Stopped at the red lobster in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on our way back home from Tennessee. Our server was fantastic, but that's where the good part stopped. We hadn't been to a red lobster in several years and I have learned to accept the fact that places changed their menu from time to time, but I have been going to red lobster since the 1970s. Their menu has changed over the years, but in general, you could get the same things that you always could get before. When we got to this restaurant, we realize the menu was for a different restaurant entirely only a couple of items listed or even remotely familiar to us. We almost left, but at that point we had already sat down and were relaxing, so we found what we could on the menu that suited our mood and ordered the food. The food took forever to come out from the kitchen, not counting my salad which our server gave to me for free because of our wait. One of the items I had ordered was grilled shrimp on a skewer. It is supposed to be on a bed of rice. The bed of rice consisted of about two forks of rice. The grilled shrimp was OK but not great. The food in general was nothing special certainly not worth the money we paid to go there. Here's the saddest part. Man has this chain fell off! Normal apps of stuffed mushrooms were very poorly executed. This used to be our favorite. Chili glazed shrimp app was a joke. Low grade frozen shrimp taste that were not fried fresh and they come with a drizzle of chili sauce for $16 bucks I believe. Highly disappointing. Cajun shrimp pasta was a flavorless mess and the wife's scampi was the only decent bite we had. Crab legs were skinny and soft and it was overall a huge disappointment. I went to red lobster for the first time in about 10 years the other night for a co-workers retirement dinner. Overall it was a decent experience. The restaurant only had a few tables with people and I could only see one server working which could explain the reason why it took a long time to get our food. Our server was very sweet but did forget things and had to be reminded multiple times. Again, it looked like she was the only one working which if that's the case then they need to hire more reliable workers because she should not of been alone for dinner rush. It had been forever since I had been to red lobster and I wanted it so bad. My review has nothing to do with price. I know it's not cheap. That's why it was for a special occasion. My 1st year anniversary with my fiancé. It took forever for a server to come out. Then we waited an extremely long time for our food to come out. When it did it was Luke warm. Not hot. Like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. I asked for more biscuits because the food was taking so long. I remember when they would bring you out another basket. We got two. That's it. Asked for more biscuits and got one for him. One for me. Wow After we were done with our meal we waited and waited and waited. Couldn't find our waitress. Several GROUPS of people that had been waiting to be seated behind us were already leaving. Apparently they got their food on time. 2 hours in and we can't even get a check. I finally got up and went to the front to ask the hostess if we could please pay. She said let me find your waitress. Had to wait another ten minutes for her to locate her. I was so aggravated when I left. I so wanted a special dinner for a special occasion and I got poor food and service. For a very healthy price. Had the all you can eat shrimp for $25 and it was worth it and more! The waitress, Chelsea S was the best so if you go in ask to be seated in her section and she will take good care of you. I don't often do reviews but when someone is exceptional, I like to let the company know. We had great food and the service was good, but the hostess was exceptional! My granddaughter commented on how good she smelled when she seated us and that sweet girl came back to our table 30 minutes later and brought the fragrance for me and my granddaughter to try! She was such an upbeat friendly lady. It's not often you meet exceptional people, but she had a great personality! She is definitely an asset to your restaurant. I wish I would have asked her name. Its been at least six months since my last horrible experience at red lobster so i thought i would give it another try. The crab fest pulled me in. Showed up today at approx 3pm and was told there would be a 20 min wait. No one was in waiting area and it did not look busy. I asked and she said it was shift change and we would have to wait. I asked if we could at least sit at a table. Nope. So lack of managing shift change and taking everyone off the floor at the save time started stacking up potential customers. We left and watched four more potential customers walk out after us. Guess they are doing so good at the cape red lobster that they don't need the extra six customers i personnaly see walk away. Not a fan of chains, but the service here makes me a fan. The seafood is mostly over battered & fried or soaked in butter, but they also have some well cooked grilled (shrimp, scallops etc) & steamed offerings (crab legs etc). The seasonings is light (except salt). The free biscuits are greasy addictive. Why 4 stars? The combination of corporate training & small town effort gives some surprising results. I have been here a few times with family from 6-14 person groups. The staff has always been great dealing with kids, teenagers to adults. The want for more biscuits are met with smiles. The staff, I have observed, works more as a team than many restaurants (example - filling other servers glasses when they have a pitcher). I have seen kids entertained by workers pulling