Just came from a 8-night stay at the SoHo Hotel and I'd give it 6 stars if I could. It's going on my personal top hotels I have ever stayed at list. Plainly speaking they are just really nice here. All of the staff, all of the extras, all of the features. In a hard world of late, it's just plain nice to come to a place where everyone is so pleasant, smiling and accomodating! From the nice greeting upon check-in, the handwritten note in our room, to the surprise holiday gifts, to the staff always asking if you need help...it's just nice. From the doorman, to the conceirge, the restaurant staff, the ladies who service the rooms....Everyone was offered top notch service with smiles. No complaints on our end at all. We stayed with our Chase Sapphire points and received free breakfast with our stay. The food at the restaurant was really excellent. We ate it 5 out of the 8 days. On days we were rushing we got room service and the food was warm and fresh and came exactly at the time we ordered for. Our room was just lovely, quite too, we never heard neighbors....while the hotel isn't located on a street to have many views they gave us a nice one and we liked looking out the big window. Our room was big with a pull out couch, two tables and chairs and a TV...and had the best bathroom!!! On my last night, I took a bubble bath and watched a movie on the TV that was in the bathroom! I should have jumped in that tub earlier in my stay! Heaven! It was nice to soak after a long week of walking. Also worth mentioning the water pressure in the shower was amazing!!! Plenty of towels and robes and slippers. Lovely soaps and scents too. Every night we would come back to our room with the beds turned down and water bottles next to our bed replentished. The bed and all of the pillows and linens were extremely comfortable. For once, the thermostat at a hotel worked. And we turned it up and down...a lot! A lot of places don't have mini bars these days but theirs was stocked really well and with interesting treats. Even thought I didn't spend a lot of time in them they had a sitting and drawing room and a honesty cabinet with treats. They even mailed postcards for me and saved me the trouble of having to find stamps. It was really hard to leave! I really enjoyed my stay and they made my Christmas trip memorable! We came back on Christmas Eve and they left us another nice hand written note with a gift and a stocking from Santa filled with yum candy! Thanks to all the staff. I love this hotel. It's not directly on any busy street so you don't get the street noise. We stayed in a Luxury and Superior room on two separate days so I got to compare what those meant. Both were about the same size, but the luxury room had a bathtub with a tv built into the wall, while the superior room had just a shower. Each room had two comfortable arm chairs and a table, and a tv mounted on the wall. Because it's so comfy and I was curious, if you want to buy the chair, it's $6000 and you can buy it off Kit Kemp's website. There's a bluetooth speaker for connecting to your phone. Wifi is free. At night, you will come back to your room and magically, two bottles of water and a cup next to your bed will appear with water in it. There's no iron in the room but you can ask for one. Okay now for the thing I am fascinated with. The walls seem to have soundproof paneling. They're these cushy foamy paneled walls, with colorful wallpaper on them. We were in a corner unit for the Luxury room, and heard absolutely nothing. Not even from the bathroom. For the superior room, there was some noise, but it came from the front door and being between two other rooms. Was there no noise due to the location of the rooms? Is it the walls? All I know is it was worth mentioning because I've never encountered this before. SERVICE: EVERYONE IS SO NICE AND ATTENTIVE. On the way out, it was raining and the front door people offered to walk us with an umbrella to the station (Tottenham is a short 5 minute walk and on the Elizabeth line so it goes to Heathrow) or let us keep the umbrella. We opted not to and just brave the rain (which might have been a mistake... 24 hours later my sweater is still damp) but it was so incredibly nice. The room staff are also incredibly nice. Just know if you don't want to be bothered, make sure you put the "do not disturb" placard on the door or they will check on you. There's this cool honesty bar in the lobby behind a key fobbed door. You can pour or make your own drinks at any time of day and put down your room number and they charge you later. My partner raved about this hotel for so long that I now understand the fandom. If you have the money to burn, stay here. 5/5 stars. read more

I just love this hotel - and frankly any of the Firmdale properties. I wish they had a rewards program as that's the only hold back however here (as with the others throughout London), you'll find the absolute in comfort. The rooms are soundproofed, cozy and comfortable. I love returning to my room as it's just so welcoming from the overly plushy couch and bed to the pristine marbled bathroom. The staff are clearly here to please and the food and beverage has always been outstanding. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this property as I always have an excellent stay. read more

