Red Lobster has been a main staple in our family starting with all you can eat snow crabs (long since discontinued) to endless shrimp which comes and goes but definitely a place where we would go and over eat. We had not been in awhile since new management took over, endless shrimp was removed, and food and service just were not the same. When we heard endless shrimp had returned we knew we had to go back. Mind you prices for participating in the shrimp free for all has gone up substantially and will set you back 29.99 a person. For me I can no longer eat like that so bowed out of the free for all. My partner in crime was totally on board for participating n the free for all.... While plates come out steadily food quality and taste are just not there. Given the price endless shrimp is no longer the deal it used to be and for the price would rather order quality seafood. The restaurant is in clear need of TLC and has not been updated in many years. Sad as days gone by I remember when endless shrimp was in full swing there would be a wait for a table with all three dining rooms open. We won't be back. Nothing was explicitly horrible. But nothing was great. I feel for the portion sizes the prices are crazy. Fish n chips is very small. The kids meal was tiny. Chicken tender kids meal was literally two small tenders that were hard and crunchy. The sirloin steak was almost $25 and it was tough and chewy. Overall just not impressed. The place was clean, server was friendly-ish, and the cheddar bay biscuits are good. read more

Not the first time we've eaten there. I was very disappointed this time. It's been a while & I was concerned after seeing the news reports about the chain in general. My server forgot that I totld him he had 2 seniors & one Veteran with him today. So, when the bill came, no discount! Not good. Now the food IMHO was sub par this time, I had the Surf & Turf. Should be a no brainer for Red Lobster. My lobster wasn't cooked all the way & the Turf was just OK. No complaint On the veggies. Potatoes also OK. For me, slightly annoyed that they don't have O'dohls NA. I'm thinking for the price they charge for dinner I won't be returning to Red Lobster. Went with my mother tonight to enjoy the new seafood boils from the menu. On left is the "Mariner's boil" (Maine lobster tail, a dozen shrimp, snow crab legs, corn & red potatoes) on the right is the "Sailor's boil" (2 dozen shrimp, smoked sausage, corn & red potatoes). Both were served with a combo butter garlic & Cajun sauce. You can choose the spicy level, we stuck with just the combo sauces. They were delicious to share between the two of us with a dinner each in leftovers. We also enjoyed the "crabmeat topped" mushrooms as an appetizer (sorry no photo) . It was a fun treat for us. Our server was excellent & the restaurant & bathroom were very clean. Happy hour drink specials too. I highly recommend Red Lobster as an option in addition to many wonderful local establishments in New Hartford. For my mother and me it also brings fond memories of dining there over the decades with family. A classic place that you will not be disappointed to visit. Our waitress was good. Food was what you would expect from Red Lobster. But I would not bring your kids, as apparently it is not kid friendly and a 5 star dining experience. While we were finishing up, our child was standing right next to me, several feet away from a waiter who was extremely rude. When he made the comment that the child needed to sit down and that we needed to control our children...With that being said, my wife then had to take our children to the car early, while I paid the check. I was driving through the area and came into Red Lobster to get lunch. Upon arriving, I was promptly seated. At the time, the restaurant was half empty, so I expected lightning fast service. Nevertheless, none of the servers came by to take my order. They served the tables around me but completely avoided me for just shy of 20 minutes. Once my order was placed, however, my food came out fairly quickly. The quality of the food was on-par with that of other Red Lobster locations. Since my last visit with my parents the food has improved, but the service declined severely. Service can really make or break an experience and that was certainly the case this night. We were promptly seated and the delicious cheddar bay biscuits were brought out along with our drinks. After that our drinks were not kept full. At one of the few instances we saw our server I was able to request more. Our dinners were good, I had the Bar harbor lobster bake which included mussels, scallops, shrimp and lobster in a rich white wine broth. My parents had the pick 2 wood fired scallops and coconut shrimp and the crab cake dinner. The coconut shrimp was to die for not to mention the amazing dipping sauce it came with. The crab cakes were good, just a little bit salty. All meals came with side salad to start. The trouble here was not only was our waiter unattentive and came back smelling strong of cigarette smoke several times, but we heard the server in the section next to ours being so rude to multiple tables that at times it was actually uncomfortable. At meals end, I presented a coupon and 2 gift certificates that I had. All were on my phone. The server insisted on having to take my phone to the register to scan the barcodes. I know this was stupid of me and I shouldn't have allowed it, but when he returned with my phone, which was NOT a short time later, I looked and he had opened my Samsung Pay app. The gift cert and coupon were not saved in there btw, they were separate. I am sure this was not a mistake as I had no other things open on the phone. He didnt even try to hide it (close it). Luckily there isn't much to see in there as the card numbers are protected, but I have had to diligently monitor my account since then. We did not report him to the manager because it is hard to prove, but took down his name and saved the receipt with transaction info incase there was an issue that arose in the future from his tampering. read more

