I had a business lunch today, and she suggested Red Lobster. I must admit that I have not been to a Red Lobster in years, so I was not excited about her choice. Apparently, they have changed the look of their restaurants. I arrived before my person. I was immediately served with menus and asked for my drink order. The server brought drinks and their famous "biscuits". I don't eat much better, so I did not indulge and neither did my guest, so I can not tell you how they tasted, but they had a pleasant aroma. We ordered from the lunch menu, I like that when they offered "lighter" versions that out the calorie count next to the item. Nice touch.. I had the garlic shrimp scampi with the wild rice. It was the perfect size, I felt full when I finished and felt like I got my money's worth. My guest had the maple glazed chicken with rice and broccoli. We both enjoyed our lunches without feeling guilty about our choices. I would do this again for lunch. read more

I hate to write this review but it has to be done We went out for my birthday. Usually we don't go to Alton, we go to Fairview Heights, but we had some place to stop at in Alton. The biscuits took a long time to come out but that wasn't the real issue. Three of us got our meals, the fourth didn't. My husband's meal didn't come until we were almost done with our meal. This was after asking several times. Also, there was no butter brought out. Finally the entree arrived, the manager brought it saying we recooked it, they thought it was cold. Well yeah, after you let it set that long. It was still cold and the lobster tails were not fully cooked. My husband got sick from his food. That's not good. The waitress was pretty much absent through it all. After she brought the bill, I told her our night was pretty much ruined. I told her after waiting so long for his meal, I didn't feel like we should pay for it. She got the manager and she did give us some compensation. I still would be leery coming here because of the underdone seafood. read more

Don't trust their website any type of waitlist is not allowed right now so after waiting 30 minutes given to us by the waitlist we were told we're back at the bottom of the list again. read more

Contrary to what others have reported, this location is NOT closed. At least it wasn't as of July 31, 2014. My review is actually mixed. I was taken there for my 50th birthday and the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and clean, just like I was expecting. I ordered a trio platter that included Scallops, Shrimp, and Lobster. The flavors for everything we absolutely perfect for me. Everything was seasoned amazingly well and perfectly balanced. I was extremely impressed with the scallops. They were perfectly cooked, and as anyone who watches Hell's Kitchen can tell you, it's not easy to cook them perfectly. Now for what keeps me from giving this a four or five star review: Even though the flavors were great on the shrimp and lobster, they were both extremely overcooked. The shrimp were chewy and the lobster was so rubbery that I had a hard time pulling the meat apart. I joked that if I would to drop it on the floor, it would bounce a good three feet. For dessert I chose the Strawberry Cheesecake. THAT was amazing. We decided that we will likely stop by there on a frequent bases, just to get that cheesecake. It was that good. read more

My neighbor and I along with his mother and aunt stopped in for dinner on 4/12/18 around 5:40 PM. The crowd was considerably light compared to normal with about 20 tables of guests seated. Our drink order was promptly taken and brought out quickly. From there, the rest of the meal was downhill. After our mediocre cocktails were served, our waitress took the orders and disappeared for 15+ minutes. We sat without cheddar biscuits and water before my neighbor finally got up to ask the manager if she had left. He was nonchalantly acknowledged, as the manager was more concerned about flirting with the two hostesses. Another 5-7 minutes passed before she returned to the table, again without biscuits or water (which was never refilled once). Our salads arrived shortly thereafter and a refill of biscuits had to be requested. Then came our meals in patchwork quilt style. My neighbor got his White Wine and Roasted Garlic Mussels served by another waitress first. He ordered it with a side of shrimp scampi, but coconut shrimp were brought out instead. The shrimp scampi arrived later on and was so salty, it was ruined. The other three meals were served by yet another waitress. His mother's Dueling Lobster Tails came with an unknown side dish that was taken away then brought back out. It ended up being the scallops with roasted bell peppers in sherry lobster cream sauce that was supposed to be served on top of her lobster tail, not as a side. No one had a clue what it was. His Aunt's Rock Lobster and Steak was ordered medium and served well done. My pick two combo with wood-grilled tilapia and shrimp alfredo was less than satisfying. The tilapia was overcooked and crispy on the edges and the alfredo was yesterday's thick leftovers at best. All I can say is what a major letdown for $33. Captain D's to-go and a cocktail at home would have been a far superior meal than the crap I was served. Overall, all four of us were disappointed. Never again ! read more

