To start the place is beautiful. We have come to happy hour which is only at the bar and fairly reasonable. This visit was for dinner and well the food was just mediocre. The shrimp toast tasted like it was frozen, the scallion pancake was okay, needed more flavor and to be crispier . The real disappointment was the lobster fried rice, it was so salty. My husband had the sesame beef he thought that was good.. The service and manager were excellent which is why we gave it 3 stars. .We will go back we do like their happy hour.I think this place is expensive for chinise. read more

Overrated and overpriced. Went there based on a recent review stating "as close to NY Chinese as you'll get." Not the case at all. Have had better in Delray at a fraction of the price. Drinks are expensive. Scotch on the rocks $20. Total bill was close to $200 for 2 with drinks and tip. Dishes are "family style." Fried rice dish was $24. Kung Pao chicken was mediocre at best. We went for a friend's Birthday last Tuesday, we were greated right away, we sat at the bar for a cocktai, we tried the drink of the week, very aromatic & tasty, the bartender was very friendly. We went to our table, we had the choice of a booth or a regular table. We chose a booth, very comfortable! We only ordered a handful of appetizers, everything was delicious & authentic Chinese ( a few choices of American dish are offered on the menu) food was very well seasoned & the server was very knowledgeable of the menu. We got a Chinese dessert ( the Chef explained to us that it's a Chinese version of the tres leche)! The bill was very reasonable and the ambience was great to be able to maintain a conversation. My husband and I went to Red Pine for dinner last night. I simply had to try a new Chinese Restaurant in the area. We were very skeptical at first when the Hot and Sour soup had chicken and shrimp, not traditional but very very good. The cold sesame noodles were probably the best we have had in South Florida. They actually used real lo mein noodles not spaghetti like many other places in Boca and Delray. They were seasoned perfectly with a great peanut sauce. We also had the duck 2 ways. It was also good , nothing close to Tropical in Miami but worth trying. Prices are high but that's Boca. Service was excellent . I would definitely go back. read more

The next time you come you realize it has no hope. The food is average to below average. The soup dumplings are horrible. The dough is so thick and the meat inside is extremely dense. One time we ordered the soup dumplings and there was this disgusting blob in the middle. It looked like snot. So gross. The kung pao chicken was good one time and then inedible the next. Dry, flavorless, and missing peanuts. I can say we have given this place more than a fair shot and it's a NO. So sad because uncle Thais was our family's favorite restaurant in boca. I went to dinner last night at Red Pine to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered a lot of food, with the expectation that there would be leftovers. The service was fantastic and the restaurant is beautiful. They give you complimentary crispy noodles to start with a variety of dipping sauces on the table. We ordered two cocktails, both were good but the drinks took a long time to get to the table. We ordered shrimp toast, scallion pancakes, vegetable egg rolls, dry wok green beans, chilled sesame noodles, sesame beef and the brownie sundae for dessert. We really liked it all except the sesame beef and the dessert. The standouts were the scallion pancakes, shrimp toast and sesame noodles. The sesame beef was tender, but the sauce needed more flavor. It was a little bland and we thought it should be either sweeter or spicier. The dessert was described as a gooey brownie, but it wasn't gooey. It tasted like a well done boxed brownie. We did enjoy the coconut sorbet that came with the brownie and the sauces on top of the brownie, but it could have used more of the sauces. None of the other desserts sounded good to us, so maybe Red Pine should vamp up the dessert menu. This place is expensive, so be prepared. The quality is there, but it is not every day Chinese food. The restaurant was busy and bustling for a Saturday night. The crowd was a mix of all ages. We'll definitely be back. It's the best Chinese around. read more

The atmosphere and service were both very good. Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing. I have to preface these comments by saying we are very familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine. First, as having spent a great deal of time in the far east, and second being from Toronto which rates with San Francisco, New York and Vancouver as having wonderful and authentic Chinese restaurants. The food here is an attempt at Chinese cuisine...like a foreigner trying to follow a recipe...but without the magic touch. Most other Chinese restaurants in the area serve "American style" Chinese food...not authentic, but pretty tasty. At least you know what to expect so you are not disappointed. Finally, the prices are quite high comparatively, so be prepared to spend at least $100 per couple. read more

Red Pine broke my heart on Valentine's Day. First we ordered egg roll and soup dumplings which were phenomenal. Next we ordered ,based on the servers high recommendation; the noodle special, long life noodle. The spice was ferociously hot. We brought that to the servers attention and asked if we could have the fried rice with shrimp instead. The fried rice arrived to our table about 10 minutes later. The egg and the shrimp were completely black on one side. It was extremely salty and we believe the dish caught on fire while in the wok and was put out with salt. We brought this issue to the server's attention and he told us it's wok charred. Then after picking up the dish from the table ; he made a disgusted facial expression and said "yeah it smells burnt!" The manager came over and apologized and agreed to remove it off the bill. Had management invited us to come back and try the fried rice again, we probably would have. That wasn't the case, management did not handle this professionally and with customer service/satisfaction. Red Pine left a burnt; charred taste in our mouth. read more

