First time visiting Element Healing. I think I found my long term massage place. Was recommended by a classmate. Been in a much needed massage. Tippy was the warmest, kind hearted person during my massage. Asking me how the massage will benefit me and if I had any injuries. I truly felt Tippy really listened and care. Her approach was gentle as I had requested due to the pain I have. Tippy focused on certain areas on my back using aromatherapy oils and heat. It was the most relaxing experience I've have felt in such a long time. I fell asleep and woke up feeling relaxed. Highly recommend Tippy and definitely Element Healing. Thank you. read more

I've been getting massages at Element every once in a while since I moved to the area three years ago, and I've always had an amazing experience. The receptionists are friendly, my appointments always start on time, and the facilities are very clean. I've had one-off appointments with a couple of people (who were great) but all my other appointments have been with my favorite massage therapist, Noriko. I find her very calming and her techniques have been the most effective for me (I seek massage therapy primarily for anxiety and problems from an old leg and knee injury). read more

I've been here several times in the last few years and realized that I never wrote a review. Today, I had a hot stone massage given by Jean. What I like about this spa is that it is quietly tucked away on the corner of Henry Street, but once you step inside and continue to the massage/treatment rooms, there is no lack of amenities. The staff is extremely helpful and there are various items for purchase such as essential oils, supplements and candles The décor is lovely with the massage rooms being impeccably clean and Zen like. I'm a person who always welcomes warmth and the massage room was toasty warm as well as the massage table itself. But it was Jean who allowed me to have such a fantastic experience today. I had a 60 minute hot stone massage and I have to say that it was one of the best massages I have had in a long time. Her hands were like gold and combined with the hot stones, I felt so relaxed with the right amount of pressure applied. Fantastic. I was dismayed to learn that she's not at Element often. She's just that good. I'm sure the other therapists are fine, but I really felt connected to Jean's aura and vibe. She's terrific all around. Two stars for cleanliness and politeness. I booked a regular massage. Upon arrival I said my lower back was tight and that I had tightness from stress. What I recieved was poking in my back via fingers and fist. I asked for a rubbing massage and was told that I'd be receiving more of a pressure point massage. I arrived and left with a tight lower back and no relaxing massage. The front desk charged the credit card on file without my consent and I was told that they don't give any email or printed receipts unless requested. I will not be returning. read more

It is a very relaxing and beautiful spa tucked into the heart of Carroll Gardens. The staff are nice and I've had massages from Raquel and Casey who were both fantastic. I have a few routines when I fly into NYC for work. I stay in Brooklyn most of the time, and when I do, I have to go to the bakery, then come to get a massage here! I had the best massage therapist, I wished I remembered her name, sweet petite Asian gal ( I can say this since I am Asian:) She was so strong and listened to my needs as well. Awesome! One of the best massages i've had in a while. The venue is an old bank so some massages are done down stairs in what used to be an old bank vault (cool) and some are upstairs in old management offices (less cool) My massage therapist was extremely knowledgable and knew exactly what he was doing. I run often and put a lot of stress on my body so when I get a massage I like a lot of pressure in my deep tissue. Some studios the therapist pretend to listen and then just go on with the same massage they give everyone but this one was truly tailored to my specific request. while the pricing is more on par with a "spa" and this is more a body therapy experience I highly recommend. read more

This place is such a gem of the neighborhood and I feel so fortunate to have access to the practitioners right around the corner from where I live. I've been seeing Catherine for acupuncture for over a year now and she is so insightful, always offering new ideas and is a calming, patient and kind health resource. I've also done lots of massage and truly have never had a bad experience, though of course enjoyed certain therapists more particularly. I love Element! Everyone that works there is so kind and helpful. I went there seeking help trying to conceive as I was having issues. I met Christina and had the best experience. Through acupuncture massage and support I felt so taken care of and did go on to have a great pregnancy and birth experience. I also have had great massages from Raquel. Massage therapists here are incredible. All of the staff are. However, a few months ago I booked a massage thinking of course the staff will be vaccinated. They are in a small room for an hour in close contact. But just to be sure, I called to confirm. The receptionist told me she could not tell me for privacy reasons but she would ask permission from the therapist. I received a call back and was told that no she was not vaccinated. I asked to see someone who was (which was an incredible massage). But it disturbed me that they didn't inform me ahead of time that my therapist was not going to be vaccinated. Seems like something you'd want to consent to. Fast forward a few months, I figure, that was earlier vaccine days, before mandates in restaurants and other institutions, I'll give a pass. But I just wrote to ask whether their staff are required to be vaccinated and the answer is no. So for those of you who that matters to, I thought you might want to know. read more

My sister and I was trying to surprise my mom on her bday April 24th by setting up an appointment for a massage. We took an Uber there and on our way there we were hit with so much blocking off streets and traffic. Turns out there's a marathon!! What was suppose to be a 20 minute ride was looking longer. We called to give them this surprising turn of events that we will be late. They told us how long they can wait for us. I appreciated that part. But when we called them back to say it looks like we are paused in this maze of traffic can we reschedule; we were told no we will be put as cancelled and have to pay half of the fees! REALLLY CANCELLED! And then to say we took up masseurs' time when they could had an open slot. The fact they had no empathy or compassion to understand but to choose to believe the worst as in us neglecting our appointment. We asked can we come in to speak to someone and we were told no they don't have someone. read more

