaurant has been open almost two years, it is normal to expect experience in managing the weekend crowds. While we were advised about the hard stop on placing orders, it was a missed opportunity for our waiter to check if we wanted to add desserts to our meal. No warning or follow-up was made as the cutoff time was approaching. Normally, I would praise the experience and service, but the final straw was in the handling of leftovers and with the valet. We had several unfinished or untouched dishes we wanted packed to go. Upon checking the containers at home, not everything was packed. When waiting outside for our cars, one of our cars was already pulled up with the door open and ready to be driven away. Problem was, the car belonged to my sister, who was in the restroom at the time and had her ticket. Anyone could've driven her car away. Thankfully the valet cooperated and drove the car to the side and my sister retrieved it without incident. Overall, the experience was lengthy and off-putting. If you need a beautiful space with a good selection of small bites and have hours to spare, e.g. a special event, then this place is for you. If you are interested in a full meal, and have only 2-3 hours for a meal, this is not the place for you.

The space is well staffed, with many people milling around, and they make you feel well cared for. The menu is a mixture of seafood, steak, and tapas type things. Entrees are about $40-70, appetizers are around $20-30, and the tapas items are $5 but small. They had a few specials, one of which was a $68 steak social with bone marrow filled with cheese and corn, as well as guacamole and aioli sauce; with the caveat that I'm not a big fan of meat, I didn't think this was a special dish but i liked the concept. The flounder was breaded with a well-dressed salad; typically I don't like fried fish and now I remember why and for $46 and a pretty common fish, i want to be wow'ed. The calamari and croquette were fine too. I did enjoy the tiramisu ($15) but it didn't feel like the best ever per se. Yes they had a couple lobster dishes and other seafood like mussels and oysters. The space has a lot of windows, which makes sense given its proximity to the city. Parking was easy. Overall we had a nice time, but don't "need" to return for awhile.
