You know those swinging saloon doors in old western movies where the cowboy makes that entrance and the folks inside stare at you up and down? Or how about Twilight Zone's opening theme music we thought of when we first walked in this pub on Main St in Dobbs Ferry? It's all good. This also strikes as a Cheers reboot- because everyone knows your name.....that is, if you're a regular. Doubleday's has a classic pub design with lots of woods and brass handles. There's plenty of seating to choose from: regular tables in one dining area, high-top seating on another and the main bar action in the middle. We chose a table. We skipped appetizers and went straight for drinks and main plates. My thin, gingery-soy glazed salmon had nice taste and the load of buttery string beans they pass of as 'vegetables' (I was expecting a medley) were a terrific side and hubs liked his medium NY Strip with these puffy crinkle fries. He would've looooved his steak if it had more char after requesting it several times. But in true pub fashion, it was my Lemon Drop that had all the signs and taste of a powerful pour. Hubs enjoyed his pint. Even for our first-time, the atmosphere is invitingly lively and service was fantastic all around. If you're still wondering, pub hospitality is all here.

You know for some reason I thought I had already reviewed this place right after my first visit. But that was a year and some change ago. Guess not. This place is a bar. Bar food, bar ambiance, bar stool. Bar service, bar everything, everyone, everybody... but Customer service...top tier. God like Bathroom.... Clean ANDREW the waiter and service/bar dude: HE WAS AWESOME THE FOOD. Even though I ordered a breaded chicken cutlet wrap and about 60% of it tastes like vegetables nothing wrong with it but I did expect a BIT MORE MORE MEAT. I LIKE BALANCED MEALS YA KNOW...Overall the food was made with good quality customer service ! Especially with my extra condiments because y'all know I'm a sauce guy aka extra chipotle mayo on everything. THE FRIES WERE CRIPS (these are the new fries they debuted whenever they did) because last I remember they had shoestring and waffles... BUT THESE GOD TIER THICK CRINKLE CUT FRIES.... omg....... I also ordered a side salad to balance everything out with extra red onions (red onions on anything is BETTER) remember that. Overall my first time last year was good. My second or third time today was good and comforting.. Please support the locals ! And drink responsibly (I don't drink)

Everything you want your local dive to be. Great down-home clientele. Hostess was exceptionally friendly. Bartender was a kind, lovely guy. NYC prices. We didn't eat, but the food looked great. Standard bar fare. We'll be back to try it out again!

Housed in a revitalized historic train station directly next to the Metro-North tracks and Waterfront Park." I must say there is something about train stations and their nearby eateries. Whenever, my friends and I travel to the Hudson Valley, from Tarrytown, to Cold Spring to Poughkeepsie, there are always restaurants that jut out from the train stations. I must say, the food is awesome. Today, my friend Rochelle and I were in a New York Stare of Mind, and followed Billy Joel's instructions but took the Metro North vs a Greyhound bus to Dobbs Ferry. We took in the sun and the Hudson River before dining at Hudson Social. A cool eatery offering a bit of upscale pub food. The menu offers burgers, salads, tacos and a brunch menu until 3pm on weekends. We were in the mood for something light thus we ordered tacos: brisket for Rochelle, pulled pork for myself and a side of hand cut fries. Here's where a bit of a disconnect arose: Rochelle did not want pico de gallo but the server should have instructed her to add a different ingredient to prevent dryness. The brisket was cooked perfectly with a slight char mixed with guacamole but could have used a kick and cilantro. The soft taco was flavorless. My pulled pork taco was delicious: Mango salsa with pineapple chunks, pork was also slightly roasted and guacamole gave it a delicious flavor. I also thought cilantro should have been added. The hand cut fries were good not great, but portion was generous. There was live music: a flutist who played with prerecorded music. There is a bar as well to purchase drinks. Dining al fresco is a must; the view of the Hudson River is wonderful. Must say, the server was not friendly and checked on us mid way through meal. Some folks do like to get away.. and a trip to Dobbs Ferry for a beautiful lunch on the Hudson, is well worth it.