A bit pricey, though what you'd expect with such a great location. The hotel is well designed, but not over the top or trying too hard. My room was generously sized, quiet, and very comfortable with lots of natural light. Service was generally good, though I had a couple vendor snafus. I sent off some pants which were ruined at their dry cleaner, fortunately I had the receipt for the pants and the hotel reimbursed me fully without a fight. Also on checkout I had booked a car through the hotel but it didn't show up. The concierge kept saying 5 minutes, but after 15 minutes I opted for cab instead. Even with those two misfires I'd still stay here again. read more

While the prices are comprable to The Dorchester & 41, The service is not. In my opinion this is not a 5 star hotel and it is a tad bit overpriced ($500 a night). Sure the staff are nice and check in and check out easy, but for the price this place looks like it was decorated by IKEA! It is supposed to be hip and trendy but to me it looked cheap and tacky. The breakfast was okay nothing memorable. The rooms are bit small for the price you are paying. If you have the money and this is your kinda place, hit it up... for me not so much. read more

An A-OK affordable afternoon tea in central London. I'm marking it up to four stars for the beautiful setting and slightly confusing quirky decor. Tartan chairs, arty lamps and a bookshelf of old paint cans? Not sure what it was trying to be but either way I liked it! The servers deal well with large groups and dietary reqs, and we were a party of 11 for a friend's hen do. For £25.50 we got a full afternoon tea with a bellini (sans bellini was £22.50 and a champers upgrade was £30). As you'd expect for such decent tea prices for central London, you don't get free refills as you might do elsewhere. There's more than enough food to keep you going though. I surprised myself by really enjoying the savoury layer when I'm usually all about the sugar. The sandwiches of salmon and coronation chicken were well-made, and teamed with a ham and piccalilli slider and mini leek and gruyere quiche. This is where I would've asked for refills! The scones were tasty, if a little overbaked, and we definitely had to ask for extra clotted cream. The cakes were all fine though none really stood out for me. Not the highest quality food i've had at tea then but you get what you pay for - it does the job and in a lovely setting. Feels like a tea better suited for groups as we were given the lively dining room, rather than a particularly intimate or indulgent one. read more

Came here for breakfast on numerous occasions during my stay in London and was very pleased with the service, ambiance, and of course, the food! The Soho Hotel is a trendy place which is a favourite meeting point among the media folk in central London. I met up with a colleague in the main bar and had a quick peek around the hotel (well you have to!) as was a little early. It really is a funky establishment - it has a number of function rooms and screening rooms and the bar is lovely. It is simple in decor as opposed to fancy - lots of earthy neutral browns but this makes it a lovely place to go and relax. I ordered a herbal tea which for £2.95 was on the pricey side but it was a proper mint tea as opposed to just a tea bag. The bar itself is huge with a specially commissioned mural by Alexander Hollweg and they have a great range of wines and cocktails, all served up by friendly, bubbly staff. A cool place to meet for a drink but it will be rather on the expensive side so best to stay for 'just one' before going out! read more

