The food was ok. I can't eat a lot of things because they add onions when cooking. I know most people like onions but the onions don't like me. They had chicken livers. But they were cold. This food made me yearn for hospital food! Today was steak day on the buffet. I'm not sure if it actually came from a cow. It was tough and tasteless. The buffet resembles a buffet from the 1960's and so does the clientele. Most of the food was fried. The non fried vegetables were water logged. I know this is a good place to go if you are hungry because of their buffet. I was very hungry so in I went. Not the cleanest place on earth, but don't let that stop you. The salad bar had everything you could want and no brown lettuce to be found. The fried chicken was pretty good, and the brisket was great. Oh, yeah, they had delicious hush puppies (my favorite). I want to start on a positive note: awesome service from Odalys my server! They owe the second star to her! Having said that, it might be that a 2 stat rating is my fault. I'd never been to a Sirloin Stockade, silly me, I expected maybe not sirloin but some kind of meat on the grill. What I got was a leathery piece of rib with maybe two mouthfuls of meat. Next time around they had perfected the leather making process! It was an actual piece of rib but cooked to Oblivion. Like I said, this is my fault. I should have researched the place a little better. The rest of the place, salad bar, tacos and soups were meh..... Good place for children, it seems. There were scores of them! Nothing wrong with that, I just wasn't expecting it. Again, my fault. Disappointing place. Will never go to another one. Now I know! Update. Okay, if your older and can remember Sizzler. Well this is it. It even looks like it might have been a Sizzler once but if not the format is the same. Menu board up front, pick up drink and tray. Order from the buffet and salad bar which is a bit more country high-carb down home country cooking than the old Sizzler. Service is far better than most Sizzlers, with friendly older staff instead of college students serving you and they seem to truly care that you are getting good service. Lots of locals at lunch who all seem to know each other and the staff well. Which adds to the small town vibe that I like. read more

Food is just OK. Some of the old favorites are gone. Apparently changed owners a couple years back. Place just seems dark and dismal inside. Many of the food choices never seem to change. Some food is just warm from the buffet. I want a HOT buffet. Live here in town and rarely think about eating there. That's says a lot. Not bad, just not something that springs to mind as a "Hey! Coming to this restaurant is not a good idea. The salad bar and buffet all looked great but all of the food was below mediocre, they saturated the baked potatoes with margarine in which you couldn't eat it, fish was cold, cheese cake had no flavor, and they had the worst tasting Marinara sauce I've sampled. Not only do I not like the food, there is only senior citizens discount with the buffet. To top it all off, when we walked in the restaurant,the hostess was deep in her phone and got mad when we asked how their seating arrangements were. Normally I go to Sirloin Stockade and never have had an issue. I go there because the salad bar is the bomb.com and I love salad. It is one of my favorite places to go for salad and the other food is pretty good as well. Tonight however I went in for a late dinner and our waitress was exceptionally great considering what time it was BUT... there were 2 young men (I'm not 100% sure about one of them but by name they are males) and they kept staring at me and laughing. They were so painfully obvious about it that it hurt my feelings and angered me all at the same time! When I asked our waitress to relay a message for me because I was beyond pissed about being so hurt that I didn't truly enjoy the food, she came back and said they said they were laughing about messages they got on their phones... there phones were not even out. She offered to get the manager which I said no I would call tomorrow and talk to the owner to which she said ok and gave me their names George and Alan... I went to pay and the manager was taking my credit card and he said was everything ok to which I said no. I started to explain and he cut me off before I could even finish telling me what they had done and said "I know them and they wouldn't do that". I said ok whatever and at this point it became obvious to me that even going to the owners would do no good! They have lying employees and a manager that does not give a shit about the customers which I suspect the boys are his family and that is why it fell on deaf ears! I wish I had a better review for SS as it truly was one of my favorite places to eat! I hope and pray no one ever has any further issues with these little boys and that someone explains to them that is not how a man should act. This business posts hours on their door and online that they are open until 9:00pm. I went at 7:00pm and their door was locked so I called their number and the man who answered the phone said it wasn't busy so they just decided to close early. They closed 2 hours early! Not good business practice at all especially if you advertise that you're open until a certain time, 9:00pm. We will now feel as if we cannot count on the restaurant and will choose to go elsewhere so we don't waste our time trying here first. Really too bad. read more

Recently we visited here on our way down Route 66 for our honeymoon. We decided to stay in Carthage on that particular day and this place was quite near to our hotel. We fancied going for a buffet dinner as we hadn't actually had one yet on our journey and we were pleasantly surprised by this place. There is nothing really different from here than say somewhere like Golden Corral, essentially the premise us pretty much the same. The food was good though, nothing you could say was badly cooked at all. There was plenty of variety but I might say that there could have been a bit more than what was there. There were some lovely desserts on offer as well. The staff were really friendly and we got chatting to waitress there who was really happy to chat to us about our trip and where to go in the city of Carthage. Overall it was a good place to eat, could do with a bit more of offer but we enjoyed ourselves all the same. The price was very reasonable indeed for what you get. I was going to give it a 3 with the idea of it being a 3.5 but I have raised it to a 4 for making our stay in Carthage a pleasant one. read more

Normally, I find buffets kind of icky with everyone sharing the same food, coughing/sneezing/whatever, but sometimes I let my husband win the food war and this was a good pick! We've been here twice now, and both times the buffet was very full, hot, and really good food. The brisket and catfish were our favorites. The salad bar has lots of toppings and cold salads. There were ribs, salmon, tortellini, mac & cheese, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and veggies. It was all the same food both times, so I'm not sure if the regularly change it or not. Both times we've been were on a Saturday for lunch. The desserts were pretty sparse- we don't have much of a sweet tooth so it was find for us, but if that's what you're looking for I'd try else where. In full disclosure, I do not like buffets. If you like random assortments of all kinds of heat lamp food in endless quantities, then this is your place. I personally find it very unappetizing, yet the Stockade is always packed (a complete mystery to me). With all the positive reviews, buffet lovers must like this place a lot. Very pleasantly surprised by the food. For a buffet think they do it right less on quantity and more on quality. One bad thing was the fried shrimp tasted awful but it was definitely from some bad oil they were using tonight. The fried catfish was awesome, steak was perfect. My family and I went there last night, This is the second time we have dined there. Last night was extremely busy when we arrived. We all had the buffet. The food was constantly brought out and fresh. Our Server for the evenings name was Cherokee. During the time that we were there we never saw the bottom of our glasses, because she had them filled as soon as they got low. She had many tables and never disappeared and was equally responsive to all of her customers. Each time I went to the buffet and passed her she asked if everything was ok and if there was anything we needed. The food was good for a buffet and I rated it 4 stars for the food but I would definitely rate the service 5 Stars+. Best service we have had in a long time. read more