We went in this afternoon late at 4 pm or so. Not much going on at the time. We came in to get our favorite meal, Surf and Turf. Sat at the bar and Tiffany took care of us. We are particular about our margaritas. We like them on the rocks with salt. Too many times we get our margarita with too much mix washing off all the salt. So, we are trying to ask for our drink with less mix and salt all around. Tonight we mentioned this to Tiffany and she made our drinks. Perfectly! Thanks Tiff! Our food was perfect too. Went to Red Lobster tonight to take my mom out for Mother's Day with my sisters and their spouses ... I should know better. This is my third time to Red Lobster. The Lobster was tough and I swear there was supposed to be shrimp in the batter (at least that is what they advertised!) and if the waitress hadn't helped the manager wouldn't have helped out. I ordered the lunch special today which consisted of 12 fried shrimp, 2 sides, and a drink (soda or tea). Upon being seated, our server asked about drinks. I ordered a water with no lemon. After she brought my drink, she let us know about the lunch specials. So, I ordered the special of the day (as stated above). She did not ask me which drink I wanted with the special (as it came with a soda or tea), so when she later walked by, I asked her if I could have a sweet tea. After lunch was over, the server presented my bill, and lo and behold, she charged me for the tea - almost $3! She explained that because I ordered AFTER I put in my lunch special order, she charged me for it. She repeated 3 times why she charged me for it, and I told her I wasn't paying for it! She finally took off the charge and acted like she did me a favor! Also, the fried shrimp I got at Culver's a few days before was 100 x better! I'm done with Red Lobster! read more

For Alton, this place is decent. Waiters and waitresses could use a communications training class and see why their customers treatment can effect their tip amount. The food is normal Red Lobster food, and not really anything to write home about. This restaurant is unfortunately all Alton has going for them anymore. I hope they can improve their staffing and give this location a fighting chance. read more

Stopped here on our way home from Antiquing in the surrounding area. We were seated immediately, our drinks were promptly taken, the waitress couldn't have been more kind and helpful with the choice of Lobster, and other items on the menu. She and the other waitresses were wonderful at keeping our drinks refilled, and the food was cooked to perfection. Definitely eat here again. read more

My husband and I were really craving seafood so we decide to go to Red Lobster. Big Mistake! First the cheddar bay biscuits weren't all the way done and that's the one thing I look forward to the most. Then I got my dinner of shrimp and crab which turned out to be cold, way to much butter, and garlic. My husband ordered shrimp also and had the same problem. Neither one of us like to complain and we were ready to get out of their so I didn't say anything, but I did do a survey on their website telling them what I thought. The only thing good about our experience is the waitress who was very polite and friendly, but I will never got back. I recommend for anyone else not to spend their money there. read more

For chain restaurant they have very good food. We go there a lot and usually the food is pretty good. I used to order their seafood gumbo but is has been removed from the menu. Of course the cheddar bay biscuits are very good. I like to order oysters but the other patrons act like you're eating goat's eyes while you're eating them. I think some of the broiled platters are a little over done on occasion. However, it is what it is at a chain restaurant. The service is always good and wait times are generally reasonable. I've never tried their lobster, as with oysters, other patrons act like they've never seen such a thing. It's just our demographics. My brother and niece met me for dinner Sunday 5/1/15 and we each had the trio selection so with the three of us we got to taste all the choices. Every thing was absolutely DELICIOUS. The best part of our night was our waitress Megan...she was fantastic, friendly and we had a good interaction with her. It felt like a friend or family member taking care of us. I make greeting cards and showed two of them to her and told her to pick out and take the one she liked. The look on her face was stunning and her smile put a good end to our dinner . This is a great restaurant are watier was nice polite she served the apittizers at the right time. The food was great my sea food feast was fantastic and the endless shrimp was a dellite. My wife and I have been doing this RL for 27 years and have always like the place. my wife loves the crab legs and has tried other places but always ask for RL on birthday and our anniversary. I try new items each visit. We always get good service and love the bread. The last visit was made very special by the service from Byron. He has to be best waiter ever had at an RL.