When we arrived, we had to wait to be seated for our reservation. Not because our table wasn't ready, but because the woman at the front desk was waiting for the hostess. No idea where she was, but it was a good 5 minutes or so before she returned. The restaurant was loud and dark. We were told that everything was family style and that things like rice and vegetables were extra - no problem. Anything other than plain white or brown rice was $15 and up. We were given complimentary crispy won ton strips that were so salty that I could not eat them. I ordered the chicken won ton soup which was similarly so salty that I ate the two won tons but couldn't even eat the soup. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls which were mediocre at best, general Tao's chicken which was slightly burnt, and the prawns which cost $42 for five pieces. The food itself felt like a much more expensive version of PF Chang's. I have been on the search for good Chinese food in the Boca Raton area - this is certainly not it. No fewer than five management type people came by to ask how things were, but in a very pressure-filled, leading manner, "everything's delicious here?" If I hadn't been with other people who had invited me, I would have told them the truth. Despite the managers checking on us, we had trouble getting our waiter to refill our water and had to ask repeatedly. All in all, I was exceedingly unimpressed and will not be returning. I really wanted to like this place because Boca lacks any good Chinese food. It has the same problem as the defunct Uncle Tai's: the food is too expensive for what you get. If you go, the must get item is the milk tea sponge cake, which was unexpectedly good. We had the Chinese sticky spare ribs to start which were pretty good. The entrees were just ok: "many mushroom" noodles, General Tso's chicken, sesame beef, and egg fried rice. The only consistent flavor was salty. There was no sweet, sour, spicy that I expect in Chinese food to balance the salty. Nothing was terrible but nothing was great. The ambiance is nice despite being located inside an office building but the clientele is decidedly geriatric. I will continue to head to Broward for good Chinese food. read more

Came here for social happy (their happy hour) for an early dinner. You have to sit at the bar in order to be able to order off the special menu. The restaurant was empty so we didn't have a problem getting bar seats but would've rather been able to sit at a table with 4 people. The menu is kinda pricey but the portions are definitely shareable and bigger than I expected. 3 of us shared the three cup chicken fried rice, Dan Dan noodles, 3 pork bao buns and pork long dumplings and had leftovers. The bao buns were very good but I thought 20$ for 3 buns was a bit over priced. The dumplings were not good but the fried rice /noodles were very good and nice sized portions. They had a few 11$ drink that were on a separate list at the bar. The drinks tasted good but were heavy on the ice so I felt like you didn't get much to actually drink. Our server/bar tender Matt was very helpful and friendly and made the experience a lot better! The place is in a interesting location at the bottom floor of an office building but is decorated very nicely and has a cool vibe to it. My one main complaint is the 4th person is gluten free and couldn't order anything off the social hour menu and they couldn't accommodate her. There was a slight mix up with one part of our order which was not a big deal but the manager came out and apologized profusely. We told him it was no big deal because we enjoyed the food so much. The restaurant was fairly quiet but was clean and inviting. The location is tough as it is a bit hidden away from most of the eateries in the area but is definitely worth a visit. We went this evening. My husband who has minimal vision needs lots of light. Some tables had Pina chargeable lights on the table. We asked for an extra light and we were denied The request...finally we got a second light, but then it was removed because another diner needed it. Our waiter was good. However, the food is way over priced . This dining venue does not even come close to Uncle Tais who unfortunately closed several years ago. Obviously the place is quite dark so they need to provide more lights. They do not cater to visually impaired. The food was nothing special, but good. Personally, I will not go back. read more

Gave Red Pine a try tonight, I thought it was going to be attached to the mall when I saw the address but it is actually on first floor of office building just outside the mall, across from Bowlero. Upon walking in the hostess was super attentive and quick to seat us, the decor is gorgeous. It was just 2 of us seated at a rather large table so we asked to move to smaller table and they moved us, no questions asked. We ordered the soup dumplings and the lobster/shrimp shu mai. I really liked the soup dumplings but was not a big fan of the shu mai. Next we ordered the "many mushroom" noodles which came and I literally didn't even see one mushroom let alone "many" so the waitress then brought a side of mushrooms when I asked about it. The side of mushrooms then did not seem fresh at all so unfortunately I do not recommend this dish. The other dish we tried was the kung pao chicken, which was Ok, nothing special. Pretty pricey for the quality in my opinion. The server was great! read more
