Wowww, who remembers the self-serve frozen yogurt trend in the early 2010s? Froyo shops used to pop up left and right during those times... and now so many have closed down. I've always been a sucker for this frozen treat, so I'm glad Red Mango is still around. This location is in an Edgewater shopping plaza. I came by on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy! They have a decent amount of tables and seating inside. Other than froyo, they also serve juices, smoothies, power bowls, and coffee. They have 6 froyo machines with 12 different flavors - a mix of sweet, nutty, tarty, and fruity. There aren't any nutrition facts posted on the machines, so be mindful of dietary restrictions/allergies. You can ask the staff for sample cups. It's all self-serve so you choose your cup, pick your flavors, dispense the handle, and swirl away. Then you can add on as many toppings as you want at the counter. There's nuts, candies, fruits, cookies, sauces, etc. They charge you $0.89 per ounce so it's really easy to rack up $$$. I got the Creamy Taro and Original flavors with strawberries, gummy bears, and mochi. The froyo texture was just right - not too icy and not too watery. It had a smooth, soft-serve like texture. The flavors were true to their names and tasted exactly how they're supposed to. The original was tarty and tangy, just how I like it. My cup was about $9. Service could have been a bit better. There were two employees at the time. They didn't greet customers or tend to them at the machines. The line was moving a bit slow since one girl was working the register and making drink/bowl orders at the same time. Some of the toppings at the counter needed to be refilled. I'm not sure why frozen yogurt stores have been fast disappearing!! Red Mango remains a favorite and a resilient legend for choosing to stay. The flavors are delicious and do rotate seasonally so it's always something different and fun. My only reason for deducting a star is because one flavor I got ended up being kinda less cold and slightly runny. My other flavor, pistachio, however, was super rich and delicious. Lower calories and fat than ice cream, and just as enjoyable. I love the options of choosing my own toppings, which many yogurt places no longer offer. I honestly cannot believe what I saw at Red Mango. This was easily one of the most disgusting and unsanitary experiences I've ever had at any food establishment. Right where the strawberry yogurt machine is, there were ANTS crawling all over the trays. Not just one or two but multiple ants visibly moving around the machine where people are supposed to be serving themselves food. It was absolutely DISGUSTING. This is a serious health concern.I immediately lost my appetite and walked out. I would strongly recommend that nobody come to this store unless they want to risk eating in an unsanitary environment. I've been here twice in the last two weeks for the froyo. I cannot comment on the protein shakes or the açai bowls, as I have not had them yet. My husband has gotten protein shakes and says they are solid. We went to another yogurt spot close by in Edgewater, and they were totally lacking in flavors, so we decided to visit red mango. We are so glad we did! They have totally upped their game with the amount of flavors and quality of FroYo. Usually I get their standard tart flavor, but saw that they had a taro flavor and OMG, it is freaking fantastic! I love all the different toppings you can add to the top of your froyo and they are always changing froyo flavors. I truly hope they give taro a permanent spot and it is not a rotating flavor!! The staff is always kind and ready to help. It's very clean and a good vibe. I saw another person's review commenting on the staff using the same gloves to touch money, after preparing shakes and bowls. I have seen that myself on more than one occasion, and I do think it is something that needs to be addressed. I don't think it's intentional or unique to red mango (happens at other places as well), but better practices do need to be put in place for the health of the consumer. Today was my first visit ! Parking w was ample and readily available. The store was clean. You could tell that they were just putting together items. I was helped by Samantha. She was great and informing me of my options. What to look for the juices and the condiments she was also able to tell me if I wanted to substitute items or add protein, energy or Chia seeds I will be visiting again. I love frozen yogurt. When I'm near Red Mango, one of my favorite toppings I love to have are the plain mochi. Frozen yogurt is delicious. I like to pick the original flavor, a little of the mango flavor, then pomegranate. Original flavor usually takes over, and I pick a lot of mochi to cover the top. With the small bits of mango and the mango Boba, it's just enough to give it a little juiciness. Red Mango has good service. It can come as a hit or miss depending on who you have or the time you come in. I'm just here for the froyo to dine in. If you come to Red Mango, open up a rewards card. You never know if you have a reward when the cashier looks up your account. Since covid is still going on, I don't think there's an option for taste testing. Double check with the cashier. my friend and I went to get açaí bowls at 1 PM on the 22nd of May. When I asked for a coconut base the short girl working asked me to confirm for coconut base and I said yes and then she just put coconut flakes in the base??? I also asked for protein and it was simply mixed in and left chunky. The people working here are not particularly nice but I'm not too bothered by this. What bothers me is that one of the workers smokes directly outside the door so you have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to get into the store. Also, I am slightly bothered that they charge for the weight of the spoon. I know it's probably like 50 cents but it's such a small detail that irks me. I really like froyo and I hope this place stays open because it really is the best for flavor. I honestly didn't know what kind of store this was before walking in. I thought it was a health food deli/salad bar type place. Looks like it is more of a frozen yogurt shop that also has smoothies/juices/acai bowls. It is a clean shop so credit to the staff. Made it very welcoming. I tried the pink bowl and it was fresh and delicious. Loved it. The frozen yogurt looked good and the topping station was clean and put together. Can't stand when the toppings are all over. Got $5 reward and decided to swing by since I was in the hood. It was a nice evening and there were some people sitting outside. There were some small tables and couches inside the store as well. Lots of flavors to choose from and loved how Red Mango includes the calorie information for each flavor. Decided on taro, mango and coconut which were my favorites. This was the first time trying any Red Mango. My clients wanted something from here so gave it a try. When I arrived I found parking in the large plaza. I walked in and was served by a really nice young lady. All the young ladies were great from beginning to end. I ordered several things for my clients and the banana and peanut butter smoothie with almond milk and dairy free coffee frozen yogurt with some toppings for myself. The total for everything was a little over $70. I didn't want to take my stuff yet so the ladies were nice enough to hold my stuff for me until I returned which was so nice. When I returned I tried my smoothie and didn't like it. I asked one of the ladies if she could put the peanut butter cup in to make it better and she offered to make it over which was very nice. The peanut butter cup made it slightly better but still not great. I didn't love the smoothie but I did like the frozen yogurt. Low and behold when I went I to order my smoothie the employee who was training two other girls that day was super cruel to them. She didn't have ethical training skills, she spoke down to them and even grabbed their hand to push them away if they did something wrong. Don't know her name but she wore glasses had a striped shirt and arm tattoos. It was super distasteful to hear and watch her actions. Not only is that not a professional way to go about training..its is also NOT how you want customers to see you! It's best to train during down hours or before and after business hours(ive worked in a smoothie place years ago). I waited 20 mins for my smoothie that could have been avoided. However while waiting for my coffee order to be completed I saw one of the workers making a smoothie order and grabbing the ingredients and putting them into the machine with her bare hands.