Abdul, our bartender, remembered my name, which made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. It's those personal touches that create a memorable dining experience. During our meal, we accidentally ordered the wrong paella. We knew it was our mistake and never intended to ask for a replacement. However, the owner overheard our conversation and immediately stepped in to make it right without hesitation. That level of hospitality and customer care is rare and speaks volumes about how they treat their guests. The attention to detail extends to the bar as well. Their Old Fashioned is made the way it should be--with a large ice block that keeps the drink cold without watering it down. As John Taffer often says, "If an Old Fashioned doesn't have a large ice block, they're not paying attention to detail." Basque clearly does. If you're looking for outstanding food, exceptional service, and a restaurant that truly cares about its customers, I highly recommend Basque. Give it a try--you won't be disappointed.

The seafood paellas are portion perfect ie; large, the tapas favorites include garlic shrimp, octopus, croquetas, Iberico ham, lamb chops, and seasonal specials. Because the dining room is relatively small, expect a noisy environment. Weekend waits can be long because of this restaurant's popularity, but it is so worth the wait. The staff is friendly, the clientele is neighborly, and you're guaranteed to enjoy your restaurant experience here. For Piermont, it's one of the strongest dining experiences available, particularly if one enjoys sharing plates. If you're going for the first time, I'd order the garlic shrimp, a few tapas to share, and one of the paellas for the table. Thank you Benny for bringing Piermont to our neighborhood. *For those across the river in Westchester, enjoy Basque in Tarrytown.

The baked clams and mussels were outstanding, and the crusty bread was perfect for soaking up every drop of sauce. I added jalapeños to the Snow White pizza and it was incredible. The dough had the perfect chew and flavor. My boyfriend's chicken parm was massive--two huge cutlets--and easily a 10/10. The seafood pasta was equally delicious. Dessert was the perfect finish: frozen espresso, refreshing lemon sorbet, and a giant tiramisu that's big enough for a crowd. My only small complaint is that guests pack their own leftovers. At this level, I think the staff should handle that. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, he was extremely dismissive and simply said no, then added that there were no tables available for us--which was odd considering the group right after us got seated immediately. I'm not sure if it was how we were dressed or what, but his overall attitude felt very cold and unwelcoming. We ended up sitting at the bar, and to be fair, Bill did help coordinate with the bartender Ana to get us seats together, which I appreciated. Ana herself was kind and attentive, though when we asked for food recommendations, she mostly just said "everything is great." I personally prefer a bit more honest guidance. For food, we shared the Hot Honey Roni Sicilian, Caesar salad, and calamari fritti. The pizza was definitely the highlight--super delicious and satisfying, especially as my first time trying that style. The Caesar salad was good, but for $16, I found the portion a bit small. The calamari was also solid, though we didn't love the sauce it came with. While we were eating, Bill noticed where we had placed our bikes (near the stairs where we could keep an eye on them) and came over rather abruptly, asking why they were in "his garden." Even after my friend apologized, he just walked away. His overall presence throughout the visit really hurt the experience--definitely not the kind of hospitality you expect. Overall, the experience was okay. The drinks were good, and my friend and I always make the best of things, but for the price point (about $80 each with two drinks and tip), I expected better service and slightly more generous portions. I'd consider going back, especially if we're biking in the area again--but next time, we'll definitely bring bike locks...and avoid the garden

The centerpiece of this restaurant in my opinion is the beautiful horse shoe shaped bar in the middle of the restaurant. I typically enjoy a nice clean and clear bar so you can fall into the feeling of the restaurant and see what is happening all around. This bar had bottles of wines lining the bar, in my opinion I would remove the bottles and allow for a more open feel. Personally I felt that the bottles created a barrier between me and the bar tender. The outside tables are tables typically for 2 or 4 people with banquet seating and then chairs. Oh, my God How's this boy treating you? Very good wonderful started The service was attentive but not over bearing which created a relaxed feeling.. I was looking for a wine and cheese bar for a night our for myself. I wanted a place that I have not been to before and yelp directed me here Wines on Aug range from 15 and up for a glass which is not outrageous in price. They had a nice selection of wines and I stepped out of ny own comfort zone of a cab and tried the house Pinot Noir accompanied by the B6 board. Overall I was satisfied with the meat and cheese selection and baguette that was served with it had a nice oil on it. Presentation was well done with one exception in my mind, the breads ticks came in a package. Presentation factor went down with that. Take one of the small wife carafe used to serve the wine and present it in that. Overall I felt something was missing but could not put my finger on it. Overall this place has a great date night vibe.
