This is a great little restaurant, although a little pricey. However, the portion sizes were very good. We had the prime rib tacos and the crispy shrimp appetizer. Kudos to the waitress and the manager, both of whom were great when the sauce on the meat was to spicy for my wife, who cannot tolerate anything spicy. We asked if they could just wash off the sauce but they insisted on cooking a new order! Great service! They are enclosing the current patio for more room and it looks like they are building a new patio. read more

food and drinks were absolutely delicious! however the hostess could use a couple classes in customer service.. didn't even bother to greet us and was quite rude. did not feel welcome at all upon first walking in. otherwise i would definitely recommend this place if you're in the odessa area looking for a contemporary, elevated meal. read more

We ate here on a whim and LOVED it. Great margarita; had the brussel sprouts (yum) and the prime rib sandwich (to die for). The BEST BEST BEST part was the carrot cake - OMG best I have EVER had (sorry Mom) it was so good, I would come back just for a slice to go. The only downs: (1) they had a bar but no amaretto or Reisling (what's that about)? (2) the homemade chips were terrible (and I love those things) because they were made in the morning and sat all day - not crispy but soggy and limp and (3) they "share" a kitchen but my hubby could not get the dessert they served on the "side" because unlike me, he simply does not appreciate a fine carrot cake. i loved the tables, atmosphere and very nice staff. Had lunch many times here, starting to love it more and more everytime. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, since there are only a few tables. I usually start with the crispy rock shrimp, also know as a shrimp tempura. The prime rib is to die for, always cooked to perfection. Only parallels or shall I say tops the Cork and Pig. One of my favorite places to come and eat in the midland/Odessa area. Cappuccinos and lattes are real good. The pizza is made in a wood oven. They definitely have my favorite pizza in town. Awesome nachos, fish tacos and awesome brunch. I just wished they had eggs Benedict. Anyways, this is definitely a good place to come and eat. This place is awesome. Traveling from Detroit, this is exactly what I was hoping for in Texas. A wonderful blend of Texas and Mexican food with a tremendous contemporary feel. We had heard many good comments about this restaurant. Boy, were we disappointed. My wife and I started off with an order of nachos with chicken as an appetizer. A mound of chips covered with some type of processed cheese. If it was cheddar I have never had cheddar cheese that tasted like that. They were also covered with some type of house tangy sauce which actually was not bad. The chicken and black beans were buried under the chips and cheese sauce. Some cilantro and a side of jalapeños were served with them. The chips are good. Not impressive at all. My wife ordered the Mexican burger. While the burger was cooked to order, medium, it was bland and had no flavor. Does this place season their meat? The burger over all was nothing to write home about. I ordered the roast beef tacos. They were awful. The meal is served with almost bite size corn tortillas, the roast beef, black beans and a spicy sauce. You assemble your tacos at the table. The roast beef was served smoothed in some kind of sauce. When meat is served slathered in sauce this is usually a cover up for dry over cooked meat. It was. The beef was like trying to eat leather. The black beans are also very bland. Very disappointing meal. read more

Dinner was fantastic! I had the fish tacos with blackened cod and a glass of petite Syrah. My server, John, was attentive, friendly, and great with recommendations. The wine was excellent as was the fish. I sat on the patio, where the walls were tall enough to hide Odessa and block road noise. If I'm back here for business travel again, I will be back to the Red Oak. read more

The Mexican city enchiladas were great. Perfect portion size too. The cappuccino to end the night wasn't bad either. Great place for the Midland/Odessa area. We need less chains and more restaurants like this and Cork and Pig. read more

Great service. Food was decent, not bad. Tacos are very small, I mean the drink napkin is bigger than the tortilla. The burger was cooked to perfection (ordered it medium) but could not taste the poblano pepper. Limited seating, only came here because did not want to wait for Cork and Pig. read more

This past weekend we traveled from El Paso Texas to Lubbock Texas then to Dallas Texas trying many different restaurants and while making our way back home to El Paso we stopped off in Odessa to have dinner with our kids at the highly recommended Red Oak Kitchen. Upon our attempted arrival we couldn't find the restaurant could it because there was a tree blocking the sign which was only a sign hanging from the side of the building. It wasn't until one of our family members waving us down that we were able to find it. We placed our order of salads, our simple order started taking a while, asked our waitress (who was attentive or very pleasant) for the status of our order. She said there were several orders ahead of ours. I asked her to please cancel our order because ours was nothing that required cooking just throwing some veggies together. Taking into consideration there were only maybe 10 tables full. we had just come from Dallas where restaurants had 10x more the amount of people and our order didn't take any where as long. What a disappointment in town that is up and coming with the oil boom. Our order #was 203. read more

The food was good and better than most options in the area. They do have a bit of a temperature problem though. The Mexico City enchiladas were fine, however I ordered a side of Mac and cheese and it was on the cold side. That was disappointing, but the seating was the worst part of the whole experience. We were a party of 2. We were sat inside on a table next to storage cubbies. Throughout our entire meal staff were reaching into the cubbies over my husband's head for plates, etc. Until one of the employees reaching over actually HIT HIM ON THE HEAD. I get that it was an accident, but it is still so unforgivable. Dining at a restaurant is an experience where I, as a consumer, expect to feel comfortable. I definitely don't want to feel like I'm sitting in a table in the middle of a kitchen with staff running around and reaching over me for items. I would have said something from the beginning if I knew the items in these cubbies were not just for decoration. Once again I understand it was an accident, but that soured the whole experience for me and will probably never return. read more

Soooooooooooo delicious!!! I eat here anytime I can, chicken tacos are fabulous, salads are great, and their so cal pizza was on point. The atmosphere is something special, something you would expect when out of town or in a downtown city, it makes a romantic date night or exciting lunch. The wait staff have always been nice and courteous when we have been. We have tried a few of their beers and bought some wine (called Shout Out) and all have been good. I like that you can stop by here and get a unique wine or beer to take home. I also like that they are already chilled. Their lattes are the best in town, that's saying a lot because I've lived in Seattle area and no coffee I've tried in Odessa has lived up to that standard. These lattes are a little taste of what I miss about my time in the Pacific Northwest. This place is just perfect all around. read more
