I have been to Sage Spa twice, and both experiences were absolutely amazing. I had prenatal massages by Zoe and Kira. I am 32 weeks pregnant and plagued with terrible muscle/join aches. Both therapists were able to put me into the most relaxed state of mind. The tables are equipped with pillows which support you in all the right places. At first I was nervous that I would be uncomfortable, but it was exactly the opposite, I was completely comfortable and relaxed. It felt wonderful! I have had several massages before and none can compare to the ones I received at Sage. The therapists are duly trained and know exactly how to apply just the right amount of pressure. After each massage, I felt like a new person, except that I was upset because I didn't want the massage to end! I wish I could give this spa 10 stars! Highly recommended for prenatal, especially in the third trimester. read more

I was able to book a prenatal massage the same day (within an hour!) on a week day. The boutique spa is serene and very homey. The massage was very relaxing. My massage therapist was very knowledgeable about prenatal needs, and even sent me home with handouts about how to lay out pillows for a better sleep. I can't wait to go back for another massage! She was attentive, asking me areas to concentrate on, how I liked my pressure, etc. but when it came to the actual massage, I can't say I was too impressed nor was my body feeling more relaxed or less tense afterwards. I came in with tightness in my neck and a headache and i left feeling like a brand new person. I would call this place a massage parlor, not a spa. We arrived 3 minutes late for our massages today and were rushed into our appointments. The massages themselves were good but nothing about this place says "spa". There is no shower and no changing room. So after you are covered head-to-toe in massage oil, you don't get to wash it off. It was 90 degrees today and walking around covered in oil post-massage was not comfortable. Additionally, I think there must be a cat or some other allergen in the space because my friend, who is allergic to cats, had a terrible allergic reaction while there (and my other friend spotted what looked like cat litter in the non-working bathtub in the only bathroom). So while I would recommend the massages themselves, the experience is not at all spa-like or relaxing. I've gotten massages at many different places (in Manhattan, Brooklyn and outside of the state) and this was the worst facility I've been to. read more

I literally can't get enough of this place . I try to come with my boyfriend at least once a month . I normally get the deep tissue or anti Stress massage and he gets the facials and or a massage . I never get the same masseuse and I've never been let down ! I don't like to be gently rubbed ,I like to get my knots out and relive my muscles. This place is legit and clean ! I've never been to a spa before but my recent wedding planning left me stressed so I decided to look up a spa to get a massage the day before my reception. I found Sage online and was at first hesitant to try something new but thought Sage looked great. I pulled the trigger and made the appointment. After I was buzzed in I was greeted immediately and made to feel very welcomed. After filling out a quick form, I was asked to choose a scent for my massage and landed on spearmint. I was soon called into a room by my message therapist, Lauren. The room was dark and soothing music was playing. After chatting for a few minutes the massage started. I wasn't sure if she would be talking to me the entire time, or just let me be. She was quiet for the majority of the time and let me relax and enjoy the experience. I chose the 30 minute massage because I couldn't imagine laying still for one hour and not being bored. The 30 minutes flew by rather quickly, and the 15 minute sinus massage I added on went by quicker. Next time I will probably go with the 60. After the massage was over Lauren told me to take all of the time I needed in the room. For fear I would probably fall asleep if I was left alone, I quickly got up and left. The atmosphere in this place is unbelievably relaxing. It's very warm and inviting, and it's hard to leave. The same could be said about the staff as well. I would definitely go back to Sage in the future. read more

Sometimes they have specials (check their website) for packages but the regular prices are reasonable given the quality of the service. Relaxing ambiance. It's always nice in here. You know that "Calgon, take me away" commercial? I feel like the lady in the bathtub when I'm at Sage. I like that they have classical music on the iPod when I have my massage, and that I can choose from five different aromatherapy options, and that despite being so Zen and healthy they have a bowl of JellyBelly jellybeans in the reception/waiting room. After my massage I take a handful and enjoy them on the walk home, savoring each jelly bean's yummy manmade flavor explosion, eating them one at a time because I am so relaxed. read more

Sage spa has been a place of salvation for me after having my daughter. Specifically, Noriko is the healer I aim to see every time I can return. She is beyond intuitive and skilled- even though she asks, I rarely have to tell her what is troubling me bec she is master masseuse. I like Sage for straight-forward, better than average deep-tissue massage. I don't know if I'd go for the "spa experience" per se. But it is a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. It's almost impossible for me to rave enough about this place. If you are willing to enjoy a cozy, but humble waiting area, and forgo some of the "traditional" niceties of a fancy spa (steam/sauna, shower, robes, etc) in exchange for a truly therapeutic massage (which I am), this is definitely the place for you. The entrance is slightly hidden, but walk up the staircase to the warm waiting area to a friendly reception of tea. The massage rooms are comfortable and clean, with soft lighting and heated tables, offering your choice of aromatherapy. But, what you really show up for? The massage. Noriko is one of the best massage therapists I've ever visited. She takes the time to listen to your body- not only in a brief question session before each massage, but intuitively as she's working through your muscles. Her massage is never exactly the same week by week, she spends the time needed on each knot and sore spot, in order to restore balance to your body. She's a wonder. (As a side note, I've also had massages with Agnes who is also an extremely talented massage therapist, who I recommend if Noriko isn't available) I did have one "emergency" massage on a weekend once with a male therapist, whose name I don't recall, and I wouldn't recommend. But, seriously, do yourself a favor and see Noriko. I promise you won't regret it. read more

A massage should be a partnership between client and massage therapist. I can't say that my massage therapist had much connection; didn't ask how pressure was, even when I squirmed on certain areas. In other areas, pressure was way light as if the therapist was tentative or new. The relentless gong groaning in the background was rather annoying and while the big room is lovely, the hall smelled like cat. I relayed my dismay to the receptionist and she said the owner would call me the next day, but she didn't. I used to be a Sage customer a while ago when I went to that side of town. I have used this spa for a number of years and have always found their services wonderful. The masseurs are very professional, and ask carefully about any medical issues that need to be taken into account during the massage. The oils, which you get to choose, smell light and refreshing. The rooms are clean, tidy and nicely decorated to be soothing. Best of all, I always feel like a million dollars afterwards--relaxed, cheerful and more flexible than before. I also appreciate the fact that those at the desk are very upfront about the fees and tips--something that has intimidated me at other spas. in short, I'm so glad this place is in my neighborhood. read more

Came in from cali and a frined booked me an appointment. Was not pleased with fhe tiny space and dusty lamps. It felt like i was I was someones l home and not a place of business. So it was uncomfortable like someone would walk out in there pj's. Also, there is a cat which walks around. I am allergic to cats which is why i left. I was very displeased with this place. I bought my pregnant best friend a gift certificate for an hour massage. she received a call confirming the appointment and asking to not be late. After diving her there for over an hour, to insure she comes on time we get there and they said i did not pay for the gift certificate.
