We went to Red Lotus on a Sunday evening at 4pm and had the place to ourselves. Sad because the food was awesome!! We are originally from Raleigh NC with a wide variety of good food. We have been struggling to find a good sushi restaurant since moving to CT since we don't do tempura and we like specialty rolls vs traditional. So we drove 40 mins here for our 10 yr anniversary dinner. It was well worth the drive. We started with the ribs and they were so good and tender they just fell off the bone. We then had three specialty rolls which also didn't disappoint. Everything was fresh and the delicious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was clean, modern and probably feels even more upscale in the evenings. I picked this location because of the reviews and of how it was decorated and felt more classy than most sushi places. Don't hesitate going here!! Everyone had on masks and the restaurant was very clean. We can't let good restaurants like this go because of covid. If your in the area do takeout if you can't come in. I'd gladly take my kids here too since they have more than just sushi. read more

Keep up the good work! Frequent visits for take out and solid noodle dishes with great vegetarian mai fun - fresh veggies, well cooked tofu, customized level of curry. Best in the area. Have not ventured to other dishes. Decor is nice and a definite change from what you'll typically see in this area. So disappointed! I went in for dinner tonight with some new friends on a mom's retreat. After much hesitation, I sent my hibachi chicken ($17) back because it was chewy. Shortly after I sent it back the owner came by to tell me he tried my chicken and it was delicious. I was so taken back that he ate off my plate I didn't know what to say. He told me he would take it off my bill and offered to make me a new dish. He offered a filet hibachi dinner to which I agreed. However, when my billed arrived I was charged $26 for a meal I never initially ordered! As I was with new friends, I did not want to cause a scene and paid my bill and left. I won't be going back there anytime soon! read more

Yeah, this place is pretty solid. Egg roles were enormous. Definitely a good buy. Crab Rangoon was done with scallions mixed in with the cream cheese... just be aware if you order them. First time I've had them prepared that way, but I have to say it gave it really nice flavor. For the main course, General Tso was pretty decent. Made with dark meat so some of the pieces were very fatty and had a weird consistency, but the overall flavor was good. Very sticky sauce. The lo-mein was on point. Very good dish. Decor was typical for a sit down Chinese restaurant. This isn't a fast food Panda Express joint, this is more of your upscale place. Overall, good experience and we would return... only thing I would hangs would be to ask for the General Tso with white meat next time (if they would do it... not sure). Took my wife there for her birthday several days ago. My firs impression was not great; the place looked big and fancy with lots of staff and even the "Chef" walking around. My personal, critical thinking went right to it being more show than substance; I'm a mom & pop kinda guy. Well, we were shown a table promptly and a wait person brought menus, got us drinks in quick time. Our drinks were excellent, the wait person was friendly. When we asked her about something we were interested in, on the menu, she was frank and honest and said she had not served it and didn't really know our answer, but she would get back to us. She was back in a flash with someone who may have been a manager or owner, and we got our answer! That was totally better than winging an answer, in my book. Our fried oyster app was stellar and the roaming Chef checked in on us to see how we liked it. Our meal was a huge assortment of sushi, fancy rolls and sashimi. It all looked so fresh and the presentation was fantastic! The flavors were great and we enjoyed every bite. I would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone. read more

First time ordering from here as I'm new to the area. They have a wide selection of Asian Fusion favorites and are reasonably priced. We ordered takeout on a busy Friday night and the food was ready early- amazing ! Staff was extremely polite and a gentleman in Chef's coat was going from table to table making sure everyone had what they needed. He even came to the door to greet the takeout customers. It was excellent. It was a Friday night, first night out for my mom in awhile. Only seating available was at the bar... she got up on the barstool, ordered a Manhattan, ate like she was eating for two and the owner ( who was TERRIFIC) bought her an after dinner drink. Worth a look if you're in the area. Definitely the best of the few sushi places in Shelton *****I have eaten here for a minimum of once a week. According to my bank account I've spent almost $980 this year at this restaurant. Today will be my last day. I usually have a bit of Panko dropped on top of my rolls. I ordered a lunch box special. the rice tasted old and the vegetables tasted like they came from a microwave meal. the steak was good, but the rest of the meal was subpar. Went here on a Saturday for lunch with a small group of friends and I was pleasantly surprised. Quick, friendly, attentive service. Order the pork gyoza which cooked to perfection and very tasty. Next I ordered the General Tso chicken lunch special which came with a choice of soup, four pieces of a California roll, two shrimp dumplings, and fried rice. First of all it was delicious from top to bottom and it was the perfect amount. I wasn't overwhelmed by any portion of the meal but left a feeling of looking forward to my next visit. Not too many good asian food options in Connecticut. Usually I stay away from Asian restaurants that serve all kinds of different cuisines. If I want Chinese I'll go to a Chinese restaurant, if I want Japanese or sushi I'll go to a Japanese restaurant. This place has great food all around. Just ordered in take out for the first time. I made a few substitutions because of an allergy and they were super accommodating, something that goes a long way when you deal with the allergy conversation and limitations everyday. The food:sushi was fantastic. Everything was fresh and the sushi pieces had some delicious sauces/touches they added. Pieces can always be larger - but these were pretty good. Shrimp pad Thai unfortunately lacked flavor. I forgot to ask for hot pepper sauce or chili powder, but either way the dish needed more bang/flavor. Shrimp were a nice size though and super fresh. Need to try another gluten free cooked dish again - sushi 5 stars, pad Thai 2 stars, service 6 stars. I'll order again. read more

Great Asian fusion! The sushi was delicious, the specials are fresh, great service and really good food. The sushi rice and rice for the poke bowel is strongly seasoned and can be a little one note, but combines well with all of the flavors. I'm excited to go back and try everything on the menu! I stumbled upon this place and fell in love with the joint. Larry the owner is always there making sure everything is up to his high standard. The resto is well appointed and the service is top notch. You can tell a well run place by the attitudes of the servers. It is a happy place. I sat at the bar by the entrance and almost every person leaving was a regular and comented on how good their meal was. The food is 5 Star. If I could give it a 10 I would. Make sure you ask Larry what the specials are. I am not a Tofu Guy but their silken Tofu is crazy good. All the dumplings are home made. The special vegetable dish was Pea Pod Greens sautéed in garlic and oil. Simple and flavorful. Larry's Drunkin Noodles were fantastic with flavored Wide Chow Fun style rice noodles, fresh sautéed vegatables and ample amounts of large shrimp, chicken, beef and pork all covered with Larry's special sauce. I went the next day for lunch and tried the sushi. It was excellent. All in all a great dining experience all the way around. Also the prices were an excellent value.
