I had lunch with some friends yesterday. As always, the food and service were superb! Also great to hear the blues while eating their savory offerings. Best potato salad other than my grandma's anywhere. The only complaint I have is that the Smokin' Hot BBQ sauce, nee Hoochie Coochie (why they changed the name, I can only guess), is not nearly as hot and spicy as it used to be. It used to be the best BBQ sauce in the business. Still good but disappointing. For those who don't like hot and spicy, there are plenty of options. We are on our way home to New York. We pulled off 301 in Annapolis, MD and we stopped here to eat. I am glad we did. When we entered the restaurant I could smell good food. We hit a nice gem to eat at. The Hostess and our waitress Rachel were very nice. We got seated right away. The restaurant was getting busy. We got there around 4pm. My husband had a plate of pulled pork, pulled chicken, hush puppies, cornbread & mac & cheese and he fully enjoyed it and ate everything on his plate. I had the cheeseburger with Swiss & sautéed onions and fried pickles, & grandmas potatoe salad. My burger was cooked the way I like it. The wait for food was really good. The decor was Blues theme, with statue of Elvis, the Blues Brothers and Autographed Photos, signs about Blues History. If we didnt have a long ride still ahead of us, we could have hung out longer. If you need a rest from the road or live in the town its a must go to. Restaurant and Bathrooms were both clean. Glad we lucked into it read more

I had the pulled pork sandwich which was excellent and stuffed enough to share with another person. The meat was tender and delicious. The fries were excellent...everything was! My family decided we were in the mood for a bbq lunch today and we went to check out Red Hot & Blue having heard great things about it from friends. We ordered our kids meals first, so they would come out first (pro tip!) and they ordered the kids portions of the ribs and chicken wings with broccoli and carrots as their sides. We also ordered them some fries for good measure. I ordered the burnt tips meal with the sweet potato casserole and tater tots as my sides. My meal was so tasty and filling! I can't recommend it enough. It also came with corn bread, which was scrumptious. I was so engulfed in my meal I forgot to get a pic of my husband's lunch. I'll add that and update this soon! The service was really great as well. Our server was attentive and responsive. Sadly, I'd leave a 0 if Yelp would let me after our visit this evening. After going to a concert in Easton we stopped by Red Hot & Blue in Annapolis. We had considered two other restaurants but unfortunately....we chose RH&B. We ordered the Onion Basket for an appetizer. The menu described it as "A big ol' basket of crispy, lightly-battered onions" what we received was a mashed up pile of soggy, greasy barely battered onions. They...were horrible! I ordered the beef brisket chili for me. The menu described it as "Our award winner! Loaded with Texas brisket, kidney beans, tomatoes, and a touch of jalapeño. Topped with cheese and onions". What I got was a good sized bowl of the absolutely worst tasting mixture I have ever been served. From inspection I can only assume that the person who cooked the chili let it burn to the pot because the bowl I received not only tasted burned but it had chunks of black charred I don't know what floating in the bowl. There were exactly 3 very small pieces of fatty brisket and possibly a 1/4 a cup of kidney beans in my bowl. What else was in there I don't know but it was nothing but red mush, not a chunk of tomato to be seen! Also, there must have been a whole chopped red onion topping my dish! Horrible is too kind a word for what I received. My gentleman ordered the catfish and ribs. The catfish crust was soggy and the fish itself rubbery. As for the ribs...simply full of fat. In truth, nothing at all about the meal was satisfactory for the $55+ we paid for the meal. We did leave a sufficient tip...only because we understood that the quality of food we received was not our waitresses fault. I am sorry we chose this restaurant for dinner our other choices would have definitely been better. To conclude...I felt sick as soon as we got up to leave. In fact, as soon as I got home I lost this dinner in the appropriate receptacle. Will we ever visit this restaurant again...very doubtful. Will we ever visit any other Red Hot & Blue...again, doubtful! read more