Like most of the other reviewers I haven't actually stayed at the Soho Hotel. Having only visited it during the daytime so far I can't comment on the bar either. I absolutely love the way it is done up - they did an amazing job on a really difficult (and mainly dark) building. I was given a gift voucher for the spa a few years ago and enjoyed the best massage I have ever had. The location in the basement isn't all that great, but you forget all about it once you are in one of the treatment rooms being pampered. Basing this review on the two occasions that I've used the screening room. First off, the seats are very comfortable and the sound system is good. Because of the size of the screen compared to the number of seats, there probably isn't a terrible seat in the house. My only complaint is that there isn't anywhere to put a drink and both times I've been there someone has had to rush in to clean up a wine glass that has been kicked over. So, I took the wifey on our first trip to London and Paris. This review is coming from a dude who doesn't mind the smokey motel 6 for 39 bucks a night. Hey, I like keepin it real. But, ever since I married jet-setting, frequent flier mile gatherin, travel savvy wifey, I can look at hotels from her perspective. Our first stop was the Soho Hotel. Our taxi drove us through a neighborhood full of theatres and bars which were bustling despite the post Robert Green fiasco. We took a left into a alley lined with brick office buildings. At the end of the alley, we saw a crowd of teenie-boppers hovering over one of the actors from "Glee". "Whoah" I said to myself, "how much is the bill going to be?" I looked over to my wife and smiled lovingly. "This place is going to be nice." I said to her. We were brought to our room which was nicely decorated. My wife had a thing for the guy in the suit, and told me to tip him. Ok, I know it was actually for his help with our luggage, but part of me knew that it was because he was attractive. Anyhoo, the bed was super comfy, the room service food was reasonable (as room service prices go- 22 pounds for an entree isn't too bad), and the bathroom was pretty large. The concierge was awesome. It was in the detail and extra helpful information that we appreciated. We wanted to try the "local fare" and were directed to a fish n chips place which was excellent- they also recommended that we not eat fish n chips on a Monday because the fish wouldn't be fresh. Upon asking them directions to the British Museum they even highlighted the items to look for ("aside from the Rosetta Stone, look for the oldest chess set, etc, etc") Ok, so I have to say, it was a wonderful experience in London- especially because of this hotel. I really love this hotel, and I stay here every time I'm in town! I like the location and the bar in the lobby is great. The Martini's here are to die for and the glasses are huge. I found myself tipsy only after one drink too... Maybe the bartender was being nice by making my drinks extra strong. The beds here are so comfortable that it's hard for me to get up in the morning. My friends literally have to drag me out and throw me in the shower to get up. I never have a problem when I'm here and everyone is very friendly and the little ladies that do the turndown service are always so cute and nice. I love this hotel, I would live here if I could... I LOVED our stay here. It was beautifully comfortable, classic but updated English style, with great attention to detail. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful....they even gave me tape and a huge roll of bubble wrap to pack some art we had bought. I usually prefer modern and minimal decor, but this was delightful....even loved all the pink. And, as someone who worked for IKEA for 15 years...trust me, this place DOES NOT even remotely resemble IKEA, as stated by Sheila P.....one of the reviewers here. Utter nonsense. We had breakfast here, and it was delish, and even dinner one night, when we were too tired to walk anywhere, and that was great too. Wow! This place is amazing! The location is great with near proximity to Piccadilly Circus & walkable to many other places including Kensington Palace. The rooms are big, spotlessly clean & beautifully appointed. Upon check in they gave us a voucher for complimentary cocktails which might not seem like a big deal but the prices in London will knock your socks off so it was much appreciated:) When we got back to our room after our outing we were greeted with a handwritten thank you note & a gift of a wonderfully good smelling candle by RikRak. They carry all there products there & they sell them downstairs so leave room in your luggage to bring some home with you! If you arrive "home" late, they have a library with a fully stocked honor bar (in case your not done but it's too late to get served) & they will bring you some late night snacks there as well so you can go to bed with a full tummy:). We are going back to London & can't wait to stay at The SoHo again! read more

Just off Dean Street in Soho, this hotel provides welcome respite to the hustle and bustle of the more accessible bars in the area. The cocktail bar is pretty stunning, with lots of leather seats, candles and plant pots. It's a great place to meet with a group if you get there early enough you can grab a table. Behind the pewter bar there is a very good range of spirits and unusual cocktails and the wine list is massive, it was difficult to choose. Yes it's luxurious, but my heart almost stopped when I got the bill for my round: glasses of wine are £7.50 and cocktails £12! read more

When you're paying an eye watering £100 a head for a fancy meal you don't expect: a. for the place to be so understaffed that you need to keep beckoning a waiter to remind them of your drinks order b. for the chateubriand for two to be dry and average c. there isn't a 'c' but it was £100!!! - and I've had a lot better I think there are so many better restaurants that are much more reasonably priced in soho which is why they get 2 stars. it just wasn't amazing enough. i've been to gastro pubs where the food was better and less than half the price. the waiters weren't attentive enough either. it just wasn't special and i will not be going back (except to visit the bar where the cocktails are pretty amazing). read more

This one focuses more on its pastries and deserts then it's sandwiches I would say but it was lovely. I had a nice early grey tea and I must say the scones where AMAZING and fresh like they'd just come out the oven from a bake. I also like that they give you one each of raisin and non raisin. They were very yummy, Light and fluffy! What was really nice was there was a little mix up with out booking so they catered for us and gave us a little special treat sh oh was very nice of them. The decor is nice, modern and I quite like that it's off the beaten track of soho. If you're around the soho area, want afternoon tea in a chilled relaxed casual vibe and also decent price! I love this hotel but the rates are so high and I only stay here if I can find special rates. The rooms are spacious, modern and welcoming. The bed is super comfortable and the shower/bath combination is excellent. There is also a flat screen TV and DVD player. Room service is great. The food is fantastic. And the bar is also very funky with great cocktails and wine. I've also had breakfast in the restaurant, which was wonderful. The location is great but cabs have a tough time finding it if they are not familiar with it. read more

