I've eaten frequently at Red Oak for years. Mainly for lunch. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning in the near future. Their food has always been good in my opinion. Service is ok for Odessa. But the prices have gotten out of control. I understand with certain menu items. But fish tacos!? Yesterday my guest and I received a small 4 oz piece of fish, those mini corn tortillas, beans and rice with unsweet teas. Pretty basic. Our meal was $50 before tip! Too expensive for a few tacos and tea. I'll likely be finding a new lunch spot unfortunately. I can't justify that. read more

Brought my friends from LA to eat with us tonight. Brandon was exceptional as always: friendly, professional & efficient. The drinks were lovely, & tonight's special (The Texas Burger), was crazy good. The real star, however was the banana cream pie, which should be offered year round! As a sister restaurant to CPT, it doesn't surprise me that they are just as good. Red Oak's ambiance and menu is more casual than CPT's but that is perfect if you just want a nice meal to have a relaxing break or easy conversations with friends and family. Went in today with a party of six that turned into a party of 9. As somebody who used to be a waiter, I know what a pain that is. The staff was super accommodating and let us use the table next to us. Our waitress was a trainee, but did a good job keeping up with all of our different orders, seating changes and picky people. The food here is ALWAYS good, but its nice when the front of house is ran with just as much care and consideration for customers. And yes, I tipped extra. Take care of your waitstaff! read more

Great food service and atmosphere. There are several areas to eat that are closed off so there's much less noise than Cork and Pig.

Very similar in many ways to the neighboring restaurant of which is the same company I highly recommend both although my favorite thing was a roasted prime rib on their rotisserie. It was out of this world. I haven't seen it on the menu in a while, and I look forward to seeing it again. read more

This place is awesome. Very cozy upscale feeling. I like the open kitchen and the place was very open & clean. Finally found a place in Odessa/Midland that has a upscale Urban feeling to it. ( It's difficult to find, it's connected to the cork and pig through (sister redtaurant)) Service: the service was great. My food came out about 10 min after I ordered it. (IT'S not busy at lunch right now). Some of my food came out that wasn't very hot and it was instantly replaced within a couple minutes. ( now I got double mash potatoes ). Both the manager and server checked on me multiple timrs. Everyone seem to be busy and productive which is good. Food: I ordered the Prime rib, mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. Everything was good. Not the best I have had ( I have really excpectarions) but for the area it's the best. They even had two IPA on tap which scored extra credit points for me. I enjoyed my meal extremely and eager to come back and try the other dishes. Misc: the prices are kinda of high. But the meal I got was a good portion and high quality. Everything is made from scratch and fresh. I spent about 55 bucks ( I did order the most expensive item on the menu) on a prime dinner/ beer plus a side and dessert. This is my new favorite restaurant - not just for West Texas. I love the atmosphere. The staff is friendly. They have an excellent happy hour with plenty of food and drink options. I had the house salad and the Mexico City Enchiladas with a fried egg on top thanks to Stan C.'s recommendation. They were some of the best enchiladas I have had! A gent sitting next to me had the crab cakes and he raved about them. He said they were all crab and no filler. They looked fantastic. I went back for lunch the next day and tried the nachos. They were WAY to cheesy for me. I also learned you can order a "mini" version of their signature salads which is not on the menu. This place is walking distance from several hotels, and there is plenty of parking. If you are in the area, you should definitely try this place! read more

Rad spot. Pretty impressed to find this in Odessa. Sat at the bar for lunch and our bartender Aryssa was cool and down to earth. The red amber on tap was good. I wasn't a fan of the jalapeño margarita, but was very impressed to see Red Oak make their own sweet sour mix. Red oak has the best whiskey sour in the Permian basin. Order it with Texas Ranger whiskey -it will not disappoint. The trio dip appetizer was decent. Got the New Mexico burger with the butter squash; both were good. I've been to cork and pig multiple times so I thought I'd give this place a shot since it's supposed to be similar. It's definitely a different vibe as where Cork and Pig is more traditional, Red Oak is more trendy. I didn't get a chance to walk around that much but the downstairs is small and has a lot of patio and outdoor seating. I guess most people sit upstairs. The menu selection is a lot smaller than Cork and Pig but the choices are excellent. I had the Pork Chop for lunch and it was delicious and a hefty portion. Also, if you go to the bathroom it'll remind you of being at a club because the music was SOOOOO loud! read more

There's only a handful of great places to eat in Midland/Odessa and this is one of them. Breakfast/brunch is awesome, the fruity pebble French toast...so good! Fish tacos are always a solid lunch choice they usually have mahi mahi for those. Brick oven Pig Pizza is a must, cornbread for an appetizer kind of weird but soooo good. Went to eat here for my birthday and was surprised. We got seated right away and immediately got our drinks. I ordered the pork chop with loaded mashed potatoes and was in awe the pork chop was tender and juicy but yet not undercooked or overcooked. The mashed potatoes were heavenly they were so buttery and fluffy. The waitress somehow found out it was my birthday and gave me a complimentary expresso brownie. The service was impeccable our waitress was superb, she was very kind and attentive, waiting on our hand and foot. Would definitely recommend! This experience is almost a year old so the review may not be too useful now. Hopefully, things have remained as high quality as they were when we visited. Three of us were driving household goods from North Carolina to California last July and had a stopover in Odessa on a Saturday night. Had planned to go to Cork and Pig, but the wait was an hour. Red Oak was right next door, under the same ownership as Cork and Pig, and was almost empty. Turned out a be a really pleasant discovery. We were seated next to the front door. Casual, cozy atmosphere with an open kitchen. Among us we had the roasted half chicken with broccoli, ahi salad, and the daily special of mahi tacos. The roasted chicken was all that and a bag of chips, well seasoned with very crispy skin and moist, tender meat. The broccoli was also very well prepared. The ahi salad was excellent, especially considering the distance from the ocean. The show stopper was the mahi taco plate, which was deconstructed. First, it started with an enormous garden salad with homemade croutons and a quartered hard boiled egg. Next, the plate itself consisted of a large, perfectly sauteed mahi filet with 3 corn tortillas,broccoli, and cabbage,pickled onion, guacamole, and tomato to make tacos. Phenomenal. Don't know when we'll be stopping in Odessa again, but when that happens, we'll make a beeline for Red Oak Kitchen. read more

We came here after reading reviews about how awesome the food was. We set reservations, arrived & promptly seated. The ambience here is relaxing & romantic.. Esp the 2nd floor. The hospitality was great, Arien was a great waitress. We were seated upstairs & was obvious Arien put effort to make sure we were satisfied. Ordered the rotisserie chicken, mash potatoes & house salad. The house salad was superb cold & refreshing. However the rotisserie chicken for both orders was barely room temperature as was the mash potatoes. I do not care for cool- luke warm food neither does my partner. Partner had a long day & did not complain. Returned food to be reheated. Unfortunately food returned was still cold. The food overall was good not great. The Whiskey Sour was scrumptious! The restaurant compensated for the cold dinner with a slice of key lime pie.. Key lime pie from CPT (Cork, Pig Tavern) is always great. Would I come back? Probably not. Quiet little eatery. Romantic setting except the west tx bugs that ruin the almost outside experience. If you want to sit outside maybe dont wear heels either. It gives a feel of dining in another city. The famous nachos were yummy. Drinks flowed nicely ordered draft ipa and mixed berry mojito.
