I made an appointment for a gel mani & pedi and did not have to wait, was taken right away. They asked if I wanted my toes and fingers to match and offered me an array of colors that match. I did change my mind as my nails were in such bad shape and asked for natural colors and they gave me a bountiful selection to choose from. They did both my pedicure and manicure at the same time, offered me something to drink and checked to make sure the water temperature was fine, showed me how to operate the massage chair and took such excellent care of me. I was pleasantly surprised the paraffin wax treatment was included, I received a hot rock massage (was awesome), and my feet were pumiced properly not to mention my manicure included cuticle oil. The entire treatment, service and results were TOP NOTCH! I have been to so many other places over the years in CA, WA, MS, HI, NV and it was nice to be treated nicely, not charge for every extra service but to have a wonderful pedicure and manicure by two very nice people. The salon is clean, well organized showing how much pride the owners take in their salon, their prices posted and they take all forms of payment. Showed up at 3:06 for a 3pm appointment with my grandma, and owner had already given our appointment away. I admit 6 minutes is late, but is it seriously late enough to give our appointment away?? We then complained that it seems a little unreasonable (respectfully) and told we were not welcome back. Owners clock was fast on the wall showing 3:11 and he kept referring to that clock versus my iPhone clock and said my time was wrong? The staff and service were beyond wonderful!! I was the last appointment on the Friday before the big holiday weekend, and I asked them if they could change my original appointment from a gel manicure to a full acrylic set when I walked in. A HUGE ask. But for them, no problem at all. I also got a pedicure, so tack on additional time for that. They were so accommodating, respectful, friendly, and professional. Super flawed paint jobs where it dries looking weird with a thicker opaque coat of paint in the center of the nail and sheer-ish edges on some of the edges of the nail. Went with a friend a week ago to get our nails done since Phase 2 was implemented - the staff was super nice and friendly as well as wore their masks and followed protocol, but the services were questionable. The pedicure was nice and went well but for both the pedicure and manicure they did not ask about cutting nails and did a poor job of filing, evening out the nails, and cutting cuticles. They claimed they couldn't do a dip manicure for some reason (plenty of other places are doing it still..?) and had to settle on getting gel - the application was rushed, uneven, and peeled off within a week. Barry and his wife are running the salon now as CoVid has made it difficult for other employees. I'm a tough customer, as I have a favorite, highly vetted salon that I use in Bellevue. These guys not only met, but, exceeded my high standards. I had a pedicure there last week, and the massage was great. We got lucky and was able to call and get in quickly. My sister who has cancer has been cooped up in the house and wanted to get a pedicure so I brought her here. She was treated like a queen!! They were so nice and attentive to her, giving her tea and making sure everything was perfect for her. Bonus: she said it was the best pedicure she's ever had. They really don't skip a detail or step. Another Bonus: we brought kids. Didn't have a choice on this particular day but the kids behaved and they didn't seem at all bothered by them.. instead they gave them treats & juice boxes. They have our business for life! I'm back for my monthly mani/pedi... I was here about 3/4 weeks ago and I left feeling happy and pampered and now my polish is ready to be removed and replaced... My feet need some scrubbing and trimming... I really like this place... It's not the cheapest on the island, and I expected to pay more on the island to be honest, but it's worth the price, there's a lot included, they take their time and pamper the heck outta you, so it's worth it... Call in advance to make sure they can take you if you're in a hurry, but if you've got a couple hours to kill walk in after grabbing a treat up the street... If there's a bit of a wait, you can cruise thru the antique shop next door... Parking is always ample when I come, but I can imaging during summer months or afternoons on weekends it might be a different story... Last year I went and received a fantastic manicure at this nail salon. Very meticulous, un-rushed, good massage, care and pride in workmanship was evident with the young woman doing my nails. However, today, my daughter and I went in and were very disappointed. I had a man doing my service, maybe 40 years old, and it was evident he was just going through the motions. It was as though he thought the file was just to run back and forth without doing any actual filing. (I still have rough places) Cleaning up of cuticles? Not. Very little detail here and the clippers in use were dull resulting in something more along the lines of tearing my skin off rather than clipping. I was trying to communicate but his English wasn't there and I do not speak Vietnamese. I walked away with a shoddy mani/pedi. My daughter's manicurist was a woman, about the same age as the man, and though she got started several minutes after I, she finished several minutes before. My daughter is 21, wears flip flops about 75% of the year and her feet are not regularly treated with TLC. Long story short; it was a far too quick for the job at hand. If your looking for a really good mani or pedi, where you walk away with smooth, clean cuticles and a nice "paint job". Keep walking past Red Hot Nails. read more

