What a gem! This place is beautiful. My wife booked it and I had no idea what to expect. We pulled…read moreup to the address on my GPS and I said there is no way this is where we are staying. I thought it was a museum, which it kind of is. Our room was on the ground floor behind the main mansion. We arrived in the evening so they left us information on how to get into our room. The room was big and stunning. I loved the wood floors and everything inside the room. Everything was spotless. The beds were two queens and they were very comfortable. In the morning we went to the mansion for breakfast. The hosts were extremely friendly and made us feel at home while they cooked us some fresh eggs. The price was very reasonable and this was way better than staying at a hotel, it just was way more relaxing. I highly recommend the Lookaway Inn!

There's the main house (which I honestly don't know if there are guest rooms in the main house, but I would think so) and then there are additional rooms around the back. I stayed in one of the rooms out back. The room was on the ground floor and was spacious and beautifully appointed in period appropriate furnishings. The bathroom was also spacious and and a big and deep jetted tub, which was an unexpected bonus. The room was clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable. The inn is conveniently located to eateries etc. For my solo traveling girlies: + I don't believe the Inn is staffed all night. I was checking in around 5:30pm and the Innkeeper texted me to let me know they had a meeting and wouldn't be there upon arrival. They sent me instructions for how to do a self-check in and gain access to my room. My car was the only car in the parking lot all night. I didn't see anyone else--I believe I was the only one at the inn that night. + My room was accessed from the outside (ie: my room didn't lead to a hallway--it lead to the outdoors). And, there were two doors to access the room (both leading outside). They both did have deadbolts and one had a door chain at the top, +Parking is on site, well lit, and close to entrances +The inn appears to be in a nice area of town I don't know that I'd stay here solo again but would 100% stay with my partner.

Beautiful wrap around porch with plenty of chairs, swings and benches to enjoy sitting outside and just chill before or after you eat. Enormous southern themed buffet with huge salad bar and equally giant food bar. Today there was fried chicken, pork steak cutlets, and fresh fish along with another dozen or so favorites like mac-n-cheese, sweet potato casserole, and green beens. The service was great and each dining room had comfortable padded chairs with lovely solid dark hardwood tables. We loved everything we tried, and we most definitely will go back again soon. Even had a cute gift shop with local syrup, honey and artsy crafts.

The restaurant is in a big beautiful home, we came in through the back door which was near where we parked and there is a huge hallway from the front to back of the building and that's where the huge buffet is located. All the tables are set up in the adjoining rooms and they are all gorgeously decorated. The buffet was delicious, so many things to pick from and I was in my southern roots glory!!! I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come again if I get the chance!!