I can only review the bar in this place as I'm not a millionaire and can't see myself staying at the hotel any time soon. But the bar is dark. Really annoyingly dark. And while the cocktails are great, they're as expensive as you'd expect from a swanky hotel in this area and I'm not sure it's worth it. Wow what a beautiful hotel. The last time I was here was for another event so it was nice to return for this Blurb/Girl Geek Dinners/Silicon Stilletos event. The bar is super swanky, the theatre downstairs is so very funky with a tray for drinks on eadh arm and cowhide covered chairs and couches and the best food I've had for awhile. I've never stayed here and given the paps outside I doubt you'd get a decent night's sleep but WOW is this place cool! read more

I spent a few hours here last week trying to pretend I belonged in such a calm, luxurious haven away from the world and didn't do too bad a job of it. Reclining against supremely comfy cushions in the drawing room I awaited my colleague, passing the time by reading my Graham Swift novel and avoiding eye contact with the waiting staff who probably wanted me to start buying drinks. No-one hassled me though, and I was there for at least 20 minutes! We moved to another side room for the meeting and were served delicious nibbly snacks and glasses of tasty rose as a precursor to ordering lunch from the Refuel menu, which we were allowed to enjoy away from the bustle and noise of the restaurant itself. I'd done my research beforehand and gleefully availed myself of the separate vegan menu, to the great interest of my fellow diners who decided they were also going to order from it! Converts! Unfortunately, vegan as the dish was, you can't really call what was essentially some warm greens and mushrooms in hot water a meal, and you probably shouldn't be charging £13.50 for it either. Vegan food shouldn't be given a bad name by sad dishes like this, tasty though it was - we eat carbs too you know! Refuel needs to have a rethink Two stars removed for the high price of everything (thankfully I wasn't paying) and for the fact that I had to eat again as soon as I got home. read more

The best hotel I've stayed at in central London. The service was excellent, friendly, helpful, but professional. The room was great - I think they mentioned an upgrade? Might have to go back and check out one of the suites. My only regret is not spending more time in the drawing room and digging into the honesty bar - looked like a very pleasant place to have a quiet drink away from the bustle of the refuel bar. The only downside is I've now experienced going out in Soho by foot - a very good way to make the most of your evening. Staying in hotels in zone 2 simply wont cut it any longer. Book with care. I have been lucky enough to stay here and even more luckily was upgraded to a suite. The room(s) was great, as you would expect and imagine. Large, airy, and trendy without going in for the dark gloomy style that mars so many boutique hotels. I am not sure what the beautifully fashioned tailors dummy in the corner added precisely, but the overall effect was of easy modern luxury. Service standard was also high. Highly recommended for a very central London hotel. read more

Very stylish hotel with contemporary decor in Soho; great place to meet for a business meeting if you need somewhere nice in the area. Cafe/lounge is pleasant, the meeting rooms are lovely. It has good drinks, especially cocktails, but it's rather small and the table layout doesn't lend itself well to gatherings of more than a handful of people. If you're going with a large group of more than ten people you really need to splash out and hire a private room. read more

Firstly, i'm jealous of the other reviewers who have been lucky enough to stay here - sounds great! My review is just for the afternoon tea. I think there were about 8 of us in our group and (even though it wasn't requested) they gave us use of the private dining room - result! We had champagne tea was very reasonably priced around £30. The didn't scrimp of the champagne , a nice big glass and also they got some green tea for me even though it wasn't one of the teas on the menu. They didn't even raise an eyebrow when we asked for more sandwiches and strawberries, nor did they mind that we stayed for about 5 hours! Service was great, food was scrummy (muffins, great sandwiches such as roast beef and horseradish and both fruit and savoury scones). We loved this hotel, the only bit we didn't like was checking out to come home. Certainly not a cheap nights accommodation, but wow, everything was amazing, we landed an upgrade to one of the superior rooms. The size of the room was impressive, even with a large walk in wardrobe. Quite frankly i was loathe to leave the room, the furnishings were plush, the bathroom with twin sinks, a huge tub and spacious shower was great. The bed was massive and gave a good nights sleep. The room itself was exceptionally clean, but i guess thats what you get at this price. Everything you could ever need was in the room, they evened catered for the wet climate with an umbrella matching the colour of the room. The mini bar was reasonably priced in comparison to some of the hotels we've stayed in but in no way cheap. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was a little too rich for us price wise, but seemed very popular and busy. read more