Another good experience at RH&B. We ordered $450 worth of smoked meat and potato salad for a group of 40 in our backyard. The smoked pork was really delicious and was wiped out by the end of the party. The smoked chicken was a little dry but still tasty. Their potato salad is one of the best I have had anywhere. The food was ready when they said it would be. Brought it out to my car. I supplied a variety of gourmet BBQ sauces to accompany their sauce. Mine got the vote over theirs. Overall this was decent food, but I don't know that it was a favorite of ours. Really enjoyed the pulled pork which came with three dipping sauces (all were good and bonus points that one was Carolina style/vinegar based), my husband had brisket he said it was really lean (which isn't his preference). Just at the Western end of the Bay Bridge sits a place with a windmill and a pig statue on their roof. We have passed by here alot on our way from Baltimore. Always wanted to see what it was, well today was the day! We were not disappointed! We ordered the carry out and sat outside on this most beautiful late summer day with the Gurlz. This is real smoked BBQ and it was absolutely delicious! The half slab(really a half) of ST. Louis meaty ribs fell off the bone and had a nice hard glaze of Bourbon & Molasses. Sticky sweetness. This came with two sides and I added corn bread. Their onion basket side was really good and all were generous portions. And of course we had the gallon of Southern Sweet Tea(came home with us). Eight of us stopped by Red Hot & Blue for dinner last Saturday. We were able to order pretty quickly and the food came out super fast. The service was friendly and helpful. THE WHOLE SMOKER - 22.99 This comes with five smoked meats on a huge plate including two sides and cornbread. My favorite meat was definitely the pulled pork which was flavorful, tender, and a bit of fattiness that melts in your mouth. The sausage was pretty good, too, as it was fat and juicy. The Texas brisket had a lot of potential, but ours was pretty dry. I was not a fan of the pulled chicken or turkey breast. If I ever come back, I'll avoid ordering those options. The cornbread was very good, a bit nutty and fluffy at the same time. The two sides we got were the mac & cheese (satisfied my cravings and very creamy) and the potato salad (lots of flavors everywhere, not my favorite, but I can see why people enjoy it). I shared this platter with two others and somehow we were satisfyingly full after this plus an additional side. SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE - 3.50 This was the additional side that my two friends and I shared. The sweet potato casserole here is so good. It's so simple with the perfect texture and sweetness. Very addictive, we'd highly recommend this one! The sweet potato casserole and cornbread were well-loved by our group, so a couple people got more to-go to enjoy at home. My best friend is a preacher at a church 20 minutes from this location, and we made a 90 minute trip for his church service today and decided to stop here for lunch afterwards. They got us seated right away and we're quick with taking our orders and getting our drinks served to our party of 8. I absolutely love the ambiance here, with the pictures on the walls and other miscellaneous memorabilia throughout. The food was absolutely on point, too. The ribs were fantastic. The cornbread was great. I loved tasting my wife's potato salad, and we had a great meal overall. I'm so looking forward to coming back here again soon! read more

Horrible service!! Came by on a Thursday around 2pm. I was sat and I waited for about 10 minutes and no one came by to acknowledge I was there. I flagged down the hostess to see who is suppose to be taking care of my order, that's when my server spoke up and said she will be right over. I ordered everything at one time since I had so much time to study the menu. After taking my order my server came back to ask what was one of the side order. She never came back to check on me during my meal. She did checked on the tables next to me. It wasn't busy during that hour. I asked for the check and a to go container from her since I wasn't feeling comfortable. I used to serve food in DC and I know what a great friendly service is like. I still tip her 20% even though the service was horrible. She treated everyone well around her section but just ignoring me. Maybe I was the only Asian, not to sound racist but it could be the reason or maybe because I came in with short and flip flop since I just visited Sandy Point which is a few miles from this restaurant. Servers should treat everyone the same not the way people look nor where they came from. Not like this is a top 5 stars dining. It's summertime wearing flip flop and short to dine in the city is normal at where I came from, DC. Food was average! The server's name is Amelia R! Maybe management can do something about this issue or retrain their servers on service. I do not feel comfortable at this place. Really great bbq spot right before the bridge with a great theme, and great music! Came here for lunch, their lunch menu is great and is plenty of food. My father and I both got the Smokehouse salad with blue cheese and YUM. I really wanted to try the brisket and chicken, and this was certainly a great execution of both. The BBQ sauces at the table was very tasty and mixed well with the veggies and dressing. Our server was really great, made sure we had plenty of refills on the big diet cokes. However, I think they would have been tastier if we had them pprepared with bbq sauce. The service was fast and friendly. Seating was plentiful and comfortable. I stopped into this place on a whim - drawn in by the rickety windmill gracing the roof. For a lot of restaurants, a shabby exterior is a bad thing, but for a BBQ place, it's often the sign of excellent smoked meat waiting inside. (At least, that's what I've found!) I didn't expect a sit down, table service place, but that's what this is. It still has a dark and dicey feel that I want in a BBQ place though. Since I was by myself, I sat at the bar where there's also full service. Prices were a bit steep, but portions and quality were there to make it worth it. I ordered the burnt end plate with the potato salad and coleslaw as my sides. It also came with a decent piece of cornbread (which I didn't expect was glad to have as I didn't order hush puppies). The coleslaw was crunchy and tasty, but nothing super special. The potato salad was simple - just mashed up taters with mayo, celery, shallots (maybe?), salt and pepper, but it was really good. You don't need a ton of add-ijs to make a good potato salad and this one nailed it. On to the meat - this is BBQ after all, so that should be the show, right? It was! Burnt ends are my fave BBQ meat, if they're done right. Lots of places drown them in a sweet sauce and sometimes they're really fatty. Not here. Red Hot & Blue serves theirs unsauced with a cup of a sweet-mildly spicy bourbon based sauce on the side. That means the meat is still crispy, like I want my burnt ends to be. I wanna taste that char - they're BURNT after all! All the pieces I got were meaty, not fatty. And there was a good portion of them too Overall another excellent example of a shabby exterior hiding excellent food!
