I had not been to a Red lobster in over 10 years but due to a limited amount of places to eat at after 9pm on a Thursday night while in Sumter I decided to give it a try. My 88 year old father in law comes here weekly not sure if it is the boomers sense of dedication or what but they all still stand by this chain. I ordered my food to go online. The curbside to go parking is located across the parking lot and there was like 3 spots to park in. Once I arrived I texted the number of my parking spot. The restaurant looked fairly empty but even after the pick up time no one came to my car. I saw other people parking and then going inside to grab their orders. I ended up having to go inside to get my order, upon walking in a young lady handed me my bag. The inside looked clean and the environment was casual. My order included grilled Mahi, broccoli and brussel sprouts with a added skewer of shrimp. The veggies were the stars of the meal the Brussel Sprouts were very good and the broccoli was fresh and cooked well. The shrimp were decent a tad dried out but not bad. The grilled Mahi was not good, it looked like it was grilled in water and had an awful smell from what ever was used to grill it. I took a few bites and the fish was flavorless and the smell was so overwhelming that I couldn't eat the rest. Even the cheese biscuits were mediocre. Amongst the many dying chains Red lobster is definitely on life support. I'm not sure how long a reputation can keep a business open but the food is not what it used to be. I was at Red Lobster yesterday, and the food was terrible. I ordered the mushrooms and crab. It smelled good, but it was not good-looking and tasted so salty. As my main dish, I ordered the flounder, broccoli, and a baked potato no lie it all tasted the same salty. The shock was that the famous cheddar bay biscuits were nasty too salty, and I said this cannot be so. so I got a to-go box, to take the rest of the food home to my dogs because I only ate the biscuits and the mushrooms, which I had to wash down with strawberry lemonade. I thought maybe that batch of biscuits was bad, no so was the ones I took home salty. The best thing about why I gave them a 1 was that the waitress was very good, professional, kind, and sweet. I had not eaten at a Red Lobster in several years, Sumter or otherwise, so my wife and I decided to give it a try. Shrimp fest was going on (unlimited shrimp for $20) and at 6:00 pm it was not crowded so we were seated immediately. Restaurant was only about 25% full. Waiter took our order and brought us cheddar biscuits that were really good and hot. We were disappointed that dinner came with only 1 side. In addition, if you chose a salad as your 1 side, there was a surcharge as a "premium side". Unfortunately the disappointment was only beginning. It took 30 minutes for our first orders to come out. I asked the waiter (very nicely) if there was a problem in the kitchen. He replied that there was no problem, they were just "slammed". What? Only 25% or less and no food coming out to other diners and he says they are slammed? I overheard other servers apologizing to other diners for the wait so I know it was not just us. Finally got our food and it was pretty good. Based on how long it was taking, we placed refill orders. Good thing because we were through long before refills arrived. Maybe it is all you can eat but our patience out long before we were full. Maybe that was the purpose? The server was nice, the food better than expected but due to the price, only 1 side and most of all the incredibly slow service of food, I doubt we will be back. Or at least not back to THIS Red Lobster. Had the waiter been honest if they were having kitchen problems I would be more understanding but that ship sailed. read more

To start off with our waiter Tiffany was AMAZING! She always had a smile on her face, and kept the drinks full and she made sure the biscuits never got low! The food was delicious everything was hot and came out in a timely manner. I ordered the 3 for $15.99. The coconut shrimp was delicious with the sauce and the salad was good as well! My mother and I came here for Veterans Day without knowing the deal ended at 4:00. We showed up at 4 but had to wait 30 minutes because it was crazy busy. A go to place for lunch for me as well as some of my Dealer customers. I especially like to go on Monday with the all you can eat shrimp specials for $15. It makes a big difference to me that the salad is included as well as one side. I don't like places that charge extra to add a salad as a side. My husband and I ordered Endless Shrimp. It is good deal if I only order once and a great deal for my husband since he enjoys shrimp. My husband's reorder took 1 hour to get to the table. Best place to eat in Sumter! Costly, but you always get good service and good food. The only negative I have noticed is how they clean tables between customers. They wipe the seats and then with the same rag they clean the table top. Am I too touchy? I don't do this at home so why can't they put a little more effort? My daughter who served for almost 10 years in the USAF, her husband for 15 plus years in the same.