lobster from the tank to show them. I have only visited this restaurant on Saturdays, but the wait to be seated is extremely long- between 30 and 60 minutes. Now the tip all yelpers should know - when order when there is a wait to be seated- order something that is "all you can eat" so the staff will bring refills faster. I ordered my food at 7:30 an hour before they close since the hours have changed. Whenever I arrived at 8:10 to pick up my food the doors were locked and closed. So they refused to serve me because they said they are not allowed to bring food out to the pick up parking spots. Which really defeats the purpose. This was my son's last dinner before going to basic training. We ordered crab legs. They come out and then the waitress says, "We're our of butter." Seriously!?! $22 dollar meals, a main component of crab legs is butter...and they don't say anything UNTIL they bring them out? We're told they'll be working on more butter. All I can say is, Do NOT go, save your money! Until they get more help and change their attitude, it is not worth it. We went around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, so it was not crowded. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait, which was doable. After 1 hour we asked if it would be quicker to get our food to go. We were told yes, it would be around 15 minutes. It ended up being a total of 1 hour 45 minutes! When we took our food back to our hotel to eat, we were missing 2 meals! We were to receive 4 adult meals and 2 children. The meals we did receive were cold and not worth the money. We paid $160 with no drinks! My son-in-law went back to Red Lobster to inform them of what we did no receive. They were rude and would only take off $15. My grandson's chicken nuggets were $15 and when we asked them why he only received 2 instead of 4 He was told the others were still frozen. I despise chain restaurants but was dragged here since we couldn't find anything better by our hotel. It was a nice, clean, typically Red Lobster. I ordered the Pacific King Crab Legs which were good. Nothing spectacular. However, I received some of the best service here ever. Just had lunch here. First off, yes I know the food is frozen, but it was prepared really well! I had fried fish and shrimp scampi. It was good! I have mixed feelings about this review. First of all, the service was above and beyond. They forgot a small part of our very large order, and compensated us for it. They even took back a drink one of us regretted ordering, because it wasn't what she thought it would be. That said, the food made me exceptionally sick, and I don't think it tasted particularly good - especially taking the price into consideration. I don't know WHY I ordered seafood in a landlocked state. Lobsters aren't commonly found in the river that runs past Cape to my knowledge, so it's fair to assume their food isn't fresh. I don't know what I expected. There are local fish restaurants in Cape, and I've tried them - they are good. Go there instead. read more

Things were OK until we finished our meal. Waitress brought our check to the table. I told her we would like desert. She grabbed the check back. Gave her the order. Later she came back with water. I asked her if she could take our plates away. She took one. There were three of us. She came back with some coffee. STILL did not take the plates off the table. I moved the plates off the table. Finally she came back and picked them up. Later brought the desert. When she was finished she slammed the rack she puts the tray on against the back of my seat. I looked for the manager. She ran in the ladies room. (I think the server told the manager over the radio I was waiting for her). We finished at 8:20 so it was not like the place was over run with people. I visited our local Red Lobster with my spouse and three teenage kids. Honestly, I hadn't been to a Red Lobster in years because of the chain's poor reputation. I wish we had stayed away. Our server was polite and took our orders for drinks quickly. Unfortunately, she did not return for over 15 minutes. Three of us started with the lobster bisque and it was just fair. Mine wasn't very hot and it tasted really bland and kind of watered down. If I had to guess, I'd say it came out of a frozen bag and was reheated at the restaurant. The other two had Caesar salads that were just completely overdressed and soggy. My husband ordered shrimp and pasta and he said it had little flavor. One of the kids got popcorn shrimp and said it was good. The shrimp were super tiny and, again, looked like something that had recently been frozen. One of my kids got salmon and a baked potato, but the server didn't bring the baked potato. I ordered stuffed flounder and grilled scallops, also with a missing baked potato. Our server disappeared the second the plates hit the table and I finally had to get up and flag her down so we could get our missing food. My flounder was bland had a weird after taste. The scallops were horrible!! They were so overcooked that they had the texture of pencil erasers. I don't usually do this, but, as we were leaving, the manager said goodbye and asked about our meal. The Red Lobster at Cape Girardeau is not what it once was. We got our salads after our dinner was served. Dinner came out in stages, some of our group had to eat before other. One person in our group did not get his second side dish. One person did not get his soup, and had a ticket for salad and soup, he didn't order the salad at all. Shrimp cocktail was ordered by two people ,one large cocktail was brought to the table for them to share, not easy as they were sitting across a round table from each other, and were not related to each other.