I love the bar at The Soho Hotel, the extensive cocktail and wine list is a bit mind-boggling, but so are the prices. I tend to come here for a cocktail before going out for dinner, but did spend a long evening at Xmas drinks recently, which for 4 of us cost £560. Admittedly, we were here for a while and the bill consisted of some wine, cocktails and champagne - oh and we spent £40 on tapas (which was very good), I think it was 5 tapas for £20, or you can buy them individually. It gets really crowded in the bar area, when all the seats are taken you can barely walk get through, which might be why the drinks are a little slow arriving at times. I came here for a very fun Afternoon Tea with the girls to celebrate a dear friends hen do The Soho Hotel has managed to tuck itself away within the absolute heart of W1 I later learned you can gain access two ways, the quickest from my home was to run across Oxford Street, down Wardour past an old familiar pub that I must have walked past a million times in the last 23 years with my head in the clouds as I was completely unaware of the small Mews that runs to the side of it which you must enter to gain access to this building!It felt a bit like entering Narnia or Diagon Alley as once you step past the pub all the chaos and hustle bustle of hectic Soho seems to magically disappear and the dirt and grime of the weather worn streets suddenly turns into a modern, clean, contemporary utopia that leads to a large glass front. The door was opened for me and led directly into the restaurants well-oiled front of house desk who directed me to where I needed to be. As I walked through past the bar and restaurant it struck me as a cheery, chattering, light and relaxed room to be lunching or drinking inThe room we were to use ran adjacent to the entrance. All the ground floor seems to have floor to ceiling windows that let light stream in making even the dullest day seem sunnier. It was a select gaggle of girls some of us new to each other others old friends of almost 20 years.We caught up on gossip and news while reclining on large, deep, comfortable sofas in a spacious, colourful drawing room set up that had a wonderful mix of the traditional, modern and somewhat bizarre with glass domed cake stands displaying knitted cupcakes that looked good enough to eat, a painting that I liked very much and a life-size pagan looking bronze of a very curvy woman.As it was a hen do we decided cocktails should be brought immediately. Throughout the afternoon we were served by two very fun, rather hot waiters who bent over backwards to make everything go well and very sportingly put up with our teasing and tipsy demands . I ordered a favourite of mine a Dirty Martini that arrived quickly and in a reassuringly weighty cocktail glass (I hate those cheap rice paper thin ones that don't seem to balance properly well when held by the stem) It was mixed very well indeed.As some in the group were wheat intolerant (and I was staying away from bread that day) we had a choice of regular or wheat free afternoon tea (you had to pre-book the wheat free so don't just turn up expecting to be able to get it)As expected you had a great choice of teas I opted for my favourite Earl Grey but others chose less obvious and more exciting names one of which I had never heard of before!Then tea arrived Wow what an absolute feast!! There were savouries goodies including prawns wrapped in lettuce leaves, a selection of sandwiches which were surprisingly good for wheat frees (not as dry as usual) and the cakes and jellies and what free scones with outrageous amounts of double cream and jam plus many more temptations were amazing. read more

We stayed at The Soho Hotel for our wedding weekend in December 2010. It is hands-down the best hotel we have stayed at - and I include in that comparison some rather more expensive hotel at which we stayed during our honeymoon. Everything at The Soho Hotel was just 'right'. It is effortlessly stylish, manages to remain personal despite having nearly 100 rooms (I think), and has some great public spaces (such as the Refuel bar, and the Drawing Room). It's also fantastically located for the hustle and bustle of Soho, but still manages to feel 'tucked away'. However, it's the service that really sets The Soho Hotel apart. Every single member of staff that we dealt with was professional, polite and personable; and almost all of them knew we had just got married (from reception through to room service) - which was a lovely touch. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - and I suspect it will become the benchmark by which we judge all future hotel stays! read more
