Service here is not good, our experience started with standing there and a hostess came up and took us to table then said Nevermind it will be about 15 minutes. Once seated our server took about 15 minutes to come over and she was not very attentive during the duration of our stay. We ordered the chips and tri dip for an appetizer which was good but we only received about 10 chips and were unable to finish even half the dip. When the food finally came out it was absolutely incredible, the chefs know what they are doing here but that's about it. So come here for the food not the service. First time visiting this restaurant while my wife has been here a couple of times with her friends. My wife enjoyed this place while I wasn't too crazy about it. The food is good and the services is great. The only thing I wasn't too pleased with was the food portions and the variety of the menu. I ordered a burger and it was about the same size as a kids meal burger. It was delicious I must add but it is not full filling if that's what you're looking for. Also they don't have fries to go with the burgers which is a bummer in my opinion. It is served with a side of chips. Basically, for 17 dollars, you are paying for a small burger and a handful of chips. You are pretty limited to what you can order as the menu has a small amount of items. Our waiter was super great and very prompt with our food. It is a smaller place so if you happen to go with a bigger crowd it is necessary to call in advance as we did. My experience here was "ok". Athough not the best, it definitely wasn't the worst either. I might come back again but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Here is my experience, upon arriving the hostess seating in the worst table ever. We were right next to the bathrooms and kitchen. It was absolutely horrible. The server was very good though, very attentive and had good recommendations. So, the food..., I have to admit, it was bland, lukewarm and the potatoes were soggy not crisp. The deviled eggs were just ok, the the omelets where bland and not really tasty. The inside was very nice but where we sat was not good. So service 4 out of 5 and food 2 out of 5. First off when you first walk into the place the vibe is up lifting. Brandon was our server and he was 100% awesome. We ordered the rotisserie chicken and the cedar salmon plank everything is made to order and all their food is very fresh they get their food everyday and cut the meat in house the chicken is in this wine sauce that is so delicious I can't even describe it you just have to go and try it (seriously go try it) and the salmon same too delicious to describe. Came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and was by myself. The restaurant wasn't busy, but I had to wait a couple of minutes to be assisted. The restaurant has the indoor seating area (with a bar and bar seating), patio with booths and outdoor seating with sand and umbrellas. I chose to sit on the patio because the indoor section smelled of smoke (I guess from smoking meats), and I didn't want to smell like smoke for the rest of the day. The booth seat was dirty and also weathered with the leather peeling... I just brushed off the crumbs on the seat and went with it. My first server was OK, but then she disappeared and I got a new one who was WAY more attentive - I hope HE got the tip. I ordered the Fried chicken and waffles for my meal as it came highly recommended by a coworker. I was not disappointed! The chicken was well seasoned to the point of being able to see the seasonings in and under the breading. It wasn't greasy and was cooked through but still juicy. It came between two thick pieces of perfect waffles, their own butter and a side of syrup. It was a perfect serving size so I was able to finish my food and not feel stuffed. They tempted me with dessert though - nothing chocolate stood out, so I opted for my next favorite - banana pudding. Here is where they lost 2 stars. That banana pudding is a DISGRACE to every single banana pudding out there - or call it something else! It looks pretty, but banana pudding it is not. The only thing banana on that plate were the slices of banana they used to garnish the plate. Otherwise, It was a wide wedge slice of plain custard with a huge swirl of whipped cream on top, an oatmeal/graham cookie-like crust on the bottom with chocolate chips all around. Honestly, if they had forgotten to garnish the plate with bananas, NOBODY would guess it was supposed to be banana pudding. That part definitely was neither worth the calories nor the $8! read more

Currently on minute 45 of being seated. We arrived at 9:10, they sat us promptly and that was where the quickness stopped. We ordered our drinks at 9:15 and didn't receive them until 9:35. I then had to grab our waiter at 9:45 and request for us to put our order in. A table behind us left after 30 minutes of no drinks. A table in front of us had to request to order their food. 2 table's over drank their mimosas after waiting 24 minutes and then just asked for their check and left. Literally insane. Recently got takeout from Red Oak. We ordered the prime rib quesadilla and the cedar plank salmon. The quesadilla had next to no meat/prime rib on it. Made for an expensive "onion quesadilla", given that's all that we saw on it. The salmon was grossly undercooked (they said they'll cook it medium, it was closer to medium rare). Had to microwave the salmon when we got home to try and salvage it. Hate giving bad reviews, but for over $50, definitely not worth the value. read more

Red oak kitchen Old fashioned Although it was done semi correctly it came out unstirred and with small ice cubes not typical for a restaurant of the caliber they are trying to represent. Kind of a side note but second old fashioned I ordered after finishing the meal the glad came about 30% less full slightly strange. Still I stirred and butters sitting at the top. Filet mignon with vegetables Steak cooked correctly ish (medium instead of medium rare) and vegetables on the basic side they throw a bit of chopped nuts on top to make sure it adds the extra 50% that they charge for it. The place could have been brought out with a steak knife but instead I settle for the regular knife. The squash was seasoned with brown sugar and nuts but could be complemented with butter before serving and cooked a bit less (a bit on the dry side as opposed to nice and creamy like it should be served) Wine: La Posta from Argentina. Not the best to complement the steak but it will do the job. No recommendation was given from the waitress when the steak was ordered but nevertheless I'm here to fill in. Dessert: Waitress recommended banana cream pie. The crust is more like granola. The cream itself is good but the whole plate is a complete 180 from the steak when it comes to presentation. Overall the restaurant has a strange relaxed vibe between a burger joint where you see the tickets in front of the kitchen to jazz music and a decent selection on the menu although it is presented like a bar menu. Might return if I have a work lunch or hopefully give it a second chance. That's all I got. I know it's Odessa but still gotta live up to the standard. read more

Ok ok ok.... I've been all around the county. And I promise. This is the best salad ever!!! I'm so obsessed I almost teared up while chomping it down. An absolutely delicate tuna steak perfectly seasoned and seared paired in a perfectly sesame fusion sauce. Wow wow wow The salad... also incredible. My wife likes their pork chops and believed they might be the best she has ever eaten. Based on my check-ins you can see this has become my home away from home restaurant. It's within walking distance from the hotel and is jam packed every night so make reservations ahead of time. The menu is very limited in size; however, they don't have a freezer so everything is fresh. The only reason Red Oak doesn't get five stars is the creativity of the menu. They serve solid staples but nothing truly innovative. I believe I have tried almost everything on the menu. The crab cakes don't have much filler which is awesome but they don't have a ton of flavor. Prime rib and filet are also good options and reasonably priced at $30 and $35. Their caesar salad is a favorite with homemade croutons and a tangy dressing. Try this with their fantastic deviled eggs. Service is typically very prompt and friendly. Only once did I have an issue with food and they resolved it quickly. read more

Someone tell me what happened with mine? Just one edge had any browning. Im not saying it wasn't medium rare, it was. But just no flavor. It's 90% just red meat. I'm just eating an animal that's been maybe roasted to kill off bacteria with some sauce on the side.
