In fairness, the cheddar biscuits were spot on but on a value level was low. Could have gone to Cheddars Scratch made restaurant and got 3 pieces of fish and chips ( no coleslaw or biscuits) for under $10. Btw, i had water for the beverage. Long John Silvers also less than half price. Kinda bummed. Went there thinking might be my last chance to eat at a formerly premier fish place. I decided to go to the locally abandoned red lobster in Joplin which unless it's a Friday night with your friends it's never busy. I'd say the food came out fairly quickly which was nice on a Monday afternoon after work. Are sever was nice asked if everything was good which it was the usual meh but still better the the Miami ok woodys quite atmosphere same old same old. This is my 2nd time dining at this location. Both food and service were really good. Nice and quiet on a Monday evening passing through on I-44. My only suggestion is please do something about the coleslaw-- the recipe is the worst ever. Many years ago it used to be good. Everything else was hot and fresh. We dined at this Red Lobster on Friday afternoon. Our server, Jennie (I think,) was outstanding! She was very attentive and sweet. She asked if we were celebrating, which we were, and she surprised us with a sundae after our meal! We had the endless shrimp and really enjoyed the shrimp Alfredo, which was quite tasty, the coconut shrimp with an unexpected Pina colada sauce that worked very well with the shrimp. We tried a new cheddar bay shrimp that was delicious! The other flavors were good too. Lobster bisque was not very good, pass on that next time but the lobster cheese dip was excellent, nice chunks of lobster in it. Overall great experience.. we will go back again. read more

The food was amazing the cheddar bay biscuits were hot and fresh and they kept the cheddar bay biscuits coming we never had to ask for any thing the drinks were refilled . Went there Friday evening during the middle of a major rainstorm the place was kind of empty waitress was friendly as good day ordered the all-you-can-eat shrimp fest. And tried their Rangoon stuffed shrimp. Would not recommend this dish couldn't find any of the crab they stuffed it with and it seemed to be overcooked. The food came fast and furious for the all-you-can-eat shrimp. Had a hard time keeping up. A couple of the shrimp dishes were not up to par. The fried shrimp was greasy. I feel that this Red Lobster is very hit and miss with both food and service. It is one of the few places in Joplin where you can find decent seafood, but overall it's definitely overrated and overpriced. In regards to the food, it is okay. The fried and coconut shrimp are decent, however, not much better than store bought. Their Shrimp Alfredo is terribly bland every time I have it. Their saving grace is their Shrimp Scampi as well as other grilled shrimp they provide. Don't forget the Chedder Biscuits as they are a staple. Sweet LAWD I have not been here in a while and it appears they changed some things. Even the coating they cooked the shrimp in tasted new and improved! I had the shrimp trio sampler and hubby had the steak and lobster. He wanted to congratulate the cook personally since his steak was so perfect! He is very picky about his steak. Again we went to Red Lobster because this is my favorite place to eat. Our dining experience could not have been better than excellent which is what ours was that evening. Everyting was dead on right. No waiting for food. Wait staff was showing excellence at every table. I was watching. Cooks did my special order with a 5 star rating. Everything was just so good from the food to the staff to the cooks. There was nothing the matter with our dinner and we will continue going here. Since they have no cheddar cheese biscuits for gluten free dining I sneaked my own baked ones inside with my handbag as cover. We will go back again and more frequently. Since this restaurant is about a 3 hour one way trip there for us and our drive is not an easy drive but our dinner made our Red Lobster dining all well worth the trip. We always leave our tip on the table and are more than generous with our tip and do not want our tip added to our credit cared bill and do not want the server to have to wait for their tip. read more

