I used to go to this Red Lobster all the time when I lived in IL, because really there isn't anything to do there but eat and shop. If you hate the type of restaurant where every couple you see is sitting on the same side of the table then this isn't the place for you. They've raised their prices and their portions are less. It is as if I am paying for a gourmet restaurant when I am getting a 3/5 star chain restaurant. Anyways, the swordfish I had was good. However, I asked for the swordfish flavoring on the side, the salad dressing on the side, and for my green beans/vegetables to be plain. None of these requests were fulfilled. The calamari we ordered for an appetizer was probably about 1/3 calamari and 2/3 breaded vegetables. It was a horrible experience overall and I plan on never going to a red lobster again. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I decided to order take out from this Red Lobster restaurant because I did not feel like dining in and because my previous take out experiences were okay. Although it has been years since I last ordered take out here, I thought it was safe enough to do- bad decision. Let's get right to the food, shall we? I ordered the shrimp linguine alfredo - cajun style. It's one of my favorites from their menu. First, the shrimp linguine... terrible. The shrimp were as small as salad shrimp. Say what?? Yup. Miniature shrimp. And, the linguine tasted bland and a bit coarse. The sauce was edible and the cajun seasoning was carelessly tossed on top. The caesar salad... Besides the fact that they gave me WILTED ICEBERG LETTUCE topped with mounds of little annoying cheese strips, I was not given ANY salad dressing!! Who does that? Mean, heartless people I tell you! Here is the humbling part... I really wish I had pics to show you. I could provide you with irrefutable proof of my poor experience, mini shrimp and wilted lettuce. The truth is that I threw the salad away, yet I ate every bit of the linguine. Not one morsel was left. I am not a hypocrite, I'm not. I was just hungry! Don't judge me. The visit was ok. Took several minutes to be greeted then several more to be seated. I wasn't in a hurry, it was a business meeting... But if I were, I would've been upset. They didn't short of staff. It was not busy. But yet it took a long time for them to take our orders. And even longer time to take our money. I wish I could rate them a - five. I was there to eat a late dinner 10 pm on a Saturday. It was a little busy there. I walked over to the bar there was plenty of open seats, but the bar was filled with dirty dishes. So I waited and I waited the bartender kept looking out the corner of his eye he never acknowledged me. I got tired of waiting after standing there for over minutes I went to talk to the manager. She walked over to the bar with me talked to them them left. I stood there another ten minutes and she came back and said to me have they greeted you yet I said no. She looked at her bartender and she said I was busy somewhere else, which was a lie because she was there talking to another employee probably because I was expecting her to do her job. After another five minutes the bartender came near me and I said you could never work for me. The manager Renee said you can't talk to my employee's I already talked to them, I said I'm the customer and I can tell them about me being unhappy about my experience there. She said I don't want you to talk to them. I said fine don't worry have a nice evening I will take my business elsewhere and walked out. The bar was still full of dirty dishes the bar had six empty seats, but you couldn't tell from the amount of dishes left unattended. In this place the customer is wrong for wanting to sit down and order a meal, to be greeted by a server and treated with respect from the wait staff and the managers are even worse. I have managed restaurants before I don't understand how this place is successful. If you like being treated like an annoying customer who wants good customer, who pisses off the managers because you hate the lack of good customer service skills, then go there. I will never eat there or anything else. My advise go somewhere else let them treat you like a customerbe treated, because they wont here. They suck really bad here. read more

While I love the Red Lobster cheese biscuits, I recently went to the one in Fort Walton Beach. This uneaten serving of brown rice they gave us was maybe ONE -1/2 TABLESPOON. REALLY???? The food was so bad we had to send it back and the service was worse. All we ate was the potatoes and biscuits. Then they charged us top dollar for the seafood. This was literally the worst visit at a Red Lobster ever. We were prepared to just really enjoy ourselves tonight. I should have took the fruit fly flying away as we say down as a sign but... my fault. We were seated right away at 8:56 p.m. At no point were we told who our server was. At 9:16 the server (who we had seen the entire time in our area )sashayed to the table and says "do yall want anything to drink"... (huh) no greeting, no sorry about the wait, no hi my name is? I instantly got upset because horrible customer service should never be tolerated..he didn't tell us any specials, couldn't tell us simple things like vegetables offered so attempting to place our order was difficult. My husband got upset and went to see a manager to request another server but that wasn't any better. While acknowledging what he did was wrong she never apologized. You could clearly see that we didn't even have biscuits, water, or silverware. We decided to leave. 1/23/16 We reserved for a group of 25, last night for my friend birthday. So we prepared them in advance for our large group. We arrived on time @5:30 p.m. I believe this was the WORST & SLOWEST SERVICE I have EVER IN MY LIFE received from a Red Lobster chain.Our group received 3 waiters every 4-5 people. The young lady Jamie that was waiting on us was VERY UNATTENTIVE. We had to ask her for water, she brought the water without the straws. It took absolutely FOREVER to receive our food, we didn't get our food until about 7:45-8:00. I ordered the honey glazed salmon & shrimp. Out of my entire group I was the last one to receive my meal. Like how long does it take to cook salmon? NOT EVEN 10 minutes. So when they brought it out it was burned & over cooked. By this time I am furious. I just waited 2 hours for my meal, so I asked to speak to a manager (Holly). Holly came over to the group table & I put in my complaint & told her how horrible our experience is being. She apologize & sent the salmon & shrimp back. 20min later they brought out a plate with just a piece of salmon & a corn on the cob. On my original plate I had Salmon, shrimp, mash & corn. Again our waiter Jamie never came back to even check to see if there was a problem. I waited & the shrimp never came out. I requested for Holly to return to our group & showed her what was sent out to me, just salmon & corn. I asked her where was my shrimp & mash? She said I will have them to bring them out to you. SHRIMP NEVER came even after a 3rd request speaking to Holly. Then let alone our server Jamie never returned to the table neither. We had to utilize another sever Chris that w evening. as helping 5 other people in our group. Chris was the BOMB. He basically took care of the group of 25 by himself. So since the shrimp never came we requested for our check because we were ALL ready to just GO. We did not leave up out of there until 10:20. 5 hours later. This is no lie, I have my receipt with the time. I LOVE RED LOBSTER, but I will NEVER return to Matteson location. If I do I would call 1st to make hell for sure Holly & Jamie is not on shift for the evening. read more

