When you enter the hotel it is quite strange as you expect reception to be there - it's not. You have to go up in the lift to get to the reception. Once inside it's very obvious as to the newness of the building as it's all very modern. The reception is situated in the breakfast area which is a little strange but the check in staff are very helpful. There is also 2 computers in this area for guest use which is a nice touch. The rooms follow the theme of the rest of the hotel - very modern. There was a flat screen TV mounted onto a wood panel. Everything in the room was very clean. The only downside to the whole stay was that there was no bath - only a shower! Not much to grumble about!!

We needed a place to stay for one night & opted for this place after my brother-in-law checked it out for us. The place was recently remodeled & I will say even though this place is a Crowne Plaza the staff, décor & service seemed more of a higher rated hotel. Check-in was quick & even though the staff member was a bit long winded (but in a very pleasant & helpful way) we were up in our room in a few minutes. Our room was an executive king room on the top floor. Very big, very new, very pretty! Since we had this room, we were told the food & drinks in the mini-bar were free. So was the breakfast & cocktail hour in the executive lounge. We did use the lounge while there for drinks (nice assortment) & breakfast. The breakfast was wonderful. Plenty to choose from hot or cold dishes, plenty of juices, yogurt, fruit, etc. Hands down the best bed I slept on during my visit. The linens were lush & the pillows were "just right". Even the complimentary robes, slippers & bath products were well above average. Keeping this place on my list to stay the next time we are in Buckinghamshire.

While I certainly thought it was an OK hotel, I have to admit I wasn't particularly impressed with it. Nothing was exactly wrong with the hotel - it was clean, well maintained. The rooms and beds were as comfortable as they usually are to me (hotel beds tend to be a bit firmer than what I like). They have a business center, wi-fi, a gym, the usual amenities. Truthfully, I can't comment on them that much since my mother and I were really only here long enough to drop off stuff initially - and after that we went right to bed so that we could get to the airport early the next morning. My biggest problem with the hotel is ultimately their lack of information about some of the amenities they offer - particularly related to the shuttle service. When I stayed here, it was for one night prior to my flying back home to the US. Since we had stayed in the middle of London for the past week, and we didn't want to walk around the city with our suitcases all day, my mother and I brought our stuff here during the afternoon. We planned to use the shuttle buses to get to the hotel, and then to head back to the Tube via the bus so we could enjoy one last evening in London. And this is a hotel that boasts on its website, "The hotel is perfectly placed for day trips to London's museums, shops and galleries." So we figured our plan was solid. Little did we realize that the shuttle buses cost something like 5 pounds per person, and I believe per trip (though I think there was a slight discount for buying a round trip ticket). As far as I can remember there was absolutely no warning about this cost in advance when our hotel was booked via a travel agency. As of my writing this review I don't see any notice about this on their website, either. Another thing to keep in mind is that the shuttle isn't a shuttle associated with this specific hotel - it's a service that works with multiple hotels. The result is that any commute you're planning on making won't be a speedy one. You'll need to plan on riding in a loop between multiple hotels and the airport. And you'll want to give yourself plenty of time to ride in to the airport - last thing you want is to have to rush to your flight after a long shuttle ride and a slow day at security. Again, as a hotel, this place is just fine. The hotel itself did its job and gave me a decent place to sleep for a night. But they definitely need to look into offering more information in advance to guests who plan on using their shuttle service. Normally I wouldn't focus on the shuttle so much, especially since it's not operated by the hotel itself. But as a hotel that's offering itself as a convenient place to stay for tourists and travelers (in an area where said tourists and travelers are dependent on shuttles and public transit) any and all information related to the shuttle is an extremely important part of anyone's experience here. And guests deserve to know in advance what they're getting into - and, more importantly, NEED to know to ensure they have enough cash on hand for their commutes.

The air conditioner didnt keep up in our wing (it worked just fine in the other wings). There was literally no air circulation. The windows were sealed shut so they couldnt be opened. We were provided a cheap, but working oscillating desk fan. We werent moved rooms due to "unavailability". The last few days of our stay, the airconditioning came sort of online, which was better than no air circulation. The rooms are TINY. We reserved a double bed room. We were assigned a room with 1 full size bed and a pull out couch. Staff had to bring the bedding for the pullout. We had 3 adult sized people in this room. It wouldnt be a big deal if we werent charged full price for less than full accomodations. The bathroom was clean and okay. The tall people in my group suffered in the short shower, but I had no trouble...LOL. Free breakfast! That motivated my 3 star review. It was local food choices and cooked very well! The bar was fun too!

I would say most people were seated by around 3:10pm but at this time the prosecco bottles for the bottomless mimosas still hadn't arrived. My friend's friends had to start inquiring and bottles were finally placed on the table about 3:30. At this point, for those who had ordered, STILL hadn't gotten our appetizers. Waiters told us "it's coming, it's coming." At this point the restaurant wasn't even that crowded so I'm flabbergasted as to what the holdup was and can only attribute to incompetence. The staff also did.not.seem.to.understand the basic instructions on getting multiple carafes of water for our side of the table; rather they kept refilling the same carafe which obviously went quickly among six women on my side of the table!!! Rather we kept getting carafes of juice, which of course cost something. Cheeky eh? When our mains arrived, about 4:15pm or so there were also issues. My rosti was lukewarm and the woman across from me had a burnt burger bun and her burger was cold, as was the friend across from her. I saw a waiter take it away and make a scowling face in the back with his other colleagues (a tall,blond guy) which is outrageous considering YOUR kitchen is messing up! With the delayed start, one of the waiters had the audacity to try to stop the bottomless aspect right at 4:45 but thankfully some friends explained and the bottomless brunch continued. However, with all these delays, my friend lost her rooftop bar reservation slot. This is just another indicator of the rubbish (I would say much stronger words here if I could) "service" this establishment offers as my friend was penalized for the restaurant screwups. When it came to pay, a sweet but what I can only think of as an incompetent young woman (brunette, slim, ponytail and accent) gave my friend the bill, which was quite confusing. My friend gritted her teeth and explained she had given the restaurant a spreadsheet with everyone's costs broken down and could she please use that. The dim server seemed very confused. In the end, my friend somehow ended up paying £80 or so worth of service charge when she should have paid far less for the appalling service. South Hotel, shame on you. This is another reminder to me, as a US expat, how AWFUL service can be in this country and you get away with it. Manager should have come over to apologize profusely to us at some point and given significant discounts off the bill. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. It is clean and pet friendly. The rooms were quite large and so was the bathroom. There is a private bar in the 1st floor which can be reserved for smaller gatherings. There's also a bar and a restaurant in the ground floor. I ordered breakfast twice and the food was delicious. Checkin/checkout process was fast and straightforward, the staff is also nice and friendly. It's very close to the train station and about 10-15min walking distance from St Pauls Cathedral. I totally loved this place, would definitely recommend staying here.

Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Chinatown, Mayfair, Covent Garden... it's all a walk away! In fact, Leicester Square is right in front, Trafalgar Square is right behind, and the West End is all around. I will say that room service may be a bit slow and inconvenient, especially at night. We have had to wait at least 30 minutes to receive toiletries on both stays. Aside from that, my boyfriend and I enjoyed our stays here and we look forward to more hopefully! Note: Delta Stays brought us here! The pictures on this review are from our first stay in May 2023. We came back just before Christmas 2023, and it was a similar experience. :)