It's been years since i have been to Red Lobster. My husband and I joked that when we were younger that we had known Red Lobster as being the best seafood around and only for special occasion. Wow, times have changed. Red Lobster was busy but we were able to get a seated right away. It was the advantage of a party of two. Our waiter was very attentive but almost felt like he was trying way too hard. We started off with a watermelon margarita, it was refreshing and a little too sweet. Next we had a shrimp cocktail which contained 6 shrimps of decent size. Yum! On to our meals, the salads were honestly a little pathetic looking (see pics). My husband ordered the steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered the rainbow trout (part of today's catch of the day) with a baked potato and broccoli. The waiter was good on meeting my dietary accommodations of no dairy & gluten. Overall the food was okay but not the best by any means. I left full so that is always a good thing. read more

We did a GrubHub delivery last night and I admit I was skeptical. Any seafood delivery is sketchy for me honestly! We ordered the lobster and steak and the Alfredo pasta. It came at a decent temperature (we live out of the way so even being a bit over warm is pretty good lol) and the steak was cooked perfectly to order. The lobster was delicious, as was the pasta. Even the famous rolls were still good. The clarified butter is super rich so watch that, and the baked potato came with nothing (no butter or anything, even on the side) and that was disappointing. Other than that it was great, although pricey. Update- So we tried them again. Sadly it has gone downhill. The strip steak was technically rare but it was so tough it was almost inedible. The potatoes were fine but flavorless. We got one small pat of melted butter in the small little packet and a hot packet of sour cream, and no options for adding extras or even utensils. Some people order in for their house but not everyone. The option to add those type of things (which a number of places do out here) would make a huge difference. This was bland, super tough (the steak), and after Ann inedible lobster tail I was sadly brought back to my original thought that seafood isn't really a good seafood option from Red Lobster when it comes to delivery. Last week I had an issue with a VISA gift card. I had a $52.18 balance. My bill was $48.00. The waitress ran it twice. It was declined! The assistant mgr Samantha(I believe)came to speak with me at my request. I had called the card company and was told after many minutes of talking, they would not release all of the money.They "hold back" 20% when it is for a restuarant.That is a ripoff. Samantha explained all of it very nicely to me! She was extremely patient and very informative. She was at my table the entire time! She ran the card again to get the most off of it towards our meal. Moral of the story is: "generic gift cards have limitations" and Samantha is GREAT to deal with! read more

Went to red lobster for a bday dinner and it was just as I expected. Kurtis and Makala were attentive and very pleasant. We shared stuffed mushrooms and calamari for apps and both dishes were prompt and tasty. I want to write this yelp not on behalf of the staff or food. Both were wonderful and would recommend them based on our experience. However, I feel compelled to disclose and vent over the unprofessional and disrespectful actions of the general management Chester galinski iii. I went to the bar to order drinks because my party tends to take on the bill and I wanted to pay for Some Thing! I had ordered at bar and received drinks. This guy "Chet" comes behind the bartender and scolds her for not having me order by our server. I assured her that he was in the wrong (as she instantly looked uncomfortable and embarrassed) and truth be told, I was uncomfortable as a patron to see an employee be scolded in front of me. Now don't get the impression I'm just on a rant. My mother was a Darden general manager for 14 years and I feel I have some understanding on corporate etiquette in the workplace. This guy Chet came in the bar area, saw me order, seen I was with a party, and decided to speak out. Our server obviously could not or did not want to handle both tables. Did not clear our table, attend to drinks , ignored my husband when he asked her for a drink, but had time to chit chat with other party. Did not even offer desert to us. When we arrived at this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon the place was fairly empty but we had to wait 30 minutes for a table because we had a party of 5. When we finally sat down we realized that the table had been open the whole time we were there so we were a little unclear on the wait time. When it was time to order the waiter was a bit brisk and on multiple occasions was rude to the group. At one point he gave us the wrong salads and when we passed them to the right people at the table he challenged us with "Is there an issue with your salads?" The food itself was cold, salty and some of the items were overcooked. The final icing on the cake was when the waiter asked us if we signed our bill so that he "wouldn't have to chase us in the parking lot." I went to this place for Father's Day. I was glad the server was nice and very serving to us. We didn't have to wait too long to get our food. However the food for us were a little salty. Maybe it's not what we expected since it's out first time. But overall I do like some things on the menu like the mixed grill with salmon. If you get the mussels, try if you can ask them not to put too much salt on the sauce lol. read more

