We are on our way home to New York. We pulled off 301 in Annapolis, MD and we stopped here to eat. I am glad we did. When we entered the restaurant I could smell good food. We hit a nice gem to eat at. The Hostess and our waitress Rachel were very nice. We got seated right away. The restaurant was getting busy. We got there around 4pm. My husband had a plate of pulled pork, pulled chicken, hush puppies, cornbread & mac & cheese and he fully enjoyed it and ate everything on his plate. I had the cheeseburger with Swiss & sautéed onions and fried pickles, & grandmas potatoe salad. My burger was cooked the way I like it. The wait for food was really good. The decor was Blues theme, with statue of Elvis, the Blues Brothers and Autographed Photos, signs about Blues History. If we didnt have a long ride still ahead of us, we could have hung out longer. If you need a rest from the road or live in the town its a must go to. Restaurant and Bathrooms were both clean. Glad we lucked into it

My family decided we were in the mood for a bbq lunch today and we went to check out Red Hot & Blue having heard great things about it from friends. We ordered our kids meals first, so they would come out first (pro tip!) and they ordered the kids portions of the ribs and chicken wings with broccoli and carrots as their sides. We also ordered them some fries for good measure. I ordered the burnt tips meal with the sweet potato casserole and tater tots as my sides. My meal was so tasty and filling! I can't recommend it enough. It also came with corn bread, which was scrumptious. I was so engulfed in my meal I forgot to get a pic of my husband's lunch. I'll add that and update this soon! The service was really great as well. Our server was attentive and responsive. She also had a sense of humor and knew how to deal with kids. :) We had a great experience, everyone ate their meals, and left full. We look forward to returning!

    Onion Basket appetizer

Sadly, I'd leave a 0 if Yelp would let me after our visit this evening. After going to a concert in Easton we stopped by Red Hot & Blue in Annapolis. We had considered two other restaurants but unfortunately....we chose RH&B. We ordered the Onion Basket for an appetizer. The menu described it as "A big ol' basket of crispy, lightly-battered onions" what we received was a mashed up pile of soggy, greasy barely battered onions. They...were horrible! I ordered the beef brisket chili for me. The menu described it as "Our award winner! Loaded with Texas brisket, kidney beans, tomatoes, and a touch of jalapeño. Topped with cheese and onions". What I got was a good sized bowl of the absolutely worst tasting mixture I have ever been served. From inspection I can only assume that the person who cooked the chili let it burn to the pot because the bowl I received not only tasted burned but it had chunks of black charred I don't know what floating in the bowl. There were exactly 3 very small pieces of fatty brisket and possibly a 1/4 a cup of kidney beans in my bowl. What else was in there I don't know but it was nothing but red mush, not a chunk of tomato to be seen! Also, there must have been a whole chopped red onion topping my dish! Horrible is too kind a word for what I received. My gentleman ordered the catfish and ribs. The catfish crust was soggy and the fish itself rubbery. As for the ribs...simply full of fat. In truth, nothing at all about the meal was satisfactory for the $55+ we paid for the meal. We did leave a sufficient tip...only because we understood that the quality of food we received was not our waitresses fault. I am sorry we chose this restaurant for dinner our other choices would have definitely been better. To conclude...I felt sick as soon as we got up to leave. In fact, as soon as I got home I lost this dinner in the appropriate receptacle. Will we ever visit this restaurant again...very doubtful. Will we ever visit any other Red Hot & Blue...again, doubtful!

Very enjoyable place to eat. Gumbalaya was amazing!! Key lime pie was good. Had a great variety of sauces to add to the ribs. Would def be a come back to spot.

Just at the Western end of the Bay Bridge sits a place with a windmill and a pig statue on their roof. We have passed by here alot on our way from Baltimore. Always wanted to see what it was, well today was the day! We were not disappointed! We ordered the carry out and sat outside on this most beautiful late summer day with the Gurlz. This is real smoked BBQ and it was absolutely delicious! The half slab(really a half) of ST. Louis meaty ribs fell off the bone and had a nice hard glaze of Bourbon & Molasses. Sticky sweetness. This came with two sides and I added corn bread. Their onion basket side was really good and all were generous portions. And of course we had the gallon of Southern Sweet Tea(came home with us). Definitely a new fave when in the area. If you ever drive by here -STOP and try it!