Cleanliness is important!!! The food was good (they were out of the first two items I tried to order). The drinks were great. The service was awkward....but not horrible...he was trying. I think our waiter was new and nervous so he tried too hard and it was a weird awkward experience...for him. When he carried out our salads he had his thumb in our bowls (yuck) and he just seemed like he needed a bit more training. The inexcusable part of this dining experience was the uncleanliness of the restaurant. It wasn't like they had been busy and hadn't had a chance to clean up....it was old filth...like they just NEVER cleaned. The wall in out booth was nasty. The floor was disgusting. The cracks and corners looked like they hadn't been cleaned since it had opened over 20 years ago. I would expect more and would have thought the chain would require higher standards. This Red Lobster had a very attentive staff that was always making sure nothing ran out and keeping the place clean. Despite dining alone, I was offered about seven cheese-garlic biscuits before my entree arrived. I had popcorn shrimp and fries, with a salad. Popcorn shrimp is probably the least interesting dish offered here and has a tendency to fall apart in the cocktail sauce. Myself and 5 friends went for their endless shrimp tonight. I will start by saying they were VERY busy. That is no excuse for the experience we endured. 1. The service was not very good. We had to flag down the waitress for coffee refills a couple of times. 2. When the plates started coming out, 2 were served. Then several minutes later another 2 were served. The next person their plate. Finally, close to 10 minutes after the first one was served, the last person received their food. 3. Of 6 baked potatoes 4 were not cooked through enough to eat. 4. I ordered the broccoli which was cooked but ice cold(not even room temp)! 5. Someone ordered grilled shrimp on a skewer. Barely heated RAW shrimp was served! I cannot say for sure but the texture was that of rotten fish. Everyone who tried it had to spit the bite out into a napkin because of the awful texture and putrid taste. At that point we were done! While we were waiting for the bills to be processed the manager came by and asked how the meal was. We told her all of the above. She said she would reduce the bills to compensate us. It took them roughly 15 minutes to mess that up. There were 4 bills: I paid for mine with a card. Another paid for hers with cash. Two others paid for themselves and one other with cash. Bottom line my card was charged for two meals. When we left I had the manager called out. I told her how unhappy I was about everything. I also pointed out that I was charged for someone else's meal. Her first response was NOT to apologize but to say it was not her fault. She didn't know who paid for what. She did them offer to split the bill off the card. I told her I did not want to waste any more of my time. I would NOT be coming back and I would most certainly YELP the experience. My wife and I went to Red Lobster back in December for a date night, first night out without kids in almost 14 months. I couldn't describe to you how terrible and repulsive this place was. From sitting for 30mins before getting drinks, then the food (ordered 2 steak and shrimp scampi dinners - first, out of asparagus when placing order, tuna poke took AN HOUR (explaining that the tuna was still frozen... but get this - they used a defroster or hot water to thaw it as it had begun to turn white and had no flavor at all), our medium rare steaks were cold, tough, and STEAK ONLY COOKED -well done at that- ON ONE SIDE??? Then they flipped it over so it could warm a little on the other and still stay red in the middle?!) being awful, hospitality (overly rude, and rarely saw our waiter) , cleanliness (the same three tables surrounding us remained covered with dirty dishes from prior customers and were still there when we left 2 hours later - even a half hour AFTER we informed the manager!!!), and I could go on. The waiter agreed to how bad our experience was and apologized. Then the manager still had the nerve to bring our ticket with a full $56 price on it! We were livid! I advised that I understood bad days happen, to which she replied nothing was out of sorts but that there was a "HUGE party in the back that came in at the same time," when the lot had 3 cars in it when we got there, and 4 when we left! Needless to say, the manager comped our inedible dinner and gave us a $50 gift card to come back for a "better experience." Fifty bucks wouldn't cover what we ordered (waters, mind you!) even WITHOUT the asparagus! We have purposely avoided that place and didn't want to go back. So we tried to give it another shot and tonight we ordered to go. Well... to make it short, they confirmed exactly how terrible they really are. The shrimp alfredo tasted pretty much like a seafood microwave dinner, my kids were given dried up oranges, soft, mushy cheese sticks and so on. This is a SEVERE management problem!!!! This Red Lobster is quite gross. Came in on a monday with the wife for endless shrimp. The bread tasted like dish water, and the shrimp was horrible. Hands down the worst I have had. I dined at 3pm so I can't speak to the wait time. My entree was good and hot, ceasar was good, biscuits were good (not fresh but at 3 u can't expect them to fix a new batch for you) my service was perfect and she was very sweet. I really wanted to get one of the sampler platters like the fishermans delight or whatever the name is. but at 30$ a plate i guess not. Maybe it costs that much to put that on a plate but more than this working man wants to invest in a late lunch.