This is a great, local massage group. I have had several massages over the years - some deep tissue, some more for relaxation. The deep tissue with Andrew was fantastic. He had experience working with athletes and knew how much pressure I could take. Another woman I worked with there was tentative, no matter what I said. I think she may have been afraid to really dig since I'm fairly small. All around good, peaceful, respectful vibes. Excellent prices for the service level. I have been going to Element for 5 years for one hour massages. They always had detail oriented and pleasant customer service, and professional, meticulous masseuses. I've noticed in the past year, that their staff has changed and the front desk hasn't been quite as on top of things. I recently booked for a specific therapist and arrived to find I was assigned someone else. Same thing happened to my husband in May. On 4 occasions they were 15-20 minutes late. I expect that at a salon or doctor's office but not at a spa. As far as the actual massages, I dont understand the inconsistencies. 60% of the time I receive amazing on-point massages, 40% of the time it's surprisingly below par and mediocre. A recent masseuse was over 15 minutes late and the massage felt rushed through most of it. She asked if I had any concerns so I told her my neck and shoulder area were tight and to go deeper if I needed it. The massage consisted of alot of light rubbing and some weak finger pressure on areas that weren't really muscle tension points. when I asked her to tone down the amount of oil she was using she didn't and said she would wipe it off with a hot towel at the end. At one point she used a hot towel to rub my cheeks, nose, chin and I stopped her because it was uncomfortable and not relaxing. We've talked specifics to the manager before, who was very apologetic but when not so insignificant issues kept happening, we felt bringing up concerns to them didn't seem to improve our experiences there. read more

Had my first ever massage today at Element( I know I can't believe it either, lol). As I entered Element I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who offered me tea or water, nice. After filling out the paperwork, Oyama came out, introduced himself, and we were off to my massage room.I was a bit apprehensive, it being my first massage and all, but after having a brief talk with Oyama, explaining to him, my history,my massage began. Oh what a massage! It was as if Oyama knew exactly where the tension and problem areas were in my body, and focused on them. The music was soothing, but I tend to talk a bit too much, lol, so I couldn't tell you what was playing, it was nice music though..I want to thank Oyama for the wonderful massage, being so professional, and making my first massage a wonderful experience. Oh, and by the way, I felt terrific after I left, no tension in my body at all, and such a relaxed feeling. I definitely will be back. I also want to try Acupuncture and their facials! I see Christina for acupuncture and Lilly for facials, and I highly recommend both. Christina helped me deal with 2 chronic health issues I'd not been able to successfully treat elsewhere. I was referred to her by my general practitioner, who sends many patients her way. I was new to acupuncture, but my doctor highly recommended her. I am so glad I went. Lilly is very good for deep cleaning facials with an emphasis on extractions. Great for acne and also aging skin. She spends your entire session with you - not running back and forth between you and another client, like so many places in town. This isn't the most luxe facial in town, don't get me wrong. No 15 minute massage or aromatherapy or anything. But I don't go for that anyway - I go for the deep cleaning. She also doesn't upsell or push product, although she will recommend treatment add-ons if she thinks you will benefit. I have tried a lot of spa facials in nyc and am sticking with this one, right in my own neighborhood! The spa itself is great - very clean, very soothing atmosphere. The front desk staff are lovely, too, which I always appreciate. I'd like to go back soon to try massage. read more

I've gotten acupuncture, massages and a little cupping done here. And they take some types of insurance. Rebecca took my acupuncture virginity. Who knew being poked with needles could be so relaxing. (Er, maybe drug addicts, I guess.) I fell asleep afterward. Be warned: When you book a massage here, you better show up because they take your credit card info when you book it and they don't take kindly to people who are too late, in general. My complaints: You might expect to see their prices in Manhattan. And they make you take your shoes off, but they are walking around with their shoes on. We loooove massage and have found only one massage therapist in Cobblehill/Carroll Gardens that is top notch in deep tissue (Rob at Area). Wow! Then, both of us tried Element last night. Unbelievably good, great, amazing massages that un-kinked both of our backs and neither of us could stop telling our friends over dinner. I had tweaked my neck in a fall while skiing, and my doctor suggested deep tissue massage. Had heard great things about Element, and decided to give it a try. The receptionist was very helpful. Based on my needs, she identified which therapists had the best experience/training for my injury. Shanti was fantastic. She spent nearly an hour working through my neck and related alignment issues. I had been experience pain and headaches for more than a week. It's been nearly a week now, and I've been pain and headache-free. She was professional, effective, concerned and wonderful! I had one of the best massages of my life with Hal. He was attentive to the areas that I told him needed work, used the right mix of pressure and stretching and basically had me cooing by the end. I'm a bit of a massage snob, I like it simple and without smelly oils or gadgets and Hal was the perfect man for the job. 95 dollars well spent. My complaint? Love this place. Had thrown my back out, lying on the floor not moving for two days and my wife made me an appointment for acupuncture and massage. Both were fantastic, the acupuncture by far the best experience I've ever had with needles. Jeff did a fantastic job and after three visits I had absolutely no problems with my back, nor have I had since. I've had several massages there, unfortunately can't remember anyone's names, but they were all great as well. They have different styles, of course, so you have to be careful along those lines, but I recommend them wholeheartedly. (One caveat: they're not cheap. But I think they're worth the $$$.) read more

