Red Lotus was waking distance from my hotel so I thought it was worth a shot. It wasn't bad but there isn't anything that's particularly noteworthy. I know Shelton isn't right on the coast but this is the second sushi place I went to and the fish wasn't anything special. I got one of the sashimi dinners. Presentation was great. Quality wasn't bad but it wasn't great. If someone else wanted to go I wouldn't give it the veto but I won't make a point to go back next time I'm in the area. read more

Great sushi place that offers an intimate atmosphere though the circle booths are a bit constricting if you have mobility issues. The place was a bit busy during a regular weekday lunch which attest to their popularity and how delicious they are! The portions are decent and the place is kept very clean. The interior is absolutely beautiful and the service really good. This is a nice place. Because of certain food allergies I could not partake as much as I would have liked at this place but I sampled their yummy rolls and they are melt in your mouth good. I also have tried a few of their soups which are also good. I can't get over the service and how many times they check on you. They also do not hover. They just want to make sure you have a good meal. This is a lovely place that I think people would enjoy. read more

The food is very good, menu items are a little different from the norm but also offers familiar flavors and tastes. I recently tried them mainly because I saw they offered curbside pickup and walking has been a bit of a challenge lately. Excellent and upscale. Reminded me of the Asian fusion places around Westport. The new owners did a stunning job redecorating. I'll have to admit I was never drawn to return as I thought it was still the old school, family style Asian place that had been in this same location for years. Boy was I wrong and what time I wasted by not trying Red Lotus. Great wine list, bar area and many inventive dishes from which to choose. I asked for a custom dish of eggplant and veggies in a black bean sauce and it was excellent. When I return, I'll start making my way around the creative menu. read more

Fantastic! I was traveling for work and looking for a convenient and healthy dinner. I found Red Lotus and very glad I did. I ordered the 15pc Sashimi dinner and it was fantastic! Sushi Chef Jason did an amazing job. The Sashimi and Sushi roll was fresh and properly prepared. (The picture only tells 1/2 a thousand words! Had the Sunshine Lobster Roll and Pork Belly Sliders this time. Absolutely blown away by the complex flavors. The roll came with three sauces, mango, , and Wasabi. This is like one of the few Asian spots near me that is actually doing indoor dinning right now. I went out for a nice dinner for 2 on a weeknight. Although reservations aren't required they are accepting them. This place is like a hidden jewel in a plaza! I mean ample parking right now for sure! The restaurant is beautiful!!! Big huge round booths and really shiny and fancy chop sticks! Yup, that's right no broken wood sticks but metal ones! I felt so official haha!! I loveeeeeeeddd the wait staff. We had Erica and even though she just started she made sure to help make our first visit was a pleasure! The staff interacts, recommends food and gives you plenty of time to chat with your friends but are on the sidelines waiting on your every need! Now, onto the fooood!! YUMM I love everything I had lol!! This is an Asian fusion spot so the best of the best just came together. I never had the duck & steamed buns combo so we decided to try something new. They are called duck sliders and lemme tell you the sauce is sweet, the duck is savory and the softness of the bun its just all delicious !! Try it!! I had the Koi spicy salad too nice big portion!! Our rolls speak for themselves ! Fish was fresh! And the presentation on the plates just so beautiful! The staff even made me a nice lychee martini though it wasn't on the menu... We arrived about 10 minutes after opening on a Friday- upon walking in, we were greeted by a woman who was vacuuming. It was a little weird to be sitting down to eat with someone vacuuming around you. Not a deal breaker, just odd. Our waitress was very sulky, maybe she was having a bad day? That happens, but I don't think we saw her smile once, which can make you feel uncomfortable. I had also asked her about what my sushi was wrapped in, because I had never seen that "pink wrapping" before- she seemed a little defensive about it and replied with, "Oh...well...that's always like that." My husband had to tell her we weren't upset, just curious. She didn't know what it was and had to go ask someone else. It was soy paper. The food itself was pretty average. I really enjoyed my sushi roll, The Red Lotus Roll- lots of good flavor in there. My seaweed salad was good, spicy. My husband said his salmon avocado roll was good and felt like the miso soup and fried rice was really bland- and it was. The veggie dumplings were basic. The vibe of the restaurant was pretty cool, modern, gives you the impression that it's a fine dining place- although we dressed casually and didn't feel under-dressed. I have been a longtime customer of this fine dining establishment and I have nothing but praise for the quality of the fresh food and excellent service we've come to expect from Larry and his staff at Red Lotus. On tonight's visit, I sampled the pan-fried pork gyoza (best I've ever had) and the spicy Korean pepper beef (superb)! If spice is not your thing, definitely try the Szechuan crispy beef. The sushi here is also excellent, my favorites are the Spicy girl roll and Shelton Tri-Color roll. Be sure to ask for the best/friendliest staff around, Ariana (bartender) and Tony (server)! The food here at Red Lotus was pretty good. I wasn't sure what to expect, but with reviews like this place has, I wanted excellence. The food I ate here was great, in this case, a coconut curry. I was pleased with the consistency, the flavor profile, sweet and yet spicy, and the quality of the whole plate. It was hot, and came quickly. What really ended the night well, was sitting at the bar having a conversation with the owner and his wife, exceptionally nice people. I've been here numerous times and they never disappoint. Atmosphere: very relaxed with nice booths and tables. If you go during lunch time you'll see a lot of the corporate employees from the headquarters around town. The tables are lit with tea lights and flowers. Very nice touch. Customer service: always excellent! One time the owner came out to greet us and ask how our meal was. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and help. I love that! The waitresses/waiters are always around to help with any necessities, but aren't overbearing. Food: Delish! I've gotten so many different dishes from this place from these cream-stuffed jalapeño bits for appetizers to their udon. They have special menus every time I go in there with something new. We couldn't be more pleased with the amazing staff, and inviting environment from owners Larry and Nia. We had a special opportunity to be taken care of by Larry due to it being so busy by the time we got there Saturday night. Our meal consisted of a salmon sashimi, pork spare ribs, duck sliders, and a speciality roll. The preparation, quality of ingredients, and taste were all exceptional. Some of the dishes are very good and some are just OK on the negative side their ribs are not to tasteful plus I have a lot of fat in them.