Face it, a Red Lobster has the same food at every location. The only difference is how each is run. The Utica area location has a great staff. We traveled 2 hours to meet relatives from farther south and enjoyed a great leisurely dinner. Our waiter was the best, always attentive and very funny! I am sure everyone is familiar with Red Lobster...but I just wanted to pass on my most recent and last dining experience at this disaster of a chain... Upon entering the hostess/greeter was very unhappy and we received no friendly greeting only told us there would be a 15 minute wait. After our wait for a table we thought it seemed odd to wait even 15 minutes since the restaurant was pretty fairly empty. We thought they might be short handed and sure enough that seemed to be the case. Our server took another 10 minutes to acknowledge us. Once we ordered we settled on a grilled salmon, and 2 lobsters (of course). The menu claims the lobster are 1 1/2 lbs and do not come cheap. Once our meals arrived there was nothing special. It tasted like it was boiled, then sat around for awhile and then tossed back in a pot of water to reheat. It seemed to be lacking that sweet, briny delicious flavor all lobsters have. I realize great lobster does not need any assistance but the claimed size, we felt was way off, and the lack of flavor made it a disappointment. We then tried to ask the waitress for a fork and more drawn butter (to give the bland lobsters some flavor) but she was unavailable throughout the time. It was an ordeal to get anything to our table. Ordered for pickup and went to pick up my food and some of my food ended up missing with my order. I called and spoke with the manager and he apologized and offered to fix the mistake immediately. He provided great service and he made me feel important as a customer. He even offered dessert when I went back on top of that for the inconvenience. This Red Lobster was definitely better than most. From the cleanliness to the airy atmosphere to the diversity in patronage to the quality of food, I rather enjoyed this lunch experience. The food was fresh and delicious. My date even ordered a non-seafood dish and was very happy with the outcome. My crab Alfredo lunch portion was definitely adequately portioned, and I have to say the amount of crab was eye popping. Not to mention delicious! We did order appetizers and I was very happy with my server's knowledge of ingredients. I cannot have scallops (which is a shame, because they always look and smell so appetizing), and the server knew right away that the seafood stuffed mushrooms do in fact contain scallops. We opted for a duo of mozzarella sticks and crispy green beans for an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were fine -just what one would expect. The crispy green beans were not so wonderful. They were edible, but definitely not crispy and the batter flaked off on the short trip from the plate to the dipping sauce. It almost seemed as though they had used the previous evening's boiled green beans for today's crispy green bean lunch. Who knows. :) Regardless, we were not disappointed at all with the whole of our experience, and I must add that all of the good I saw on other tables as I walked through or that I saw being brought out looked and smelled very appetizing. This is the easiest 5 stars I have ever given to a restaurant. Red Lobster in New Hartford ABSOLUTELY SLAPS in every possible category. The restaurant has a cozy, coastal ambience, and it is very clean. We were seated seconds after walking through the door, and our lovely waiter, Kurt, came right over to help us. He explained the menu clearly and answered all of our many questions about the different combos and promotions being offered. Right away these CRAZY bay cheddar biscuits show up to the table, piping hot...out of control good. Ate 5. Only regret not having a 6th. SHOULD YOU BE WONDERING...they are UNLIMITED. I mean...awesome. We ended up ordering the shrimp cocktail (for only $5 which is VERY INSANE), and it was very fresh and delicious. Could eat the cocktail sauce with a spoon, which I actually ended up doing. Legit could not help myself. THEN came out amazing entrees: the lobster and the skirt steak. Both cooked to absolute perfection. You can really tell that the chefs at Red Lobster care deeply about the food they prepare. I loved my experience and will be back very, very soon. read more

We did not have a good time at red lobster. We were celebrating my birthday and they didn't give dessert or anything they just poorly (not happily) sang happy birthday and left. $20 for crab legs and they were so small. There was a butter wrapper in the dish of butter and the Cesar salad was so small. One of our guests got a Caesar salad for the meal and it was nothing. However they did have good servers and asked if our guest carrying a baby seat wanted a sling which held the carrier at table level. We were not impressed by our expensive meal and we will not be returning. read more

We had dinner at this Red Lobster last evening. It was late, only a few customers. I had the steak and shrimp and added on an additional shrimp skewer. My dinner arrived with only one shrimp skewer so I thought the waitress forgot to put in the additional order. A small mistake and I decided not to do anything, but simply have one skewer with the steak. I was getting full so I declined dessert too. The shrimp were simply OK and the steak good but not great, well cooked but not very tender. When I received the bill, there was the additional charge for the extra skewer. I told the waitress and she said they would take it off my bill, credit my card and re-ring the charge. She offered an apology and a free dessert, which I had already declined. Today, I find that dinner cost $200.00! They charged my card three times. As an aside, the table next to us had a mistake with their order too. While the food gets the usual three star Red Lobster rating and the was waitress pleasant, the management gets only one. read more

Lunch: Ordered "Captin's Platter" (or similiar name) and it came with 3 small paper thin pieces of fish that had a peculiar taste, loads of french fries, shrimp and cole slaw. The crab legs were watery, they served me a salad that literally consisted of nothing but lettuce... my wifes salmon was dry and my mother disliked her dish as well, i don't recall what she had.
