There are more gluten free options than I have seen in this area which is also nice. Prices are moderate to high. Attended the Grand Opening event. First time trying it out and I was so glad I did. The wait outside was worth it. I was one of the first 10 people inside and was able to get a VIP bag with some great goodies. I ordered the Steak bowl and it was amazing. The steak was tender and the rice, broccolini and salad complimented the flavors well. The lemonade was also really good, I can't wait to go back. The chocolate chip cookie was good too. The location is very nice, the decor is so inviting. They have different options for seating, there are tables, bar stools and even tiered style seating with cushions on the benches. First impressions - amazing! I attended the Grand Opening today - I waited for 2 hours, but it was worth it! During the 2 hours wait, the staff came out and offered us freezer pops (it was pretty hot today) and bottled water. I really appreciated that. The first 100 customers received goodie tote bags - I was in the latter group of customers, so I received: - branded tote bag - bag of coffee - chocolate chip cookie - $15 Alfalfa gift card I ordered (to-go): - Chorizo Breakfast Burrito: this was extremely tasty, and huge (I only ate half today). What really stood out was the homemade avocado tomatillo salsa and spicy salsa roja. - Custom salad with: the Alfalfa mix (includes organic romaine, organic kale and butter lettuce), corn, roasted broccoli, roasted beets, basmati rice, red & green cabbage crunch, and Miso Maple Organic Tofu. Whoever made the batch of homemade chorizo today is trying to kill everyone, it was SO spicy. Imagine eating a fire bomb for breakfast. That being said, the chorizo burrito is delicious and very filling--I took half to go. The strawberry shortcake smoothie is also a big win for me, it's made with coconut yogurt and unsweetened almond milk. Gone are the days of driving to Hoboken and looking parking just to get a salad from Alfalfa. I have been waiting impatiently for this location to open up and there's a parking lot which is a plus. The area needed a good spot to pick up a salad because why can't we get a good salad in the area? Stopped in recently after the hype and the vibe inside was so cute. It is different from the others. I loved the earth tone decor and the seating. Luckily I knew what I wanted. While I typically get a salad, on this day I wanted a wrap. I got the Laguna wrap with a gluten free wrap with Peruvian chicken. It was hearty with all of the flavors I love from my favorite salad. I wish the wrap was a little cheaper as I felt like you get more for your buck with the salad as they are priced the same. So on my next visit I will probably go back to my usual salad. Overall, Alfalfa's salads are fresh with a variety of toppings for them that make the salads all the more enticing. It must have taken a lot of work to turn that old dingy, greasy bagel shop into a bright and airy modern restaurant like Alfalfa. But I'm glad they did. We stopped in for a late Friday lunch, and were lucky to get a table outside. The menu consists of salads & wraps, with add-ons and customization's. Something for everyone. We got the Peruvian Aji Chicken Salad & Poblano Canyon Chicken Plate. I ordered at the counter, paid and then received a little sign for the table. Within no time, our order arrived. The food was so good and so fresh. My wife was so impressed, she went inside and picked out 3 sweet treats. Lemon Thyme Donut and the Brownie with a Peanut Butter Spread were superb. However, the Chocolate Chip Cookie needed a re-tooling. Was very grainy and a bit gritty. Extra praise for the attentive and friendly staff. Grubhub accidentally delivered the wrong bag, and although it wasn't the restaurant's fault, the team at Alfalfa went above and beyond to make things right. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern for their customers is amazing. So a funny thing happened first time I order from Alfalfa, via GrubHub... The wrong order was picked up by the driver, so we received an order that was for someone else. Needless to say, a phone call followed and a very nice employee assisted, who was able to get the food to us, along with compensation, very very much appreciated. Now for the food review..., the meals were both awesome! My wife is vegan and I'm not, so needless to say, 2 different foods and both hit home-runs! I was excited to try this place and appreciate their prioritization of local, whole food, and organic ingredients. I created a customized bowl with black beans, forbidden rice, sweet potato, and broccoli. The miso maple sauce was delicious and saved the dish because the rice and sweet potato were very dry. The broccoli was borderline burnt. My main issue was how little the portion was, the price was great but it was a sample size bowl...I was not full at all afterward. I don't like leaving bad reviews and I hope that this will help them refine as a new business. read more