You order at the end, and find a seat. Your name is called and you pick up at the side counter. The dining area has plenty of seating, a private room looks available to reserve? Dining area & restrooms are bright, clean and inviting. My brother ordered fried fish with a chicken wing,, cabbage and sweet potatoes. He loved the fish & chicken- well seasoned without feeling your blood pressure rise as you indulged- LOL. The sides were good. I did the smothered porkchops - WOW, best that I have had - really enjoyed the main entrée and my sides (greens, black-eye peas). Both meals came with cornbread (another option was a biscuit). I have to say the food, the Staff and the establishment has been my best taste of southern cooking in the DMV area. I ordered chicken wings (6) to go for wife & I to enjoy later. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back - The smothered chops are calling me already. Lunch for two with a take home order of wings & 2 deserts plus tip was around $100.

The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

02/20/26 5 Stars **…read more Wife and I were in Annapolis for a doctor's appointment, and afterwards she asked, "Where are you taking me for lunch?" I jumped on Yelp and started searching. I had heard about a seafood place in Severna Park, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood. That's when I came across Betty Lou's. As soon as I looked at the food photos, I knew that's where we were headed. It was about a 20 minute ride from Annapolis not bad at all. Betty Lou's is located in a shopping center. There were a few cars in the lot when we pulled up, but I wasn't sure if they were there for the restaurant or other businesses nearby. When we walked in, there was one person sitting at the bar. We asked if we could sit there, and the bartender (don't remember her name) was very pleasant and welcoming. She thanked us for coming in, and when I mentioned I found the place on Yelp, she explained that everything is made fresh to order. They have an excellent selection of craft drinks on the menu, the assortment of cocktails and wines that look very good. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I had the Jimmy Red Old Fashioned. The drink looked fantastic, and she took her time carefully measuring each ingredient. That's how cocktails are supposed to be made balanced and flavorful, not just tasting like straight liquor. If I wanted that, I'd just order bourbon neat. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and roasted potatoes. I had already decided on the chicken pot pie after seeing it online. I did find it a little strange they don't offer mashed potatoes as a side with meatloaf, that would've made it a home run in my opinion. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The pot pie was larger than I expected compared to the pictures, and the meatloaf was a generous portion as well. After the first bite, I can honestly say it was one of the best chicken pot pies I've had loaded with tender chicken, carrots, onions, celery, and a rich, flavorful gravy. And the pastry crust? The BEST I've ever had. It was big enough that I had leftovers for dinner. My wife's meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and the collard greens were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were just okay again, mashed would've put it over the top but that's just personal preference. She also had plenty leftovers for dinner. The food was great, the décor was nicely done, and the service was excellent. If this place were closer to home, it would definitely be a regular spot for us. We need something like this down in Calvert County. Overall, if you're looking for a great meal and well-crafted drinks, Betty Lou's is absolutely worth the drive even if you live a little ways away.

We visited for the first time last night, Friday June 12,2026 @ 8pm. Based on all of the great…read morereviews I thought we were in for a treat. We were sat pretty quickly & our waitress was great. But half way through she handed us over to the bartender, who just seemed inconvenienced that we were there. My husband had just finished a beer when she took over (which was in a can, not a tap beer), she asked if he wanted another, he said yes, and brought some draught beer that definitely wasn't what he was drinking. We are very easy going, so that wasn't even the end of the world. But she wasn't very friendly so we just went with it. The food. We ordered rockfish bites for an app, chicken pot pie, bacon wrapped shrimp & Mac & cheese. I will say, everything came out quickly. Rockfish bites: Not only were they bland & salt-less, but not all of them were cooked all the way through. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were ok, but cold in spots. The chicken pot pie: This is the reason I came. Certainly you can't mess this up, seeing how my favorite pot pie is from KFC. My standards aren't that high. I wish I could add a photo to a low review. I've never seen the inside of a pot pie that was dark gray. It didn't look appetizing at all, but it's a pot pie so I'm not basing anything on appearance. Once I took a bite I realized that it was gray because there was SO MUCH ground thyme in it. Like they dumped a whole jar in there. It wasn't even edible. The Mac & cheese was really good, I wish I had just ordered that. Before you reply that we should have said something, we already felt like we were an inconvenience to the bartender & she didn't even care enough to serve the same beer that was originally ordered. We didn't even want to deal with her. So we chalked it up as a loss. Of over $100. This place is so cute, we really loved the ambiance & wanted to love the food. We definitely won't be back, but I don't think it's going to be around much longer anyway.