amazing! my boyfriend and I went in for a couples massage but both had different needs. I needed a sports massage mixed with deep tissue. He needed deep tissue. I had Jean. She was amazing Very knowledgable and did the right amount of pressure. I like to sleep during my massages but if the pressure felt too much (I would flinch) she would ease up. She didn't continually ask about the pressure, she just knew when it was too much or too little. I had a migraine for two days when I went in and immediately after the massage I felt a TON better. I bodybuilding so my muscles are tense and twisted. She did great! My boyfriend was also extremely pleased and said his message was also a good pressure. If you've never tried acupuncture before, I highly highly recommend it. As someone with lower back issues and consistent tight muscles, it's a wonderful, side-affect free, natural type of pain relief. It was my first time visiting this weekend (snagged a Friday evening appt @ 8:30pm) and I really liked the energy/calmness in the waiting area. The rooms themselves are really clean, beautiful and the table was very comfortable. My back was tight, so I was happy to get treatment (it had been awhile) and I will most definitely be back soon. I really enjoyed my facial here. Is was thorough, my technician was competent and informative. The only thing that bugged me out was that they were supposed to contact me when a certain facial mask was in, but it has been over 3 months and still no word? I recently had an excellent massage here with Cara. I get massages somewhat frequently at cheap places, and at Element, I was reminded how much I miss out on when I make that choice. Cara was so thorough, had an excellent understanding of anatomy and how everything connects and used a bunch of different modalities (deep tissue, zero balancing) to deal with my super tight glutes and lower back. She addressed my chronic pain and also made me feel so relaxed. I highly recommend going here. read more

This place has all the looks and outward attitude of a hip calm highly regarded natural healing oasis. BUT on closer examination, it's really quite unimpressive. After perusing their website and noting they had "acupuncturists in Residence" yes a little pretentious- but oh so impressive! I could not resist taking a long walk down to Carroll Gardens to give this place a try. I enter to the ever so soothing receptionist whose calm voice and Good Energy was absolutely radiating off the place. 20 mins of Paperwork done, okay down to business Unfortunately I made a same day appt, as I was having some harsh carpal tunnel & back spasm pain and needed some acupuncture ASAP. Unfortunately as I think I just got stuck with whoever was available, I was put in the very front room and I saw Greg. I have had acupuncture several times before, so I know good from bad, and this was not very good, Nearly all of the needles hurt ( not normal). What was more annoying was I had to tell this guy 3 times what was wrong with me and he could not even remember what specific area I was referring to every time he came back and forth and entered the room. So onto the room, I got stuck in the Room right at the front of the bldg, Right outside the receptionist area, I heard the screeching Door Buzzer ( allowing people to enter the Bldg) every 5-10 Mins.. So much for my peaceful relaxation, also worse than this was the constant female giggling outside my room, It took me about 10 minutes to figure out it was the damn secretary and My male acupuncturist cavorting with her and making her giggle uncontrollably, every time he left my room. All of this occurred as background to my Overly Loud and Equally obnoxious OHM OHM tribal chants Acupuncture CD playlist. And finally let me mention, as I did several times to my doc, It was hot as hell in the place, I left dizzy from feeling so hot, I jumped in a cab and hightailed back home. I went to Element's today for an organic cleansing facial and absolutely loved it! The spa was pretty and clean. They also have complimentary tea for while you are waiting. I made a same day appointment which was great because with my busy schedule it's hard for me to book in advance. My appointment was with Winter and she was amazing. She is very knowledgeable about all things beauty; from the facial process to the products and even other things such as lash extensions. I loved that she was concerned with how my face felt, from the products and the pressure she was using for extractions, considering I have very sensitive skin. After leaving my face was not irritated at all and felt so smooth. I felt like my skin could breathe again! Definitely will be returning in the near future and suggest you do too! read more

I had a horrific, debilitating migraine last night. My husband desperately called Element (highly recommended by a friend) at 8:30pm and they were kind enough to immediately give me an appointment! Shanti gave me a cranio-whachamacallit (until way-past closing) and it was heavenly. I walked out 75% better and with a smile. Those of you out there who suffer from bad headaches and migraines know how difficult it is to feel better so quickly. In only 1 visit, Element has shown that they truly care. The receptionist was so helpful and very gracious. The spa was super-clean, welcoming and very relaxing. Shanti was exceptional. I cannot wait to return and try more of their services! read more