I have been to this Red Lobster location several times and each experience has been different. This most recent visit on July 20th truly spoke to the lack of professionalism, customer service and leadership from the management. When we arrived, we gave our name and number of people who would be dining. An employee walked between and and my girlfriend (instead of walking around us) almost pushing me aside and told us to follow him. He sat us near a large birthday party table and said our waiter would be with us. More than 5 minutes went by before the manager saw us sitting there without water and asked who was covering our table. The server eventually showed up but he was clearly overwhelmed with the large party. The service was very slow although he was very king and apologized for the wait. The food was good but we decided not to keep eating because the birthday party table was very loud. When we wanted to leave, it took at least 5 minutes or more for us to get our check. Management should have worked with the larger birthday gathering to provide additional assistance to the waiter in charge of that table and should have worked with them about the very loud noise level. A family with a small baby had to move to another table in order to have a more peaceful dinner. I don't mind going to this location but hopefully the management will continue to work on customer service routines with the staff and timeliness. read more

Customer service at this restaurant was very poor. When I first came to the restaurant there was food on my chair and the waitress handed me a napkin to clean the chair off. Next, the waitress was not going to allow us to order our drinks right away and so I told her no I was ready to order now. My fiancé had a question with the food he ordered and she was looking frustrated and giving a look as if his question was ridiculous. As a customer you have the right to question the waitress about food you ordered. Then, the same lady that served us was getting smart with me when I asked for shrimp cocktail sauce. I asked can I get some more cocktail sauce and she said you mean may you have some more cocktail sauce. So I asked to speak to her manager because she was trying to get smart with me and she rolled her eyes. She had a very bad attitude. I will not be attending this Red Lobster again. read more

I am done with them! I've been there numerous times but lately, they've really lost all the flair that made them my fancy, go to seafood restaurant. For our wedding dinner, we had 3 different servers. No, we weren't belligerent and we didn't ask for a different server. It seems they couldn't decided who was in charge of our table. The confusion was beyond frustrating. After all, there were only 2 of us. I didn't think it was that hard to service 2 adults. When our correct appetizers arrived, they were overcooked. A seafood restaurant that overcooks shrimp? That's less believable than Big Foot. On another occasion, they gave us the wrong appetizers. Artichoke dip and pizza don't look the same. To this day, I can't understand that mix up. A cookie cutter apology was given and back to the kitchen the server went. I guess the restaurant thought it was doing us a favor by allowing us to keep the incorrect appetizers while they cooked the correct ones. It bothered me because if we had never been there and/or were allergic, we might've been in serious trouble. I don't know what's worse: overcooked shrimp, the wrong appetizer or multiple confused servers. Either way, I won't be back to Matteson's Red Lobster to find out. read more

I ordered the ultimate feast but instead of the crib awake I wanted an extra small lobster tail and also I did not like the flat lobster tail that would serve with it so I said give me another small laughter to going to the bat one but I was told that there would be a mob great see that that's fine OK when I got home and opened up my package I was very upset when I saw that there was only one lobster tail on top and The flat lobster tail what's on the bottom hidden by a piece of aluminum for oil my order contained no sour cream or butter for my baked potato there was 2 teaspoons full of it look like some kind of rice floating in water. I was charged $80 for that meal it would've been worth me paying bet if I had gotten what I ordered but I did not get what I would order it when I had ordered. A friend treated me to lunch. We waited for biscuits because none was prepared. The person I was with ordered another basket of biscuits and again we had to wait because they were not made in advance. I did not finish my food, so I got a to go container. When I reheated the biscuits at home and ate them. I thought I would never stop burning. My skin was on fire. I will never again visit this Red Lobster.