In the mood to be yelled at by an angry man? Red Hot Nails is the place for you! As a semi-regular customer, I was shocked by the way I was treated by Barry, the salon owner, a little over a week ago. I politely let Barry know that the acetone he was using to remove my shellac polish had been on for too long and was beginning to burn my skin. He was working on another customer (in the chair next to me) and completely ignored me. She actually had to repeat what I said to him and he glanced over and said, "she's fine". After waiting for a few more minutes I peeled back the foil that was holding the acetone soaked cotton pads to my nails and noticed that the skin around my nails was turning white and red. By this point the burning was awful. I had had shellac removed many times in the past and had never had the chemical left on for so long. The polish underneath was peeling off so I decided to remove the rest of the foil to prevent further damage to my skin. When Barry saw what I had done he started YELLING at me in front of everyone in the salon. I tried to explain that it was really hurting me and that I had never had it left on so long before, but he kept yelling and telling me to leave and go somewhere else and that he "didn't have time for this". I was absolutely mortified and on the verge of tears at this point. I could tell that Lena, his wife, felt bad for me and she came over and told me I could stay. I didn't know what to do but I ended up staying and Lena finished my manicure. As a busy mom and student I don't take time for myself often. This was a special treat for me and I was so disappointed and surprised by the way I was treated. I tipped Lena before going to my car to cry. Next time I will be making the trip to Apollo in Poulsbo. read more

I was hopeful that the other reviews gave management some ideas on how to improve and that the Facebook raves would compensate, but it doesn't appear so. This place is no better than Star Nails--in fact it's not as clean and they didn't do as good of a job on my nails, but charged the same price. It seems overall pretty unsanitary in there. I'm not sure how/if they are disinfecting equipment. The staff was nice enough, and the experience pleasant-ish. I enjoyed the exfoliation and massage, though it was a bit unenthusiastic. What is most disappointing is that the actual polish job is mediocre at best. I think my eleven year old can apply polish to my nails at the same level. There is polish on most of my cuticles, and the tips weren't properly sealed so they started chipping almost immediately. Sadly, I don't live in a bubble and must use my hands. I doubt my pedicure will last long, either, and those usually last 3 weeks for me. Overall, I am incredibly disappointed and won't be going back. To Poulsbo it is! read more

Had a shellac mani and a pedi scheduled. Pedi massage was outstanding and why I'm giving two stars. The shellac mani is a total disaster. I told them to please not do shellac on toes as a result. Polish on cuticles and seriously already peeling...the owner (?) peeled of 3/4 of polish on one finger when I showed him the heavy shellac on my cuticles. Shrugged and offered to remove it but I just want to go home. At checkout owner insisted I pay for the botch job because he offered to fix it. Would not give me my money back out of the hundred dollar bill is gave him. I have attached pictures. I now have an evening of self manicure ahead of me to fix. Wanted to try new island hot spot. If I could zero star here's why. I showed up AN HOUR before their website or door said closed. I tried the door and it was locked at 6pm. The DOOR even said open until 7, when I tried to open they said they were closed. If you're the type who doesn't rely on the validity of what someone says then by all means come here. I was happy they were able to get me in on Christmas Eve and the staff was very pleasant and friendly. I had a shellac manicure and less than a week after having it done my nails were starting to chip! I get shellac fairly often and it always lasts (without chips) a minimum of two weeks. I was hoping this would last for NYE but it didn't.. and it was disappointing. read more

Visited the salon yesterday for a pedicure. I haven't been here for over a year because the owner/mgr is always rude and the place has a creepy vibe. But thot I would try again. Finishing pedicure I reached down to put my shoes on and got a good look at the floor, base board and wall. ABSOLUTELY FILTHY DIRTY. I was so appalled that I did not want to put my bare foot onto the floor to put my shoes on. I had just had my cuticles cut and this is unsafe. When I discreetly tried to tell the mgr. that he really needs to clean he was very rude. This is a dangerous health situation. Find another place to get your nails done folks. read more

This has to be the worst nail salon I've ever experienced. On the phone, the guy made an appointment for me at 2PM. I came at 2, and he didn't have me on his books. Then he gave me to someone who was available. She filed part of my shellac nail polish off, then I was told that because I had a gel base, they couldn't work with me further. Loved this place when it first opened. Was disappointed last month when my manicure peeled the next day but thought I'd try again today. Worst pedicure ever. They started started 10 minutes late which is fine since you can sit in the massage chair. When he started it was a total rush job, didn't file more then once, the stone massage was up and down literally 3 times. When I asked why so quick the owner said more people are coming. I cancelled the manicure, the ' luxury' pedicure was 17 minutes for $30. Awful, don't waste your $. Oh when I told the owner it was disappointing and it was a rush. He said oh that's too bad, it's still $30. I wasn't asking for a refund but hopefully an apology or some effort of customer service. Nope. will not return. read more

Had a manicure on a Tuesday and by Thursday the polish was chipping off. Went in and was told that I use my hands too much and that was why it was chipping. Further that polish usually lasts only a couple of days. Not a regular manicure patron, but seems unreasonable that fingernail polish lasts for only a couple of days. read more
